Oi’s Message of Positive Protest Turns Environmental Passion into Action

“Positive protest can generate lasting change,” says Helen Robinson, CEO of Oi. “Together we can help to change the environment. The average woman uses 11,000 tampons and pads in her lifetime. Switching to organics, or the reusable cup can remove millions of tons of waste from the environment.”

A recently conducted Oi survey of feminine hygiene users showed 94% agreed that organic tampons and pads are better for the environment than traditional synthetic products

Following the recent massive global protests against pollution and environmental destruction, Organic Initiative (Oi http://www.oi4me.com ) today released results from a survey that found people with periods are ready to take simple steps to protect the environment.

Company CEO and cofounder Helen Robinson also notes that through those actions, millions of tons of waste from traditional tampons and pads containing chemicals, synthetics, and chlorine bleaches can be removed from the earth and oceans.

The U.S. survey was conducted with 560 feminine hygiene users and 4 focus groups. It found that once they realized what was in their products, 94 percent of those surveyed said they strongly or somewhat agreed that organic tampons and pads would be better for the environment. Also, 85 percent strongly or somewhat agreed that organic cotton was better for their health.

Oi is a New Zealand-based company with a product range made from pure, 100% certified organic cotton tampons and pads, and a form-fitting Oi Cup, reusable for up to three years. Since launching in New Zealand in 2015, and the U.S. in 2018, Oi and Robinson have had a singular mission…to take plastics out of hygiene products, beginning with feminine hygiene.

Oi leadership also wanted to educate the market about what was in their tampons and pads. “Our packaging needed to work hard for us and was inspired by protest placards for change. Our packs carry positive protest messages, including “pure inside, nothing to hide,” “biodegradable is not debatable,” and “safe, not synthetic.” We see environmental placards in the hands of a new generation demanding action. This is one way we can all make a difference.” says Robinson.

The company backs up its core messaging with a firm commitment to doing what is best for the earth. Oi’s packaging is biodegradable, and even the pad wrappers are made with cornstarch to break down upon composting. To date, Oi has removed more than 30 million tampons and pads made from non-biodegradable synthetics from the environment.

“We believe the way to generate lasting change is through positive protest,” says Robinson. “Our message is that together all of us with periods can help to change the environment. Consider that the average woman uses 11,000 tampons and pads in her lifetime, switching to organics, or the reusable cup, can take millions of tons of waste out of the environment.”

A growing recognition of the value of products like Oi has helped to propel the organic tampon marketplace to significant growth over the past year. Analysts predict the product category in the U.S. will reach nearly $34 billion by 2025.

Oi also addresses three other issues of importance to people with periods: comfort, safety, and cost. Cotton is one of the softest and naturally absorbent products on the market – able to absorb almost 27-times its weight in liquid. Oi also tackles the issue of affordability by making the product accessible to a broad range of consumers. Oi is sold in stores like Walmart and CVS that emphasize everyday low prices.

“We want people with periods to know they can have it all when it comes to feminine hygiene products like Oi,” said Robinson. “We want to make it super easy to stop polluting the planet, as well as provide a product that works, that is safe and comfortable and based on customers’ feedback, better for their health. If we can get just one hundred people a day to switch to organic feminine products, in a year, we’ll remove more than 7,300,000 tampons and pads and millions of tons of waste from the environment – that will be something to celebrate!”

The Charles E. Holman Morgellons Disease Foundation Announces The Release of Skin Deep: The Battle Over Morgellons

News Image

The documentary Skin Deep: The Battle Over Morgellons has teamed with world-renowned educational distributor Video Project to release the 90 minute film for educational and community screenings. Skin Deep is an investigation by Emmy-winning filmmaker Pi Ware into the fierce controversy surrounding the illness known as Morgellons disease. The documentary is now available for purchase to universities, libraries, medical schools and community groups and comes with a free 20 page study guide.

If you began producing tiny fibers from your body, you would go seek treatment from a doctor, wouldn’t you? Well countless have already experienced this phenomenon, and have found their pleas to physicians fall on deaf ears. Skin Deep is a comprehensive look at Morgellons disease, most well known for afflicting Joni Mitchell. Long thought to be a delusion, new studies and recent discoveries are giving the disease a scientific legitimacy and offering hope to those afflicted. Skin Deep speaks with advocates, skeptics, and sufferers alike to explore this troubling phenomenon, and shines a light on how the medical community reacts to emerging diseases.

Says director Pi Ware, “With many new diseases, there is a period of time before the science of the disease is widely accepted, a time when doctors say, ‘What you’re suggesting goes against what I learned in medical school,’ a time when patients are vulnerable to the prejudice and arrogance of otherwise well-meaning physicians.” Medical history is filled with similar examples: from ulcers (once believed to be caused by stress, now proven to be caused by bacteria) to Multiple Sclerosis (called “hysterical paralysis” until CAT scans and MRIs were invented) to lupus (over 50% of all lupus patients have been told their symptoms are “all in their head”). Ware continues, “There exists a period of time when the victims of a disease are “blamed” for their disease, and the resulting shame, confusion and anger doubles their suffering. Morgellons patients are living in that time right now.”

