Doctible and ClearGage Announce Technology Integration Designed to Improve the Patient Payment Experience

Doctible, a healthcare communication and retention SaaS platform, and ClearGage LLC, a leading provider of patient payment technology and financial services, have established a partnership to provide Doctible clients with a suite of patient payment solutions.

“We have been seeing an increased need from our customer base on offering payment solutions, so we are very thrilled to partner with ClearGage to offer a solution that is specifically catered to private practices” says Ajit Viswanathan, CEO of Doctible. “Practices are having to take a bigger share of the burden of collecting from patients and without an easy way to operationalize this workflow, they tend to spend a lot of hours and lost revenue from the inability to collect. Through the Doctible-ClearGage product, this effort now becomes a matter of couple of clicks and patients really appreciate the ability to see their balance and pay it over the phone with the flexibility of payment plans. This will revolutionize the practice workflow and help practices to focus more time on the thing they do best: patient care” added Viswanathan.

Doctible clients will gain access to multiple features offered through ClearGage’s PaymentAccelerator platform including mobile payment notifications, prefunding, and recurring payment plans. By utilizing these features, practices can streamline the patient collection process and offer different methods for patients to pay for care and receive better visibility around payments due.

“We are very excited to partner with Doctible and offer our mobile payments platform to their clients.” Says Chip Hunziker, CEO of ClearGage. “Patients overwhelmingly appreciate the convenience of paying their bill with just a few clicks from their mobile device. Doctible clients can save thousands of dollars per year by leveraging text and email versus the cost of paper statements and postage. Providers will see an immediate reduction and their days sales outstanding and can expect to see payments within minutes of launching a payments campaign instead of waiting weeks and months when compared to paper statements” added Hunziker.

ThreatWarrior and Moffitt Cancer Center work together to bring Next-Generation Cybersecurity to the Health Care Industry

Cybercrime is the cancer of the digital age and ThreatWarrior is giving organizations a chance to fight back.

ThreatWarrior, a leader in AI-powered cyber defense, and Moffitt Cancer Center, the only Florida-based National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, announced today a collaboration agreement to improve cybersecurity for health care organizations.

The two industry leaders will work together to develop ThreatWarrior features and functionalities so that organizations can quickly mitigate and defend the deluge of cyber threats and other vulnerabilities.

“Cybercrime is the cancer of the digital age and ThreatWarrior is giving organizations a chance to fight back,” said Pete Slade, founder and CEO at ThreatWarrior. “The potential of this partnership is enormous, and we are proud to be working with such a highly-regarded institution as Moffitt in combating this growing issue.”

With cyberattacks increasing daily, it’s critical that high-value targets take advanced, proactive security measures to prevent breaches. This is especially true in the case of hospitals, medical offices and other health organizations, where compromised systems can cost much more than financial or reputation damage.

ThreatWarrior helps prevent these losses by combining machine learning with network and behavioral analysis to identify anomalies. It autonomously identifies and neutralizes cyber threats by delivering a Cyber Immune Response™ modeled after the human immune system. The platform provides comprehensive protection from all cyberattacks including zero-day exploits, ransomware, insider and unknown attacks.

As part of the strategic collaboration agreement, Moffitt’s Cyber Operations will collaborate with ThreatWarrior application developers to constantly improve the product.

“Because of the constant cyber threats to health care operations, teams need new and innovative measures to swiftly address them,” said Dave Summitt, Moffitt’s chief information security officer. “ThreatWarrior has the potential to significantly impact the defense of cyberattacks and how threats are handled by health care security teams.”

About ThreatWarrior

ThreatWarrior is lowering global cybercrime by democratizing advanced cybersecurity, making it possible for all organizations to defend themselves. The cybersecurity platform combines adaptive AI, network traffic and behavior analytics, incident forensics and response in a single solution to protect businesses from constantly-evolving cyberattacks. With ThreatWarrior, businesses can predict and eliminate cyber threats before they’ve caused damage. EKU Online Psychology Program Adds Applied Behavior Analysis Degree

EKU Online Logo

EKU is launching an online master’s degree program in psychology for those interested in applied behavior analysis.

This degree is the next step toward a broad range of career options for EKU graduates, such as helping children with autism, counseling those affected by the opioid crisis or providing support for the growing senior citizen population.

