Acutis Announces AMP Presentation and Publication

Acutis Biosciences, a division of Acutis Diagnostics, announces that its scientific presentation and publication, “Clinical Evaluation of a Robust Custom-Designed Multiplexed qPCR Microarray for Urinary Tract Infections” is the subject of both a poster presentation at the upcoming Association for Molecular Pathology meeting, as well as an abstract in the November 2019 issue of The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics. Acutis scientists validated 30 individual molecular assays covering the most common causative agents of urinary tract infections, including both bacteria and fungi, achieving 100% specificity and over 96% sensitivity with 96% accuracy when compared with culture. The rigorous validation process that was used by Acutis is the subject of the presentation.

“We are very excited to announce the details of our infectious disease research and are honored to be selected to present our work at AMP,” said David Goldberg, Managing Director of Acutis Biosciences. UTIs are some of the most common bacterial infections, affecting some 150 million individuals globally. Thus, there is a need for a robust, economic and rapid assay that can pass a rigorous analytical and clinical validation process.

This publication demonstrates the expertise in biomarker and assay development assembled at Acutis Biosciences. “We look forward to expanding our reach with diagnostic and pharmaceutical partners, as well as to the commercial roll out of this assay in 2020,” he continued.

Added Dr. Mayil Shanmugam, Director of Research and Development at Acutis Biosciences and Lead Author of the publication, “our assay is one of the first multiplexed PCR products to undergo the level of rigor that we have utilized during the development process. After working out the design parameters of the array, we then analyzed each individual assay against actual intact organisms for sensitivity, specificity, linearity, interference and stability as well as running checkboarding titration experiments. Our theoretical limit of detection calculation was shown to match the actual assay performance for each and every organism we evaluated, thus demonstrating a robust assay design. We also developed a standardized nucleic acid extraction process which we can utilize across a wide range of other applications.” The work performed by Acutis Biosciences also furthers protocols and validation standards for other ongoing research work at the laboratory.

Acutis Biosciences, a member of the Acutis Family of companies, is a provider of biomarker-based analysis, as well as expert assay development and robust data analytics. Acutis Biosciences leverages the clinical expertise of Acutis Diagnostics and its work in analyzing more than 500,000 patient samples and tens of millions of data points. Our team of scientists have established laboratory developed tests across molecular, microbiology and metabolomic platforms.

Kensington Natural Smiles in Kensington, MD

Using the latest technology can often make the difference in a patient’s oral health. Using iTero makes it easier to see the fine details on teeth and to better track patient health over time.

Kensington Natural Smiles is excited to utilize iTero® technology for its dental practice in Kensington, Maryland.

Kensington Natural Smiles is committed to bringing the best and latest technology to its dental patients. According to Susan Ho, D.D.S., “Using the latest technology can often make the difference in a patient’s oral health. Consider how Invisalign® aligners are removable so patients can keep up with regular oral hygiene practices or how dental implants can function like natural teeth. Using iTero makes it easier to see the fine details on teeth and to better track patient health over time.”

About iTero

iTero is a 3D digital scanner that takes precise images of a patient’s teeth at a much higher resolution than traditional x-rays and dental impression material. It looks like a wand that is capable of taking thousands of pictures a minute. Patients no longer need to bite down or gag on uncomfortable viscous material to get the impressions that they need.

iTero improves patient experiences, as it reduces the amount of dental chair time, and significantly improves how dental restorations and appliances fit. Images can be sent instantly to a lab, enabling efficient digital workflows and reducing the amount of time needed to process labs.

iTero technology can be utilized in a number of dental applications, including crowns, bridges, Invisalign orthodontic treatment, and dental implants. It can help dentists better track the wear and movement of teeth over time, making it easier to make a preventative diagnosis for bite problems patients may face in the future.

Compared to traditional methods of dental impressions, iTero technology is:

  • More accurate
  • Faster to record
  • Less prone to user errors
  • Helpful in creating accurate prosthetic devices that require less fine-tuning
  • Faster in creating dental devices
  • More comfortable for patients

Introducing Creative Safety Supply’s New and Improved Floor Marking Guide

When floor marking is strategically used, it makes open spaces much easier to understand and safer to navigate.

Creative Safety Supply, Oregon’s premier retailer of industrial safety and Lean manufacturing products, has released a new complementary guide to industrial floor marking.

