Doctible and ClearGage Announce Technology Integration Designed to Improve the Patient Payment Experience

Doctible, a healthcare communication and retention SaaS platform, and ClearGage LLC, a leading provider of patient payment technology and financial services, have established a partnership to provide Doctible clients with a suite of patient payment solutions.

“We have been seeing an increased need from our customer base on offering payment solutions, so we are very thrilled to partner with ClearGage to offer a solution that is specifically catered to private practices” says Ajit Viswanathan, CEO of Doctible. “Practices are having to take a bigger share of the burden of collecting from patients and without an easy way to operationalize this workflow, they tend to spend a lot of hours and lost revenue from the inability to collect. Through the Doctible-ClearGage product, this effort now becomes a matter of couple of clicks and patients really appreciate the ability to see their balance and pay it over the phone with the flexibility of payment plans. This will revolutionize the practice workflow and help practices to focus more time on the thing they do best: patient care” added Viswanathan.

Doctible clients will gain access to multiple features offered through ClearGage’s PaymentAccelerator platform including mobile payment notifications, prefunding, and recurring payment plans. By utilizing these features, practices can streamline the patient collection process and offer different methods for patients to pay for care and receive better visibility around payments due.

“We are very excited to partner with Doctible and offer our mobile payments platform to their clients.” Says Chip Hunziker, CEO of ClearGage. “Patients overwhelmingly appreciate the convenience of paying their bill with just a few clicks from their mobile device. Doctible clients can save thousands of dollars per year by leveraging text and email versus the cost of paper statements and postage. Providers will see an immediate reduction and their days sales outstanding and can expect to see payments within minutes of launching a payments campaign instead of waiting weeks and months when compared to paper statements” added Hunziker.

New DSCC Weekly Database Provides Complete Toolset at China Display Fabs from 2015-2020 and Beyond

Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) has released a first of its kind database which provides the complete toolset and components used in all display fabs in China, from 2015-2020 and beyond. The Advanced Weekly PO and Award Database reveals all the different tools and components for nearly every display fab in China along with the supplier of those tools and components and the number of units being delivered. These awards are typically issued before purchase orders are released, allowing analysts to not only track, but also predict company bookings. In addition, since display equipment can be delivered more than a year after the awards are issued, it allows users to accurately forecast market share out as much as 18-months in advance for more than 150 different equipment categories, ranging from less than $5000 to over $100M per tool/component. With the fabs in this database representing over 75% of 2018-2020 equipment spending, it represents a cost effective and highly accurate way for companies to predict the size of the display market in units and revenues as well as track their competition. It also gives component suppliers a way to track their end-markets and market share of their customers. In addition, it allows panel manufacturers to examine the tool choices of their competitors and gain insight into their competitor’s processes. Furthermore, it allows equipment suppliers to track the growth of segments they are not participating in, providing an immediate way to size the market for every category and shorten the time it takes to assess new markets.

A second database is also provided on all purchase orders filed by Korean equipment suppliers, revealing the size of every PO in KRW and $US along with delivery dates, giving insight into bookings, revenue recognition and tool pricing.

According to DSCC Founder and CEO Ross Young, “We are thrilled to be offering this product to our customers, which reveals perfect information on all display equipment and components going into fabs in China. Users can instantly see how many tools for every tool type are being ordered at each fab. It allows them to quickly size equipment markets, determine market share, track their competition, assess panel makers’ processes and much more. This publicly available data has never been compiled in this way before and allows buy-side and sell-side analysts and investors to make more informed decisions on display-related stocks. In addition, as new fabs are built and more equipment is awarded, those will be captured as well and updated weekly. It also allows DSCC to feed this information into its Quarterly Display Capex and Equipment Report and provide more accurate market sizing and market share data on the whole market for over 70 different equipment segments.”

The complete toolsets and design wins are provided for the following fabs:

  • AUO : Kunshan
  • BOE : B3, B6, B7, B9, B10, B11 and B17
  • CEC : CHOT Xianyang
  • CEC Panda : CCPD Chengdu, Nanjing (2 fabs)

  • HKC : H1, H2 and H4
  • Royole : R1
  • Tianma : Chengdu, Shanghai, Wuhan and Xiamen
  • Truly : SDC L5
  • Visionox : V1, V2 and V3

Companies that subscribe to the report between October 2nd and November 2nd will receive a $1000 discount on their first year’s subscription.

