Financial Poise™ Announces “Valuation in Corporate Transactions,” a New Webinar Series Premiering October 4th at 11:00 AM CST Through West LegalEdcenter™

News Image

This webinar explains how to best go about identifying and then retaining the right expert for any given situation.

About the Series: Valuation experts are commonly used by market participants to determine the price they are willing to pay or receive to transact a sale of a security, a business or a discrete asset. Valuations can be performed on assets such as equities, options, or business enterprises. They can also be performed on intangible assets such as patents and trademarks, or liabilities such as debt and contingent consideration. The concept of valuation permeates the business and legal world on a daily basis. Given the importance of valuation, it seems incongruous that two perfectly competent valuation professionals can conclude on significantly different values for the same subject interest. This webinar series addresses this and, more broadly, discusses how valuation experts go about their work.

About the Episode: Deal lawyers and business people alike often have to look to a valuation expert to assist in understanding value in various non-litigation settings. This may happen in connection with corporate spin-offs, shareholder buyouts, bulk assets sales, and a host of other contexts in which assets must be sold or valued without the benefit of being tested by the market. This webinar explains how to best go about identifying and then retaining the right expert for any given situation.

The webinar will be available on-demand after its premiere. As with every Financial Poise Webinar, it will be an engaging and plain English conversation designed to entertain as it teaches.

“By fully integrating into one organization, we enhance our functional strength and increase our capacity. Now, we can provide more communities with more comprehensive care across an expanded service area,” said SamaraCare’s President & CEO, Rev. Dr. Scott Mitchell.

On July 1, 2019, SamaraCare Counseling and Samaritan Counseling Center, joined forces to become one of Chicagoland’s largest providers of high-quality mental health services. Both organizations share a unified mission to offer options for secular and spiritually integrated care across diverse faith traditions.

The National Institute of Mental Health reports that nearly one in five U.S. adults live with a mental illness. This growing trend is why SamaraCare remains committed to its Mental Health Access Program (MHAP), which makes counseling services affordable and accessible. Through donations SamaraCare is able to provide reduced fees and subsidies for families and individuals in need of emotional and financial assistance. With more and more people requiring these vital services, MHAP continues to be a high priority initiative as the organization grows into new communities and an expanded service area.

This union also creates a sizable regional organization serving six counties that will realize administrative efficiencies and strengthen negotiating power with insurers. Another key advantage of the new larger organization will be its ability to attract and retain more highly qualified clinicians and staff. With a more impactful market presence, the organization will have significant financial opportunities that qualify it for increased funding and grant consideration.

The new organization will continue to serve children, adults, seniors, and families from Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, and Will counties. “By fully integrating into one organization, we enhance our functional strength and increase our capacity. Now, we can provide more communities with more comprehensive care across an expanded service area,” said SamaraCare’s President & CEO, Rev. Dr. Scott Mitchell.

About SamaraCare

Now serving six counties, SamaraCare has been an interfaith non -profit organization for nearly 50 years. It is uniquely qualified to offer spiritually integrated counseling services to those interested. It is one of the largest accredited counseling organizations originating in Chicago’s western suburbs. It pioneered a Mental Health Access Program (MHAP), providing reduced fees and subsidies to under-resourced clients struggling both emotionally and financially.

The Hartford’s Ability Equipped Program Named a 2019 Rings of Gold Recipient By United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee

https://www.prweb.com/

Disabled Sports USA Elite Team Member Casey Followay

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee has named The Hartford’s Ability Equipped program as its 2019 Rings of Gold award recipient for making adaptive sport equipment and opportunities more accessible to athletes of various ages and skill levels nationwide. The award will be presented at the awards gala on Friday, September 13 as part of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Assembly in Colorado Springs.

In partnership with Disabled Sports USA, The Hartford’s Ability Equipped program is empowering athletes with disabilities to experience the life-changing power of sport by making adaptive equipment more readily available throughout the United States. With The Hartford’s three-year, $2.2 million contribution, Ability Equipped aims to increase the capacity of community grassroots organizations and bridge the gap to elite sport opportunities by identifying, supporting and empowering the 250+ athletes, ages 13-24, who comprise the Disabled Sports USA Elite Team.

Through The Hartford’s Ability Equipped program, over $300,000 in equipment grants will be awarded to more than 120 Disabled Sports USA (DSUSA) Elite Team athletes competing across all the Paralympic sports. Ten of these athletes recently represented Team USA in five different sports at the Parapan American Games Lima 2019, including 22 year-old Casey Followay from Wooster, Ohio. Followay was named to the DSUSA Elite Team in 2016 and received an Ability Equipped grant to purchase adaptive sports equipment, namely a new racing chair. “This type of equipment is expensive. I am very honored to be involved with DSUSA and grateful for the generosity. This will help me achieve the goals I set when I was young.” One of his goals is to represent Team USA at the 2020 Paralympic Games in Tokyo.

