San Clemente Vitality Center to Conduct Happy Gut Expo This Saturday October 5th

San Clemente Vitality Center Logo

San Clemente Vitality, is pleased to announce that they will be having a Happy Gut Expo this Saturday, October 5th, 2019, at 647 Camino de Los Mares, Suite 220 San Clemente, CA. The vitality center is encouraging everyone to join them and learn more about gut health, how to nurture it, how to reclaim it and how it directly impacts the functioning of the brain. San Clemente Vitality will have numerous speakers who will inform, educate and answers every participant’s questions.

A person’s digestive system feeds the whole body. The brain prioritizes so whatever the human brain feels isn’t necessary, it will suffer from lack of nutrition. That system will become symptomatic. Swelling throughout the body, cramping and gas, brain fog, “aging” sensations, aches, fatigue, and sluggishness are some of the symptoms of poor digestion. In fact, in the USA alone, poor nutrition isn’t caused by undernourishment but rather results from consuming toxic chemicals, eating foods, which aren’t “real” foods, and overeating.

The Happy Gut Expo will combine demonstrations, education, and entertainment to boost knowledge and establish awareness of different ways to strengthen gut health. In addition, both experts and specialists will be presenting to the community their own unique health products.

Specialist Dr. Burton Wagner is confident that this event will be useful for those people who will attend. He is currently in the business of assisting people in enhancing the quality of their lives through chiropractic and therapy.

Joint issues lead in billions of dollars lost annually in productivity, influencing individuals, families, companies, and communities. What San Clemente Vitality is providing could help people enhance their quality of life. This free event will be one of the many that will be held to enhance the wellness and health of the community. Dr. Wagner is thrilled to be a part of this venture.

“This is a wonderful chance to make informed decisions about everyone’s wellness and health. We will present everyone with the tools and information to help them in accomplishing their goals,” said Dr. Wagner. He also adds that this event is ideal for people who want to enhance their overall health and energy.

Dr. Wagner encourages everyone to reserve a spot as there are only a few more spots left. To reserve a spot, visit their page at HappyGutExpo.

Stratodesk & Travel Europe – 15 Years of Excellence

“Travel Europe has been working with Stratodesk for 15 years” says Rudolf Detter. “We are pleased with the partnership, and look forward to further success in the future!”

Rudolf Detter, Head of IT at Travel Europe, knows a good thing when he sees it. For this reason, Travel Europe was one of the first adopters of Stratodesk software. Before Virtual Desktop Infrastructure had broken into the mainstream – in fact, before smartphones were even commonly used – Stratodesk and Travel Europe believed in the power of the next generation VDI technology. Today, Stratodesk, the creator of the leading endpoint OS and management solution for VDI, DaaS and IoT endpoints, announced their continued success with Travel Europe and Citrix. This is a success story that is 15 years in the making, beginning with the predecessor of our flagship product, NoTouch Desktop, and Citrix® Virtual Apps and Desktops, and continuing today with the latest and most up-to-date Stratodesk powered devices and Citrix products.

Travel Europe has been successfully involved in incoming European tourism for more than 30 years providing inclusive coach and air packages, head office support from over 120 employees and a network of 15 offices throughout Europe with over 80 staff providing local support. The family-owned company based in Stans, near Innsbruck/Austria, has grown from a small Tyrolean travel agency into an international tour operator. Highly-qualified employees provide bespoke tour packages for group tours by coach or by air (using in-house charter flights) throughout Europe, Jordan and Israel.

For more than 15 years, Stratodesk has helped Travel Europe unify its IT infrastructure and achieve massive savings and increased endpoint security. In addition to that, Travel Europe saw a range of other benefits including:

●    A reduced requirement for patching and maintenance

●    Significantly improved start-up and log-in times for users

●    Less downtime and more productivity due to a network centric computing approach

●    Distinct savings from administration and support

●    Centralized and remote management of all desktops

“Because all applications are able to be maintained only on the server and not on the local devices, it is now much easier and much faster to deploy new applications,” explains Rudolf Detter. “This is a huge advantage when opening a new branch office. In Krakau, Poland, a new office was up and running in half a day due to the new network centric approach from Stratodesk. Stratodesk thin client solutions also increased security in our company. With NoTouch Center we have many security options to choose from including the feature of locking down USB ports to prevent the dangers of unauthorized data download.”

