DuPont Launches HOLDBAC® YM VEGE, Dairy-Free Protective Cultures for Plant-Based Fermented Products

https://www.prweb.com/

DuPont N&B has worked with customers for decades as consumer demands for plant-based options have increased, and we are constantly looking for ways to innovate in this space. As more consumers look for fermented food and drinks, our HOLDBAC® YM VEGE cultures will help our customers meet that demand.

DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences has announced a new ingredient – HOLDBAC® YM VEGE – as the latest addition to the DuPont™ Danisco® HOLDBAC® line of protective cultures, known for their ability to extend shelf-life and secure the quality of products by holding off yeast and mold spoilage – all without use of synthetic preservatives. Now, HOLDBAC® YM VEGE brings this effective and label-friendly spoilage prevention to plant-based, fermented foods and beverages, at a time when customer demand in this space has never been higher.

“The industry has seen enormous growth for fermented plant-based products in recent years, driven by higher numbers of flexitarian, vegetarian or vegan consumers around the world. These shifts in diets are driven by a number of factors, including a search for improved health that comes with a plant-based diet, ethical choices toward foods with lower environmental impact and which are deemed better for animal welfare, and switching to dairy alternatives for lactose-intolerant consumers,” said Eve Martinet-Bareau, Global Product Manager, Cultures for plant-based fermented food and beverages.

“DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences has been working with customers for decades as consumer demands for plant-based options have increased, and we are constantly looking for ways to innovate in this space,” added Martinet-Bareau. “For example, in May 2018, we launched a new cultures line – Danisco® VEGE Cultures – especially designed for fermented plant-based products, helping customers attain desired taste and texture profiles in a wide variety of plant-based dairy alternatives and beverages.”

However, with that demand came certain challenges for producers of fermented goods, including the need to:

  • Gain market share in the fast-growing plant-based food sector;
  • consistently ensure high-quality products with the desired taste and texture, particularly across regions with differing consumer preferences;
  • secure that quality throughout a product’s shelf-life;
  • address the fast-growing demand for friendly labeled consumer products;
  • make a substantial contribution to the sustainability of the food and beverage sector; and
  • provide consumers with products that improve their health and wellbeing.

“As more consumers look for fermented food and drinks, our HOLDBAC® YM VEGE cultures will help our customers meet that demand.”

This innovative new ingredient also offers customers the ability to make a significant difference in terms of environmental and social impact through reduced food waste and plant-based alternatives. The potential impact is massive: DuPont has estimated that if just 5 percent of the global yogurt market is replaced with plant-based alternatives made with Danisco® VEGE and HOLDBAC® YM VEGE cultures, the carbon dioxide emission saving would theoretically be as high as 3,000,000 tons CO2 annually. This would be roughly equivalent to 1,700,000 EU-based cars off the roads.

“We are thrilled to add HOLDBAC® YM VEGE to our range of plant-based and sustainable offerings,” said Mikkel Thrane, Global Sustainability Lead for DuPont Nutrition & Biosciences. “We look at our environmental footprint through the lens of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and we are proud to say that this culture supports at least three – SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption) and SDG 13 (Climate Action). HOLDBAC® YM VEGE is helping us facilitate the transition to a healthier and more environmental-friendly diet.”

This transition to a healthier diet for people and the planet is powered by DuPont’s expertise in microbiology, food protection and fermentation, as well its commitment to developing and offering more sustainable ingredients for customers. Preventative Veterinary Medicine to be discussed on “Behind The Scenes” with Laurence Fishburne

News Image

One of the recent episodes has highlighted the importance of preventative veterinary medicine.

One of the most iconic actors from series such as The Matrix as well as John Wick also helps educate audiences with informative television. As the host of the series “Behind The Scenes,” Laurence Fishburne opens a series that attracts attention to some of the major issues that are facing the modern world. O ver the past few years, “Behind The Scenes” has drawn attention to a wide variety of important problems facing the public. One of the recent episodes has highlighted the importance of preventative veterinary medicine.

An Often-Overlooked Aspect of Healthcare

Growing up, most people went to the doctor at least once per year to get their checkup. Even though people should continue to do this during adulthood, this often falls by the wayside as people get bogged down with school, work, and their family. On the other hand, these checkups are important. Certain health conditions can be picked up before symptoms start to show. People need to remain up to date on their vaccinations to remain protected against deadly diseases.

Furthermore, these checkups are also important for pets. Pets need the same type of care that people do; however, many pet owners do not always participate in these checkups. This issue is discussed in a forthcoming episode of “Behind The Scenes” that will feature veterinary personnel and other individuals in veterinary science.