Skin Deep began filming in the spring of 2015. The film follows several Morgellons patients and physicians who treat them—using antibiotics or anti-psychotics depending on the doctor’s belief system. The film focuses on the battle between a nurse (Cindy Casey-Holman) who is convinced she has a biologically-based disease and a skeptical dermatologist (Dr. Steven Feldman) who favors psychiatric diagnoses. The film climaxes in a showdown at the Morgellons Conference in Austin, Texas, where bridges between doctors and patients will either be built… or burned.

Educational copies of Skin Deep: The Battle Over Morgellons are available at videoproject.com – https://www.videoproject.com/Skin-Deep.html Each purchase includes a free 20 page study guide.

The documentary Skin Deep: The Battle Over Morgellons will also celebrate it’s World Premiere this Saturday, October 5th at 2pm in downtown Los Angeles. Tickets are available at awarenessfestival.org

Dr. B. Sky’s “Oh, the Things They Like to Hide” is a real-life narrative of the doctor’s experience in battling the opioid epidemic in the name of patient safety.

News Image

“Oh, the Things They Like to Hide”: an enthralling memoir by a doctor who battled opioid safety for patients for over fifteen years. “Oh, the Things They Like to Hide” is the creation of published author Dr. B. Sky, a professing Christian since her teenage years, who joined a medical team in big sky country in the fall of 2017 following a fifteen-year struggle fighting with political, media, and management powers about the existence of an opioid epidemic at the large health-care system. She also worked for the large organization and related agencies for almost twenty years.

Dr. B. Sky writes, “During my fifteen years of experience with the large health-care system, I witnessed shocking knee-jerk responses to political and media attention placed upon medical facilities during times of unsolicited adversity. It saddens me that physicians and other dedicated employees, many of us Veterans, become targets or scapegoats for many facility political and media inquiries.

Unfortunately, the large health-care system is not a popular health-care organization in the eyes of the media and politicians. Political and media scrutiny abounds, often resulting in defamation of character of dedicated employees working against enormous obstacles to improve patient healthcare. Subsequently, instead of supporting the medical staff, facility leaders choose to place undeserved blame on an unsuspecting employee in a retaliatory approach. I became one of those employees. What tends to follow next is “nit-picking” of every chart, every decision, and every action by the physician. Worse yet, governing oversight agencies investigate complaints by politicians and others, interview health-care facility leaders, and end up making decisions based upon testimonies filled with lies. The investigators fail to check facts. They ignore certainties that would damage the facility’s reputation. Testimonies by deceitful executive leaders prevail, and their perjured statements blindside truthful testimonies by clinical staff. By choosing to ignore dependable evidence, healthcare suffers, and worse yet, people die.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Dr. B. Sky’s new book is a riveting testimony by the doctor about her battle and mission in prescribing opioids safely for patients.

This book shares a life-relating story about a doctor who saved the lives of many patients from unintentional opioid overdose. She ended her battle in the river city following an eye-opening experience involving a newscaster, Ignorant Oversight Body, director, chief of staff, and politician from the river city.

6 Ways Actively Fight Depression and Supercharge Your Life

“If you are one of the 40 million adults in the U.S. struggling with depression or anxiety, begin to take control over your life today.” says Carter

More recently, there has been a surge of people worldwide struggling with depression—not to mention the family, friends, and coworkers that are also impacted. According to the World Health Organization, depression is a common illness worldwide, with more than 300 million people affected.”

October 10 is National Depression Screening Day and World Mental Health Day.

“Chronic psychological or emotional stress—such as protracted loneliness, marital problems, or the death of a loved one—can lead to the inability of the body to compensate,” says Carter “unfortunately, this loss of functionality results in emotional trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).”

“Stress and anxiety are highly prevalent in modern society and, if not managed, lead to various forms of PTSD and depression,” says Carter, co-author with his wife, Dr. Kirti Salwe Carter, of The Morning Mind: Use Your Brain to Master Your Day and Supercharge Your Life (http://www.themorningmind.com). “An estimated 80 to 90 percent of patients visit their doctors because of health issues that are traceable to chronic, unmanaged stress,” says Carter.

Carter offers 6 ways to help yourself through an episode of depression

1. Identify the life struggle, but don’t dwell on it. “Try to identify the situation that is contributing to your depression,” says Carter, “when you know what’s got you feeling blue and why, talk about it with a caring friend. Talking is a way to release the feelings and to receive some understanding,” says Carter, “pay attention and be aware of how you react when that life struggle into your mind.”

2. Aromatherapy. “Frankincense, rose, and lavender are successfully used by midwives to reduce postpartum anxiety and fear, increase feelings of well-being,” says Carter “lavender aromatherapy may help decrease stress, improve mood, and promote relaxation.” Carter says, “Lavender tincture might be a beneficial adjuvant therapy to treat mild to moderate depression.”

3. Exercise. “Take a 15 to 30 minute walk each morning — or yoga, swimming, dance or do yard work if you prefer,” Carter. “People who are depressed may not feel like being active, but make yourself do it anyway. Exercise supports nerve cell growth in the hippocampus, an area of the brain which is important for memory and mood,” says Carter, “practicing yoga has been shown to increase the size of the hippocampus and reduce symptoms of depression.”

