Sekonic Corporation Announces Firmware Update for SPECTROMASTER C-800-U

News Image

The C‐800-U SPECTROMASTER is the industry-leading handheld spectrometer for cinematographers and photographers around the world. Sekonic strives to keep this meter on the cutting edge of technology and works with top lighting manufacturers, standards organizations and organizations such as The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Science and Technology Council to keep the C‐800-U the most relevant tool for cinematographers and photographers.

The newest firmware will update the TM‐30 metric from TM‐30‐15 to TM‐30‐18, which Rf is identical with Rf of CIE 224:2017, international standard. This is a standard that many feel will replace CRI (Ra) as a more accurate way to measure the color fidelity (Rf) because TM‐30 measures 99 colors chosen from more than 100,000 measured objects vs CRI’s 8 colors. TM‐30 also measures gamut (Rg) which helps the user better understand how saturated colors will look.

This recent firmware update also shows the CCT, LB and CC properties of a preset when chosen in the Tool Box under the Preset Selection menu.

C-800-U firmware update can be done by C-800-U Utility, downloadable from the Sekonic website: GO NOW

Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista Auction Featuring Special Bottlings Designed by Celebrated Artist Shirin Neshat Raises $312,000

News Image

Ornellaia CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja presents a check to Richard Armstrong, Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation at the Vendemmia d’Artista 2016 “La Tensione” Auction

“The appreciation of great wines, as well as the enjoyment of art, requires the involvement of all the senses, and that’s why we decided to support a high-value project like “Mind’s Eye”, declared Ornellaia’s CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja

One of Italy’s most highly regarded estates, Ornellaia, is pleased to announce that on September 13 at the headquarters of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in the spectacular Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, a ceremony was held to marked the conclusion of the Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista 2016 “La Tensione” online auction, hosted by Sotheby’s. The initiative, conceived by Ornellaia in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, made it possible to collect $312,000 with profits entirely allocated to the “Mind’s Eye” program.

The “Mind’s Eye” program, conceived by the Guggenheim’s education department, helps blind and visually impaired people to experience art through the use of all the senses. This promotes the development of creative impressions, emotional connections and memories, the perception of which lasts over time. As in art, the appreciation of great wines requires the involvement of all the senses. The sharing of this idea has led Ornellaia to support the growth of this particular program. The donations collected through Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista project enable the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation to further develop the activities of the “Mind’s Eye” program with the aim of spreading the model to other art institutions, ensuring that its excellence continues to guide the museum’s programing for the blind and visually impaired throughout the world.

During the closing ceremony of the auction, which gave bidders the chance to win nine precious 6-liter Imperials and the only 9-liter Salmanazar of Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista “La Tensione” 2016, designed by the internationally renowned artist Shirin Neshat, Ornellaia’s CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaia declared with satisfaction: “The appreciation of great wines, as well as the enjoyment of art, requires the involvement of all the senses, and that’s why we decided to support a high-value project like “Mind’s Eye”. In so doing, we are able to help adults with disabilities to experience art by means of activities which, through the use of the senses, provide a model of access to art that can be implemented worldwide and a legacy for future generations”. Words shared by Richard Armstrong, Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, who added: “The founding mission of the Guggenheim has been to collect and exhibit art that was not simply modern, not just new, but revolutionary. Thanks to Ornellaia, we are able involve an even wider public in this mission”.

Tension is the character chosen to define the wine produced by the 2016 grape harvest, a highly successful vintage which, according to Ornellaia’s Estate Director, Axel Heinz “highlights all the virtues of the climate of Bolgheri: abundant sunshine, not excessive heat, a dry summer which allows the grapes to reach a perfect level of ripeness,

concentration and sufficient rain to avoid water stress. All these elements combined allow us to obtain a perfectly mature and opulent wine, firm and intense; opposite forces create a sense of deep vigour which we like to call “tension”.

These are the notes on which Shirin Neshat worked to provide his interpretation of Tension. The artist was inspired by the Persian poet Omar Khayyām, who claimed that wine should be “enjoyed during our short time on earth”. This theme is shared using elements of Middle Eastern culture such as female faces, hands and bodies decorated with Persian calligraphy and henna decorations in continuity with the poetics of the artist.