“Travel Europe has been working with Stratodesk for 15 years” continues Detter. “We are pleased with the partnership, and look forward to further success in the future!”

“We are ecstatic about our long term success with Travel Europe” says Stratodesk CEO, Emanuel Pirker. “We believed in VDI since its inception, and our joint success with Citrix will only continue as VDI continues to innovate and expand as a market and technology. In the coming years, we expect to even see it converge with IoT. In fact, we already see this today, evidenced by the workspace hub, ThinPrint Hub, and NoTouch IoT.”

“Employees today expect the freedom to work from anywhere at anytime using the devices and applications of their choice,” said John Panagulias, Director, Citrix Ready. “Travel Europe can deliver it in an efficient, unified and cost-effective manner that optimizes IT efficiency and im-proves user engagement and productivity, and we are pleased to be partnering with Stratodesk to help Travel Europe do just this.”

About Stratodesk

Stratodesk is redefining endpoint computing by delivering a single endpoint solution for VDI, DaaS and IoT markets. Stratodesk’s cutting edge linux-based endpoint OS and management suite, NoTouch, is a next generation, hardware-agnostic solution that enables companies to cost-effectively manage their endpoints. Stratodesk’s solution works seamlessly across x86 and ARM/Raspberry Pi based hardware products to provide a unified platform for your endpoints. It also increases endpoint security, simplifies user experience and allows customers to maximize the benefits of existing desktop hardware through PC Repurposing.

Starboard Medical Launches Clik-FIX™ Neonatal PICC Catheter Securement at AVA 2019

Hub related pressure ulcer injury is a recurrent problem in neonatal patients, we are so glad our design helps reduce that risk

Starboard Medical Inc., a manufacturer of advanced, clinically differentiated IV catheter securement products for the acute-care and home-infusion markets, today announced its participation in the annual scientific meeting of the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) at the Cesar’s Palace, Las Vegas, Nevada from October 4 – 6, 2019. Starboard Medical will unveil a new entry in its catheter securement product portfolio at the event.

AVA was founded by healthcare professionals to meet the specific needs of the vascular access specialty. The organization’s multidisciplinary membership advances scientific research, clinical best practices, professional education, and solution development to further patient outcomes. The 2019 AVA Conference, the association’s 33rd annual meeting, is the premier event within the vascular access discipline, offering the benefits of educational sessions, clinical training, and new product demonstrations.

More than 1,500 nurses, clinicians, and solution providers specializing in vascular access and infusion therapy are expected to attend AVA 2019. Over 100 research abstracts will highlight new scientific findings and clinical experience in the field of vascular access. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with colleagues throughout the event. And, the Exhibit Hall will feature more than 65 qualified companies offering face-to-face meetings with product development and customer account teams, allowing all parties to gain insight through hands-on interaction, feedback, and discussion.

Exhibit Hall hours are 5:30 pm-7:30 pm on Friday, October 4th, 11:15 am – 2:15 pm Saturday, October 5th, and 11:15 am – 2:00 pm Sunday, October 6th. Starboard Medical’s line of engineered stabilization devices, Clik-FIX™, will be showcased at the event in Exhibit Hall Booth #618. The company will introduce its newest development the Clik-FIX Neonatal PICC Securement Device. Like all Starboard’s securement products, the Neonatal PICC Securement Device was designed with patient care in mind. Securing a Neonatal PICC is difficult as the surface area for securement is miniaturized due to patient size and materials chosen must accommodate the patient’s delicate skin. Our new Neonatal PICC Securement device helps reduce the risk of catheter hub related pressure ulcers, catheter movement and dislodgement, and infection while being soft and comfortable for the smallest of patients. “Hub related pressure ulcer injury is a recurrent problem in neonatal patients, we are so glad our design helps reduce that risk,” stated Kerry Edgar, President of Starboard Medical Inc.

