Ivey Engineering Awards $1,000 Scholarship to University of Virginia Sophomore Max Barte

image of IEI's scholarship winner Max Barte

Max Barte is IEI’s summer 2019 scholarship winner.

I hope to improve the economic condition of disadvantaged groups through housing policy.

Ivey Engineering, Inc., (IEI), an engineering consulting firm, congratulates Max Barte of Vienna, Virginia, as the winner of the summer 2019 bi-annual scholarship essay contest. He is currently a sophomore at the University of Virginia.

Barte, who has lived overseas most of his life, is majoring in economics and hopes to understand better how the housing and financial markets in the United States work from the perspective of stakeholders such as renters, homeowners, landlords and local governments.

Barte sees himself practicing law in the next 10 years. “I hope to improve the economic condition of disadvantaged groups through housing policy,” he says.

Barte competed with over 100 other college students from the United States and Canada. Applicants were tasked to write an 800- to 1,000-word essay on one of three topics and were judged on creativity and originality.

Barte’s winning essay discussed several unique ways to incorporate energy efficiency into a building. One tip he mentions in his essay is designing a building with strong seals and insulation.

“The U.S. Department of Energy has found that reducing air leaks out of a home or building can improve health, comfort and spending on heating and cooling,” Barte explains in his essay.

“While it can significantly reduce energy costs to caulk and weather strip a building, the biggest savings come from designing buildings with airtight, durable seals around windows to maximize energy efficiency from the beginning,” he says.

“Max’s essay was informative, well written and contained original ideas on energy efficiency,” says Scott Friesen, president of IEI. “You can tell he spent some time doing research from the quality of his essay,” he says.

IEI understands how valuable a college education is and also the expense that goes along with it. The scholarship contest is a win for both IEI and the student, since it allows the firm to give back to the community.

Any potential or current college or university undergraduate student within the United States or Canada is able to apply. The next deadline for essays to be submitted is Nov.1, 2019. For contest requirements or for more information about the scholarship, visit IEI’s scholarship web page.

MC-Rx Urges Industry Accountability for PBMs with JoTo PR

JoTo PR’s team utilizes newly established patterns to create timely PR campaigns comprising both traditional and the latest proven media methods.

MC-Rx brings a clear voice to the murky PBM industry with help of JoTo PR.

“We are open and completely auditable. Open access is the key to real transparency.”

It’s no secret that PBMs are considered culpable for high drug prices in the court of public opinion. As of late last month, 47 states had filed a collective 275 bills to address rising drug costs—nearly half of these bills pertained to PBMs [1]. Republicans and Democrats do agree on the need to lower these exorbitant costs; the conflict arises when it comes to logistics. With all the controversy swirling in the industry, MC-Rx Executive Vice President LaMar Williams is calling for all fellow PBMs to be accountable for their rebate practices and product placement on their formularies.

Rebate and formulary malpractices contribute immensely to the negative public opinion of PBMs. As the middlemen between drug manufacturers and pharmacies, PBMs negotiate prices with drug manufacturers. Those manufacturers want their product on as many formularies as possible, so they include rebates that PBMs can either partially pocket or pass-through to their clients, the plan sponsors. This former tactic can encourage negotiations that are more in favor of yielding greater rebate profit than the lowest net cost for consumers.

MC-Rx’s approach to formulary and rebate management follows the lowest net cost methodology. They develop their preferred drug list based upon medications with the best efficacy and lowest total of acquisition cost, less available rebates. Their Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee reviews and determines which drugs are the most therapeutically sound and cost effective.

“We allow our customers to see all components of their pharmacy claim data. They are able to view what was paid to the pharmacy and what we billed to their plan. Customers with rebate pass-through arrangements can elect to receive a similar level of detail,” said Williams. “We are open and completely auditable. Open access is the key to real transparency.”

Williams recognized the need to bring a strong, clear voice to the murky issue when his company signed with JoTo PR in June. MC-Rx wanted to bring clarity and set a standard for the PBM industry. “Communication efforts are vital in disseminating accurate information to the industry, our pharmacy customers, lawmakers, and ultimately, the consumers who are most positively-affected by lowered drug prices,” continued Williams.