Eastern Kentucky University has a new online graduate program in psychology with a concentration in applied behavior analysis. There are two paths to completion, to accommodate students seeking a master’s degree and students who already hold a master’s degree in an associated field. Both the degree and certificate options provide students with coursework needed to pursue their Board Certified Behavior Analyst credential, positioning them to help fill a need for behavioral healthcare in Kentucky and surrounding states.

“This degree is the next step toward a broad range of career options for EKU graduates, such as helping children with autism, counseling those affected by the opioid crisis or providing support for the growing senior citizen population,” explained Robert Brubaker, Ph.D., chair of the psychology department.

Behavior analysts work in any setting where a behavior change is needed. They often find employment in schools, residential facilities, corrections facilities and substance abuse rehabilitation hospitals.

EKU’s curriculum is endorsed as a Verified Course Sequence by the Association for Behavior Analysis International, which means program graduates will have completed the educational requirement for taking the BCBA exam.

Students can earn the master’s degree in as quickly as 15 months. Those who already have a master’s degree in psychology, education or behavior analysis can earn a certificate in one year.

Myra Beth Bundy, Ph.D., program coordinator and professor, is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst. Having completed the BCBA exam herself, she looks forward to supporting students as they work toward their own credentials. “There are a lot of people in our communities who want to make a difference. Our goal is to give them the education and mentorship needed to achieve that,” she said.

The online ABA program is designed for the working professional with no campus visits required. The GRE is waived for those who have an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Courses are taught in convenient 8-week terms. EKU Online has a strong reputation for student support services, which include personalized advising, direct access to instructors and free one-on-one tutoring sessions.

Applications are now being accepted for the spring term. For more information about the EKU Online degree or certificate option in applied behavior analysis, visit https://go.eku.edu/ABAonline.

New Luminaires Designed For Patient Comfort, Not Just Safety

Symmetry 23" luminaire above a behavioral health bed

Symmetry can be specified for patient overbed as well as more general areas like dayrooms and nurse stations.

Most published standards for behavioral health design now consider aesthetics to be a crucial factor in quality of care.

Visa Lighting’s “Symmetry” family has been on the market since 2016, with 23” and 45” diameter models designed specifically for patient overbed, general use, and tunability. Symmetry’s round, recessed ceiling luminaires feature a patented concave dome in the center of the lens that creates a beautiful ambient glow. This simple form factor allows lighting designers to use organic shapes and draw the eye to particular areas—without focusing on the luminaire itself.

Because they treat patients whose symptoms may include aggression or suicidal ideation, behavioral health facilities require a higher level of environmental safety precautions. Luminaires in patient areas must be tamper-resistant, ligature-resistant, and impact-resistant so that they do not pose a threat when damaged or combined with other objects.

Visa Lighting’s new Symmetry models are tested to IK10+ standards, which means they can withstand over 100 joules of mechanical impact. They are constructed with an additional 3/16” polycarbonate lens, which is fastened behind the minimal frame with tamper-resistant screws. Each model can be installed flush to the drywall/sheetrock ceiling, and recessed 5-7”.

However, safety isn’t the only concern. Behavioral health facility design (whether hospital units or inpatient psychiatric centers) has shifted dramatically in the last decade. In addition to safety, most published standards for behavioral health design now consider aesthetics to be a crucial factor in quality of care:

  • The New York State Office of Mental Health’s safety standards guide lists “Therapeutic Environment and Appearance” as a secondary criteria for product evaluation.
  • In 2012, Ulrich et al. found that a “home-like design” can decrease patient aggression.
  • The Behavioral Health Design Guide published by BHFC states that “Behavioral health units and facilities should be designed to appear comfortable, attractive, and as residential in character as possible.”

Behavioral healthcare evolved from symptom control to evidence-based care that focuses on personal recovery. More studies accumulate every year that demonstrate how therapeutic environments can have a positive effect on patient experience and help reduce the stigma surrounding behavioral health treatment.

Because elements in most areas of inpatient behavioral health facilities must be safe, luminaire design has traditionally been more institutional-looking. Now, thanks to more sophisticated manufacturing processes and the small footprint of LEDs, Visa Lighting’s engineers are able to craft behavioral health luminaires that look more home-like and minimalist—while still passing vigorous safety tests.

Symmetry is a prime example. A crucial part of adapting this family’s design for behavioral health was retaining characteristics that made it suitable for high-end commercial spaces in the first place. The tamper-resistant screws that fasten the frame and lenses to the ceiling structure are barely visible and painted with the same finish as the frame. This keeps the aesthetic as minimalist as possible. The outer frame was redesigned with a marginal increase in thickness. Additionally, the outer polycarbonate lens is completely clear, which allows the inner acrylic lens to produce the same illumination effect.

