The ISA Foundation strives to provide healthy nutrition and support for underserved children, wellness education for all, and aid for those affected by natural disasters.

The ISA Foundation is accepting grant applications from U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations that can help the foundation provide healthy nutrition and support for underserved children, wellness education for all, and aid for those affected by natural disasters. Nonprofits can apply online. The deadline is Oct. 15.

The ISA Foundation expects to award single-year or multiyear grants in amounts of up to $150,000 per year. Recipients will be notified in December and announced at the Isagenix International New Year Kick Off 2020 event in January in Phoenix, Arizona. Isagenix is the global health and wellness company that operates the foundation.

The ISA Foundation awarded its first two rounds of grants, totaling more than $1.8 million, to 51 U.S.-based nonprofits earlier this year.

“There are so many fantastic nonprofits in the U.S. who share our commitment to ensuring that every person can live a healthy life and every family can recover from natural disasters,” said Isagenix Chief Executive Officer Travis Ogden. “We’ve been privileged to partner with several dozen already, and we look forward to funding even more so we can best serve people in communities around the world.”

The ISA Foundation launched in August 2018 as the Isagenix Legacy Foundation. It changed its name in August 2019 to better reflect its three guiding principles:

  • Inspire: Inspire generosity and positive change by paying it forward.
  • Share: Give a helping hand. Everyone can do their share.

Mario Lemieux Foundation, Highmark Health Establish Research Fund in the Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology at Allegheny Health Network

“Our Foundation is committed to supporting important research and patient care, and we are pleased to give this gift that will help so many people in our community,” said Lemieux.

Commitment of $2 million aims to advance leading-edge care for patients with atrial fibrillation and other heart rhythm disorders

PITTSBURGH, Pa (September 16, 2019) – Representatives from the Mario Lemieux Foundation today joined Highmark Health and Allegheny Health Network (AHN) officials to announce a major investment in the health of patients with heart rhythm disorders. A $1 million gift from the Mario Lemieux Foundation, with matching funds from Highmark Health, will establish The Mario Lemieux Innovation and Research Fund in the Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) at AHN’s Cardiovascular Institute.

The $2 million investment by the Foundation and Highmark Health will support medical research and the development of innovative therapies and technologies for heart rhythm disorders, a cause close to the heart of Mario Lemieux, Foundation chairman, NHL Hall of Famer and Pittsburgh Penguins owner.

“Our Foundation is committed to supporting important research and patient care, and we are pleased to give this gift that will help so many people in our community,” said Lemieux.

Lemieux was diagnosed with a heart rhythm disorder called atrial fibrillation (Afib) in 2005 and guides his foundation by supporting important patient care and research in the region. The Foundation’s gift to AHN is its first to an adult cardiovascular program.

“Our mission is to create programs that improve the lives of western Pennsylvanians and to collaborate with organizations who share that commitment,” said Tom Grealish, president of the Mario Lemieux Foundation. “Allegheny Health Network’s Cardiovascular Institute is nationally recognized for its expertise in the treatment of heart and vascular disease, and we are excited to help further enhance its capabilities in the specialized care of heart rhythm disorders.”

In the United States, Afib is the most common heart rhythm disorder affecting more than six million people. The condition occurs when the two upper chambers of the heart quiver out of sync with the lower chambers causing less blood to be circulated throughout the body, elevating a patient’s risk of heart failure and stroke.

The funding from the Foundation and Highmark Health will help further establish AHN’s EP program as a center for innovative research into the cause and treatment of heart rhythm disorders with a particular focus on minimally invasive therapies for Afib. The funds will also support the use of advanced data systems to develop predictive algorithms that promote more efficient and effective care pathways for patients with cardiac arrhythmias.

“At Highmark Health, we take great pride in our legacy of service to the western Pennsylvania community and one of the key elements of our success through the years has been the many opportunities we have had to work with outstanding organizations like the Mario Lemieux Foundation to make our communities better, healthier places to live,” said David Holmberg, president and CEO of Highmark Health. “Together with the Foundation, we are extremely excited to establish the framework of a game changing program that will help mend and strengthen the hearts of our members and patients today, and well into the future.”

AHN’s flagship Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) is a leading referral center in Western Pennsylvania for advanced cardiovascular care and cardiovascular research, including clinical trials of new medications and technologies available only at the most specialized medical centers in the country. AHN’s community hospitals also have some of the best cardiovascular programs in the region with cardiologists and cardiothoracic surgeons who have led the way in transforming community-based cardiovascular care.