Karla Jo Helms, CEO of JoTo PR, recognizes the value of MC-Rx’s purpose and need to lead the way in revamping the rising drug costs. “Major players in various industries tend to overuse the word “transparency” without really considering the definition or expectations attached to it,” Helms said. “MC-Rx takes this to the next level with accountability—by holding themselves accountable and open for their practices to their clients.”

MC-Rx is a full-service Pharmacy Benefit Manager with corporate offices in Gainesville, Georgia and Caguas, Puerto Rico, focusing on true openness leveraging real transparency, best-in-class service, and offering clients “lowest net cost.” The company was formed by combining two URAC-accredited, world class PBM’s (ProCare Pharmacy Benefit Manager and MC-21) and provides comprehensive, industry-leading service to clients in Puerto Rico and the U.S.

JoTo PR has a track record of innovative PR services that demonstrates their ability in gaining consistent news traction within the media for national and international organizations—helping provide front-line information about industry disruptions and technological solutions aimed at making markets better for consumers. The firm is a trailblazer in the PR industry, blending traditional PR expertise with digital media algorithms to harness the advantages of the current PR landscape. JoTo PR specializes in the healthcare, finance, and technology sectors, but they have worked for a variety of industries and non-profits, using a proprietary process to consistently identify, communicate, and distribute the latest news most valuable to journalists’ readers, viewers, and listenership.

About JoTo PR DisruptorsTM:

Astute in recognizing industry changes since its launch in 2009, JoTo PR’s team utilizes newly established patterns to create timely PR campaigns comprising both traditional and the latest proven media methods. The Best Places To Get Car Insurance Quotes

News Image

“It is very easy to save car insurance money, just by simply obtaining and comparing free quotes”, said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Compare-autoinsurance.org has released a new blog post that explains the main benefits of using car insurance quotes online and compare prices.

For more info and free auto quotes, visit https://compare-autoinsurance.org/benefits-of-comparing-auto-insurance-quotes-online/

Comparing prices is the best thing a client can do, no matter what item or service he intends to purchase. This stands true for auto insurance. Car owners can now take advantage of the multitude of specialized insurance websites. Using online quotes, like the ones provided by http://compare-autoinsurance.org/ will help drivers compare prices and find affordable coverage.

  • Online quotes are designed to help drivers save money. People use online quotes to compare prices and determine which company offers the most advantageous deal. Car insurance rates vary widely between carriers and comparing prices for the same coverage is a must. Online questionnaires will even show the online user bundling options and bundling discounts. Almost all questionnaires ask if the user want to add homeowners, renters or other type of insurance and save a certain percentage on both policies.
  • Drivers can get quotes really easy. Car insurance websites must be intuitive, user-friendly and dynamic. Drivers do not have to be computer geeks in order to access quotes. The interface is usually really simple and the Search button is really visible. Insurance websites are fluid, with clear fonts, highlighted terms and dynamic animations.
  • Online quotes are free. Most of the insurance companies offer free car insurance quotes online. Brokerage websites that work with insurance companies also offer insurance quotes for free. Drivers are not forced to buy anything after obtaining quotes. They have consultative roles. After providing an email, the quoted company will send the quote (via a code) and the user can analyze it whenever he wants.
  • Online quotes can be quickly adapted to a person’s needs. Online questionnaires provide a high customization degree. The online use can select its car model, deductibles, coverage limits and extra services. After making some selections, the price will be updated. There are even companies that allow drivers to say how much they are willing to pay.

Compare-autoinsurance.org is an online provider of life, home, health, and auto insurance quotes. This website is unique because it does not simply stick to one kind of insurance provider, but brings the clients the best deals from many different online insurance carriers. In this way, clients have access to offers from multiple carriers all in one place: this website. On this site, customers have access to quotes for insurance plans from various agencies, such as local or nationwide agencies, brand names insurance companies, etc.

