Clinerion partners with PPC to bring Patient Network Explorer coverage and services to patients and hospitals in Korea, China and Taiwan

As part of the partnership, PPC will use the Patient Network Explorer platform to advance clinical trials, trial enrollment, and accelerate global studies conducted in the People’s Republic of China, the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the Republic of Korea (South Korea). PPC will encourage hospitals to participate in Clinerion’s Patient Network Explorer platform for generation of RWD/RWE and bringing more global studies to hospitals.

PPC provides a fully integrated solution for Phase I-IV studies in Asian countries. PPC is dedicated to serve the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry with world-class quality and cost-effective solutions to shorten the lead time to market. PPC provides full services for clinical trials, such as Project Management, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Monitoring, Biostatistics, Data Management, Medical Writing, and Pharmacovigilance.

Patient Network Explorer supports patient health by matching patients from Clinerion’s global network of hospitals to clinical trials conducted by pharmaceutical sponsors or researchers performing academic investigations. The system is based on de-identified EHR data, unlinked from any identifiers, protecting patient privacy. The partners’ combined services will accelerate access for patients and hospitals to next-generation medical treatments. Patients in the region will become more visible to sponsors for trial recruitment, and hospitals in the region will become better placed to run clinical trials, ultimately accelerating drug launch.

“We are excited to be partnering with Clinerion to jointly offer our customers access to global integrated recruitment services through the Patient Network Explorer platform,” says Michael Stibilj, CEO of PPC. “This relationship will enable researchers and hospitals, in our region, to have additional opportunities to be involved in global trials, also providing patients access to new potential treatments. Increased access to patients will speed up the clinical trial process and help accelerate the development of break-through products.”

“The strength of Patient Network Explorer lies in its global coverage,” says Ian Rentsch, Clinerion CEO. “Clinerion’s hospital network currently covers 19 countries and over 73 M patients. The partnership with PPC promises to deepen our presence in Korea and Taiwan, and expand our coverage to China. Clinerion continues to build our global presence!”

Installation Begins on Spokane’s Christmas Tree

News Image

This Friday, November 1st, Senske Services will be decorating the 80-foot tree featured in the annual Spokane Tree Lighting Celebration. The event put on by the City of Spokane and Riverfront Park, will be held on November 30th in Riverfront Park with Senske team members on hand distributing 3-D glasses that display fun holograms within the Christmas lights.

This is the third year that Senske Services of Spokane has donated the lighting for the enormous fir tree and it is quite the undertaking. According to Timm Turnbough, Branch Manager, installing the lights requires a 125-foot lift and takes about 32-man hours. It will take another 18 hours to remove the lights at the end of this holiday season.

The Christmas tree is covered in 2,500 LED, C-9 bulbs stretching over 3,125 feet in length. The giant red bow is 10 feet tall and there are 6 large light bursts that top the tree.

Turnbough went on to say that “Senske is delighted to be part of the annual celebration.” After the event, the festive tree will remain lit throughout the holiday season for all of Spokane to enjoy.

Allied Environmental Services adds Electrofusion Pipe Welding to Expanding List of Services

https://www.prweb.com/

Electrofusion repairs at landfill facility

We primarily work at environmentally sensitive facilities where exceptional quality work is a must

In response to client input and the needs of industry in the western New York region, Allied began building the electrofusion welding service offering in the first quarter 2019. According to Linda Grimmer, Allied Buffalo Branch Manager, Allied made considerable investment in the equipment, training and resources required to offer professional and high-quality service. “We primarily work at environmentally sensitive facilities where exceptional quality work is a must”, Grimmer stated. “Our clients were struggling to find qualified contractors to provide the electrofusion welding service, so we responded by adding the capability ourselves. When we made that commitment, we also committed to becoming expertly trained and equipped to provide outstanding quality work, which is what our clients expect and deserve,” Grimmer added.

Electrofusion welding is a method of joining medium and high-density polyethylene (MDPE & HDPE) piping through electrical resistive heat fusion. The process produces a complete and consistent weld without using solvents or adhesives, which eliminates contamination concerns at environmentally sensitive work sites, such as landfills and environmental remediation projects. It also allows for repairs to be made without removing existing piping from the ground.

According to Grimmer, electrofusion welding offers several benefits over traditional polyethylene pipe joining, especially in applications involving the installation and repair of in-situ environmental treatment systems. “The process is free of chemical solvents, which we never want to introduce to a treatment system. Also, it allows for buried pipes to be repaired in place without removing them and bringing them to the surface,” Grimmer said. “The process is less intrusive, and because the equipment is programmable, it eliminates human error and makes a more consistent weld,” she added.

Allied has more than 30 years of experience installing and repairing in-situ treatment systems. The addition of the electrofusion welding service adds an additional specialized tool to the firm’s wide range of capabilities.

