Businesses Would Rather Lose Revenue Instead of Data, Logically Study Shows

News Image

Information technology is—more than ever—a business-critical component of the operations of small to midsize businesses. However, even while recognizing the vital role information technology plays, businesses are under-investing in IT, according to the 2019 Small and Midsize Business IT Study, commissioned by Logically, the leading provider of Managed IT Services to small and midsize organizations.

The survey revealed a staggering number of IT problems that companies struggle with—and what they’re doing (or not doing) about it. Probably the most shocking result, though, was that 60 percent of business decision makers (“BDMs”) would rather lose half their company’s revenue growth for next year than lose half their company’s data.

The majority of business decision makers recognize that IT is strategically and operationally critical, yet two-thirds of BDMs (66%) agree their companies’ investments in IT are not keeping pace with their growing technological needs.

Businesses are focused on implementing cloud technologies to streamline processes wherever possible, however the lack of expertise in specialized IT areas often is a major problem, particularly for businesses that have smaller staffs. Nearly half of BDMs (45%) agree their company does not have people with the right skills to get to where they want to be in cloud adoption.

The critical shortage of uniquely skilled professionals in the labor pool only magnifies the challenge of maintaining an internal IT staff. Business decision makers cite difficulty retaining IT staff (59%), difficulty recruiting and hiring IT staff (57%) and lack of time for strategic focus due to day-to-day technology issues (46%) as the biggest IT challenges. More than a third of BDMs (34%) see lack of IT skills in emerging areas such as cloud, mobility and security among the biggest challenges facing their IT staff.

In addition, the lack of IT expertise is a major problem for small to mid-size businesses when it comes to keeping their organizations running smoothly. Nearly half of companies (46%) admit it has taken 3 or more days to resolve an IT-related issue, due in part to the lack of specialized staff and deficient IT processes.

Based on the survey results, it’s also clear that businesses are exploring outsourced options to increase IT capabilities. Specifically, a third of companies (33%) currently outsource some of their IT activities and another 40% have plans to do so. The reasons cited in the study include the need for improved data security (58%), the reduction of system downtime (57%), along with reduced operation costs, improved customer experiences, improved productivity and increased revenue.

“Small and Midsize organizations are struggling to keep up with today’s business-critical information technology.” said Jeff Loeb, CMO of Logically. “Companies are searching for cost-effective ways to find qualified IT talent to handle the complexities of cloud migrations, explosive data growth, regulatory compliance and data security. That’s why businesses are increasingly turning to trusted IT managed service providers like Logically.”

Among the reasons that businesses have or plan to outsource IT activities, BDMs cite increased cyber security protection and reduced risk as the top benefit. Followed by more reliable system performance and uptime, and access to expertise. The survey also showed that 52% of BDMs are concerned about cloud security and 50% are worried about computer viruses and malware impacting their organizations.

From within the SMACs application, the PhoneFX application can be launched with a single button click enabling customers to access PhoneFX simply and quickly.

SMACS is capable of provisioning users and devices in seconds across your entire user base, while PhoneFX is ideal for remote control help desk, configuration, and training scenarios.

The combined SMACs and PhoneFX software can streamline business operations while providing the full scope of necessary provisioning and remote-control features, making it an excellent choice for Cisco user provisioning and Cisco phone management.

Phil Coll, co-founder and CEO of UnifiedFX, said “Bringing together SMACs and PhoneFX gives the very best of both worlds to our customers. It takes the time, complexity and cost out of the management equation.”

About Stack8

Stack8 aspires to deliver on the promise of Unified Communications. Today, the majority of companies that have transitioned to IP communications have effectively just bought an expensive phone system, yielding little business performance improvements. While the promise of digital communications is well-defined companies just can’t get there. There are numerous factors holding customers back, led by integrators/partners treating this move like any other project. Once the technology is installed, they move to the next project stranding the customer with a complicated and difficult to use the platform.

We built Stack8 to fight for our customers. We seek to get past the broken promises of integrators by building a pathway to digital communications while also adhering to disciplined IT processes. This quest requires a blend of creativity, passion, and experience so that our clients no longer have to accept the status quo.

