Study confirms findings of the Transpara™ by ScreenPoint Medical AI mammogram decision support system

Transpara by ScreenPoint Medical evidence based multivendor breast AI, now in use in 15 countries

Independent peer reviewed publications have already shown that Transpara performs as well as a Radiologist(1,2), helps to improve accuracy(1) and has the potential to reduce workload(3)

ScreenPoint Medical’s Scientists who developed the Transpara AI decision support system which helps radiologists to identify potential breast cancers earlier and faster, say a new international study by Google Health and Imperial College, London, supports the findings of radiologists already using the Transpara system in 15 countries, including Hungary, Turkey, the USA and France.

The new study, published in the journal Nature, showed that AI could perform at least as well or better than specialist breast radiologists.

The incidence of breast cancer is increasing worldwide due to environmental, diet and lifestyle changes but increasingly, countries are reporting a shortage of radiologists. In the UK and some other countries, every mammogram is read by two specialist radiologists. However, this is expensive and elsewhere often radiologists work alone. In the US for example, 60% of radiologists reading mammograms are general radiologists.

It is believed that overall up to 25% of breast cancers are missed but the earlier a cancer is discovered and the earlier a patient can be treated, the greater the chance that she will survive the cancer.

“As academics we set out to try and reduce the death toll from breast cancer, to help radiologists work more efficiently and also to reduce the number of women who were being needlessly recalled for often invasive and painful treatments,” said Professor Prof Nico Karssemeijer CEO and co-founder of ScreenPoint Medical, the company that produces the Transpara system.

Transpara, which is compatible with the major manufacturer’s mammography and PACS systems, is trained on over 1 million images from over 10 countries and 20 respected institutions. “Apart from published research, we have real time evidence, clinical experience of radiologists across Europe and elsewhere, that Transpara is improving their effectiveness. From the studies, using Transpara concurrently is shown to improve the performance of radiologists irrespective of their experience. The system’s unique Exam Score means women at higher risk of breast cancer can be immediately prioritised for recall and those with a low score can have their minds put at rest much faster. Independent peer reviewed publications have already shown that Transpara performs as well as a Radiologist(1,2), helps to improve accuracy(1) and has the potential to reduce workload(3).”

Professor Sir Michael Brady from Oxford, and also co-founder of ScreenPoint, said all women should be able to access the same high levels of care. “Transpara can remove the chance of a ‘postcode lottery’ where standards of care vary widely.”

In the UK, Transpara is being assessed in several locations but radiologists in Europe, who have been using the system for some time, say Transpara has brought major benefits to their breast care practices.

“If Transpara marks something that is visible, I can check it immediately with ultrasound to become more certain about the need for biopsy. As a decision support tool, Transpara increases your confidence and saves time too, enabling our patients to learn the results of their scans faster than before,” says Professor Levent Celik, Principal of Radiologica in Istanbul who uses Transpara in daily practice.

Dr Hajer Jerraya, Associate Radiologist at the Artois Radiologie in Arras, France says, “I can no longer work without Transpara. The tool is very good at detection and increases my diagnostic confidence.”

The final word from ScreenPoint co-founder Professor Sir Michael Brady in Oxford: “Women everywhere should have the same quality of care – the best that’s available. We are a company dedicated to addressing the needs of women regarding breast care and we are going to continue to work to help reduce the terrible toll from breast cancer!”

Five New Finalists in U.S. IsaBody Challenge Will Compete for $25,000

News Image

Tens of thousands participate in the IsaBody Challenge each year, and we’re thrilled to congratulate these five individuals for the healthy changes they’ve achieved by pairing dedication with our incomparable nutrition solutions. – Travis Ogden, Isagenix CEO

Isagenix International, a global health and wellness company providing nutrition and lifestyle solutions, has announced the final round of U.S. finalists for its annual total-body transformation program, the IsaBody Challenge®. This Judging Period’s five finalists are Andrew Bischoff of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Ashley Pederson of St. Paul, Minnesota; Kim Nase of Lynnwood, Washington; Tim Brown of Midlothian, Texas; and Tony Labriola of Southbury, Connecticut.