Recognition and Awards

“Behind The Scenes” with Laurence Fishburne is reviewed by a team of experts to ensure that the information meets the highest of quality standards before dissemination for viewing. The show has received a wide variety of awards in recognition of its dedication to quality work.

GYMGUYZ Launches ‘Opportunity October’ Campaign with a Goal of Hiring 200 New Personal Trainers by the End of the Year

GYMGUYZ, the nation’s first in-home mobile personal training and fitness franchise, has announced its Opportunity October hiring campaign. The campaign seeks to aggregate 2,000 new applications which translate to the hiring of another 200 personal fitness trainers before the end of 2020. In addition to helping meet the company’s growth plan of opening 100 new locations by the end of 2020, the Opportunity October campaign is meant to aid in the fitness industry’s pressing need for quality personal trainers.

GYMGUYZ currently has over 250 locations across the globe serving over 575 cities and continues to eye national and international expansion as it seeks out territories that show a demand for its in-home personal training services. This year, GYMGUYZ has successfully added new locations to several states including California, New Jersey, Florida, Maryland, Oklahoma, as well as Canada and the United Kingdom, with additional territories expected to open before the end of the year. The Opportunity October hiring campaign is part of GYMGUYZ’s plan to aggressively increase hiring efforts to help support its growth strategy.

“GYMGUYZ offers personal trainers the opportunity to be a part of a team that is changing the fitness industry,” said Josh York, CEO and Founder of GYMGUYZ. “We are extremely proud of our team and are excited to hire more highly-skilled, energetic and driven individuals to provide convenient, customized and creative workouts in the setting of our clients’ choice. Before starting GYMGUYZ, I worked as a personal trainer and I recognize how important it is to pair our clients with the best trainers possible. The incredible culture of the fitness industry has allowed me to work my way up from being a personal trainer to opening my own mobile personal training business.”

The fitness industry suffers from an annual trainer turnover rate of 80%, according to a study done by W.I.T.S. GYMGUYZ combats this turnover rate by offering trainers the opportunity to “bust out of the gym” and take their training to the client. GYMGUYZ also stresses a uniquely personalized training approach, creating a high level of trust and collaboration between trainers and clients. The brand’s coaches, who must be nationally certified personal trainers and pass a rigorous background check to be considered for employment, are trained using GYMGUYZ methodologies and employ various techniques and tools to ensure that no two workouts are ever the same and that clients are always having fun and being challenged.

The brand structures convenient, customized and creative workouts to help every client meet their own personal goals. Training programs begin with a comprehensive health and fitness assessment that creates a thorough fitness baseline for the client, as well as a deep discussion of fitness goals and timelines for achievement. This helps to determine a customized and ideal course of action. This client-focused approach and more effective delivery model is the reason that GYMGUYZ holds an above-industry average NPS score of 94—showcasing the positive regard clients everywhere have for the company and the results they are able to achieve due to the convenience and effectiveness of the service.

GYMGUYZ was recognized earlier in 2019 as having jumped up 49% on Entrepreneur Magazine’s 2019 Franchise 500® and also ranked No. 50 on Entrepreneur’s list of Fastest-Growing Franchises and No. 25 on its Best For Any Budget list in the under $100,000 category.

Grand opening of new Community Center completes a decade of transformative change at Pine Run Retirement Community

https://www.prweb.com/

Carol Elia, Jerry Gorski, Maria Santangelo, Jim Brexler, and Amber Bahr celebrate the opening of the Community Center on October 2 in Doylestown, Pa.

“Work over the last decade at Pine Run is transformational, encompassing renovations to resident cottages, construction of a four-story apartment complex, upgrades of the 90-bed Pine Run Health Center, and improvements to infrastructure,”said Maria Santangelo, executive director at Pine Run.

Pine Run Villagers and Doylestown Health and Pine Run leaders celebrated the grand opening of Pine Run’s new community center devoted to healthy living on Oct. 2. Amenities in the 37,000-square-foot building include indoor and outdoor dining venues, entertainment galleries, a swimming pool and fitness facilities.

The two-story building was constructed in two phases after a groundbreaking in Spring 2017. The new center will continue to be the heart of the Pine Run community for years to come.

“While this may be the end of construction, we are poised on the precipice of a new chapter in senior living,” said Maria Santangelo, executive director at Pine Run. “In fact, work over the last decade at Pine Run is transformational, encompassing renovations to resident cottages, construction of a four-story apartment complex, upgrades of the 90-bed Pine Run Health Center, and improvements to infrastructure.”

The new center features versatile spaces known as “galleries” for food, fitness and fun activities. The first phase of construction included three indoor and two outdoor dining galleries overlooking the pond, as well as a café. The second phase includes an expanded fitness center with new equipment, space for classes, an indoor pool with a private changing area, and a 175-seat auditorium.

