Workit Health Expands Telehealth Addiction Care Program to New Jersey

Online Therapy

We’re excited to join the communities and organizations in New Jersey impacting the overdose crisis, and leverage our technology and care teams to provide long-term recovery for New Jerseyans.

Today, Workit Health announced the expansion of its virtual, on-demand individualized services for addiction care to New Jersey. The telehealth substance use and opioid use disorder B-corporation will open an outpatient clinic in Hamilton, near Trenton in Mercer County in order to provide teleMAT alongside its coaching and counseling programs. Workit Health’s easy-to-use web and phone apps and robust EMR synthesize machine learning with patient-led design to enable smarter interventions and more personalized care. The company’s outcomes prove their commitment to disrupting the cycle of high-cost, inefficient addiction services, with a higher adherence and retention rate than traditional treatment types at 1/10th of the cost.

Annual opioid-related overdose deaths in New Jersey are nearly five times those both from car crashes and firearms. In 2018, the state experienced record drug deaths for the fourth straight year, with the overwhelming number of deaths being opioid-related. It’s estimated that even in the face of this crisis only one quarter of addiction treatment providers offer medication like buprenorphine — recognized as the gold standard of care for opioid-use disorder by SAMHSA.

“New Jersey has taken the lead on expanding access to buprenorphine by allowing paramedics to offer treatment,” says Lisa McLaughlin, Workit Health’s Co-CEO. “We’re excited to join the communities and organizations in New Jersey impacting the overdose crisis, and leverage our technology and care teams to provide long-term recovery for New Jerseyans.”

“We know that 90% of addiction care costs in New Jersey are utilized by people who have already received treatment but found it ineffective – Workit Health is something different and more accessible for this population,” says Robin McIntosh, Workit Health’s Co-CEO. “Members in our Michigan and California programs are thriving, and we’re ready to bring these same outcomes to the entire state of New Jersey.”

Workit Health removes barriers while solving for social determinants of health by allowing home-based, digital access to clinicians and counselors. Following an initial in-person visit for the teleMAT program, members access all follow-up care via web and phone apps, including video visits with clinicians, online recovery groups, messaging with a care team, personalized therapy-based courses, and at-home drug testing.

About Workit Health: Workit Health is an addiction healthcare B-corporation offering online, on-demand evidence-based addiction treatment including telehealth medication for opioid use disorder. Workit Health partners with healthcare organizations to deliver an innovative digital health solution that blends the best of human-centered design, technology, and science. Through mobile and web apps, members meet with clinicians and Master’s level coaches and complete self-set recovery goals. Workit Health offers 24/7 recovery that fits into daily life, designed by experts. Learn more at workithealth.com.

Meridian Senior Living Communities Recognize National Alzheimer’s Disease Month

Walkers at Walk to end alzheimer's event

Walking to end Alzheimer’s. Participants from Meridian Senior Living’s community Gentry Park Orlando.

When someone in the family has dementia, it changes everything.

Building upon the momentum of raising over $35,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s as a National Team Member, Meridian Senior Living, LLC (Meridian) will recognize National Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in November and host free memory care workshops in their communities. In 1983, President Ronald Reagan dedicated November to Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to increase awareness and demystify fallacies surrounding the disease. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, in 2019 there are 5.8 million Americans living with AD and this figure is expected to triple by year 2050, AD ranks as the sixth leading cause of death in the nation and is incurable, AD follows a 14 year course and goes untreated for half of that time, screening is vital as intervention is most effective during the early course of the disease, heart healthy diet and lifestyle help prevent AD, and the total cost in the U.S. associated with AD in 2019 is estimated at $290 billion. Understanding the disease has become increasingly important in helping afflicted family members and loved ones experience better outcomes.

“When someone in the family has dementia, it changes everything,” states Sue Johnston, VP Program Development. “We understand the challenges you face and know that it is essential for you to have support, education, and an understanding of how important it is to take care of yourself.”

To offer families and caregivers strategies to cope with the challenges AD presents, Meridian communities are hosting free sessions: Caregiver Café and Mini Dementia Workshops based on Meridian’s exclusive memory care programming: Montessori Moments in Time (MMIT). The goals of MMIT are to enhance living for those with memory challenges by using the five directional paths. Each directional path has the resident and family in mind to encourage independence and helps deal with the progression of Alzheimer’s disease and other related dementias. These paths include Family Connections, Health and Wellness, Dining Experience, Life Engagement, and Team Promise. Family Connections focus on the well-being of our families through social gatherings, volunteer opportunities, support, and education. Health and Wellness is based on providing satisfying experiences, promoting independence, and encouraging positive behavior while maintaining respect and dignity. The Dining Experience leverages meals as a time to reminisce, create new memories, maximize independence, and promote socializing, all in an inviting environment. Life Engagement includes scheduled programs that support the whole person allowing residents to function at their highest potential, giving them a sense of purpose and overall well-being. Team Promise focuses on developing care partnerships through ongoing education and training.