These individuals were selected out of the thousands of people across the United States who completed the IsaBody Challenge during the most recent contest Judging Period. All 15 finalists selected this year will compete for a chance to win the grand prize of $25,000 or the runner-up prize of $10,000. They will also receive a $3,000 prize, an all-expenses-paid trip to the IsaBody® Escape for themselves and a guest, and other prizes to recognize their achievements.

Each finalist will be introduced onstage at the New Year Kick Off 2020 event in January in Phoenix, Arizona, in front of thousands of attendees. The grand prize winner and runner-up will also be announced Jan. 25 at this inspiring event. The IsaBody Challenge and New Year Kick Off are both hosted by Isagenix.

“Tens of thousands participate in the IsaBody Challenge each year, and we’re thrilled to congratulate these five individuals for the healthy changes they’ve achieved by pairing dedication with our incomparable nutrition solutions,” said Travis Ogden, chief executive officer of Isagenix. “They’re an inspiration to everyone here at Isagenix as well as to their communities and — most importantly — their families and loved ones.”

Meet the Finalists

Andrew Bischoff, Minnetonka, Minnesota

Age: 38

Total Challenges Completed: 7

Total Weight Gain Over Completed Challenges: 2 pounds of lean muscle*

After seven Challenges, you would think the IsaBody journey might seem routine for Andrew, but each Challenge is unique. This time, he focused on his gains at the gym rather than his physical appearance. Andrew wanted to show his children what a healthy lifestyle looks like by living it, and he did just that. For the first time, he feels comfortable in his own skin. Andrew is living his life authentically, and he believes in himself more every day.

Ashley Pederson, St. Paul, Minnesota

Age: 35

Total Challenges Completed: 1

Total Weight Loss Over Completed Challenges: 60 pounds*

At the start of her first IsaBody Challenge, Ashley was relying on extra strength energy drinks to get through the day but still struggled to find enough energy to take her children to the park. She was also struggling emotionally. During the 16-week Challenge, she dedicated herself to the Isagenix products and program. Ashley now has enough energy to play with her kids, has cut out toxic habits, and has her confidence back. She is excited for her next IsaBody Challenge.

Kim Nase, Lynnwood, Washington

Age: 33

Total Challenges Completed: 6

Total Weight Loss Over Completed Challenges: 36 pounds*

Kim chose freedom by participating in the IsaBody Challenge. Knowing that where you are now can be a lifetime or just a season, she set out to take control of her life. At first, she was skeptical about whether the Challenge was the right fit for her, but she moved forward to set a pattern for a better future. During the competition, Kim benefited not only from incorporating the AMPED™ Next-Level Pack into her regimen but also from the friendships and bonds she formed with other IsaBody participants. She has found her voice during this journey and is using it to help others.

Tim Brown, Midlothian, Texas

Age: 44

Total Challenges Completed: 3

Total Weight Loss Over Completed Challenges: 41 pounds*

Tim experienced life-changing results after he said yes to Isagenix. His first goal was to lose weight. He then transitioned to building muscle and is now focused on maintaining his results while working on smaller goals. Tim’s routine includes using IsaPro® and AMPED products to make sure his body is getting the right nutrients. He is enjoying not only his success but also sharing his experience with Isagenix, especially since he was skeptical in the beginning. Tim is entering his fourth Challenge and is looking forward to what he accomplishes next year.

Tony Labriola, Southbury, Connecticut

Age: 50

Total Challenges Completed: 5

Total Weight Loss Over Completed Challenges: 40 pounds*

Tony found himself weighing around 300 pounds at 35 years old after becoming a single father. He was also in the throes of working more than 60 hours a week and taking last-minute business trips. Overwhelmed, he covered up his anxiety and fears for a while with his big personality, but there came a point when he needed to make a change. He now feels like a new man and has even formed a health and wellness coaching group with his wife, Jen, so they can help others transform their lives with Isagenix.