“We are immensely grateful to the Mario Lemieux Foundation and to Highmark Health for their generous support of our Cardiovascular Institute, their recognition of the quality and capabilities of our clinicians, their understanding of the importance of research and their confidence in our vision for transforming the treatment of heart rhythm disorders and other diseases of the heart and vascular system,” said Allie Quick, chief philanthropy officer at Allegheny Health Network.

AHN’s EP program has long been at the forefront of innovative techniques and technologies for treating heart rhythm disorders and similar heart conditions. Led by Amit Thosani, MD, director of the Cardiac Electrophysiology Division, the program was the first in the region to perform zero fluoroscopy ablation to treat Afib and other heart rhythm abnormalities, greatly improving the safety of a common procedure that uses radiofrequency energy to stabilize an irregular heartbeat. In collaboration with the Network’s advanced heart failure and cardiac surgery teams, the EP program was also a first in the region to perform mapping and ablation of ventricular tachycardia at the time of open heart surgery.

“As the U.S. population continues to age, the number of those diagnosed with atrial fibrillation is expected to increase to 12 million by 2030 so it’s important that our multidisciplinary cardiac teams continue to deliver treatments that improve outcomes and bring world-class care to our patients, close to home,” said Srinivas Murali, MD, chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine at Allegheny Health Network. “Thanks to the vision and generosity of organizations like the Mario Lemieux Foundation, our team can only further advance the development and implementation of more innovative diagnostic and minimally invasive solutions which benefit patients.”

Other faculty of the Division of Cardiac Electrophysiology who will play a role in work supported by fund include William Belden, MD, Chris Bonnet, MD, John Chenarides, MD, Mati Friehling, MD, Emerson Liu, MD, and George Shaw, MD.

“Exceptional clinical care and pioneering expertise in the study and treatment of complex cardiovascular diseases has been a hallmark of our Network, and its hospitals, for more than a century,” said George Magovern, MD, chair, AHN Cardiovascular Institute. “Patients with heart rhythm disorders in particular can be assured that the scope of resources available to them at Allegheny Health Network is second to none.”

Top Tips For Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online

News Image

Carinsuranceplan.org has released a new blog post that explains how drivers should compare car insurance quotes online in order to get better results.

For more info and free car insurance quotes, visit https://carinsuranceplan.org/top-tips-that-can-help-when-you-compare-car-insurance-quotes-online/

Car insurance quotes provide valuable information about the current status of the insurance market. They help drivers identify the best offers, no matter if the driver gets his first contract, renews it or switches the carrier. Comparing prices is the wise thing to do before purchasing coverage

The first thing to do before actually comparing prices is to determine the limits. A client must know what budget is available. Do some income calculus and determine how much money can be directed towards car insurance.

After that, select the suitable polices and their limits. For example, new cars should have comprehensive and collision coverage active. Check extra riders, like customized equipment coverage, roadside assistance, windshield repair and so on. Carefully note which extra riders should be bought and use them on every online questionnaire.

Identify the best insurance companies in the area. For that, drivers should use BBB standings, the local Department of Insurance website and consumer report websites. Check which companies have the best ratings and lowest complaint ratios.

Get quotes online. For that, the driver can use brokerage websites or every insurer’s website. No matter what website is used, there are few things to remember:

  • Use the same data on all websites
  • Provide correct information
  • Get quotes for exactly the same products, including the same extra riders
  • Use the same deductible levels

Do not be driven only by price. Although it is easy to sort quotes by price only, this might not be the most advantageous thing to do. Also check for available discounts, newcomer offers, loyalty programs, clients testimonials. It may take some time, but in the end, the client will obtain a really beneficial coverage contract.

TM‐30 also measures gamut (Rg) which helps the user better understand how saturated colors will look.

This recent firmware update also shows the CCT, LB and CC properties of a preset when chosen in the Tool Box under the Preset Selection menu.

Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista Auction Featuring Special Bottlings Designed by Celebrated Artist Shirin Neshat Raises $312,000

News Image

Ornellaia CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja presents a check to Richard Armstrong, Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation at the Vendemmia d’Artista 2016 “La Tensione” Auction

“The appreciation of great wines, as well as the enjoyment of art, requires the involvement of all the senses, and that’s why we decided to support a high-value project like “Mind’s Eye”, declared Ornellaia’s CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaja

One of Italy’s most highly regarded estates, Ornellaia, is pleased to announce that on September 13 at the headquarters of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in the spectacular Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, a ceremony was held to marked the conclusion of the Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista 2016 “La Tensione” online auction, hosted by Sotheby’s. The initiative, conceived by Ornellaia in collaboration with the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, made it possible to collect $312,000 with profits entirely allocated to the “Mind’s Eye” program.