About Starboard Medical, Inc.

Starboard Medical is an innovator in catheter securement and patient temperature management, focused on developing progressive product designs that significantly improve product performance, safety, and outcomes. Florida Keys hospital breaks ground, NELSON Worldwide implements resilient design concept

Aerial rendering of Fishermen's Community Hospital exterior

Fishermen’s Community Hospital Exterior

Fishermen’s Community Hospital had been serving its island community in Marathon, a small city in the middle of the Florida Keys, since 1962. A critical access hospital, it provided essential primary and emergency care for a small population whose only other option was 42 miles away via a single inter-island highway. In September 2017, Category 5 Hurricane Irma swept through the Keys, devastating the islands and sealing the hospital’s fate. Baptist Health South Florida (BHSF) would close the irreparably damaged facility, set up a temporary field hospital in its place, and enlist its longtime design partner in Miami, NELSON, to help resurrect this important community resource.

Due to reopen in winter 2020, the full replacement hospital will materialize from the passionate commitment and collaboration of the Marathon community, local government, BHSF and NELSON’s team of healthcare experts. The new facility will provide emergency services, diagnostic and imaging, surgical, critical care, lab, pharmacy, and outpatient services in line with the local population’s needs.

But the new Fishermen’s Community Hospital will have to be ready for more than just patients. As global climate conditions continue to evolve, and the Florida Keys remain in the path of hurricane events, NELSON’s architectural team is implementing a resilient design concept tailored to the hospital’s unique geographic risks, including:

  • A building envelope and hospital infrastructure designed to withstand Category 5 hurricane wind events
  • Building flood resistant to three feet above the 100-year flood plain to be prepared for flooding conditions, exceeding FEMA criteria
  • Reuse of the existing hospital’s demolition debris to support the foundation and divert additional waste from landfills
  • A structure composed of concrete tilt-up panels for the building envelope and incorporating regional standard building components to minimize time and manpower on site, accommodating a reduced workforce that resulted from residents leaving post-Irma

As construction begins, the new Fishermen’s Community Hospital promises to return to the Middle Keys stronger than ever, providing a vital asset to local residents with a new level of preparedness for the future.

Digital Disruption in Healthcare – Six Ways to Engage Patients for Better Consumer and Provider Outcomes: A Healthcare Industry Analysis by Loyale Healthcare, LLC

https://www.prweb.com/

Patient preferences are driving unprecedented disruption in the U.S. healthcare industry, so providers must adapt to stay relevant

Transparency is certainly part of the picture. But game-winning patient experiences call for a much bigger strategy. One that empowers healthcare providers and their teams to predictably and systematically deliver financial and administrative experiences that are on par with their clinical care.

In some ways, the American healthcare industry looks a lot like the retail industry that many of us remember from the 1990s and earlier. If you wanted something, you had to go get it. Depending on how much time you had, you might take the time to travel to a couple of stores or make a few phone calls to compare prices and availability, but for the most part we were happy with what we could get from the brands we trusted and called it good. We didn’t expect much more than the product we were seeking and a little courteous service from sales staff.

Until very recently, consumers of healthcare in the U.S. had a similar kind of experience. If they felt like they needed care, they went to the provider in their health plan’s network and got what the provider offered. How much it cost wasn’t particularly important because the plan paid for most of it.

That all began to change in the 2,000s. Healthcare’s opaque pricing structure led to year after year of outsized cost increases and the introduction of high-deductible health plans by employers who were no longer able to bear the burden of the higher cost of care. As a result, average family premiums topped a record $20,000 per year in 2018 according to a Kaiser Family Foundation survey. Facing high deductibles and copays, suddenly patients began asking “How much will it cost?” and “How will I pay for it?”. For too many, the answers have been, “I don’t know. They won’t tell me” and “I can’t afford it.”