About Visa Lighting:

Visa Lighting’s mission is to forge bold, exceptional experiences through progression and creative collaboration. That’s why their performance architectural lighting products are designed, manufactured and assembled by skilled craftspeople in Milwaukee, WI. Decades of manufacturing expertise qualify Visa Lighting to promote responsible innovations in lighting technology, creating opportunities to protect the natural environment while sustaining wellbeing in the built environment. Visa Lighting is an Oldenburg Group company.

Pro-life Ministry Save the Storks Delivers 49th and 50th Mobile Medical Units

Stork Bus New Jersey 50th Stork Bus Mobile Medical Unit Save the Storks

50th Stork Bus Delivered to Calvary Chapel in Old Bridge, NJ

“Going mobile is the most effective strategy to reach women with unplanned pregnancies. 4 out of 5 women who board a Stork Bus choose life for their baby when given an opportunity to hear their baby’s heartbeat and see their baby on an ultrasound.”

This month, pro-life ministry Save the Storks delivered its 49th and 50th mobile medical units (MMU) to pregnancy resource centers in Georgia and New Jersey.

These MMUs, also known as Stork Buses, are state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Sprinter vans. The vans are equipped with an exam table, counseling area, TV screens and space for ultrasound and sonogram equipment. They allow pregnancy resource centers to take their life-saving services on the road.

The 49th bus, named Benjamin, arrived in Georgia on Sept. 11. The bus is owned and operated by the Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center in Fayetteville, GA.

“We decided to go mobile because we were looking for a way to reach more women in our community,” said Luci Hough, executive director of Fayette Pregnancy Resource Center. “We want to go out into the community where women most need our help.”

This bus was named in memory of Jim and Ashley Murray’s son, Benjamin, who they lost last year shortly after he was born.

“This bus reminds us of the value, importance and significance of celebrating life,” said Jim Murray. “That’s what the team at Save the Storks has provided for our family.”

Bus number 50, the Hannah Bus, has its own unique story. It arrived at the Bridge Women’s Center in Old Bridge, NJ on Oct 1.

The person who donated funds for the bus chose to have it named after Hannah from 1 Samuel in the Bible. In the Old Testament story, Hannah cried out to God for a child, and God answered her prayer.

Bridge Women’s Center’s Executive Director Debbie Biskey said, “Going mobile is the most effective strategy to reach women with unplanned pregnancies. 4 out of 5 women who board a mobile pregnancy center choose life for their baby when given an opportunity to hear their baby’s heartbeat and see their baby on an ultrasound.”

The Hannah Bus is the result of a partnership between the women’s center and a local church, Calvary Old Bridge. This is Save the Storks’ first church partnership.

Lloyd Pulley, Senior Pastor of Calvary Old Bridge, said, “Our church saw a need to get resources to women who need it most. We couldn’t sit still as we saw what was happening with abortion in this country.”

Currently, seven Stork Buses are in production and set for delivery over the next year. Seven more pregnancy resource centers are working with us to fundraise for a bus.

Save the Storks will host pro-life supporters at the Third Annual Stork Charity Ball in Washington, DC on Jan. 23, 2020, the night before the March for Life. Tickets are available at https://savethestorks.com/stork-ball/

##

Save the Storks‘ mission is to revolutionize the meaning of pro-life by partnering with pregnancy resource centers across the United States to empower women with choice during pregnancy. Save the Storks, known for their custom state-of-the-art Mercedes-Benz Sprinter mobile medical units, also called Stork Buses, is helping to change hearts and minds with compelling social media and awareness campaigns, unique events and direct support to PRCs who provide much needed resources and outreach programs to mothers facing an unplanned pregnancy. To date, Save the Storks has built 50 Stork Buses. Four out of five women who board a Stork Bus choose life, with an estimated 7,000 babies’ lives saved as 2019 comes to a close.

Sharon Kleyne Supports Life-Saving Floating Medical Clinics On Kleyne Talk Radio

https://www.prweb.com/

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua® Research

Date aired: September 30th, 2019

Guest: Juan M. Montero, II, MD, FACS, Founder Montero Medical Missions, Chesapeake, Virginia http://www.monteromedicalmissions.org

Sharon Kleyne supports the global efforts of Montero Medical Missions and its new Floating Medical Clinics in the Philippines, as well as the organizations commitment to teaching new water research and technology. Kleyne also wants Montero and all doctors to commit to asking their patients how much water they’re drinking every day. Kleyne’s view is that too many doctors take water for granted.

