Spectrum Vision Partners Recognized as a Top Performer Among Newsday’s Top Long Island Workplaces 2019

SVP Family

” …this is indeed a proud achievement. My congratulations go out to all…valuable staff members who serve our healthcare clients including OCLI and Island Eye Surgicenter on Long Island.” – Tom Burke, CEO Spectrum Vision Partners

Spectrum Vision Partners claimed 13th place in a list of over 100 employers in Newsday’s Top Long Island Workplaces for 2019. The recently announced rankings honor those organizations where employees feel engaged, appreciated, and empowered.

During the selection process, Newsday worked in partnership with Energage to conduct surveys into organizational health and identify Long Island workplaces where employees feel their work is valued; where they identify with the company’s goals and vision; and where they express confidence in their leadership. With employee surveys of over 100 companies, Spectrum Vision Partners was one of the groups’ recognized top performers.

“The Top Workplaces award is not a popularity contest,” said Doug Claffey, CEO of Energage. “Organizations must meet high standards in the eyes of their employees. People often mistakenly assume it’s all about pay, fancy perks, and benefits. It’s really about organizational health, and that starts with good leadership. Having a good workplace is essential for hiring, retaining, and motivating talent.”

Tom Burke, CEO of Spectrum Vision Partners, was pleased with the results. “It’s nice to see Spectrum honored as a winning company and to receive some well-deserved recognition for the good things we accomplish. As a fairly large employer competing with private businesses, nonprofits, and government organizations, this is indeed a proud achievement. My congratulations go out to all the doctors, managers, administrators, HR team, and other valuable staff members who serve our healthcare clients including OCLI and Island Eye Surgicenter on Long Island.”

Regular Checkups and Good Dental Hygiene Habits can Keep Candy from Causing Scary Cavities Year-Round, says Elegant Dentistry

Vigilant dental hygiene habits can make the difference when even grownups may inevitably indulge in that second cup of sugary coffee or midnight ice cream snack.

October 29 article on WFLA offers the post-holiday suggestion that eating post-Halloween candy – or candy at any time when more than usual is being consumed – is best done near other meal times, as this is when saliva production is at its peak. In doing so, the sugars and acids found in candy are more likely to be neutralized, significantly reducing the chances of developing cavities and other dental ailments. Of course, the article also points out that one night of candy binging probably will not ruin teeth, but constant snacking can be a serious threat. Marina del Rey-based dental center Elegant Dentistry says that individuals should always try to limit their consumption of sugary or acidic foods and beverages, but that vigilant dental hygiene habits can make the difference when even grownups may inevitably indulge in that second cup of sugary coffee or midnight ice cream snack.

The dental center says that with so many world-class restaurants and dessert specialty shops in and around Los Angeles, it can be challenging to avoid food and drinks that are harmful to teeth. However, the clinic notes that by maintaining proper dental hygiene habits and not skipping appointments for preventive general dentistry, patients are far less likely to develop dental ailments. One of the worst things a person can do to their teeth, the clinic adds, is to eat or drink something sugary or acidic right before falling asleep, without taking care of their teeth first. The clinic explains that this allows those sugars and acids to go virtually unchecked throughout the night where they can maximize their potential damage.

Elegant Dentistry also notes that knowing how to brush properly can be just as important: most patients are unaware that they should wait between 15 and 30 minutes after eating, or drinking something acidic, for the enamel on their teeth to re-mineralize before brushing. Brushing before this period can actually damage teeth. The dental center says that patients should also floss in between their teeth to remove plaque and bits of food from hard to reach places. Finally, a mouth rinse further removes any remaining food particles while sanitizing a person’s mouth, the center notes.

With all of that in mind, the clinic notes that great dental habits must also include professional assistance from time to time. Even the most vigilant among us can suffer from a multitude of dental ailments; so visiting a dentist for checkups is of prime importance. Elegant Dentistry notes that a professionally trained dentist can spot ailments before they start, even before they start causing problems for the patient. Visiting the dentist for a regular checkup can go a long way towards safeguarding a patient’s clean and healthy smile.

Readers can find out more about all of Elegant Dentistry’s services by visiting their website at https://elegantdentistry.net/ or by calling (310) 827-2792.

Uniform Advantage Collaborates with AdventHealth

Advent Team Members

Team members were able to try things on, feel the different fabrics, see the styles and test the pockets

These events are extremely convenient for team members to attend and are an excellent way to enhance program adoption and compliance.

Uniform Advantage (UA), was selected as the exclusive uniform provider to support AdventHealth, one of the nation’s largest faith-based health systems, as it underwent its brand transition from Adventist Health System. The contract award kicked off a massive program implementation process – from product selection to fitting events to uniform delivery. The scope of the new uniform program included more than 45,000 team members, in both clinical and non-clinical roles within the organization, spanning across dozens of facilities nationwide including hospital campuses, urgent care centers, home health and hospice agencies, and nursing homes across the AdventHealth footprint.

“Having a partner with experience in this space and that has done this with multiple organizations of different scale is helpful as you’re going through a pretty significant transition,” says Olesea Acevedo, chief human resources officer for AdventHealth. “It was great to be able to have Uniform Advantage as a partner to help us along this journey to make this a much easier process than we had initially anticipated.”

To meet the ambitious timeline for the project, UA hosted on-site mobile stores at AdventHealth locations in Florida, Kansas, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Georgia and Texas. The events were designed to expedite the fitting and order placement process, while reducing disruption and time away from the bedside.

“Using our retail expertise, we were able to create an efficient, personalized shopping experience for AdventHealth team members,” commented Corey Heller, executive vice president of business development for Uniform Advantage. “We believe onsite mobile fittings are the keystone to a successful program implementation. These events are extremely convenient for team members to attend and are an excellent way to enhance program adoption and compliance.”

Each mobile store offered the full range of approved products, in all available sizes. Team members were provided a guided, personalized shopping experience and given the opportunity to order at the event.

“One thing we wanted to do was give our team members the opportunity to really be hands on with the new uniform program. Team members were able to try things on, feel the different fabrics, see the styles and test the pockets,” said Anthony Vera Cruz, director of culture integration for AdventHealth. “UA offered a very turnkey and seamless approach that made the process and experience easy for our team members.”

Uniform delivery is underway and expected to be completed in December 2019.

Misty Tyme, founder and owner of 4 The Common Good, LLC

Misty Tyme

Misty Tyme is the consummate forgiveness professional. What I love about her courses is the blend of compassion and understanding with excellent tools like “Will and Skill” from which everyone can benefit.

If dreading the holidays means seeing the Ex, or being with family members that fight and dredge up the past, the newly released Forgiveness Courses created by Misty Tyme might be the answer to leaving the dread behind. Part one of the Forgiveness Course is: Understanding What Forgiveness Is and What It Is Not. Part two: How to Forgive Your Ex. Part three is: How to Forgive Your Family. More information can be found on the newly launched website, mistytyme.com.

In these step-by-step courses, Tyme teaches how to forgive and let go which will make the holiday season a more joyful time as it is meant to be. What people don’t know or lose sight of in harboring the un-willingness or inability to forgive is they are desperate for an apology and want the other person to change. And they are stuck in the myths and misconceptions of what forgiveness really is. “Many people want to feel better and want to let go of pain, anger and unfilled expectations that is un-forgiveness. The problem is, people do not know how. In both of my courses, I give people the how with a dash of humor so they can live happier and have better relationships. Forgiveness really is the link between love and healing,” says Misty Tyme.

Misty Tyme is the consummate forgiveness professional. What I love about her courses is the blend of compassion and understanding with excellent tools like “Will and Skill” from which everyone can benefit.