Workout Anytime Celebrates 20 Years in Business by Offering $15,000 Franchise Fee Discount Through End of 2019

Since 1999, Workout Anytime has built a foundation on thinking big, keeping things simple and doing everything with integrity. Today, the fitness franchise brand has more than 175 clubs nationwide and ambitious plans for expansion. To mark its 20th year in business, Workout Anytime is reducing the $35,000 franchise fee down to $20,000 through the end of 2019.

Major accomplishments for the Workout Anytime brand over the years include meeting and surpassing the 100-unit mark, expanding throughout the United States and putting together a stellar executive team that includes COO Mark de Gorter, former CEO of Power Plate. Now, the brand is focused on growing even more, with plans to surpass the 500-unit mark over the next couple of years while still ensuring optimum quality and supporting franchisees.

“We have a strong system and we want to build successful franchises that are profitable,” said Workout Anytime President John Quattrocchi. “I see us going worldwide. In order for that to happen, we need to take on partners who understand this. In 10 to 15 years, Workout Anytime will be in the realm of 3,000-plus locations.”

Workout Anytime is currently targeting several Georgia cities for expansion and also wants to grow in key markets including Arizona, Florida, Virginia and Texas. Workout Anytime is also seeking franchisees in Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Workout Anytime got its start when CEO Steve Strickland and Quattrocchi brought together their respective experiences in the fitness industry. Quattrocchi owned a fitness center and partnered with Strickland, who sold athletic equipment.

“The Workout Anytime team is extremely thankful for the success our brand has had throughout the years,” said Quattrocchi. “We feel as if Workout Anytime is a gift that was given to us. For us, Workout Anytime was a culmination of both of our experiences. Plus, the time was right for a 24-hour club with access. What we tried to do was make it the best workout per square foot and we succeeded. The reception we first had in 1999 was excellent and we continue to have a positive response today.”

The brand took things to the next level in 2005 when Senior Vice President of Development Randy Trotter came on board to help Workout Anytime expand its franchise offering.

“We were fortunate to team up with Randy Trotter, who sold franchises before and is still having fun selling franchises for Workout Anytime,” Quattrocchi said. “Setting up a franchise system was a lot of hard work and today we are enjoying the fruits of our labor. We teach our franchisees everything we’ve learned since the beginning. Ultimately, Workout Anytime is not just about selling memberships—it’s about putting customers first and helping our franchisees become profitable.”

Texas ER Physician Lays Out Ways to Prevent Getting the Flu this Season, What to Do If You Catch the Bug, Gives a Free Chicken Soup Recipe

Dr. Ruby Rose, SignatureCare Emergency Center ER Physician

Dr. Ruby Rose, SignatureCare Emergency Center ER Physician

You should also seek emergency care if you are immunocompromised in any way or have a chronic medical condition in which the flu could worsen. If you would like to take an antiviral medication, you can make an appointment with your primary care provider or go to your local emergency center.

Most Texans are familiar with the routine – the thermometer drops and suddenly everyone around you is coughing and sniffling, but a Texas emergency room physician says your family doesn’t have to fall victim to the flu this time around.

Dr. Ruby Rose, a board-certified emergency room physician with SignatureCare Emergency Center, says there are steps families can take right now to prepare for the coming flu season, and keep themselves from the misery associated with the illness.

“Whether you are a medical professional, teacher or office worker, you will be exposed (to the flu virus) at some point during this winter,” Dr. Rose said.

To help families stay healthy, Dr. Rose has published a detailed article showing Texans how to protect themselves this flu season.

“This article will help you prepare your body’s best defense, your immune system, for not only the influenza virus, but all the other viruses that circulate during the winter months,” she wrote.

Among her recommendations are to follow the directive from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and get vaccinated today.

“The CDC recommends all people 6 months and older to receive a flu vaccination. This includes pregnant women and people with chronic health conditions,” she said.

She added that “there are various forms of the flu vaccine so speak to your medical provider about which type is best suited for you. People who have a severe egg allergy or a history of Guillain Barre´ Syndrome (GBS) should not receive the flu vaccine.”

For those who worry about the flu vaccine, Dr. Rose said getting vaccinated does not cause the flu.

“The vaccine cannot cause the flu because it is an ‘inactivated’ or killed form of the virus and it is typically made from a single gene rather than the full virus. The main purpose of a vaccine is to activate your immune system to make antibodies that will recognize and eliminate the virus when you are re-exposed to it in the future.”