The Caregiver Café program offers an opportunity for caregivers of loved ones who suffer from AD or dementia to participate in a forum to ask questions while being surrounded by others going through their same situation. Community onsite experts serve as a resource to provide support for the caregivers and to help them better understand their loved one’s condition. Common topics include: “Alive Inside”, Tips for the Holidays”, and “Care for the Caregiver”.

Understanding the challenges caregivers of those who suffer from Alzheimer’s or dementia face daily, onsite experts run the free Mini-Dementia workshops that cover topics of importance to caregivers. Each month, the workshops cover a different topic regarding memory impairment. Sample topics include: “Three Stages of Alzheimer’s”, “Holiday Tips for Caregivers”, and “What is Dementia?”.

Scheduled times and chef prepared meals for these free workshops vary by community location. Since there are limited spaces in these workshops, interested participants should reserve their spot by contacting a Meridian community near them by visiting: meridian.com/communities. For more information about Meridian communities, visit meridiansenior.com.

PHYTOMER introduces OLIGOFORCE ADVANCED Wrinkle and Dark Spot Correction Moisturizing Serum with OLIGOMER®

https://www.prweb.com/

OLIGOFORCE ADVANCED Wrinkle and Dark Spot Correction Moisturizing Serum with OLIGOMER®

OLIGOFORCE ADVANCED combats skin disorders of the 21st century including wrinkles caused by accelerated free radical formation, inflammation, pre-mature aging and hyperpigmentation.

This next-generation daily treatment combines the comfort of an oil and the effectiveness of a serum. Its micro-emulsion texture concentrates powerful marine actives that, thanks to the formulation expertise taken from the pharmaceutical world, can be absorbed quickly and deeply into the skin.

Within this OLIGOFORCE formula lies a historic active ingredient emblematic of Phytomer: OLIGOMER®. This seawater concentrate helps to jumpstart skin functions because it contains all naturally occurring trace elements and minerals to improve the skin’s respiration. OLIGOFORCE ADVANCED combats skin disorders of the 21st century including wrinkles caused by accelerated free radical formation, inflammation, pre-mature aging and hyperpigmentation.

Eternal Marine is an extract from an ancient blue microalgae that has survived because of its ability to adapt and thrive in extreme living conditions. This algae has an advanced defense system, namely the ability to produce a powerful anti-oxidant molecule that is also found in the skin, Thioredoxin. When Eternal Marine is applied to the skin it significantly activates the skin’s natural production of Thioredoxin which provides comprehensive protective and reparative properties for many cells and functions in the skin. In addition to its anti-oxidant effects, Eternal Marine smooths wrinkles by preserving the integrity and accelerating the production of collagen and elastin, by improving the supply of vitamin C to the skin and increasing the number of collagen producing cells in the skin. Eternal Marine also offers complete protection from inflammation which reduces hyperpigmentation in the skin for an even, illuminated complexion.

Directions for use: Massage a few drops into the skin alone or before moisturizers and masks, carefully avoiding the eye contour area.

Key ingredients:

  • Oligomer – this signature seawater concentrate contains all the active compounds of seawater to replenish cells with trace elements and minerals to recharge them with energy and jumpstart healthy cell function.
  • Eternal Marine – Blue micro-algae extract that contains the powerful anti-oxidant Thioredoxin, which is also naturally produced by the skin. The application of Eternal Marine activates the skin’s production of Thioredoxin which initiates repair and regeneration in the dermis for a wrinkle smoothing effect. Its anti-oxidant activity neutralizes inflammation which, in turn, reduces inflammation for an even, illuminated complexion.

Clinical Results:

RADIANT, HEALTHIER SKIN: for over 8 out of 10 women.

CONTINUOUS HYDRATION:(1)

State of Washington Wins NASCIO Award for Track-Kit Sexual Assault Kit Tracking System

News Image

The State of Washington received a NASCIO award for implementing STACS DNA’s Track-Kit to track the location and status of every sexual assault kit across the state.

For its implementation of the Track-Kit Sexual Assault Kit System from STACS DNA, the State of Washington received a 2019 State IT Recognition Award from the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO). Washington State Patrol (WSP), STACS DNA’s client, won the State CIO Office Special Recognition Award from over 130 submissions.

As described in WSP’s submission, “Prior to this legislation, survivors had no way of knowing the location or status of their kit. The Tracking System provides start-to-finish SAK inventory tracking to deliver accountability, transparency and information sharing among all stakeholders, and most importantly provide the survivor with peace of mind. Through the extended use of this system, it will create more efficiency and accountability in SAK evidence workflows, thereby preventing the accumulation of un-submitted kits.”

STACS DNA played a significant role in developing and delivering statewide training, as described in the proposal. Live web-based training proves cost-effective, timely, and reduces the number of trainers needed. The company also provides online training resources, assistance and curriculum to end users, which are continuously updated using lessons learned during deployment. FAQs, self-paced videos and full user documentation are accessible within Track-Kit. The proposal also outlines the legislation, stakeholders, implementation process and impact of the system.

WSP has become a national pioneer in regards to its SAK Tracking System Program as many states have used Washington’s model for their own SAK tracking programs. Globally, the program has received worldwide recognition following presentations at several international meetings.