About Ornellaia – http://www.ornellaia.com

Ornellaia’s philosophy considers the birth of the wines to be the truest expression of their terroir. The grapes for Ornellaia are selected by hand, and picked in the estate’s vineyards in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast. The varying natures of the estate’s terroirs, marine, alluvial and volcanic, are ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Estate extends over 115 hectares along the Tuscan coast, just a short distance from the medieval hamlet of Bolgheri and the famed cypress-lined avenue ‘Viale dei Cipressi’. The constant work of the Ornellaia team and the ideal microclimatic and geological characteristics have brought the wines great international success since the first vintage of Ornellaia in 1985. In 2001, the 1998 Ornellaia was declared Wine of the Year by the American journal Wine Spectator. In 2011 the German publication Der Feinschmecker awarded Ornellaia its most sought-after award, the ‘Weinlegende’. Ornellaia has received considerable recognition in the national and international press, and is consistently ranked among the top estates by Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, James Suckling, Antonio Galloni, Bruce Sanderson and the Italian Wine Guides: Gambero Rosso, Espresso, and Veronelli.

About Vendemmia d’Artista

The Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista project celebrates the exclusive character of each new Ornellaia vintage. Every year, starting with the release of Ornellaia 2006 in May 2009, a contemporary artist has signed a work of art and a series of limited edition labels, drawing inspiration from a word chosen by the winemaker and which describes the character of the new vintage.

The project provides that in each case of Ornellaia, one of the six bottles (750 ml) bears the label created by the artist. As in previous years, the project includes a limited edition of 111 large-size bottles (one hundred 3-litre Double Magnums, ten 6-litre Imperial bottles and one 9-litre Salmanazar) numbered and signed personally by the artist. Every year a selection of these bottles with exclusive labels, designed and signed personally by the artist and extremely sought after by art and wine collectors, are auctioned at SOTHEBY’S, for both charity and commercial purposes; the proceeds are donated to art foundations around the world. From ORNELLAIA 2006 to the present day, a total of over two million dollars has been shared out between the Whitney Museum in New York, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan, the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, the H2 Foundation in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the Royal Opera House in London, the AGO Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.

https://www.prweb.com/

Jazzercise On Demand

Jazzercise, Inc., the company that pioneered aerobic dance fitness and became a global phenomenon, has launched its most contemporary and exciting initiative: Jazzercise On Demand. This app and web-based platform houses the global fitness leader’s first-ever on-demand exercise video subscription service and furthers Jazzercise’s commitment to making physical fitness accessible for everyone. Now, consumers can experience Jazzercise’s proven, effective and fun workout from wherever is most convenient – the living room, garage, home gym, or while traveling. This foray into virtual exercise instruction provides a solution for customers across the country who want access to Jazzercise, but may not live in proximity to a studio or center.

Jazzercise On Demand features exclusive new video content in 10, 20, 30 and 40-minute sessions. The videos offer a variety of choreography targeting all muscle groups and types of workouts, such as cardio, strength training, restorative and more. Jazzercise On Demand will release new video content each week to ensure subscribers can experience the same variety that in-studio consumers are provided. The videos are hosted by select Jazzercise “FitPro” instructors, including Jazzercise President, Shanna Missett Nelson.

“It has always been our goal to make physical fitness as enjoyable and accessible as possible. We are so excited to launch a platform that broadens our community, reengages those who may no longer have access to a studio, and allows Jazzercisers to keep up the great work wherever they are,” said Missett Nelson. “We are thrilled to supplement our fantastic franchises with this new streaming service.”

Jazzercise on Demand will be available for $19.99/month or $195/year on the Jazzercise On Demand website, or $19.99/month on the app, available in the App Store for iPhone, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV Stick and Roku. Jazzercise Insiders, those who operate franchises, or who already have a recurring Jazzercise studio membership, will be able to purchase a subscription for $12.99/month.

This new release comes one month before the brand’s 50th anniversary, celebrating Founder and CEO Judi Sheppard Missett’s first classical jazz dance class that she transformed into the upbeat, dance cardio workout that changed the fitness industry. Before Missett, the common belief was that exercise was the domain of men. She disrupted this attitude by creating the heart-pumping choreographed class that has since grown into a global empire.

In the wake of the brand’s growing popularity, in 1982, Jazzercise became the first fitness program to franchise as a means of expanding. In the last 50 years, the single class of 15 women has expanded into 32,000 classes per week across 8,500 franchises worldwide. The release of Jazzercise On Demand further demonstrates Jazzercise’s ingenuity, continuing to evolve the program in ways that make physical fitness accessible and fun.