*Weight loss, muscle gain, lifestyle, and other results depicted here reflect exceptional individual experiences of Isagenix customers and should not be construed as typical or average. Results vary with individual effort, body composition, eating patterns, time, exercise, and other factors, such as genetic and physiological makeup. A two-phase 2016 study published by researchers at Skidmore College showed an average weight loss of 24 pounds after 12 weeks. The study evaluated the use of Isagenix products in men and women for weight loss followed by weight maintenance. During the weight maintenance phase, the subjects who continued the calorie-controlled program using Isagenix products better maintained their weight loss in comparison to those who transitioned to a traditional diet after 52 weeks.

Improve Sagging Jowls Using M.J. Lift

Introducing the M.j. Lift treatment for improving sagging jowls and creating a defined, youthful jawline at MilfordMD.

Cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richard E. Buckley creates exclusive M.J. Lift treatment to address sagging jowls which results in a defined, youthful jawline and restored facial volume.

The MilfordMD Jowl & Jawline Lift, or M.J. Lift for short, is an innovative treatment that addresses skin laxity two-fold. It improves sagging jowls, tightens the jawline and boosts collagen and elastin production resulting in a more youthful appearance that builds confidence and promotes happiness.

Now that relaxers (i.e. Botox and Dysport) and fillers (i.e. Restylane and Radiesse) have made middle-aged facial wrinkles more a thing of the past, it’s jowls we’re desperate to be “rid” of and jawlines we’re desperate to chisel into perfection. In a recent People Exclusive, the Kardashian-Jenner’s go-to dermatologist even revealed that one of the most popular cosmetic procedures with celebrities right now is jawline contouring. To address the growing request for improving sagging jowls and tightening the jawline, cosmetic surgeon Dr. Richard E. Buckley of MilfordMD Cosmetic Dermatology Surgery & Laser Center created an exclusive new treatment for his practice to address both of those demands.

“The MilfordMD Jowl and Jawline Lift, or M.J. Lift for short, is an innovative treatment that addresses skin laxity two-fold. It improves sagging jowls, tightens the jawline and boosts collagen and elastin production resulting in a more youthful appearance that builds confidence and promotes happiness,” states Dr. Buckley.

One of the earliest signs of aging isn’t only the forehead lines or other facial lines that many of us commonly associate with aging, it’s also the hollowing under the eyes and decrease in cheek fullness, both of which contribute to a sliding downward of the skin. It’s this aging process with decreased facial fullness and volume that creates the appearance of deepening nasolabial folds, marionette lines descending below the corners of the mouth and sagging jowls. The M.J. Lift uses a combination of treatments to lift and tighten the sagging skin while boosting collagen and elastin production to restore volume to the face resulting in a facial structure similar to that of the patient’s youth.

“Using micro-liposuction, we can extract the excess jowl fat drooping over the jawline and then process that fat into micro or nano-fat. We then perform an autologous fat transfer (AFT), grafting the fat into the depressed areas in front of and behind the jowls thus helping to straighten the jawline,” states Dr. Buckley. “Additionally, if there is enough fat, creases on the face, such as smile lines and marionette lines, can be treated. Next, we use ThermiTight radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin. And to promote additional new collagen formation we use mediators of normal body healing such as PRP (platelet rich plasma) and FRP (fibrin rich plasma). I have found that this precise combination of treatments results in the best outcomes for my patients looking improve their sagging jowls and create a more defined jawline and youthful look.”

For patients who need further fine sculpting or who have very little of their own fat to work with, Dr. Buckley offers the M.J. Lift Plus which includes the use of facial fillers, such as Radiesse and Restylane, to complete the rejuvenation process. Using Restylane and Radiesse, Dr. Buckley plumps out deep grooves, wrinkles, and hollows thus restoring youthful contours and accentuating the red of the lips. If the patient has an adequate source of fat, either from the jowls or elsewhere, it’s great to include the patient’s fat to help create the added volume in the face.

