SHOP.COM’s Partnership With Barrington Nutritionals Proves Valuable To Successful Launch of Thymenol™, Its Exclusive Breakthrough Health Supplement

SHOP.COM’s Partnership With Barrington Nutritionals Proves Crucial To Successful Launch of Thymenol™, Its Exclusive Breakthrough Health Supplement

“We are thrilled to come together with TriNutra and SHOP.COM to develop this top-selling product,” said Chris Holland, VP of Sales at Barrington Nutritionals.

SHOP.COM, Market America’s award-winning and primary global e-commerce website, is pleased with the immediate sales success following the fall launch of Thymenol™. Only available through SHOP.COM, Thymenol is a first for the health supplement industry because of its patent pending, exclusive combination of ThymoQuin™* and Pycnogenol®** — this is the only product of its kind. This synergistic combination supports cognitive health, cardiovascular health and immune health. SHOP.COM says its partnership with ingredient distributor, Barrington Nutritionals and TriNutra Ltd., a well-renowned supplier of high quality, science-based ingredients, including ThymoQuin, has played a major role in Thymenol’s initial success.±

“Thanks to our partners at Barrington Nutritionals and TriNutra, we have been able to take the incredibly powerful ingredient, ThymoQuin, a cold-pressed black seed oil standardized to 3% thymoquinone, and combine it with pine bark extract, Pycnogenol,” said Marc Ashley, President & COO of Market America Worldwide. “Thymenol exists today because of the trusted partnership we have with Barrington Nutritionals and their ability to supply ThymoQuin of the highest quality and efficacy.”

An extract of black cumin seed, ThymoQuin provides valuable antioxidant activity, aiding in cardiovascular health and healthy inflammatory response.± Black cumin has been used worldwide for centuries and multiple scientific sources have confirmed that black cumin seed oil offers beneficial effects on well-being†. Through Barrington Nutritionals and TriNutra, the manufacturer of ThymoQuin, the proprietary variety of black cumin seed in ThymoQuin is the first and only to be acquired by the cold-pressed method. Because this method does not use heat, the constituents of the oil are not altered and degraded. Black cumin seed oil is also solvent-free, preserving the effectiveness of its active ingredients.

“We are thrilled to come together with TriNutra and SHOP.COM to develop this top-selling product,” said Chris Holland, VP of Sales at Barrington Nutritionals. “ThymoQuin has proven to be a significant ingredient on its own, but when combined with Pycnogenol, it offers synergistic benefits allowing the consumer to take full advantage of the effect of the ingredients.”

More Millennials are Turning to Cosmetic Procedures than Ever Before, says Beverly Hills Physicians

Injectable-based procedures are grabbing the attention of younger patients.

Why are so many millennials turning to age-defying treatments? It must be the reliably positive outcomes.

A December 12 article from Huffington Post states that more people between the ages of 18 and 34 are turning to fillers and injections. While using cosmetic procedures to diminish the signs of aging was once primarily associated with people in their middle years and older, more millennials are now turning to cosmetic surgery significantly earlier in life than before, according to Beverly Hills Physicians. The Southern California-based health and beauty medical group says that its team has noticed a definite upward trend in the number of younger patients visiting their offices. But why are so many millennials turning to age-defying treatments? It must be the reliably positive outcomes, says the medical group.

Beverly Hills Physicians has stated that clients who have used treatments such as Botox in their twenties and thirties have a better chance of diminishing the early signs of aging than those who wait until later in life to start treatment. The medical group adds that it offers a broad range of injectables, including facial fillers that can have dramatic impacts in terms of facial appearance. However, it is true that Botox is perhaps the most popular option even though many people are not fully aware of how it works. This injection is made up of a purified botulinum protein extracted from bacteria, says Beverly Hills Physicians. Once it is injected into the skin, it causes the muscles to remain immobile. That prohibits movement and the formation of expression lines, which helps to prevent those fine lines and wrinkles from forming.

The important thing to be aware of, notes the medical group, is that not all providers are the same and people who perform injections at certain providers may not always have a suitable medical background. Working with plastic surgeons helps to ensure that procedures are performed with maximum safety and are as effective as possible. That’s why, the group says, it’s extremely important for prospective patients to conduct research and find a skilled and reputable provider. Also, patients who are looking for more permanent outcomes often find that a combination of injectables with facelifts and other procedures can have an exceptionally powerful impact when performed by a highly experienced and skilled plastic surgeon, says Beverly Hills Physicians.