4. Nurture yourself with good nutrition. “To grow the brain, we need wholesome conditions,” says Carter, “the significance of nutrition has been largely overlooked by the medical establishment.” Carter says, “we need to provide the body with the high quality, raw building materials.”

5. Visualize a happy memory. “The subconscious responds very powerfully to feeling, and the more of a sensory experience you can make your reflective memory, the more effective it will be,” says Carter “Utilize all your senses, can you see, hear, smell, touch, and taste that happy memory?” Carter says, “we should make every attempt to live in the present moment, but are times were we have to search in the past for the good stuff.”

6. Meditation helps disrupt feelings of fear and anxiety. “Meditation trains the brain to be in the present moment, and to return to that focus when negative thinking and emotions intrude,” says Carter. “Experiencing stress and anxiety over long periods of time can contribute to symptoms of depression,” says Carter “meditation helps breakdown the neural connections in the brain that induce feelings of fear or anxiety.”

How much of your life do you spend in the present moment? How much time do you spend daydreaming, ruminating about the past, or worrying about the future? “If you are one of the 40 million adults in the U.S. struggling with depression or anxiety, begin to take control over your life today.” says Carter

Does Car Insurance Cover Flood Damage Caused By Hurricanes?

News Image

“Comprehensive coverage is designed to cover weather-related damage, including flood damage. If your care was flooded during Hurricane Florence, you should file a claim”, said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Cheapquotesautoinsurance.com has released a new blog post that explains how car owners can be compensated for flood and hurricane damage by their auto insurance coverage

Water can render a car totally useless. The modern devices installed in a car can be short-circuited when water breaches in. So, it is normal for drivers to ask themselves if their insurance plan will reimburse them. Find out more and get free car insurance quotes from http://cheapquotesautoinsurance.com/car-insurance-cover-floods/

  • Comprehensive car insurance covers damaged caused by weather. Under the terms of the contract, the policyholder will be reimbursed if the car was damaged by extreme weather. Comprehensive also reimburses the owner if the car was totaled. So, if the car was flooded by Hurricane Florence, this policy will cover the costs.
  • The policyholder will be reimbursed based on the car’s Actual Cash Value. This means that the policyholder will be reimbursed for the value of the car at the moment when the car was flooded. A car’s value depreciates over time. This is a very important thing to remember.
  • Comprehensive coverage will also cover damaged accessories. But only if those accessories were declared and covered before the car was damaged. Making claims for accessories that were not declared is useless. No company will reimburse undeclared items.
  • Insurance companies will no longer issue comprehensive coverage once a hurricane was announced. This is a safe-lock for companies and prevents potential bankruptcy. Otherwise, the companies will have to pay a lot of money to policyholders who paid one or two premiums.
  • Mitigate the damage caused by the hurricane. Once it is safe, get the vehicle to safe location and dry it. Besides reducing the damage, the policyholder will have more changes for a better claim settlement.

GameBench launches first ever touch latency benchmark for mobile gaming

Whether you’re a device manufacturer or a game developer, performance is key to your users’ experience. GameBench continues to lead the charge on delivering solutions for the gaming ecosystem. Our creation of the touch latency benchmark is just the latest contribution to the community.

GameBench, an industry leader in providing mobile performance testing solutions, is proud to announce that it has launched the mobile industry’s very first touch latency benchmark.

GameBench provides end-to-end performance testing tools and professional services to a wide range of game studios and smartphone manufacturers.

Alongside frame rates, load times, power consumption and other metrics assessed by GameBench, touch latency is a critical component of user experience because it measures the time taken for a game to respond to the gamer’s input. Low latency will make a game feel responsive and increase the player’s competitiveness, while long latency will make a game feel laggy and harder to control.

GameBench, using its suite of proprietary benchmarking technology and techniques, has based its benchmarks on targets that come from the world of competitive PC and console gaming where expectations for input lag are more established.

The importance of this new metric to device manufacturers was made clear last week when it was used to highlight the performance of the Huawei Mate 30 Series during a major launch event on September 26th.

You can find the full report detailing the results available on GameBench at https://blog.gamebench.net/huawei-mate-30-pro-iphone-11-pro-max-gaming-benchmarks.

The development of the touch latency benchmark is another milestone in GameBench’s mission to become the industry standard for mobile performance testing.

Sri Iyer, CEO GameBench, said:

“Whether you’re a device manufacturer or a game developer, performance is key to your users’ experience. GameBench continues to lead the charge on delivering solutions for the gaming ecosystem. Our creation of the touch latency benchmark is just the latest contribution to the community.”

About GameBench:

GameBench was founded in 2013 and has quickly established itself as a pioneer and leader in the industry for mobile gaming benchmarks. As an independent and neutral platform, GameBench offers a suite of professional-grade tools and services for gaming studios to optimize a game’s performance for any device and conduct competitive analysis. Major mobile manufacturers have come to rely on GameBench to test platform performance. As a result, clients and partners from around the world have used GameBench to perform nearly 54,000 hours of tests and 15,000 games and 6,300 distinct device models.