This product features 3 spreadsheets which include:

NAATP to be Presented with the Dorothy Dorman Service Award at the Harmony Foundation 50th Anniversary Gala

Harmony Foundation, a Colorado-based addiction treatment center, has selected the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (NAATP) for its Dorothy Dorman Service Award. The award was established to honor Harmony Foundation’s long-time CEO at her retirement. The award recognizes people or organizations sharing the same integrity and dedication for addiction treatment solutions as the award’s name bearer.

The award will be presented at Harmony Foundation’s 50th Anniversary Gala in Denver, Colorado on October 25 at the Four Seasons Hotel. Carnie Wilson of Wilson Phillips will be the special guest speaker of this milestone event that commemorates the long and impactful heritage of Harmony Foundation which has positively changed the lives of thousands. Proceeds from this event will benefit scholarships supporting those with the desire, but without the means, to receive the addiction treatment they need. Tickets, as well as sponsorship opportunities, are available to the public at harmonyfoundationinc.com/50th.

“NAATP has long been the voice for addiction programs across the country and for decades has led the charge in establishing meaningful ethical standards and protocols for this important treatment category,” stated James Geckler, Harmony Foundation President and CEO. “We wanted to acknowledge their continuing hard work in helping their membership collaborate and better serve their patients.”

Recently NAATP has been active on the national stage supporting the passing of bi- partisan legislation H.R. 6 (115th Congress), which contains over 120 separate bills to address the opioid crisis. For the first time, the federal government is examining how individual states are enforcing the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) passed in 2008 and making changes to the antiquated Medicaid limitation on residential treatment based on the number of beds operated by a facility.

NAATP CEO Marvin Ventrell added “The National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers is honored to receive the Harmony Foundation Dorothy Dorman Award on the occasion of Harmony’s 50th Anniversary. Founded nearly a decade before the National Association itself, Harmony was among the first treatment programs to join the association and has since that time supported NAATP as a valued charter member. This speaks volumes about Harmony’s commitment to not just its own patients but the welfare of the national addiction recovery community at large. Keep up the good work Harmony and here’s to 50 more years of success.”

ThreatWarrior and Moffitt Cancer Center work together to bring Next-Generation Cybersecurity to the Health Care Industry

Cybercrime is the cancer of the digital age and ThreatWarrior is giving organizations a chance to fight back.

ThreatWarrior, a leader in AI-powered cyber defense, and Moffitt Cancer Center, the only Florida-based National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, announced today a collaboration agreement to improve cybersecurity for health care organizations.

The two industry leaders will work together to develop ThreatWarrior features and functionalities so that organizations can quickly mitigate and defend the deluge of cyber threats and other vulnerabilities.

“Cybercrime is the cancer of the digital age and ThreatWarrior is giving organizations a chance to fight back,” said Pete Slade, founder and CEO at ThreatWarrior. “The potential of this partnership is enormous, and we are proud to be working with such a highly-regarded institution as Moffitt in combating this growing issue.”

With cyberattacks increasing daily, it’s critical that high-value targets take advanced, proactive security measures to prevent breaches. This is especially true in the case of hospitals, medical offices and other health organizations, where compromised systems can cost much more than financial or reputation damage.

ThreatWarrior helps prevent these losses by combining machine learning with network and behavioral analysis to identify anomalies. It autonomously identifies and neutralizes cyber threats by delivering a Cyber Immune Response™ modeled after the human immune system. The platform provides comprehensive protection from all cyberattacks including zero-day exploits, ransomware, insider and unknown attacks.

As part of the strategic collaboration agreement, Moffitt’s Cyber Operations will collaborate with ThreatWarrior application developers to constantly improve the product.

“Because of the constant cyber threats to health care operations, teams need new and innovative measures to swiftly address them,” said Dave Summitt, Moffitt’s chief information security officer. “ThreatWarrior has the potential to significantly impact the defense of cyberattacks and how threats are handled by health care security teams.”

About ThreatWarrior

ThreatWarrior is lowering global cybercrime by democratizing advanced cybersecurity, making it possible for all organizations to defend themselves. The cybersecurity platform combines adaptive AI, network traffic and behavior analytics, incident forensics and response in a single solution to protect businesses from constantly-evolving cyberattacks. EKU Online Psychology Program Adds Applied Behavior Analysis Degree

EKU Online Logo

EKU is launching an online master’s degree program in psychology for those interested in applied behavior analysis.