Readers who are interested in finding out more about Botox or other cosmetic procedures can contact Beverly Hills Physicians for more details regarding a very wide range of services that help patients look and feel their very best. Visit the Beverly Hills Physicians website at https://www.beverlyhillsphysicians.com/. The medical group can also be reached at 1-800-788-1416.

Weight Loss Surgery Study Showing Reduced Complications during Second Pregnancies Highlights Hidden Benefits for Many Patients, says West Medical

Gastric balloons are one of a number of newer, nonsurgical bariatric procedures that are helping patients around the world.

No matter what weight loss surgery or procedure patients choose, [bariatric patients] are committing to a healthier lifestyle.

A December 6 article on Reuters reports on a new study that found a correlation between weight loss surgery and fewer complications including high blood pressure and premature birth before or during second pregnancies. The study specifically found that women who had bariatric surgery between their first and their second pregnancies were less likely to suffer adverse pregnancy outcomes the second time around. Weight loss clinic West Medical of Southern California says that the findings add to a huge and rapidly growing mountain of data supporting the health benefits of weight loss surgery.

West Medical says that there are several different forms of weight loss surgery, each with their own set of pros and cons. The clinic notes that viable options for patients looking to lose large amounts of weight include gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, endoscopic gastroplasty, and more. West Medical adds that the older surgical procedures have certain qualifiers to be met as outlined by the medical community: patients must meet the medical definition of severe obesity which involves having a high BMI (body mass index). The criteria also take weight-related health issues such as high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes into account. The clinic does note that patients who do not quite meet those requirements or who would prefer to avoid surgery are not out of options. Specifically, gastric balloon and gastroplasty are all viable nonsurgical options that have less stringent requirements.

The weight loss medical group notes that, no matter what weight loss surgery or procedure patients choose, they are committing to a healthier lifestyle that allows for more energy, decreased pain, enhanced self-esteem, and many other benefits. The clinic says that its patients who undergo successful weight loss treatments consistently find that their obesity-related ailments tend to disappear after losing significant amounts of weight.

West Medical says that obese individuals who are concerned about the cost of weight loss surgery or procedures should know that insurance may cover some or all of the relevant costs in many instances. Moreover, complications from obesity are exceedingly common and those who do not find a way to lose weight may eventually find themselves paying a very high price regardless, the clinic adds, saying that a proactive stance towards weight loss can turn out to be a very wise investment in a healthier and happier life.

Vuja De Sciences Announces the Appointment of Two New Board Members

“Targeting metastatic progression has been my passion for over 20 years and the team at Vuja De stands poised to rapidly translate new findings from its metastasis drug screens to effective drugs for the primary unmet need for cancer patients”, said Dr. Khanna.

Vuja De Sciences (“Vuja De”), a biotechnology startup dedicated to developing cancer metastasis treatments that prevent cancer progression and recurrence, today announced the appointments of Chand Khanna, DVM, PhD, DACVIM (Onc), and Dr. Lee Helman, MD, to its Board of Directors. Rick Lampe, Co-founder and CEO of Vuja De said, “We are delighted to welcome Chand and Lee as new directors. They will be of great help in advancing our unique approach to the discovery and development of metastatic progression targeting cancer treatments in osteosarcoma and other cancers.” Dr. David Warshawsky, Vuja De’s Founder and Chairman of the Board added: “I am confident that their leadership will have a highly meaningful impact on Vuja De’s ability to translate our core anti-metastasis drug discovery platform to ground-breaking therapies against cancer progression and to our success in building a strong and leading company in the fight against cancer.”

Vuja De has been collaborating with Dr. Chand Khanna, Chief Science Officer of Ethos Veterinary Health and President of Ethos Discovery. Through this interaction VuJa De and Ethos have an innovative collaborative plan and path for metastasis-focused drug development that includes clinical trials in pet dogs with cancer (i.e. comparative oncology). “I am delighted to join the leadership at Vuja De. Targeting metastatic progression has been my passion for over 20 years and the team at Vuja De stands poised to rapidly translate new findings from its metastasis drug screens to effective drugs for the primary unmet need for cancer patients,” said Dr. Khanna.

