Isagenix Names $25,000 Grand Prize Winner of Its 2020 U.S. IsaBody Challenge

Kim Nase received $25,000 for winning the Challenge.

Because of the IsaBody Challenge, who I was four years ago is not the same person I am today. I get to be the person I always dreamed of being. – Kim Nase, Grand Prize Winner

Isagenix International, a global health and wellness company providing nutrition and lifestyle solutions, recently announced the grand prize winner of its 2020 U.S. IsaBody Challenge® at the company’s New Year Kick Off event in Phoenix, Arizona. Kim Nase of Lynnwood, Washington, was honored onstage in front of thousands of Isagenix independent distributors and presented with a check for $25,000.

Nase, 33, was one of 15 IsaBody® Finalists chosen from tens of thousands of U.S. participants during the 2020 Challenge. A panel of judges selected her inspirational weight loss transformation story as its top choice. Nase has dropped more than 80 pounds using Isagenix products — including 36 pounds lost during the six Challenges she completed — and now participates in Spartan races.

“Before discovering Isagenix, I knew that I wanted more for my life, but I didn’t know how to get it,” Nase said. “I am forever grateful to Isagenix, and the IsaBody Challenge, for giving me the tools I needed to make the changes in my life that I had been desiring. Because of the IsaBody Challenge, who I was four years ago is not the same person I am today. I get to be the person I always dreamed of being.”

The IsaBody Challenge included many other top contenders, including 2020 runner-up Tony Labriola, age 50, of Southbury, Connecticut.

“For the past seven years, Isagenix has been part of my daily routine,” Labriola said. “At 50 years old, I am more fit and vibrant today than I was in my mid-20s and most definitely healthier than I was in my 30s, when I was almost 300 pounds. Reclaiming my health has made me a more confident, connected, and content person. The change on the outside is a mere reflection of a profound transformation on the inside.”

To make the IsaBody Challenge an even more robust experience, Isagenix recently announced several enhancements, including a new IsaBody Fitness program that consists of four workouts each week. Challenge participants can access the free program via the IsaLife™ mobile app, where a new set of workouts with instructional videos is uploaded monthly. There is a different theme each month, with February’s workouts focusing on heart health.

METAvivor Announces Additional Metastatic Breast Cancer Research Awards

METAvivor has awarded an additional $1.2 million in research grants to round out 2019 at $6.2 million total for stage IV metastatic breast cancer research.

“2019 was a banner year for METAvivor’s research program. Once we totaled our end of the year donations for research, we were able to award an additional six grants bringing this year’s research award total to 38 grants and a grand total of $6.2 million” said Michael Kovarik, president of METAvivor.

METAvivor Research and Support Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to funding research for Stage IV metastatic breast cancer (MBC), announces six additional grant awards, bringing the 2019 grant award total to $6,200,000. The research grants will enhance the understanding of metastatic breast cancer, help improve current treatments and develop greatly needed therapeutic options to combat this complicated disease.

Metastatic breast cancer (also known as Stage IV or advanced stage cancer) is the spread of breast cancer to other parts of the body — most commonly to the bones, liver, lungs and/or brain. Approximately 30% of breast cancer patients metastasize, with the mean survival after diagnosis being 33 months. In the US, only 2-5% of all cancer research funds are dedicated to Stage IV cancer research – yet 98% of all breast cancer deaths are caused by a metastasis.

“When we announced our grants in December, we were thrilled to have our largest grant award total since METAvivor’s founding. Once we totaled our end of the year donations for research, we were able to award an additional six grants bringing this year’s research award total to 38 grants and a grand total of $6.2 million” said Michael Kovarik, the new President of METAvivor’s Board of Directors “We are humbled that our supporters have helped us exceed our goal for funding stage IV metastatic breast cancer in 2019 and we look forward to an even higher amount of awarded grants in 2020.”

The additional METAvivor grant awards are Translational Research Grants, targeted at career metastasis researchers with a total award of up to $200,000 per grant for 2019.

“Research is our number one priority. It is imperative we increase research funding for stage IV metastatic breast cancer so that we can find life extending treatments. We continue to lose 114 people every day to metastatic breast cancer.” Said Kovarik. “The hope is that the vital research that is being funded will help fulfill the promise to transform metastatic breast cancer from a terminal disease into a chronic, manageable condition.” METAvivor sends a hearty thank you to the donors, fundraisers, research partners, sponsors and the breast cancer community for helping exceed the research goal for 2019.

THE SIX ADDITIONAL METASTATIC RESEARCH GRANT RECIPIENTS:

Kompan Playgrounds helps City of Albany improve opportunity for health and wellness for all residents

With the release of the recent update to the Child Opportunity Index, the value of the addition of these playgrounds has been proven. The City of Albany has risen on list over the course of 5 years.

The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University released the Child Opportunity Index 2.0. With this new release they identified success stories of communities spurred to action by the release of the Child Opportunity Index 1.0 in 2015. The City of Albany is one of these.

The 2015 release found that Albany was the lowest ranked of 100 major cities in the US in terms of opportunity for healthy development of Hispanic and black children. Mayor Kathy Sheehan partnered with Jonathan Jones, Commissioner of Recreation, Youth & Workforce on how to fix this deficit. They decided to solve this by refurbishing parks and adding play and fitness equipment throughout the city.

“We’ve redone 13 parks and many have intergenerational features, like fitness equipment to help the whole family. Each new park has ADA compliant equipment, so all of our residents could play,” says Jones. “Albany is a neighborhood city, and the parks connect the neighborhoods.”

Albany partnered with KOMPAN to build unique playgrounds reflecting each set of surroundings and geography in the 13 playgrounds and fitness areas constructed so far.

“Not only is [each park] a place for our young people to meet friends, create networks, there are a lot of apparatus’ here that are going to challenge them not only physically but mentally,” added Jones.

With the release of the recent update to the Child Opportunity Index, the value of the addition of these playgrounds has been proven. The City of Albany has risen on list over the course of 5 years, and looks forward to more progress.