She also recommends washing hands throughout the day, managing stress, eating a balanced diet daily, and taking supplements including garlic, zinc, probiotics, vitamin D and vitamin C, and Echinacea.

The CDC said almost 49 million people got sick from the flu last season causing missed work and school days. Dr. Rose said while most flu sufferers will recover without complications, some will progress to serious illnesses, hospitalizations and even death.

“Those patients at greatest risk include older adults, very young children, pregnant women, and people with chronic medical conditions or those who are immunocompromised by a disease process or medications,” she said.

Symptoms of flu include fever, chills, cough, sore throat, runny nose, congestion, muscle or body aches, headaches and fatigue, and sometimes photophobia.

Think you or your family may have the flu? Dr. Rose says one of the things you can do is visit the closest emergency room.

“People can get worsening symptoms requiring a medical evaluation. You should seek medical care or emergency care when you feel profound fatigue, dizziness, pain that is worrisome or different, shortness of breath, or anything you are not comfortable with managing at home.

“You should also seek emergency care if you are immunocompromised in any way or have a chronic medical condition in which the flu could worsen. If you would like to take an antiviral medication, you can make an appointment with your primary care provider or go to your local Emergency Center,” Dr. Rose added.

Top Tips For Buying Cost-Effective Car Insurance Online

News Image

“Online car insurance quotes allow customers to make an educated choice and customize offers. In this way, you can choose how much you are willing to pay for coverage,” said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Compare-autoinsurance.org has released a new blog post explaining how to purchase car insurance online, in a faster and more effective way.

For more info and free quotes, visit http://compare-autoinsurance.org/5-tips-buying-car-insurance-online/

Insurance companies encourage drivers to get online quotes, compare prices and even purchase coverage online. Making online transactions is time-effective and more convenient for both the buyer and the insurance company. For a faster and easier shopping experience, a person should follow the next tips:

  • Gather all relevant documents before comparing prices. In order to purchase car insurance, clients must provide first a series of information regarding driving history, car details and personal info. While some details are easy to fill in, for some info, like car’s body type or VIN number, some documents will be really useful.
  • Visit the state’s Department of Insurance website. Each state has a different legislation regarding auto insurance. The local Department of Insurance provides the necessary info. Drivers should know more about the minimum state requirement, laws involving totaled or stolen cars, usage of credit score in premium’s determination and so on.
  • Compare car insurance quotes from multiple websites. It is recommended to get as many quotes as possible before buying coverage. To get in touch with multiple insurance companies selling in a particular area, use a brokerage website.
  • Provide honest and accurate info. A client’s honesty is crucial for any insurance company. Naturally, they will check if the info provided online matches with the real data. Hiding recent traffic violations is no use, since the insurance companies will investigate with authorities. Lying or hiding information is considered fraud and it is punishable by law.
  • Simulate various coverage options. Insurance websites allow customers to fully customize their coverage options. They can select coverage limits, deductibles, apply for various offers (for example apply to Snapshot monitoring programs) and even customize when to pay the premiums and how. Online tools then will calculate the price and will display it. Simulating various coverage options will help drivers design the coverage they want,

Compare-autoinsurance.org is an online provider of life, home, health, and auto insurance quotes. This website is unique because it does not simply stick to one kind of insurance provider, but brings the clients the best deals from many different online insurance carriers. In this way, clients have access to offers from multiple carriers all in one place: this website. On this site, customers have access to quotes for insurance plans from various agencies, such as local or nationwide agencies, brand names insurance companies, etc.

5 Ways to Thwart Rise in Cyber Threats

https://www.prweb.com/

Matrix Experts Provide Tips for National Cyber Security Awareness Month

“Cybercriminals continue to be creative in their attacks, turning their attention to industries such as manufacturing to retail, and using cloud technology and software like common mobile apps to their advantage.” said Nathan Stallings, president of Matrix Integration.

Click here for Cyber Security video

Cybercriminals are in it for the money – and their ever-shifting targets and tactics require continuous vigilance. Although overall ransomware attacks decreased by 20 percent, ransomware directed towards large enterprises rose by 20 percent, and ransomware targeting mobile devices rose by 33 percent. Supply chain attacks, which are used to gain private payment information from individuals or corporate entities, also increased by a massive 78 percent. 1

To help consumers and businesses protect their data and privacy, Matrix Integration, a strategic IT infrastructure partner for more than 1,000 businesses in Indiana and beyond, is offering practical tips for October’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month.