Written with heart and earnest compassion, this book invites readers to reassess how they relate to God and to accept the guidance He gives both through and throughout each of life’s trials.

Athenascope Launches Showcases, Giving Streamers a Free, AI-Powered Editor to Make Music-Synced Montages of their Best Plays

“Athena takes the burden off of streamers, making it possible for streamers at all levels to show off like the biggest Twitch stars.”

Athenascope, a games tech startup that aims to change the way we play and watch games together, today introduced Showcases, giving broadcasters an AI-powered video editor that automatically produces slick, music-synchronized montages of broadcasters’ best plays of the week.

Each week, streamers who use Athenascope can unlock a Showcase featuring a brand-new music track by achieving a set number of kills, wins, or other requirements depending on their game of choice. Streamers get access to a “BRB link,” which makes it incredibly simple to play their latest Showcases live during a stream break to keep viewers entertained.

A Showcase featuring Athenascope users playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare can be viewed here: https://youtu.be/wf8rma0osVo

“We’ve been lucky to work with a lot of incredible, hard-working streamers, and we’ve listened closely to their feedback to understand how Athena can help make their lives easier — that’s why we developed Showcases,” said Chris Kirmse, founder and CEO of Athenascope. “Before Showcases, streamers would have to spend countless hours editing their gameplay highlights, or they’d need to pay a pro to make edits for them. Athena takes the burden off of streamers, making it possible for streamers at all levels to show off like the biggest Twitch stars.”

Athenascope recently introduced Twitch auto-processing, automatically generating highlights for Twitch streamers who link their accounts, and launched Twitter integration, making it simple for streamers to share moments with their audience on social media.

The Athenascope Windows app automatically detects supported games and sends your gameplay sessions to Athenascope’s servers, where the company’s computer vision AI technology chooses top moments and outputs fully produced highlight videos and clips for users to share with friends. Available for free, Athenascope just added support for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which joins its lineup of Fortnite, Apex Legends, Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds, Rocket League, Overwatch, and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Athenascope harnesses high-tech computer vision technology (the same AI method that powers self-driving cars), and brings it to games, beginning with automatic highlights and leading to future developments like AI coaching. The company recently raised a $2.5 million seed round led by First Round Capital, with the fund’s founder, Josh Kopelman, joining the Athenascope board of directors.

Yamaha Amplifies Amazon Smart Home Capabilities with Built-in Amazon Music Services and Enhanced Alexa Voice Control

https://www.prweb.com/

Yamaha MusicCast-enabled products with Amazon Music and Alexa voice control

“MusicCast customers can access dozens of stations and streaming services and millions of songs. That flexibility also includes controlling devices with a choice of voice assistants. This is how music should be experienced in the smart home,” said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha.

Yamaha is further enhancing the music streaming services and smart home capabilities of its home audio products, bringing Amazon Music and enhanced Alexa voice control to its latest line of MusicCast-enabled products. This fall, over 15 current home audio products, including wireless speakers, AV receivers, sound bars and a wireless turntable, will receive a free firmware update to enable deeper integration with Amazon services and devices.

As one of the most popular music streaming services, Amazon Music is a welcome addition to an already robust lineup of built-in options offered through Yamaha devices, which includes Spotify, Pandora, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Deezer, TIDAL, Napster and Qobuz. Apple Music is available via AirPlay 2 support.

But the firmware update goes beyond simply adding Amazon Music to the lineup of built-in music streaming services offered in the newest generation of MusicCast products from Yamaha. In addition to expanding customers’ access, the firmware update also opens up more capabilities for Alexa voice control of streaming services on supported Yamaha devices in any room. Through the firmware update, an Alexa device, such as an Echo or Dot, will be able to control and play Amazon Music, Pandora, Deezer, Gimme Radio and SiriusXM on any updated Yamaha device connected to a home Wi-Fi network through the MusicCast Smart Home skill. While support varies by region, additional music streaming services with Alexa voice control – plus evaluation of Amazon Music HD – is planned.

“We design our home audio products with state-of-the-art technology that evolves and grows with our customers and changes how you experience music. With MusicCast, customers can access dozens of stations and streaming services, thousands of artists and millions of songs,” said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. “That freedom and flexibility includes the ability to control your devices with your choice of voice assistants, whether it’s Alexa, Google or Siri. This is how music should be experienced in the smart home.”

Access to built-in music services is available through the Yamaha MusicCast app, which allows playback on either a single device or multiple MusicCast devices throughout the home. MusicCast also allows whole home audio playback of the music stored on users’ mobile devices, and – for sound bars and AV receivers – externally connected audio sources such as TV sound. MusicCast devices offer high-resolution audio support, plus Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Voice control is available via Google Assistant and Alexa devices, and with Siri on iOS via AirPlay 2.