Northern Westchester Hospital Psychiatrist Offers Tips For Reading Red Flags For College Student Mental Health Issues

https://www.prweb.com/

Dr. Richard Catanzaro, chairman of psychiatry at Northern Westchester Hospital and director of its Behavioral Health College Partnership

“Unfortunately, parents often don’t know something is going on until they get a call from their child’s roommate, or when they see their child’s grades at the end of the semester,” says Dr. Richard Catanzaro, chairman of psychiatry at Northern Westchester Hospital.

With the beginning of the fall college semester, many parents worry about their child’s ability to cope. Today’s college students face much higher rates of serious mental illness than in the past. In addition to higher rates of stress and anxiety, suicide has become the second leading cause of death on campus.

“Unfortunately, parents often don’t know something is going on until they get a call from their child’s roommate who read something on Facebook, or when they see their child’s grades at the end of the semester and find out their child failed or withdrew,” says Dr. Richard Catanzaro, chairman of psychiatry at Northern Westchester Hospital and director of its Behavioral Health College Partnership.

“When parents live far away, they are often in the dark as their child’s mental health declines, but there are red flags to look for and ways to help,” he adds.

Here are some things parents need to know…

College students are more vulnerable to serious mental illness due to the added stress of a new environment and new expectations, right when they’ve left their support system behind. College students have more freedom, but the lack of structure can be daunting. Socially and sexually, they’re still figuring out who they are, while the prevalence of substance abuse on college campuses, particularly marijuana and alcohol, can trigger mental illness in someone with a predisposition.

College students are suffering from depression, extreme anxiety, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia. Schizophrenia’s first episode commonly occurs in the late teens, coinciding with the early college years. It is believed that intense stress can be among the triggers of the disease in people genetically susceptible.

The rate of attempted and completed suicide on college campuses is rising – it’s the second leading cause of death among college students. Untreated depression is the major cause. Substance abuse facilitates suicide attempts by lowering inhibitions.

Be aware of signs that something may be wrong: Are there changes in your child’s behavior? If your child texts you nearly every day, and then you don’t hear from them for three days, there might be something going on. Does your child sound different – less open? Have they gained or lost a lot of weight? Stopped grooming themselves?

Keep lines of communication open: Your relationship with your child in college will echo the one you had with them in high school. Be open about your concerns and ask what you can do to make the transition from home to college easier. Even if the conversation is one-sided, let your child know you are there for them and available if they are having a problem.

Establish a regular communication schedule: To avoid communication black-outs, establish a schedule with your child before they leave home. Agree to text every three or four days, and let them know that you will worry if you don’t hear from them. Once they are at school don’t communicate with your child’s friends behind their back. That will erode trust, which is vital as you monitor how they’re doing.

If your gut tells you something is wrong, be transparent. Say, “You don’t sound like yourself. What’s going on?” If they insist they’re fine and tell you not to visit, assert yourself as the parent: “I’m sorry. I’m paying for this. I’m coming up.”

If you think there could be a real danger, call the campus health services and safety services, and visit immediately. Be proactive. What’s the worst that can happen? Your kid has a tantrum and slams the door in your face? After they get over their anger, they’ll understand that you are there for them. It’s a misconception that if you upset your child, they’ll cut you out of their life. Even if that happens, it usually doesn’t last long. The converse is worse – not giving them enough support.

While campus mental health services are becoming more robust, they often don’t offer enough. It’s very common for parents to seek off-campus treatment. Being proactive as a parent and as a school is best. Students who receive treatment at the start of a mental illness, are more likely to get better faster and return to school. When illnesses are caught early, and students receive proper support, they can get back on track. In those cases, you’ve not only fixed the acute problem, you’ve gotten them into treatment and given them a structure that will help them continue to do well in school, whether that’s individual therapy or medication, or both.

Sureify Hires Former Guidewire Lead as Vice President of Product

Sureify, the leading digital platform for life and annuity insurance, continues to fortify its executive management with its latest new hire: Luis Diaz, Vice President of Product. As the former principal product manager at Guidewire, Diaz played a pivotal role in Guidewire’s success growing to hundreds of P&C clients worldwide. Can he do the same for Sureify in life and annuity? Sureify’s C-suite is confident he can.

“I like to take on complex problems, simplify, build products, then bring them to market,” says Diaz, a 20-year veteran in fintech enterprise software and product management. “We want to take the lessons learned in property and casualty, and apply them to next-generation systems for life insurance engagement apps.”