PRC’s 2019 National Consumer Study Reveals New Data about Healthcare Consumer Habits

https://www.prweb.com/

PRC Logo

Consumers want to have a choice to ensure they are making the best decision for them, even if that decision is to bypass receiving care all together. Today, it is less about ‘selling’ your services to consumers and more about ‘informing them’ in ways they want information.

Current healthcare consumer trends remind organizations that patients are consumers and consumers are patients. But this shift in healthcare attitudes and perceptions doesn’t mean organizations need to abandon their brand strategies. New research from PRC, a national healthcare market research organization, reveals how understanding new behaviors and fitting your organizational strategy into the new model goes a long way in satisfying healthcare consumers.

At its core, consumerism reflects the desire of healthcare consumers to interact with healthcare as they do with other industries, such as retail. This compounds among younger consumers—patients who like to have options and want to feel empowered to make their own decisions about healthcare.

The National Consumer Report, published September 18, reveals the results of a random survey of healthcare consumers across the country, specifically looking for habitual trends. The study measured:

  • Healthcare utilization and preference
  • Advertising
  • Importance of factors when choosing a doctor
  • Impact of the internet on healthcare consumption, including the use of telemedicine and patient portals

Given recent market trends and developing technology, the study also closely examines how consumers search for healthcare online and how those behaviors impact care decisions. “The national consumer report confirms what many have been saying about the changing landscape of healthcare consumption,” Keith Schneider, Director of Consumer & Engagement Studies at PRC, said. “Consumers want to have a choice to ensure they are making the best decision for them, even if that decision is to bypass receiving care all together. Today, it is less about ‘selling’ your services to consumers and more about ‘informing them’ in ways they want information.” The results point to relevant data about cross-generational care, attitudes which impact the political decisions surrounding American healthcare, and the expectations consumers have concerning their quality of care.

Rising Generations

Comparing responses of different age groups demonstrates a growing need to accommodate the consumption habits of young Gen-Xers and aging millennials. The survey found that in 2019, consumers under the age of 45 are less likely to have one preferred hospital or a specific doctor they visit, are more likely to have used a retail clinic and telemedicine, and typically interact with the internet for care advice on a much grander scale than older generations.

Further, these consumers are much more likely to use social media to find a doctor and to try home remedies found online before setting foot in a care setting. Ever cost-conscious, these populations often contact multiple facilities to inquire about cost before choosing a place for care and are more likely to bypass care entirely because of high costs.

Political Relevance

Partly in response to cost barriers, the future of American healthcare occupies the minds of many voters in the 2020 election. Some feel there should be a government-led, single-payer system, while others feel that consumers need to have capitalistic competition to obtain the best care. Consumers like choice, but the high cost of care, combined with the availability of information on the internet (whether credible or not), has caused more consumers to take care into their own hands rather than face medical debt—a trend leaders of all kinds should consider when creating healthcare policy in any capacity.

Branding for Excellence

In general, PRC has found that fewer consumers have a preferred hospital, though those that do consider the quality of care at that hospital to be excellent. The current state of competitive healthcare in most markets means institutions must meet the high demands for an excellent patient experience. However, that experience is not just about having an ailment remedied. Rather, this encapsulates each moment within that experience—from first arriving for care, to paying the very last bill, every touchpoint matters. If consumers feel that their experience was less than excellent, they’re increasingly comfortable seeking care from a local competitor.

Notably, expectations for excellence change outside traditional care settings. Retail clinics, urgent care centers, and telemedicine offer consumers additional options beyond the hospital. Despite not rating the overall experience for any of these options as high as the ratings for hospitals, consumers typically use these services for less serious ailments, often due to their convenience and lower cost.

That said, providing an excellent patient experience still results in significant gains for healthcare institutions. Consumers who feel that their preferred hospital is excellent are highly likely to share that opinion, both online and with friends and family. Therefore, a healthcare organization’s dedication to excellence means more than keeping patients, but also creating brand ambassadors and loyal consumers.

The study consists of 1,500 total surveys with a target of reaching 375 in the four regions across the continental United States. Healthcare decision makers in each household shared their responses either over the phone or online. The full report can be downloaded here.