This degree is the next step toward a broad range of career options for EKU graduates, such as helping children with autism, counseling those affected by the opioid crisis or providing support for the growing senior citizen population.

Eastern Kentucky University has a new online graduate program in psychology with a concentration in applied behavior analysis. There are two paths to completion, to accommodate students seeking a master’s degree and students who already hold a master’s degree in an associated field. Both the degree and certificate options provide students with coursework needed to pursue their Board Certified Behavior Analyst credential, positioning them to help fill a need for behavioral healthcare in Kentucky and surrounding states.

“This degree is the next step toward a broad range of career options for EKU graduates, such as helping children with autism, counseling those affected by the opioid crisis or providing support for the growing senior citizen population,” explained Robert Brubaker, Ph.D., chair of the psychology department.

Behavior analysts work in any setting where a behavior change is needed. They often find employment in schools, residential facilities, corrections facilities and substance abuse rehabilitation hospitals.

EKU’s curriculum is endorsed as a Verified Course Sequence by the Association for Behavior Analysis International, which means program graduates will have completed the educational requirement for taking the BCBA exam.

Students can earn the master’s degree in as quickly as 15 months. Those who already have a master’s degree in psychology, education or behavior analysis can earn a certificate in one year.

Myra Beth Bundy, Ph.D., program coordinator and professor, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Having completed the BCBA exam herself, she looks forward to supporting students as they work toward their own credentials. “There are a lot of people in our communities who want to make a difference. Our goal is to give them the education and mentorship needed to achieve that,” she said.

The online ABA program is designed for the working professional with no campus visits required. The GRE is waived for those who have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Courses are taught in convenient 8-week terms. EKU Online has a strong reputation for student support services, which include personalized advising, direct access to instructors and free one-on-one tutoring sessions.

Applications are now being accepted for the spring term. For more information about the EKU Online degree or certificate option in applied behavior analysis, visit https://go.eku.edu/ABAonline.

New Luminaires Designed For Patient Comfort, Not Just Safety

Symmetry 23" luminaire above a behavioral health bed

Symmetry can be specified for patient overbed as well as more general areas like dayrooms and nurse stations.

Most published standards for behavioral health design now consider aesthetics to be a crucial factor in quality of care.

Visa Lighting’s “Symmetry” family has been on the market since 2016, with 23” and 45” diameter models designed specifically for patient overbed, general use, and tunability. Symmetry’s round, recessed ceiling luminaires feature a patented concave dome in the center of the lens that creates a beautiful ambient glow. This simple form factor allows lighting designers to use organic shapes and draw the eye to particular areas—without focusing on the luminaire itself.

Because they treat patients whose symptoms may include aggression or suicidal ideation, behavioral health facilities require a higher level of environmental safety precautions. Luminaires in patient areas must be tamper-resistant, ligature-resistant, and impact-resistant so that they do not pose a threat when damaged or combined with other objects.

Visa Lighting’s new Symmetry models are tested to IK10+ standards, which means they can withstand over 100 joules of mechanical impact. They are constructed with an additional 3/16” polycarbonate lens, which is fastened behind the minimal frame with tamper-resistant screws. Each model can be installed flush to the drywall/sheetrock ceiling, and recessed 5-7”.

However, safety isn’t the only concern. Behavioral health facility design (whether hospital units or inpatient psychiatric centers) has shifted dramatically in the last decade. In addition to safety, most published standards for behavioral health design now consider aesthetics to be a crucial factor in quality of care:

  • The New York State Office of Mental Health’s safety standards guide lists “Therapeutic Environment and Appearance” as a secondary criteria for product evaluation.
  • In 2012, Ulrich et al. found that a “home-like design” can decrease patient aggression.
  • The Behavioral Health Design Guide published by BHFC states that “Behavioral health units and facilities should be designed to appear comfortable, attractive, and as residential in character as possible.”

Behavioral healthcare evolved from symptom control to evidence-based care that focuses on personal recovery. More studies accumulate every year that demonstrate how therapeutic environments can have a positive effect on patient experience and help reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health treatment.

Because elements in most areas of inpatient behavioral health facilities must be safe, luminaire design has traditionally been more institutional-looking. Now, thanks to more sophisticated manufacturing processes and the small footprint of LEDs, Visa Lighting’s engineers are able to craft behavioral health luminaires that look more home-like and minimalist—while still passing vigorous safety tests.