Diaz’s success at Guidewire—coupled with his experience as CEO of the consultancy firm BeyondRoadmap—has shaped his expertise in developing and scaling exceptional software products. He’s worked on platforms that manage sales, file claims, and handle billing—from initial vision to delivery.

As Sureify’s first Vice President of Product, Diaz will lead three major goals:

  • Making the product more scalable in order to increase Sureify’s customer base
  • Enabling faster implementation
  • Continuing to provide a unique white-label experience to life insurers without disruptions

“We’ll introduce more processes in order to scale and introduce features faster over time,” he says.

From a big picture perspective, Diaz aims to help the life and annuity industry transform with Sureify at the forefront. He’ll work on improving products to scale for next-gen systems. Additionally, he’ll work on strengthening customer engagement and boosting new customer self-service features like billing, claims, and account information changes.

Diaz came highly recommended by his former Guidewire coworker, Dan Gordon, now Product Strategist and Executive Advisor at Sureify. Together, they built Guidewire to more than 250 customers and plan to take Sureify on a similar evolutionary course. Gordon leads product strategy, and Diaz will lead the product team.

“Luis will definitely make a big impact when it comes to our product, partnerships and vendor relationships,” Sureify CEO Dustin Yoder says. “We know his expertise will help Sureify ultimately service hundreds of life and annuity insurers. He’ll definitely be an important part of modernizing life insurance.”

About Sureify

In a world where customer experience is everything, Sureify helps life insurers meet their customers on their own terms. The fast-growing insurtech developed the Lifetime technology platform, which delivers user-friendly native mobile and web experiences. Xtalks Life Science Webinars

In recent years, pharmacometrics has emerged as an invaluable modeling and simulation tool that helps to de-risk and accelerate the drug development process.

Join Felix Boakye-Agyeman, MD PhD and Rakesh Gollen, PhD, both Directors of Pharmacokinetics at Synteract in a live session on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11am EDT (4pm BST/UK) to learn about the importance of applications of pharmacometrics tools throughout the drug development pipeline.

The cost of a new drug from discovery to launch is approaching $3 billion with the underlying time for development reaching up to 12 years. Given the costly and lengthy process, scientific and regulatory leaders in the pharmaceutical industry need to leverage all available tools to get drugs approved quickly and efficiently, bringing safe and efficacious medications for human needs.

In recent years, pharmacometrics has emerged as an invaluable modeling and simulation tool that helps to de-risk and accelerate the drug development process. It facilitates the integration of preclinical/clinical development data and provides a scientifically based framework for designing a rationale dosage regimen and treatment optimization. There are several pharmacometrics techniques that can be elicited at various stages in the drug development pipeline to help make the approval process more efficient and get the most efficacious doses with increased safety for all patients, including special populations.

This webinar will be suitable for senior level managers and executives, plus scientists and researchers working within clinical affairs, R&D, clinical operations, regulatory affairs and medical affairs.

Critical Access and Rural Hospitals work endlessly to positively impact the lives of their communities. Sensato’s CARH program is committed to providing an end-to-end cybersecurity solution.

Sensato Cybersecurity announces the release of a comprehensive cybersecurity solution for Critical Access and Rural Hospitals that provides an integrated security platform covering servers, networks, and medical devices. Sensato’s Critical Access and Rural Health (CARH) solution encompasses 24×7 monitoring through the Sensato Cybersecurity Tactical Operations Center (CTOC), threat intelligence management, policy, governance, and best practices as well as intrusion detection and deception technologies. Through the CARH program, Sensato aims to provide a no-compromise and cost-effective cybersecurity solution that meets the IT and financial goals of the Critical Access and Rural Hospital community.

Traditionally healthcare-specific solutions can require significant resources and time, which ultimately lead to additional costs for healthcare organizations, Sensato CARH was designed for quick and easy deployment. “The foundation of CARH is the Sensato Nightingale™ platform. In developing Nightingale™, we worked hard to assure a rapid deployment methodology which then allows Sensato to provide its end to end management solution allowing the hospital IT resources to focus on existing priorities” stated Usha Vedantam, Sensato-CARH Product Manager.

“Critical Access and Rural Hospitals work endlessly to positively impact the lives of their communities. Sensato’s CARH program is committed to providing a comprehensive solution allowing the hospital IT Department to assure all technologies required by clinicians to provide patient care remain uncompromised at all times” explained Jon Wolk, Vice President of Business Development for Sensato.