Release Schedule

Firmware updates to the latest generation of MusicCast-enabled models will be released in several phases, delivering Amazon Music to all available regions this fall.

As part of this firmware release, the US and Canada will also receive enhanced voice control capabilities for Alexa (English only). Support for other languages and regions is planned for later this year.

Users will be automatically prompted to install the firmware via the MusicCast app. Those who have registered their products will receive an email notification when a new update is available.

Products receiving the firmware update for Amazon Music and enhanced voice control by Alexa devices, such as an Echo or Dot, are as follows:

October 23:

  • Wireless speakers: MusicCast 20, MusicCast 50

October 31:

  • Sound bars: MusicCast BAR 400 (YAS-408), ATS-4080
  • AV Receivers: RX-Ax80 Series, RX-Vx85 Series, RX-S602 slimline AV receiver, TSR-7850, CX-A5200 AV preamp/processor

Addressing the Physical and Emotional Tolls of the Pigment-Loss Condition

https://www.prweb.com/

Chris Byrne, RPA-C

In most cases, vitiligo appears in corresponding patches on both sides of the body – “generalized” or “nonsegmental” vitiligo. However, cases of “segmental” vitiligo can also occur, affecting one side alone.

Jon Hamm attributes the blotches of white skin that appeared on his hands to a megadose of stress: He had recently taken on a big role – playing the uber-alpha drinking, smoking, philandering Don Draper in the smash hit Mad Men. In his thirties at the time, Hamm developed vitiligo. “It starts without warning,” notes Chris Byrne, a certified registered physician’s assistant specializing in dermatology with Advanced Dermatology PC. “Stress combined with an underlying autoimmune condition may trigger its onset.”

A “convergence theory,” says the nonprofit Vitiligo Research Foundation, could explain why up to two percent of us suddenly start to lose melanocytes: Some combination of stress, toxins, disease, and genes causes the death of those pigment-producing skin cells, leaving behind patches of white skin, whose appearance is especially noticeable against darker skin tones.

In most cases, vitiligo appears in corresponding patches on both sides of the body – “generalized” or “nonsegmental” vitiligo. However, cases of “segmental” vitiligo can also occur, affecting one side alone. The American Academy of Dermatology classifies those two types further: localized vitiligo affects a small area; generalized vitiligo progresses to more widespread patches; and universal vitiligo, the most rare, causes almost all skin to lose pigment.

“As with Jon Hamm,” observes Byrne, “it commonly begins on the hands. Once begun, generalized vitiligo typically starts and stops, seemingly at random. Unfortunately, research has not yet uncovered a vitiligo ‘off’ switch.”

“In most cases,” continues Byrne, “vitiligo does not cause other physical symptoms. But the emotional and psychological tolls can be severe. Early diagnosis can give patients the greatest access to treatment choices.”

In those rare cases of universal vitiligo, patients may opt to lighten the limited remaining pigmented skin. However, most patients – if they choose to treat localized or generalized cases – elect a means of adding color.

With that in mind, Byrne makes the following suggestions.

6 Answers to Help Choose a Vitiligo Treatment

1. When does makeup make sense? “Half of vitiligo cases start under the age of 21,” notes Byrne. “For children with the condition, adding color with makeup, skin dye, or self-tanners can be healthy choices, as they do not have the possible side effects of other treatments. This may also appeal to those who want a temporary, ‘as needed’ approach without side effects.”

2. What about topical corticosteroids? ”These are most effective when used early, before there is widespread pigment loss,” says Byrne. “In particular, treatment may help repigment areas of the face. Some caveats include the need to monitor for side effects, as skin atrophy can occur when used for more than a year.”

3. How can light and lasers help? “Phototherapy – UVA and UVB treatments – can help add color to more extensive areas,” explains Byrne. “For small areas, lasers can be particularly effective, with seventy percent seeing improvement. Patients should be fully informed regarding outcome, as color gain can gradually fade.”

4. What can combination therapy do? “‘PUVA’ refers to the use of psoralen – either in topical or oral form – in conjunction with UVA light treatment,” describes Byrne. “This is a long-term treatment, typically involving weekly sessions for a year. Up to seventy-five percent of the time, there is pigment gain on the face and body, including the torso and upper arms and legs. With this approach, it’s important to monitor for side effects, including vision changes. And sun protection is essential.”

5. When can surgery be considered? “Transplanting pigmented skin,” says Byrne, “can be effective but should only be considered for adults with ‘stable’ cases – that is, no pigment loss for at least six months. And surgery also carries the risk of side effects.”

6. Are new treatments on the way? “This is a hopeful time,” notes Byrne. “New topical treatments are showing promise in current research. We had exciting news this summer regarding the topical agent ruxolitinib, and the third phase of its clinical trial is now underway.”

“Vitiligo patients,” Byrne emphasizes, “need the support of caring specialists who can empower them to make informed choices.”