Symmetry is a prime example. A crucial part of adapting this family’s design for behavioral health was retaining characteristics that made it suitable for high-end commercial spaces in the first place. The tamper-resistant screws that fasten the frame and lenses to the ceiling structure are barely visible and painted with the same finish as the frame. This keeps the aesthetic as minimalist as possible. The outer frame was redesigned with a marginal increase in thickness. Additionally, the outer polycarbonate lens is completely clear, which allows the inner acrylic lens to produce the same illumination effect.

About Visa Lighting:

Visa Lighting’s mission is to forge bold, exceptional experiences through progression and creative collaboration. That’s why their performance architectural lighting products are designed, manufactured and assembled by skilled craftspeople in Milwaukee, WI. Decades of manufacturing expertise qualify Visa Lighting to promote responsible innovations in lighting technology, creating opportunities to protect the natural environment while sustaining wellbeing in the built environment. Brick City Startup Riskcast Solutions Provides ‘Software for Hardhats’

News Image

“Riskcast is designed to allow teams to get started simply, where they are today, and grow into full functionality, not only saving them paperwork and time but providing them real-time data and valuable production analytics.”

Riskcast Solutions, a tech startup aimed at increasing productivity and eliminating outdated paper-based processes for the construction industry, today announced the closing of its $600k pre-seed round, led by Newark Venture Partners, with participation from Scopus Ventures.

Riskcast Solutions offers tradesmen and women a single easy to use platform to quickly and easily enter all of their daily information including, man hours, production quantities, notes, daily logs, delivery tickets, etc. The result is a system that relies less on 20th century tools like paper timecards, and exhaustive spreadsheets, and instead, provides foremen and superintendents with real-time data. Job-site leadership is now able to track costs, productivity, and trends, while identifying wins and areas in need of improvement on an ongoing and immediate basis. Companies have been replacing timecards and daily logs for a few years, but Riskcast is the first tech startup to deliver a unified platform specifically designed for construction crews.

“Construction is seeing an explosion of tech right now but very few solutions are tackling issues that can increase productivity on day one.” said Alec Thomson, Co-Founder and CEO of Riskcast. “Riskcast is designed to allow teams to get started simply, where they are today, and grow into full functionality, not only saving them paperwork and time but providing them real-time data and valuable production analytics.

Riskcast Solutions has multiple customers and several enterprise level partnerships, including E-J Electric which already runs the startup on most of their projects across the greater New York area and plans to complete the rollout this year thereby managing all 900 of their field crews on the single platform.

“The value of Riskcast isn’t just one thing, it’s so many things. It’s a timesaver across multiple departments. It’s a live view for project managers and management into the health of their project. And it provides us the ability to review our production to bid and build better moving forward,” said Tony Mann, President & CEO of E-J Electric.

E-J Electric first piloted Riskcast on two projects to test the system in 2018, resulting in an immediate cost savings of over $3,000 per month. E-J estimates the full value of Riskcast post implementation to be in excess of seven figures.

“The construction industry is known for being notoriously old fashion, which also makes it perfectly ripe for disruption,” said Thomas Wisniewski, Managing Partner of NVP. “Riskcast’s platform is a job site manager’s dream, making any project easier to track, more efficient and less expensive. It would be tough for even the most old-school of operations managers to say no to that.”

The Riskcast team recently completed NVP Labs, the Newark Venture Partners accelerator program, and subsequently designated their Newark, NJ space their office headquarters. The funds raised will be used for sales, marketing and to augment development, as well as to support the growing team. The newest addition to the staff is Andrew Morgan, a New Jersey native who was introduced to Riskcast during his internship as a business development representative for NVP Labs’s last cohort.

Co-Founders Reggie Arichabala and Alec Thomson are both 20 plus year veterans of the industry. Arichabala worked for Skanska as a cost engineer, an IT integration specialist, and then the Principle Solutions Architect at the $4B LaGuardia Airport project. Thomson began as a field engineer and moved into a regional office before coming to work on a business strategy team for Skanska in their corporate office.

About RiskCast:

Riskcast is a productivity and forecasting tool for the construction industry. We provide a way for project managers to track labor, material and equipment, without the need to maintain multiple fancy spreadsheets. Our mission is to enable the construction industry by unleashing the power of data to reduce risk in all areas of performance while putting project teams first in all that we do. Simply we are software for hardhats. For more information visit Riskcast.com