“For both the M.J. Lift and M.J. Lift Plus we like to incorporate the natural healing properties of PRP to get optimal results for our patients,” says Dr. Buckley. “If one has a cut or a scrape, the stickiness you feel is your platelets beginning the repair process. Placing PRP in the areas being treated and, by definition, where there is inflammation makes good sense and many scientific studies support the validity of its use.” According to the article Platelet rich plasma in dermatology and aesthetic medicine, when PRP is injected into a damaged area, it stimulates the tissue, causing mild inflammation that triggers the healing cascade. As a result, new collagen begins to develop. As this collagen matures, it begins to shrink and tightens and strengthens the skin. Improvement in skin texture and tone is noticeable within 3 weeks, with full collagen regeneration in about 3 months.

The M.J Lift takes about 60 minutes and has no downtime other than some possible bruising which patients should factor in when scheduling the treatment. According to Dr. Buckley, patients who are in good health and have minimal skin laxity and sun damage are the ideal candidates for this exclusive treatment. For patients with significantly sagged skin, to accomplish the significant uplifting of the sagging jowls and jawline, a surgical face and neck lift may be the best option. Patients needing a surgical face and neck lift will almost always benefit from strategic structural volumization with fillers.

Most of the benefits of the M.J. Lift can last many years. For patients who get the M.J. Plus treatment, the Restylane and Radiesse facial filler results may last from one to many years. Patients should consider coming in about once a year to replenish the fillers. “It’s important to note that even though this treatment has long-lasting results, aging continues. The good news is that as aging continues one can take additional corrective action and we offer a regular schedule of continued improvement”, says Dr. Buckley.

The companies will jointly unveil their work at the StartUp Health conference in San Francisco on January 13-14, 2020.

The new product, once completed, would allow healthcare organizations and surgeons to assess predicted cost of procedures, and the probability and financial impact of a recall on selected devices, pre-operatively.

Naturopathic Doctor, Erin Stokes, Shares Tips on Maintaining a Healthy Immune System

When shopping for your supplements, remember that they are not all created equal. Look for brands, like MegaFood, who are focused on crafting quality supplements made with nutrients added to real food they believe your body can recognize.

While it’s known as the most wonderful time of year, the holidays and winter season can be overwhelming and have most of us feeling as if there are not enough hours in the day. High stress levels, busy travel schedules, overindulging on sugary treats, and lack of sleep can all impact our immune health. Recently, Erin Stokes, Naturopathic Doctor and Medical Director at MegaFood®, teamed with YourUpdateTV to discuss proactive steps to feeling your best this winter season.

A video accompanying this announcement is available at: LINK TO VIDEO

Here are several tips to ensure you’re giving your immune system a fighting chance this season:

1. Getting enough restorative sleep is vital but often overlooked. Aim for at least 7-8 hours every night to support both immune health and whole-body health.*

2. In addition to being incredibly important for our physical health, exercise plays a big role in our mental health as it releases feel-good hormones that help to mitigate stress.* Weather permitting, try to get outside on nicer days – even a short walk during lunch counts!

3. Eating a wide variety (and colors) of fruits and vegetables feeds our bodies with antioxidants. Think foods like kale, blueberries, apples, tomatoes and citrus fruits. Also try incorporating more probiotic-rich foods like miso and sauerkraut or a probiotic supplement that can help your immune and digestive system,* like MegaFood Immune Defense* Shelf Stable Probiotic.

4. Try immune-supporting supplements when you feel the need. Certain vitamins and minerals can help nourish your body and support your immune health*

To keep you thriving through the long winter season, MegaFood Immune Defense* includes a team of immune-supporting ingredients* – elderberry, vitamin C, zinc and bitter herbs echinacea and andrographis.

Our sun exposure decreases this time of year which can affect your levels of vitamin D3 – the sunshine vitamin. Vitamin D3 is crucial for supporting immune health and nearly 90 million Americans are either deficient or have insufficient levels. MegaFood D3 Wellness Mixed Fruit Gummies, are a convenient and delicious way to maintain sufficient vitamin D3 levels and support your immune system*, are non-GMO and only 1 gram of sugar per serving.

When shopping for your supplements, remember that they are not all created equal. Look for brands, like MegaFood, who are focused on crafting quality supplements made with nutrients added to real food they believe your body can recognize.