“Pine Run is an integral part of Doylestown Health, now and far into the future,” said Jim Brexler, President and CEO. “Doylestown Health has a bright future – a visionary future – and Pine Run is an important part of the continuum of care we offer our community, today and always.”

Construction of the new Community Center is one of the priorities of ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health, a $75 million philanthropic effort that includes Pine Run and the Doylestown Hospital campus. The campaign launched last year and has received nearly $60 million in gifts, pledges and bequests.

Two other new Doylestown Health construction projects are nearing completion: The Cardiovascular and Critical Care Pavilion, housing the Woodall Center for Heart and Vascular Care, which will open in early 2020. The Ambulatory Center on the health system’s flagship hospital campus, with its same-day surgery center, orthopedic offices and rehabilitation facilities, will be finished in Spring 2020.

The ONE VISION campaign launched publicly in June 2018 and will end in 2023 to mark the centennial of Doylestown Hospital, founded by the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown.

“Nearly 125 years ago at its founding, I suspect the women of the Village Improvement Association of Doylestown would never have imaged how their vision to create a healthier community would one day result in a time and place like this,” said Joyce Hanson, president of the VIA. “This community center is the embodiment of that vision – it offers healthy options in food and activities, but most of all, it helps to build a better community.”

Located on 43 acres in Doylestown Township, Pine Run was originally built in 1976. The Ferry Road campus is home to more than 300 seniors who enjoy independent living in cottages and apartments. Also located on the campus are the Pine Run Health Center, which offers rehabilitation services and 90 skilled nursing beds.

Pine Run continues to grow and re-invest in Villager services and facilities. The $13 million Community Center is part of a decade-long investment in Pine Run.

The New Community Center also features a library and computer nook, living room with fireplace, a hair and nail salon and a Country Store.

Designed by AG Architecture Inc. and built by Gorski Engineering of Collegeville, the center uses environmentally-friendly green materials and innovative features to reduce energy costs. The site incorporates a rain garden with plantings, a greenhouse, and a pond with new landscaping enjoyable in all four seasons.

About Pine Run

Pine Run Retirement Community in Doylestown has 272 cottages and 24 apartments situated on a beautiful 43-acre campus. Also located on the campus are the Pine Run Health Center, which offers rehabilitation services and 90 skilled nursing beds. The Garden, a 40-bed, secure dementia neighborhood, is located on the top floor of the five-story Health Center. The Willows neighborhood offers an intimate setting for end-of-life care. An additional 107-bed personal care residence, Pine Run Lakeview, is located on Lower State Road in Doylestown.

About ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health

Doylestown Health is beginning a bold new chapter as we approach our second century of health care delivery. To honor our centennial, Doylestown Health launched an ambitious $75 million comprehensive campaign, ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health, to elevate the patient experience to new heights and unlock our full potential to deliver exceptional care.

Philanthropic support of ONE VISION: The Campaign for Doylestown Health will fund transformational renovation and expansion across the Doylestown Hospital and Pine Run campuses and will help chart the course for the next generation of patients, providers and technology. Nextremity Solutions, Inc. Announces Commercial Launch of Stratum™ MPJ Plating System

We are pleased with the recent clinical success with the Stratum MPJ system and the continued adoption by our surgeon customers.

Nextremity Solutions, Inc., a strategic commercialization organization with a focus on the musculoskeletal space, located in “The Orthopedic Capital of the World,” Warsaw, Ind., has recently made commercially available the Stratum MPJ Plating System as an extension to its already successful Stratum Foot Plating System.

The Stratum MPJ Plating System provides surgeons with twelve total plates with both 0-degree and 7-degree options. These plates address issues in the first metatarsophalangeal joint, which is the joint between the first metatarsal and proximal phalanx of the foot. MPJ fusion surgery is intended to help relieve pain in the front of the foot for the patient in need of surgery.

Ryan Schlotterback, Chief Technology Officer of Nextremity Solutions said, “The team has done an excellent job of developing our Stratum plating technology. We are pleased with the recent clinical success with the Stratum MPJ system and the continued adoption by our surgeon customers. Surgeons appreciate the combination of features that allow for efficient trialing and placement of the plate with the ability to dial in desired compression prior to final fixation. The Stratum MPJ Plating System further builds on the Stratum family of plates and we are excited about the additional applications in the pipeline.”

The Stratum MPJ Plating System launch was preceded by the launches of the Stratum Foot Plating System, Stratum Lapidus Plating System, and InCore® Lapidus System. All of these systems address various deformities or traumatic injuries of the foot. Additionally, Nextremity Solutions notes that its success in product development is owed to its i3® Strategic Solutions micro-commercialization strategy.

“Over the last two and a half years we have remained passionately focused on our i3 Strategic Solutions strategy.