The “Mind’s Eye” program, conceived by the Guggenheim’s education department, helps blind and visually impaired people to experience art through the use of all the senses. This promotes the development of creative impressions, emotional connections and memories, the perception of which lasts over time. As in art, the appreciation of great wines requires the involvement of all the senses. The sharing of this idea has led Ornellaia to support the growth of this particular program. The donations collected through Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista project enable the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation to further develop the activities of the “Mind’s Eye” program with the aim of spreading the model to other art institutions, ensuring that its excellence continues to guide the museum’s programing for the blind and visually impaired throughout the world.

During the closing ceremony of the auction, which gave bidders the chance to win nine precious 6-liter Imperials and the only 9-liter Salmanazar of Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista “La Tensione” 2016, designed by the internationally renowned artist Shirin Neshat, Ornellaia’s CEO, Giovanni Geddes da Filicaia declared with satisfaction: “The appreciation of great wines, as well as the enjoyment of art, requires the involvement of all the senses, and that’s why we decided to support a high-value project like “Mind’s Eye”. In so doing, we are able to help adults with disabilities to experience art by means of activities which, through the use of the senses, provide a model of access to art that can be implemented worldwide and a legacy for future generations”. Words shared by Richard Armstrong, Director of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum and Foundation, who added: “The founding mission of the Guggenheim has been to collect and exhibit art that was not simply modern, not just new, but revolutionary. Thanks to Ornellaia, we are able involve an even wider public in this mission”.

Tension is the character chosen to define the wine produced by the 2016 grape harvest, a highly successful vintage which, according to Ornellaia’s Estate Director, Axel Heinz “highlights all the virtues of the climate of Bolgheri: abundant sunshine, not excessive heat, a dry summer which allows the grapes to reach a perfect level of ripeness,

concentration and sufficient rain to avoid water stress. All these elements combined allow us to obtain a perfectly mature and opulent wine, firm and intense; opposite forces create a sense of deep vigour which we like to call “tension”.

These are the notes on which Shirin Neshat worked to provide his interpretation of Tension. The artist was inspired by the Persian poet Omar Khayyām, who claimed that wine should be “enjoyed during our short time on earth”. This theme is shared using elements of Middle Eastern culture such as female faces, hands and bodies decorated with Persian calligraphy and henna decorations in continuity with the poetics of the artist.

About Ornellaia – http://www.ornellaia.com

Ornellaia’s philosophy considers the birth of the wines to be the truest expression of their terroir. The grapes for Ornellaia are selected by hand, and picked in the estate’s vineyards in Bolgheri, on the Tuscan coast. The varying natures of the estate’s terroirs, marine, alluvial and volcanic, are ideal for the cultivation of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The Estate extends over 115 hectares along the Tuscan coast, just a short distance from the medieval hamlet of Bolgheri and the famed cypress-lined avenue ‘Viale dei Cipressi’. The constant work of the Ornellaia team and the ideal microclimatic and geological characteristics have brought the wines great international success since the first vintage of Ornellaia in 1985. In 2001, the 1998 Ornellaia was declared Wine of the Year by the American journal Wine Spectator. In 2011 the German publication Der Feinschmecker awarded Ornellaia its most sought-after award, the ‘Weinlegende’. Ornellaia has received considerable recognition in the national and international press, and is consistently ranked among the top estates by Wine Advocate, Wine Spectator, James Suckling, Antonio Galloni, Bruce Sanderson and the Italian Wine Guides: Gambero Rosso, Espresso, and Veronelli.

About Vendemmia d’Artista

The Ornellaia Vendemmia d’Artista project celebrates the exclusive character of each new Ornellaia vintage. Every year, starting with the release of Ornellaia 2006 in May 2009, a contemporary artist has signed a work of art and a series of limited edition labels, drawing inspiration from a word chosen by the winemaker and which describes the character of the new vintage.

The project provides that in each case of Ornellaia, one of the six bottles (750 ml) bears the label created by the artist. As in previous years, the project includes a limited edition of 111 large-size bottles (one hundred 3-litre Double Magnums, ten 6-litre Imperial bottles and one 9-litre Salmanazar) numbered and signed personally by the artist. Every year a selection of these bottles with exclusive labels, designed and signed personally by the artist and extremely sought after by art and wine collectors, are auctioned at SOTHEBY’S, for both charity and commercial purposes; the proceeds are donated to art foundations around the world. From ORNELLAIA 2006 to the present day, a total of over two million dollars has been shared out between the Whitney Museum in New York, the Poldi Pezzoli Museum in Milan, the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin, the H2 Foundation in Hong Kong and Shanghai, the Royal Opera House in London, the AGO Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto, the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York.