“Cybercriminals continue to be creative in their attacks, turning their attention to industries such as manufacturing to retail, and using cloud technology and software like common mobile apps to their advantage,” said Nathan Stallings, president of Matrix Integration. “All these threats mean that businesses need to cast a wide net and use a variety of tools to keep their businesses and their customers safe.”

Malware, ransomware, phishing scams and password attacks are all different means of gaining access to information and financial resources for criminals. Matrix Integration works with companies to create security plans that protect their most important and vulnerable data, as well as help everyone from IT leaders to front-line employees identify and protect their information from hackers.

In addition to company-and enterprise-wide security systems, everyone should know how hackers attack, and how to keep themselves from being an easy target.

Matrix Integration’s Top Five Tips for October’s National Cyber Security Awareness Month:

1. Create strong, complex passwords. Cyber criminals want access to corporate information, account numbers and private data. People shouldn’t reuse the same passwords for different sites and devices. One easy option is to create a complex phrase. For example, instead of “Ilovedogs,” people should try “Ilovemydalmation.”

2. Take a closer look at that email. One of the most common ways to hook a victim is through “phishing” – personalized emails that look like they are from a friend or colleague. Attachments often look like common Microsoft Office documents. Once a person clicks on a malicious link or attachment in that email, they could deploy malware or divulge sensitive information. Consumers should question everything and look closely at return addresses, scan for typos, and compare suspect emails to legitimate ones they have received in the past.

3. Watch social activity. Cyber criminals are now targeting citizens through social media like Facebook and Twitter. Ads or personal messages encourage users to play games or click on links to photos, which could lead them to malware or other scams.

4. Use public Wi-Fi with caution. Free Wi-Fi in public spaces is a major benefit to anyone who needs connectivity on the go. But some of these hotspots may be operated by cybercriminals who can easily steal the data users’ transmit while on their networks. People should not connect to wireless networks that aren’t recognized, especially those with “free” in the name or those defined as an “unsecured computer-to-computer network.”

5. Take care with mobile apps. The majority of applications people download to their phones are perfectly safe. However, in the past year, cybercriminals have been developing more apps that contain malware and ransomware for individual phones. Symantec found one in 36 mobile devices had high-risk apps installed1, so to stay safe, consumers should keep their phones’ operating systems as updated as possible, and only download apps from primary app stores.

For Hacks That Are Harder to Detect

No matter how cautious users are, hackers can still gain access to networks and systems. In addition to malware and ransomware, criminals still find ways to hijack passwords and steal information. For businesses and their employees, Matrix Integration collaborates with clients to identify the assets that are most important to them, come up with a plan to protect and detect those assets, and provide tools to discover and respond to attacks before they can cause damage. Types of solutions include robust identity management systems so passwords are harder to steal, data encryption software, and staff training.

Brady Unveils New Laser Markable Materials at SMTA International Electronics Exhibition

Brady (NYSE:BRC), a global leader in industrial and safety printing systems and solutions, announced the launch of a new line of Laser Markable Labels which will be on display at this year’s Surface Mount Technology Association’s (SMTA) International Electronics Exhibition in Rosemont, Ill. on September 24-25.

“When it comes to PCB board manufacturing, traceability is extremely important,” said Lori Aeschbacher, global product manager at Brady Corporation. “The harsh processes that the boards have to go through and small spaces available for identification reduce the identification options. These labels are a perfect fit for this application due to their ability to survive harsh conditions and produce high-resolutions at small font sizes.”

The benefits of these labels don’t end there. The manufacturing process of PCB boards also requires identification processes that don’t yield debris to ensure that the boards remain in working condition. Unlike other laser-engravable solutions on the market, these labels produce little-to-no debris during the engraving process. And, with black on white, white on black and anti-static options available, users have options that best fit their identification needs.

Brady will also be showcasing their complete printing solutions for product identification at SMTA in booth 1232. These solutions include automation products, high-volume on-demand printers, a variety of label materials and software to automate processes.