“I’ve been studying water and water evaporation for thirty-five years,” says Kleyne. “I decided not to write the book. Like Dr. Juan M. Montero, I decided to do something about the world’s water crisis, so I founded Bio Logic Aqua® Research Water Life Science® where we study water and evaporation.”

Like Kleyne, Dr. Montero, a retired surgeon who founded Montero Medical Missions in July, 2011, believes that “education is the key to health and success.” Montero’s purpose in creating Montero Medical Missions was to organize sustainable projects that serve people in rural areas, migrant workers and their families, and people who cannot afford adequate health insurance.

Montero’s current new project is a GoFundMe® initiative he has organized with Vincent Medina. The fundraising initiative of tax-deductible donations will support floating medical clinics between the many islands of Montero’s native Philippines. If you would like to contribute to this cause, go here. http://www.monteromedicalmissions.org/floating-medical-clinic-go-fundme/

In addition to providing medical care for immigrant men, women and children from Asia and Central America, Montero’s floating medical clinics teach healthcare and the importance of water to a healthy life. “It is just common sense that everyone be hydrated,” says Montero.

Kleyne, host of her internationally syndicated weekly talk radio program, The Sharon Kleyne Hour Water Life Science®/Nature’s Pharma®, The Power of Water® & Your Health sponsored by Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® on VoiceAmerica, Sharon Kleyne, teaches that people are like walking batteries. “Do you know that you are walking water?” she asks her radio audience rhetorically. Kleyne also praises Montero and his Montero Medical Clinics for treating eye diseases of so many children. “Blindness and dry eye are out of control around the world,” says Kleyne. “We need better water research and education about water and evaporation of body water vapor.”

Kleyne teaches people around the world that they must learn to drink at least eight-to-ten glasses of water every day for proper hydration. “Glasses of water should be drunk all at once,” says Kleyne, “for the benefits of maximum absorption. No sipping! You wouldn’t water a plant by giving it a sip! Sipping water and drinking ice water are not effective because the body doesn’t fully absorb the water.”

If you would like to listen to a conversation with Dr. Juan M. Montero, founder of Montero Medical Missions and floating medical clinics and Health Olympics inventor, advocate for new water education and research and international evaporation researcher Sharon Kleyne about Montero Medical Missions, floating medical clinics, drinking water to improve health, drinking water to gain maximum benefits of medication, water research and education, follow this link: https://www.voiceamerica.com/episode/117618/heal-the-world-floating-medical-clinic

TGA Premier Sports Expands into 76th U.S. Market with new chapter on California’s Central Coast

https://www.prweb.com/

Through TGA’s dynamic curriculum, we will incorporate station-based athletic skill development activities, STEAM Labs to explore educational concepts through sports, and key life lessons

TGA Premier Sports (TGA), the leading force introducing youth sports into schools and communities through programs that combine athletics and academics, continues its nationwide expansion into its 76th U.S. market, California’s Central Coast. On pace to enroll its one-millionth participant by 2020, TGA’s youth sports “delivery system” is helping strengthen families and communities and reverse trends of declining youth sports participation in cities across the country leading to healthier lifestyles.

TGA’s sustainable, scalable model of before- and after-school enrichment programs and local sports camps has become one of the nation’s most impactful developers of community-based sports programs for kids ages five to 13.

TGA Premier Sports Central Coast in Ventura County, Calif. was launched by Kristin Hatfield, a local executive, inventor, entrepreneur, working mom of two kids and lifelong athlete, as a way to give back to the community that helped shaped her passion for sports and its many rewards.

Hatfield, who holds a Bachelor of Science in Business and Economics degree from Humboldt State University, has been the owner and operator of a river rafting company, an environmental consultant, a regional sales manager in the medical billing industry and vice president of sales in convention services. She is also owner and inventor of EquiptBaby, creator of the Comfy Canopy, a collapsible, portable bassinet that weighs less than an ounce.

Having seen the impact and successful engagement TGA has had in other communities, Hatfield recently decided it was her time to give back. “TGA is a community of people who are giving back to our youth in our local communities. I want to show up and be there with the children,” she says. “I want to be the first person who puts a golf club or tennis racquet in a child’s hands or teaches them to dig a volleyball. I want TGA programs to be the best part of their day. The feeling of accomplishment through sports has no comparison!”