Adaptive sports equipment is an important investment that will help grow the Paralympic Movement and sustain future Paralympians’ opportunities to develop and compete. With adaptive sports equipment often costing more than five times as much as mainstream sport equipment, the Ability Equipped program aims to empower adaptive athletes to reach their full potential.

The program is already showing success across key indicators. Within a year of the first round of grants, which were distributed in December 2018, six DSUSA chapters saw a 76 percent increase in program days, an 82 percent increase in equipment inventory, a 111 percent increase in volunteers, a 148 percent increase in instructors and trainers, and a 62 percent increase in program participants, with more than 1,110 new participants – including 25 percent youth. Additionally, the Ability Equipped program awarded $305,000 to seven DSUSA chapters in August 2019, and will award another $340,000 in 2020 – all building toward the ultimate goal to introduce more than 60,000 youth with disabilities to adaptive sport by the Los Angles Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2028. By investing in these local organizations that provide sport opportunities to youth, especially in underserved geographic locations, the program is fostering healthier, happier and more inclusive communities and teaching youth valuable life skills through sports. Embodying the philosophy of Olympism, Ability Equipped emphasizes the joy found in effort, as participants are chosen based not on their previous accomplishments, but on their proven commitment and desire to achieve Paralympic greatness.

“We are so proud that our impactful partnership with The Hartford’s Ability Equipped is being recognized as the 2019 Rings of Gold award recipient. This program is changing lives by delivering accessibility to adaptive sport equipment and opportunities nationwide. It is a privilege to be a part of this effort,” said Glenn Merry, executive director of Disabled Sports USA.

The Rings of Gold award will be presented at the closing dinner of the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Assembly, which will feature legendary Jill Ellis, head coach of the world champion U.S. women’s national soccer team as the keynote speaker. Other awards, including the Olympic Torch Award, Jack Kelly Fair Play Award and Diversity & Inclusion Award, will also be presented.

Eating Recovery Foundation Convenes Eating Disorder and Mental Health Experts to Explore New Trends and Developments

News Image

Eating disorder and mental health experts from across the country and around the world will convene in Denver October 11-12 to learn and collaborate on emerging trends and new approaches for treating mood, anxiety, trauma and eating disorders at the 12th annual Eating Disorder Foundation conference: Navigating Resistance and Emerging Treatments for Eating Disorders, Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and Trauma.

The conference will be held at the Westin Denver Downtown Hotel at 1672 Lawrence St. For a full conference schedule and registration information visit: http://www.eatingrecovery.com/ERFcon2019

Highlights of the two-day educational event include a keynote address by Frank Warren, founder of the PostSecret movement and author of six New York Times bestsellers. Frank used his experience as a crisis counselor to develop a community where people mail in anonymous post cards with a secret they want to share. He’s received millions of anonymous secrets and every Sunday, Frank selects some to share on the Post Secret website. The stories of how those secrets help to connect people have resulted in his six books, numerous presentations and museum exhibits across six continents over the past 10 years. The campaign has also raised over $1M for suicide call centers.

Warren’s presentation will resonate with mental health providers who are frequently the “secret keepers” for their clients. Clinicians understand the redemptive power of sharing one’s secrets and attendees can submit their own secrets at postcard stations during the conference.

The Eating Recovery Foundation (ERF) is the nonprofit fundraising arm of Eating Recovery Center (ERC), a Denver-based, 12-state network that provides treatment for a wide range of eating disorder conditions, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder (BED), avoidant restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID), diabulimia, and more. As the nonprofit arm of ERC, the foundation provides education and prevention programs, supports research and provides resources for those afflicted with, or at risk for eating disorders, as well as their families, caregivers and treating professionals.

Because 56 percent of eating disorder patients suffer from an underlying mental health disorder, ERC also partners with Insight Behavioral Health Services to provide mood, anxiety and trauma-related treatment programming.

About Eating Recovery Center and Insight Behavioral Health Centers

Eating Recovery Center is the only national, vertically integrated, health care system dedicated to the treatment of serious eating and related disorders at any stage of the illness. ERC offers best-in-class treatment programs for all patients struggling from anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, avoidant restrictive food intake disorder and related disorders. ERC was named a Colorado Biz magazine 2019 Top Company award winner and was named a 2019 Inc. 5000 finalist.

Insight Behavioral Health Centers offers specialized treatment for mood, anxiety and trauma-related disorders. Both programs treat adults, children and teens and offer multiple levels of care, including Residential, Partial Hospitalization Program, and Intensive Outpatient Program. Led by the world’s leading experts in mental health, ERC and Insight provides a full spectrum of eating disorder and mood, anxiety and trauma-related recovery services through an unmatched network of multiple locations across seven states.