At the beginning of the millennium, few of us would have guessed that online shopping would soon completely transform the American retail industry. Yet, according to analysis published by Digital Commerce 360, in 2018 alone online purchases in the U.S. amounted to $517 billion, up 15% from the previous year (compared to just 3.9% overall). Perhaps more significantly, this growth in eCommerce led to the closure of 1,521 retail storefronts and accelerated industry consolidation with 21 all-retail acquisitions among companies striving to stay relevant and profitable. Any way you look at it, the business of retail has changed forever.

Transformation in Healthcare is Inevitable

A similar kind of transformation is underway in the American healthcare industry, driven largely by patients. Emboldened by difficult personal financial circumstances and enabled by rapidly advancing technologies and the emergence of new entrants like Haven Healthcare, Walgreens Health, CVS Health and others, patients are demanding more.

Patients are finding allies in state and federal government where the list of proposed legislation and regulations to control costs and improve access contains 927 different bills. Patients, who once represented a small portion of healthcare’s overall operating revenue, are now the third largest (behind only Medicare and Medicaid). As consumers, patients are finding they have a choice when it comes to where and how they get their care. For executives and strategists, patients are now a force that must be reckoned with.

According to the Top health industry issues report from PwC, “The US health industry has often lagged other industries when it comes to modernizing. Once thought to operate outside the greater US economy, the industry—with its byzantine payment system, complicated regulatory barriers and reliance on face-to-face interactions—is being disrupted. Finally, there’s robust evidence that what PwC calls the New Health Economy is kicking into gear.”

This report’s reference to the “New Health Economy”, acknowledges patients’ growing influence and their increasing willingness to break away from traditional care delivery models. The report’s authors note that “54% of consumers would be likely to try an FDA-approved app or online tool for treatment.” Additionally, it challenges providers to “Create the Southwest Airlines of healthcare”, by finding ways to serve patients who are un- or under-insured and do it profitably.

This comparison to a well-recognized consumer brand is not an accident. More than ever, healthcare providers are now in the business of winning and keeping patients and the revenue controlled by the choices patients make. One example is HCA Healthcare’s recent acquisition of 24 MedSpring urgent care centers, growing its urgent care network to 160 centers across the country. In response to increasing demand for healthcare services that are closer to where people live and work, HCA is adapting to “provide more convenient access for our patients”. Significantly, these outpatient services are also less costly for patients and providers, as studied in this recent Loyale article.

For Patients, It’s Only One Experience

Healthcare providers have made significant investments in technologies and systems to improve the quality of clinical care and comply with regulatory requirements for health information privacy, security and portability. Advanced clinical applications and the industry’s virtually universal adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems represent some of the important and beneficial outcomes of these multi-billion dollar investments.

Great as these improvements are, the industry is only now facing the fact that patients don’t measure their experiences by clinical metrics alone. To win and keep patients’ healthcare “business”, every patient touchpoint must be understood and addressed. For many, that process begins with price transparency, something the current administration and CMS have made a high priority as a means of “enabling patients to be active consumers of healthcare”.

For us at Loyale, transparency is certainly part of the picture. But delivering game-winning patient experiences calls for a much bigger strategy. One that empowers healthcare providers and their teams to predictably and systematically deliver financial and administrative experiences that are on par with their clinical care. We believe that this will be the new standard by which healthcare providers are judged in the New Health Economy.

Six Ways to Engage Patients for Better Consumer and Provider Outcomes

As healthcare providers turn their attention toward patients’ experiences in dimensions other than clinical care, they are considering new ways to structure and deliver multi-dimensional care experiences that are more affordable and convenient. To compete and win in the new consumer-driven healthcare market, Loyale has learned that each of the following six elements must be present in order to remove obstacles to care and address deteriorating patient satisfaction that results from unsatisfactory nonclinical experiences.