TGA Premier Sports Central Coast offers TGA Premier Golf, Tennis, Ultimate and Volleyball and will also be the first TGA Chapter to offer a Beach Volleyball curriculum. “This past summer, with the support of my local beach HOA, I did a soft opening for TGA Central Coast and hosted a Beach Volleyball camp. The TGA volleyball curriculum is awesome and I just made some slight tweaks to incorporate the sand. The diving drill was the kids’ favorite along with serving into the target for points,” Hatfield says.

Hatfield’s territory includes the coastal communities in Ventura County. “We’re coordinating with Los Olivios Golf Course and the School’s PTA to organize a fundraiser that incorporates families playing golf together and raises funds for the PTA at local schools in the Ventura Unified School District,” she says. The chapter will also be hosting its first Fall Break Tennis Camp on the courts of a local high school in October.

With Hatfield’s new franchise, thousands of youngsters will be impacted in and around California’s Central Coast. “When children engage in sports, they begin to build and nurture skills that allow them to strive to become our future leaders. Through TGA’s dynamic curriculum, we will incorporate station-based athletic skill development activities, STEAM Labs to explore educational concepts through sports, and key life lessons including teamwork, sportsmanship, perseverance, and leadership,” she adds.

TGA impacts communities by introducing sports that empower kids directly into schools and community centers through before- or after-school enrichment programs, spurring participation in a way that starts at the grassroots level but has national implications.

“Kristin Hatfield has incredible enthusiasm for her community, sports and how together they can change the lives of youth and families,” says TGA CEO Joshua Jacobs. “Using TGA’s blueprint will allow her to customize the local experience families will get through TGA programs. On the coast, beach volleyball is in the fabric of the culture, so it’s a natural that Kristin would take this new program offering and run with it. She’s going to be an amazing asset to the families in her community.”

TGA creates an accessible player pathway for students and their families to build on their new-found sports passion and advance further in the sports. From introductory programs, to recreational camps, clinics and family programs, engagement in these programs can lead to juniors playing on high school and college teams. With registration fees at less than $200, TGA’s six-week enrichment programs are also extremely affordable for families interested in starting their kids in a sports program.

TGA provides all of the equipment for kids at no cost in the program, including its own line of custom golf and tennis equipment to provide all players an affordable option to get into the sport. The program can also be utilized anywhere on school campuses regardless of weather, including gymnasiums, hallways, cafeterias, fields and blacktops.

Through donations that funds scholarships, the TGA Sports Foundation is enabling kids who wouldn’t otherwise take up the sport to learn and grow from it. “Our goal is to impact the development of a child’s sports career throughout all levels of the player pathway,” Jacobs says. “Introducing youth to sports and creating a passion is one thing, but engaging a child who exhibits talents and giving them the tools to grow continue on with a sport is more important.”

Families and schools nationwide have embraced the TGA model and its programs because it creates a healthier and safer environment for students at schools and community centers. The school-based curriculum includes tennis skill progression, education subjects and STEM/STEAM Labs, in addition to physical fitness and health components.

About TGA Premier Sports

HIPAA Breast Cancer Awareness

Laura Neidig, HIPAA subject matter expert at Compliancy Group states, “I’m so proud to be part of a company that acknowledges a cause that we’ve all been affected by in one way or another”

COMPLIANCY GROUP is deeply entrenched in the healthcare industry, helping healthcare organizations achieve HIPAA compliance, in turn helping their patients. Breast cancer is a terrible disease that affects so many people, as such Compliancy Group recognizes the need to spread awareness to further help patients.

This October, Compliancy Group is proud to participate in National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is one of the most common kinds of cancer in women after skin cancer. About 1 in 8 women born today in the United States will get breast cancer at some point.

Laura Neidig, HIPAA subject matter expert at Compliancy Group states, “I’m so proud to be part of a company that acknowledges a cause that we’ve all been affected by in one way or another”

The good news is that most women can survive breast cancer if it’s found and treated early.

If you are a woman age 40 to 49, talk with your doctor about when to start getting mammograms and how often to get them.

If you are a woman age 50 to 74, be sure to get a mammogram every 2 years. You may also choose to get them more often.

Talk to a doctor about your risk for breast cancer, especially if a close family member of yours had breast or ovarian cancer. Your doctor can help you decide when and how often to get mammograms.

Compliancy group’s Seal of Compliance will be colored pink for the month of October; the Seal validates and verifies an organization’s “good faith effort” towards HIPAA compliance. A portion of proceeds for the month of October will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.