This comprehensive guide provides all the information you need to get the most out of your floor tape, paint, and signs. From creative applications to product recommendations and helpful tips, Creative Safety Supply’s floor marking guide is a handy solution for business owners and facility managers in any industry.

When floor marking is strategically used, it makes open spaces in facilities much easier to understand and safer to navigate. Common applications include alerting employees to hazardous areas, outlining the location of equipment and tools, indicating traffic routes, and incorporating visual communication in the workplace.

There are several options for floor marking products. In this guide, Creative Safety Supply helps you determine the best ones for your situation. A key factor is to consider your facility’s traffic levels—light, medium, heavy, or extreme. From there, you’ll find information on products that have powerful adhesives and long lifespans so the floor marking you put in will last for years.

In many cases, floor tape is a useful and durable alternative to traditional floor paint. Tape provides you with never-ending application options, from customized inline tape with specific messaging to OSHA-compliant tape that warns of areas which present physical or health risks.

OSHA standard 1910.22 requires permanent aisles and passageways to be appropriately marked. By using this floor marking guide, facilities can ensure OSHA compliance.

The guide also makes it easy for businesses to understand and implement a comprehensive visual communications system throughout their whole facility. Floor tape functions as a visual framework for 5S, a manufacturing methodology that maximizes efficiency through the use of specific tools and mindsets.

Creative Safety Supply’s free floor marking guide is just one selection from its considerable list of complementary Lean and safety guides. As an essential resource for a wide variety of workplaces, the floor marking guide is an excellent tool to use in combination with many of the other products Creative Safety Supply has to offer.

About Creative Safety Supply

Creative Safety Supply is an Oregon-based supplier of Lean and safety manufacturing products that help businesses solve their workplace safety and productivity challenges. HashCash Gets Into Precision Healthcare with New DNA Database Collaboration

HashCash Gets into Precision Healthcare

The implementation of an open source, collaborative platform where publishers are in control of the data will accelerate the research and production of precision medicines, while keeping the process transparent.

HashCash Consultants is going to aid a major Pharma company with a Blockchain based platform for DNA sequencing, as part of a genome research initiative for precision drugs.

The collaboration is expected to streamline the process of sharing and recording of DNA data. It will ensure that patients and contributors have more control over their genome records and the way it is used. They are also in talks to introduce a token system for the data contributors for research of precision medicines.

Raj Chowdhury, CEO of HashCash Consultants commented to the media that, “The present structure has created a monopoly of data in a few hands, leading to unethical practices that needs to stop. The implementation of an open source, collaborative platform where publishers are in control of the data will accelerate the research and production of precision medicines, while keeping the process transparent.”

  • Blockchain for Genome Sequencing and Precision Medicine:

Precision drugs, also known as personalized drugs are a contrast to the “one size fits all” approach of traditional medicines. The medicine is produced after studying the genetic makeup of an individual to provide more precise treatment. Genome studies is also the key to advanced diagnosis of diseases like cancer, AIDS, etc.

The whole idea is to provide customized treatment and medication to the patient through extensive research of the genome and that’s why there is the need for a database; however, there are two primary issues with that.

First, the access to bulk load of genomic and other healthcare datasets to gather significant information. Second, the need for that data to be shareable and interoperable across geographic, jurisdictional, technological and professional boundaries.

HashCash aims at addressing both these issues and provide a comprehensive solution through the use of Blockchain technology.

  • HashCash’s Blockchain Approach for a DNA Database:

HashCash has proposed a Blockchain based platform via which the patients, health specialists, governments, researchers and providers of health technology can access the data and coordinate with each other for precision medicines.

The use of private key encryption will keep all data transactions secured creating an ecosystem of trust among the patients and contributors.

Healthcare and wellness providers will be able to access the data for advanced research. However, the private key security provided by HashCash will keep the control of the data in the hands of the contributors.

About HashCash Consultants:

HashCash is a global software company. HashCash Blockchain products enable enterprises to move assets and settle payments across borders in real-time for Remittances, Trade Finance, Payment Processing and more. HashCash runs US-based digital asset exchange, PayBito & digital asset payment processor, BillBitcoins. HashCash propels advancement in technology through Blockchain1o1 programs and its investment arm, Satoshi Angels.