1.    Full scope payment integration – A coherent, integrated bridge to make payment the outcome of engagement, not just an isolated transaction. This is characterized by automated fund distribution, full-scope tender types and technologies, refund management and electronic refunds, lowest-cost merchant routing, single-threaded control and reconciliation

2.    Omnichannel engagement – Intelligent, context-sensitive communications where patients want it and/or where their behavior shows they are most responsive. Adaptable for clinical communications too: This includes virtual consolidated bills, messaging via email and mobile SMS, secure chat, fully integrable with RCM vendors

3.    Open architecture – Solutions like Loyale Patient Financial Manager™ operate a single, secure hub that enables seamless interoperability between all existing and future technologies and processes for long-term durability and value: this structure facilitates integrated, unbiased vendor management, single sign-on for both clinical and financial portals

4.    Affordability, for patients and providers – The Loyale Affordability Workbench™ delivers pricing and payment strategies that align with provider objectives for improved access, lower costs and better patient collections while making care more affordable for patients – all configurable by setting

5.    Staff and enterprise-friendly – Process improvement tools and reporting to improve staff productivity and satisfaction and deliver best-in-breed revenue cycle decision analytics: User-friendly, provider facing functionality that gives providers visibility into behavioral patient intelligence, real-time patient experience assessments, intelligent collection workflows and enterprise analytics, all HIPAA, PCI, HITRUST, SOC2 audited

6.    End to end coherence of data, process, point solutions, analytics and management for a One Bed, One Bill experience: Full integration of all systems, single source of payers’ behavioral truth, a fully controllable patient financial experience offering peerless visibility into revenue cycle vendor performance

Loyale has been optimizing the payment behavior of consumers and patients for nearly thirty years. We were among the first to recognize the growing importance of patient choice in a changing healthcare marketplace, so we designed and engineered Loyale’s Patient Financial Engagement Platform to address each of these six patient experience imperatives. Now operating for more than 12,000 healthcare facilities across 48 states and processing more than 100,000 patient encounters daily, we’re pleased to play an important role in healthcare’s transition to the “New Health Economy”.

Early bird pricing for ICH E6 GCP Interactive Workshops ends on Oct. 11.

Has a risk assessment been correctly instituted at both the system and clinical trial levels?

Have vendors been qualified correctly?

FDAnews has teamed up with Technical Resources International Inc. to present three days of hands-on workshops aimed at helping attendees understand and comply with ICH E6 (R2) rules. Regardless of where one fits on the clinical trials spectrum, one or both of these workshops is sure to be a right fit.

Course 1 (Two Days)

How to Build a Sponsor Risk Management Program

Wednesday-Thursday, Nov. 13-14, 2019

Trial sponsors now must institute risk assessment at both the system and clinical trial levels. Has a program been established yet? Is the company maintenance program complete? If not, this hands-on, interactive workshop is just the ticket. Prepare to discover:

  • How to establish a program step-by-step
  • Critical elements of starting a program: A walk-through
  • How to conduct risk assessment at both system and clinical trial levels
  • Evaluating the risks: Company options
  • Risk mitigation and reporting strategies
  • Common pitfalls and how to sidestep them
  • And much more!

Course 2 (One Day)

Supplier/Vendor/Contractor Qualification

Friday, Nov. 15, 2019

The updates to ICH E6 (R2) require vendor qualification. Has a process been formalized and documented? Are there back-up vendors in place in the event something goes wrong for all the critical supplies? How fast are vendors qualified? During this one-day workshop attendees will learn a systematic approach to ensure all vendors and suppliers are able to perform to company standards.

The leader, Dr. Susan Leister, Director-QA of Technical Resources International, is a seasoned veteran of the clinical trial wars. She’ll walk attendees through key elements of quality and supply agreements, and highlight challenges in the vendor qualification process and how to resolve them. Among the specifics she’ll cover:

  • Requirements for a compliant vendor/supplier/contractor qualification program
  • Applying a risk-based approach to the supplier/vendor selection process
  • Understanding supplier assessments, pre-approval and re-assessment
  • Quality agreements and supplier agreements
  • How to handle vendor problems up to vendor disqualification
  • And more besides!

Getting new drugs to market is too important to leave to chance. Make sure all the i’s are dotted and all the t’s are crossed. These workshops get one where one needs to be … in a hurry.

Early bird pricing ends on Friday, October 11.
