March 17-20, 2020 • Philadelphia, PA

https://www.fdanews.com/eumdrworkshops

Accept our invitation for one, two, three or four productive days of hands-on training.

The EU-MDR compliance clock is ticking. Legacy products marketed in the EU are at serious risk unless one acts now. Many devicemakers still aren’t ready for May 2020 set date. The transition is one complicated set of rules!

Training kicks off with an introductory 2-day workshop Understanding and Implementing the EU-Medical Device Regulation/In Vitro Diagnostics Regulation on March 17-18. Master the conversion and implement the new MDR including:

  • The new MDR classification system (how to apply the system)
  • Conformity assessment paths (how paths apply to specific devices)
  • Annex I requirements (how to document compliance)
  • Technical documentation requirements
  • Unique Device Identification (EU approach)
  • Notified Body (its role)

Stay an extra day, March 19, to continue training with Post-Market Activities in the EU-MDR — A Detailed Analysis. Untangle one of the most complicated aspects of the new EU-MDR:

  • Which devices (by class and other attributes) require any specific activity
  • How to develop a plan and report for each activity
  • Understanding frequency and distribution of each report
  • Adverse events classification and reporting

Need help with EU-MDR auditing? Extend to March 20 with Implementing Effective EU-MDR/IVDR Internal Audit Programs. Get the information needed to integrate a Notified Body (NB) EU-MDR/IVDR type audit into internal quality programs:

  • Conformity assessment paths in the EU-MDR/IVDR based on device class
  • Initial NB auditing requirements in each conformity assessment annex
  • Surveillance NB auditing requirements
  • NB QMS requirements for Annex VII
  • Specific Annex VII areas in the initial audit
  • NB auditor qualifications from Annex VII
  • Mapping the NB audit approach to the medical device auditing program

Space is limited. First come – first served. There’s no time to waste between now and May 2020.

Radon Environmental’s Bark Side Will Make Schools Aware

New issue.

Direct Link: https://joom.ag/MIEe

“Approximately 80% of the schools have not been tested for radon. 70,000 school rooms have high radon levels.” … EPA

Citizens for Radioactive Radon Reduction (CR3), a radon reduction advocacy 501c3 nonprofit organization serving the radon and lung cancer community, today announced the initiation of a focus on Radon Environmental’s “Bark Side of Radon” endeavor by tying it to their “Teachers for Radon Reduction” campaign to test all schools in the U.S. for radon gas. This program will introduce a new stimulus and encouragement to testing for radioactive radon gas exposure in residences and promote mitigation to reduce elevated levels of this carcinogen. Through this effort, CR3 will awaken pet owners and veterinarians to an influencer that will advance pet and human health.

According to a 2015 Harris poll, more than three in five Americans (62%) have at least one pet in their household, with ownership highest among the two youngest generations tested (65% among Millennials, 71% among Gen X).

With radon being the second leading cause of lung cancer and number one among non-smokers, radon awareness is increasing strong initiatives by organizations fighting to improve lung cancer survival, health and indoor air quality which are critical for success. CR3’s advocacy channel has increased over the past 24 months. Members are joining because of their own experiences with cancer and radon and are eager to share their experiences and knowledge about the danger of radioactive radon gas exposure as they advocate for legislation and increased testing in areas where children are spending most of their time.

“While we will continue to advocate for homeowners and landlords to test their properties for radon gas, getting entire communities involved to insure the safe and healthy environment for children in schools and day care facilities is a must,” says Gloria Linnertz, Director of CR3. “By providing information to the schools and veterinarians, we hope to encourage children to inspire their parents to test their homes.”

“There is a high frequency of radon campaigns being deployed for January’s National Radon Action Month; however, the influence still remains somewhat low,” stated Jackie Nixon, Director of Marketing for CR3. “We are thrilled to be chosen to implement such a positive and powerful initiative with Radon Environmental to bring such an important message to people and maybe save some lives.”

Healthcare providers and patients want and will use Voice First technology in 2020 and beyond, says the new report just published by industry analyst, Laurie Orlov

News Image

Says Health Economist Jane Sarasohn-Kahn, “Laurie Orlov woved together the latest insights from among leading experts in voice technology and healthcare to find voice tech already taking hold in hospitals, doctors’ practices, pharmacies, and our homes.”

The Voice First technology market has expected to reach $49 billion worldwide. Device makers and software firms are fighting for leadership in both devices and voice assistant software. As discussed in the new Voice, Health and Wellbeing 2020 research report, during the past few years, multiple health-related voice assistants have been introduced, including those branded by trusted organizations’ services, adding to those from Mayo Clinic and Boston Children’s Hospital. By 2019, it was becoming easier to ask about specific drugs online. Also by 2019, medical transcription offerings snowballed – potentially replacing the role of 17,000 scribes. In addition, organizations are beginning to voice-enable hospital rooms, physician charting, and wellness tracking for consumers.

Although work is being explored in using the voice as a health diagnostic tool, most uses today are rudimentary and/or experimental. But the future is exciting. With the beginning of HIPAA-compliance, diagnostic capabilities based on voice, and increased personalization capability, Voice First technology promises to provide greater assistance to health professionals and a better experience for consumers at home. 2020 will see more entrants into this early segment, refining what works and adds value.

NJ Top Dentist, Dr. Irvin B. Sherman Offers Help For Mothers Having Trouble Breastfeeding

Dr. Irvin B. Sherman

Dr. Irvin B. Sherman

NJ Top Dentist, Dr. Irvin B. Sherman has been reviewed and approved for 2019. His practice, Shore Children’s Dental Care, specializes in treatment for infants, children, teens and the special needs patient. The practice is located in Avon and Manasquan, New Jersey is announcing a new center for infant nursing and oral health.

Dr. Sherman and his practice will be addressing issues that mothers are having with nursing (breastfeeding) at the new center.

Many mothers with newborn babies have difficulty with breastfeeding that may be related to what is called “the frenums.” The frenum is the attachment under the tongue and top lip that sometimes are either short or prohibiting normal movement. It is more commonly called tongue-tie and lip-tie.

Dr. Sherman performs a procedure referred to as a frenectomy using a diode laser. In many cases this procedure releases the frenum and allows the tongue and lip to give the baby a better latch on the mother’s breast, resulting in improving or eliminating troublesome problems. These problems include the mother having pain, mastitis, premature reduction of breast milk supply, depression and lack of infant-mother connection. The infant’s issues can be an ineffective latch, unsatisfied nursing episodes, poor weight gain, clicking and swallowing air when latched (aerophagia).

Dr. Sherman has been performing these procedures for over 30 years. He receives many referrals from Pediatricians and Lactation Consultants. If you have any questions related to breastfeeding and nursing issues, please do not hesitate to call Dr. Sherman’s office and ask for Sarah. Appointments are available on short notice and the practice participates with most insurance companies including NJ Family Care.

The show explores a vast range of topics to educate its viewers about many issues taking place in the world today. An upcoming episode will delve into the medical field. The segment will discuss the importance of preventing skin cancer.

In the U.S., skin cancer is the most common type of cancer. Approximately 9,500 people are diagnosed with skin cancer every day. Medical researchers estimate nonmelanoma skin cancer, which includes squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma, affects over 3 million Americans annually.

The sun plays a vital role in the health of living things, and avoiding too much exposure is a difficult task. Skin cancer is dangerous and can be deadly. Industry professionals are seeking out more ways to prevent people from getting the disease, as well as ways to treat it. In the new episode coming to “Behind The Scenes” medical experts will further discuss the methods of prevention and the treatments available.