According to NASCIO Awards Committee co-chairs, Denis Goulet, Commissioner for the State of New Hampshire, and Nelson Moe, Chief Information Officer for the Commonwealth of Virginia, “The recipients and submissions for this year’s awards are prime examples of how state IT can transform and improve the lives of the citizens we serve. We are proud to recognize them with this high honor.”

ABOUT STACS DNA

STACS DNA offers sample tracking software for forensics and healthcare. Track-Kit™ tracks every kit statewide to prevent delays, improve compliance and keep thousands of stakeholders informed. STACS® software is the most comprehensive DNA sample tracking and lab management software, maximizing processing throughput and minimizing risk. Patrick Kennedy Added to Impressive List of Presenters at National Recovery Conference

https://www.prweb.com/

Patrick Kennedy and CCAR Executive Director, Phil Valentine

“This is a pivotal moment for the Recovery Movement – worldwide. Awareness is growing and people are flocking to the message of hope that Recovery provides. CCAR is honored to be in a position to bring together such a diverse group of leaders and people in Recovery.”

The Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) is a non-profit that was founded in 1998. Since then, the organization has grown into an international presence in the Recovery Movement. Though CCAR has held their National Conference for four years, the present state of the opioid crisis conveys another level of importance to this diverse gathering of leaders and people in Recovery.

The Conference, held in Punta Gorda, Florida, draws attendees from all over the world – many of whom work in the Recovery field, are in Recovery, or are allies of the Recovery Movement. Some attendees may just be curious about Recovery, others may attend to simply hear the moving speeches or participate in the outdoor events. No matter how one approaches the conference, the scope of experience and expertise represented not only in conference presenters, but in attendees as well, is humbling.

In addition to keynote speeches and appearances from Patrick Kennedy, William White, Don Coyhis, Haner Hernández, Mark Lundholm, Shannon Egan, Ryan Hampton and many others – conference participants will be able to attend a variety of diverse workshops and panels facilitated by experts. Focus will be on the Multiple Pathways of Recovery, Self Care, Recovery Advocacy, and Recovery Coaching. These workshops can include anything from practicing Yoga as a pathway of Recovery to a panel on Medication Assisted Treatment.

The conference kicks off on November 13, 2019, is a 3-day affair, and costs $250 to attend. Participants are able to chart their own path during the conference, with the ability to pick from a variety of different workshops, speeches, or activities at any given time. Space is limited and the event is expected to sell out. Those interested in learning more or registering for the event can visit The Conference Website

At a time where communities are searching for solutions to the substance crisis gripping our nation, this event is a place where some answers could be found.

EduCare Announces NEW Recurrent and Metastatic Breast Cancer Treatment Handbook

For years, recurrent and metastatic breast cancer patients have often felt overlooked. Metastatic breast cancer patients live each day with an incurable disease and must face ongoing treatment regimens as well as intense physical, psychological and emotional issues. Author, Judy C. Kneece, RN, OCN, is excited to release the new Recurrent and Metastatic Breast Cancer Treatment Handbook. She wrote this book to not only educate women about treatments for recurrent and metastatic breast cancer, but just as importantly, she writes about the personal side – the fears, the sorrows, the pain and the choices a woman faces after hearing her diagnosis.

Judy C. Kneece, RN, OCN, states, “This book is about helping you, a recurrent or metastatic patient, take charge of decisions about your life. It offers no guarantees, but it does promise you can live your life fully while dealing with recurrent/metastatic breast cancer if you decide to. You choose what actions you will take – you can make no mistakes. In this area, you are the expert.” Her goal is to provide a woman the tools she needs to live her life to the fullest, while fighting this battle.

Based on the premise that well-informed patients make the best patients, the Recurrent and Metastatic Breast Cancer Treatment Handbook covers cancer treatment (types of recurrence, treatment decisions, second opinions, surgical options, reconstruction options, treatment medications and radiation therapy), emotional issues (facing anxiety and depression, helping children cope, communicating with the healthcare team, creating a support team, facing death) and ongoing treatment issues (pain management, insurance, diet and exercise, sexuality problems). The book also has a comprehensive appendix that explains diagnostic tests, chemotherapy drugs and clinical trials.

In her review of the book, Beth Baughman DuPree, MD, FACS, ABOIM wrote, “This handbook will help you navigate the medical, emotional and spiritual challenges you are about to face. Metastatic breast cancer is a ‘chronic disease’ and there is no way to know what path your cancer journey will follow. Releasing fear and finding peace allows each moment of your life to be savored and appreciated. This is an invaluable guide for every woman facing a metastatic breast cancer diagnosis.”

EduCare Inc., a dedicated breast health education company, was founded in January 1994 by Judy C. Kneece, RN, OCN. For more than 25 years, EduCare has been a leader in providing the highest quality breast health educational materials for patients and healthcare providers and in offering continuing training to healthcare professionals.

The Recurrent and Metastatic Breast Cancer Treatment Handbook may be purchased directly through EduCare at http://www.EduCareInc.com or by phone at 843.760.6064. It is also available on Amazon.
