“How Health Innovators Maximize Market Success”

News Image

Ninety-five percent of healthcare innovations that are launched in the market fail. Why? These products simply did not reach an adequate level of customer acceptance and profitability. How can this change? Health innovators need to learn evidence-based guidelines and practices to increase their chances for market success.

These guidelines and practices will be revealed today in the new book “How Health Innovators Maximize Market Success: Strategies to Launch and Commercialize Healthcare Innovations,” by Dr. Roxie, DBA, CEO of Legacy DNA, a firm dedicated to strategy for health innovators. Dr. Roxie, who is a 20-year healthcare marketing veteran and professor, based the book on the CoIQ Early Adoption Commercialization Strategy, a blueprint she developed to guide health innovators through making informed and evidence-based commercialization decisions.

In the book, Dr. Roxie has laid out effective launching and commercialization strategies that can drive market success. She designed the book for health innovators keen on learning how to set up the key components of an early adoption commercialization strategy. It also provides practical tips and insights on pilot relationships, product development and patient co-creation, and branding, among many others.

“Successful health innovators look to users and buyers to offer hidden insights, inspire new ideas, bring them back to reality, and help position innovations for commercial success,” says Dr. Roxie. “Until now, it was impossible for innovators to find this information in one place. The book provides a look at the CoIQ blueprint to guide health innovators toward their best real-world strategies and maximize the potential of every innovation brought to market.”

“For those who find themselves in the critical phase of launching a business or new product, Dr. Roxie Mooney’s book, “How Health Innovators Maximize Market Success,” is a must-read,” says Joseph Kvedar, MD, vice president of Connected Health/Partners Healthcare and Harvard Medical School professor. “The intertwined relationship between marketing and strategy is a pervasive theme in this book — and in Roxie’s work. So, as you might expect, her book is chock full of lessons learned, to guide an entrepreneur though the gauntlet of commercialization of a healthcare business.”

“In this book, Dr.Roxie Mooney’s rich experience in the field combined with the knowledge that she has gathered from top health innovators, early adopters, and influencers are laid out for start-up companies to help them with their launch and commercialization decisions,” says Mitchell Levy (http://aha.pub/MitchellLevy), Global Credibility Expert and The AHA Guy at AHAthat® (https://AHAthat.com).

Connected Health Interactive Workshop

In addition to the book launch at the 2019 Connected Health Conference, Dr. Roxie will today host an interactive workshop, “Patient Co-creation: If Everybody’s Doing it, Why Are We Here?” also at the conference. Built on insights from the book, the workshop will address biases that can make innovations prone to failure and reveal the importance of product development through patient co-creation — and a hands-on introduction to the Five Co-s Product Co-Creation Framework: Co-Ideation, Co-Valuation, Co-Design, Co-Test, and Co-Launch.

Book Availability

Hardcover, paperback, and Kindle versions of this book are available on Amazon and will be available at the 2019 Connected Health Conference. Healthcare innovators can download the Kindle version of this book free of charge from Oct. 16-20 at: https://amzn.to/2IFbZjJ.

About Dr. Roxie

Dr. Roxie Mooney, DBA helps health innovators maximize market success. She combined 20 years in marketing, 10 years as an agency owner, and a doctorate in business that uniquely focuses on healthcare innovation into a blueprint for making commercialization decisions. It’s called CoIQ Early Adoption Commercialization Strategy, and that’s what helps health innovators not only avoid failure but increase their chances of success and ensure they are making the most of their healthcare innovation.

She also produces and hosts CoIQ with Dr. Roxie, a first-of-its-kind interactive video and podcast show where top health innovators, early adopters, and influencers speak candidly about their healthcare innovation experiences. School Districts Partnering with Gaggle Saved More Than 700 Students from Suicide in 2018-19

News Image

“Gaggle triggered additional help for the students whom we may have otherwise missed,” said Dr. Melissa Williams-Scott, Executive Director of Information Systems at Dickinson ISD. “We’ve been very pleased with our investment in Gaggle.”

From self-harm to violence towards others to the sharing of nudity and sexual content, K-12 students are engaging in an alarming number of dangerous behaviors, and they are leaving evidence of this behavior in their online activity within Google’s G Suite, Microsoft Office 365 and the Canvas learning management system. According to a new national student safety report from Gaggle, The State of Student Safety Through the Gaggle Lens, from July 2018 through June 2019, Gaggle safety experts identified nearly 14,000 incidents revealing an imminent threat to a student’s life or well-being — and more than 40 percent of these happened outside of school hours.

“With over 100,000 safety issues observed among Gaggle’s nearly 5 million users in 2018-19 — including nearly 13,000 cases deemed serious enough to warrant immediate action — it’s clear that K-12 leaders have their work cut out for them in keeping students safe,” said Jeff Patterson, Gaggle CEO. “While students may appear to be fine at school, they often express their thoughts and feelings more freely online. School leaders might never know about students’ cries for help unless they have visibility into their use of school-issued digital tools.”

During the 2018-19 school year, Gaggle reported:

  • 52,000 references to suicide or self-harm in students’ online activity. Of these, more than 6,000 were serious enough to merit immediate attention by the district, which resulted in more than 700 lives saved.
  • 34,000 references of violence toward others. Of these, more than 1,600 warranted an immediate call to prevent a potential incident.
  • 15,000 examples of nudity or sexual content, of which 5,100 required immediate action.

These figures come from Gaggle’s safety management solution, which uses a combination of artificial intelligence and trained safety experts to help K-12 districts proactively ensure the safety and well-being of all students. During the 2018/19 academic school year, Gaggle analyzed and viewed over 3.9 billion items of which 70 million items were reviewed for suspicious content. Gaggle is committed to keeping students safe by scanning school accounts for harmful content. They then alert school officials when students show signs of self-harm, depression, thoughts of suicide, substance abuse, cyberbullying, credible threats of violence against others, or other harmful situations.

Before implementing Gaggle, Dickinson Independent School District (DISD) was struggling with encryption and content filter challenges related to its use of Google and G Suite for Education, the latter of which is used for both student and staff communication and collaboration. Drawn in by Gaggle’s 24/7/365 online guarantee and the way it could quickly identify, act on, and alert the district of potential problems, DISD implemented the platform in August of 2018. During the platform’s first year in use, the district caught numerous potential problems that ranged from seemingly innocent sentences to full-blown emergencies—and everything in between.

“Gaggle triggered additional help for the students whom we may have otherwise missed,” said Dr. Melissa Williams-Scott, Executive Director of Information Systems at Dickinson ISD. “We’ve been very pleased with our investment in Gaggle, which is basically like having your own personal ‘911’ system specifically for your district.”

The State of Student Safety Through the Gaggle Lens report is available at https://pages.gaggle.net/18-19-safetyreport/.

About Gaggle| http://www.gaggle.net

Since 1999, Gaggle has been the leader in helping K-12 districts manage student safety on school-provided technology. Using a robust combination of both artificial intelligence and trained safety experts, the safety solution proactively assists districts 24/7/365 in the prevention of student suicide, bullying, inappropriate behaviors, school violence, and other harmful situations. Most importantly, Gaggle continues to help hundreds of districts avoid tragedies and save lives, while also protecting their liability. In the 2018-19 academic year, Gaggle has helped districts save the lives of more than 700 students who were planning or actually attempting suicide. Student Surveys Conducted by Industry Leader Pride Surveys Along with Surveys Conducted by Two Additional Organizations Show Large Increases in Vaping by 12th Graders

https://www.prweb.com/

Pride Surveys Nicotine Vaping Chart

Here at Pride we have been monitoring e-cigarette use for our customers for the last five years and have seen the numbers explode. We feel it is important to lend our data to the conversation during this ’wild-west’ time for vaporizers.

Statistics from Pride Surveys, a national leader in student survey data collection, show that vaping increased across the board for all students in grades 6-12 over a two-year period. The largest increase was found amongst 12th-grade students, 32.6% of whom reported using a nicotine vaporizer in the last 30 days, an increase year over year of 10.8% between 2017 and 2018.

These numbers are especially concerning given the CDC’s guidance on vaping tobacco products: E-cigarettes are not safe for youth, young adults, pregnant women, or adults who do not currently use tobacco products. Equally alarming is the current outbreak of identified cases of lung disease related to vaping products.

The Pride Survey and the Pride Survey Plus collected data from 5,306 12th grade students across the country and in communities where there are active community coalitions combating substance use in youth. The data are self-reported statistics from students used to evaluate the effectiveness of programs that are being implemented in the communities and to determine the need for such programs.

The publicly funded Monitoring the Future Survey, the National Youth Tobacco Survey, and the Pride Survey all show similar rates of increase in tobacco vaping. The Monitoring the Future Survey shows a 9.9% increase over the previous year and the National Youth Tobacco Survey shows a 10.8% increase which matched the increase reported by the Pride Survey. Although the surveys are not directly comparable due to differing methodologies, question structure, and cohorts, the similarities in these statistics help validate each other.

“The news about the current health issues and, in some instances, deaths are devastating. The Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition is taking these reports seriously and is currently looking into educational materials and programming that can be distributed/presented to our counties youth in hopes of curbing the appeal of vaping/e-cigarette use,” said Jeff Hill, Director, Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition. “The WCSPC feels that by providing access to real-time data and information, we can educate youth on the harms of e-cigarette usage, as well as parents in ways to identify when, how, and if their child may be using these products.”

“Here at Pride we have been monitoring e-cigarette use for our customers for the last five years and have seen the numbers explode. We feel it is important to lend our data to the conversation during this ’wild-west’ time for vaporizers,” said Jay Gleaton, President and CEO of Pride Surveys. “While we are still learning about the impact of vapor on the lungs, we already know about the habit-forming and developmental effects that the chemical nicotine can have on children and young adults’ brains.”

These survey results come at a time when big tobacco is taking notice of the trends in vaporizer products with the parent company of Marlboro buying a 35 percent stake in the vaping company JUUL for 13 billion dollars.

Pride Surveys has been collecting data on youth substance abuse and behavioral trends since 1982 and providing schools and communities with the ability to perform their own valid and reliable needs assessments tailored to the students in individual school settings.

About Pride Surveys: Pride Surveys was created in 1982 by professors at Georgia State University in Atlanta and Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Their purpose was to help local schools measure student alcohol, tobacco and other drug use through the use of student surveys. Since then, the survey company has developed a full range of survey products that measure behavior on many crucial issues that can affect learning, such as school climate, family, discipline, safety, substance use, perceptions of harm and more.