Dr. Lee Helman stated: “I am delighted to join the Vuja De board and to work with the team to do whatever is needed to help bring treatments that prevent cancer progression and recurrence to patients with osteosarcoma and other cancers.”

“Ethos Veterinary Health is excited and highly supportive of the planned collaboration with Vuja De, beginning with Dr. Khanna joining the leadership team and soon leading to comparative oncology clinical trials that will develop effective treatments for both human and canine cancer patients,” said Ames Prentiss, CEO of Ethos Veterinary Health.

Dr. Chand Khanna

Dr. Khanna was the longtime Head of the NCI Pediatric Oncology Branch’s Tumor and Metastasis Biology Section, and the Founding Director of the Center for Cancer Research, Comparative Oncology Program. His research interests and responsibilities focused on the problem of cancer metastasis and the discovery of new options to treat patients with metastasis. Dr. Khanna has over 100 publications in the area of cancer biology and therapy. He is currently the Chief Science Officer of Ethos Veterinary Health and President of the non-profit incubator of scientific innovation, Ethos Discovery (501c.3.). In these roles Dr. Khanna seeks to improve outcomes for human and pet patients with complex medical problems through the development of novel therapeutics and diagnostics.

Dr. Lee Helman

Dr. Helman is Section Head of Basic and Translational Research within the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases and Director of the Cancer and Blood Diseases Research Program of the Saban Research Institute of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He is also Professor of Pediatrics in the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Dr. Helman has been studying the biology and caring for pediatric patients with sarcomas for over thirty years. He has also trained many investigators in the field of pediatric sarcomas. One current area of active research at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles focuses on using full genomic classification of osteosarcoma tumors to improve therapy, as well as testing novel therapeutic drugs and drug combinations in patients with osteosarcoma. Dr. Helman received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine magna cum laude in 1980 and was elected to Alpha Omega Alpha. He has served as scientific director for clinical research in the Center for Cancer Research at the NIH until 2016. He was elected to the American Society for Clinical Investigation and the American Association of Physicians and is a founding member and past president of the Connective Tissue Oncology Society. He is a past member of the Board of Governors of the Clinical Center at NIH. In addition to his many appointments with different organization, he has been appointed director of the Osteosarcoma Institute.

About Comparative Oncology

In the setting of cancer drug development, comparative oncology involves the inclusion of dogs with naturally occurring cancer in clinical trials, where novel or repurposed drugs are tested to answer questions that cannot be answered in conventional animal models of cancer or human clinical trials.

About Osteosarcoma

Osteosarcoma is an aggressive cancer of the bone in dogs and human patients and is the most common type of bone cancer in children and teens. Despite successful control of the primary tumor and follow-up chemotherapy, metastasis continues to be the most common cause of mortality for both species. The last 30 years have brought little improvement in survival outcomes for children with osteosarcoma, despite intensification of therapy. Due to lack of improved outcomes, new approaches to therapy are highly needed. Furthermore, if targeted therapeutics are found to prevent metastasis in this human cancer, a strong biological rationale would exist for the evaluation of such a therapy in other human cancers.

German Pharma Company Boehringer Ingelheim licenses AI/NLP Platform from Kairntech

The Pharma sector is a very knowledge-intensive business – automatic support for the analysis of document content by appropriate AI is dearly needed.

“Powerful AI and NLP (natural language processing) software is vital to accomplish knowledge discovery in an efficient and fast manner for our scientists.” Dr. Karlheinz Spenny, Boehringer Ingelheim

The German pharma company Boehringer-Ingelheim (BI) and AI software startup Kairntech from Grenoble in France have announced their cooperation on tasks around the analysis of text-based information. The foundation of the cooperation is the licensing of Kairntech’s software platform Sherpa by Boehringer-Ingelheim.

“Drug Discovery is a knowledge–driven business,” explains Dr. Karlheinz Spenny, Head of the Scientific Information Center at Boehringer´s R&D site in Germany. “Much of what we know today resides as unstructured text in scientific publications, patents, conference abstracts or on websites. Making sense of (hidden) relations e.g. between genes and cellular targets. Such knowledge is crucial for discovery research scientists. Powerful AI and NLP (natural language processing) software is vital to accomplish knowledge discovery in an efficient and fast manner for our scientists.”

Boehringer has therefore decided to license the Kairntech AI platform Sherpa. Kairntech and BI have assessed the performance of the software on a number of tasks such as document categorization and the recognition of domain specific entities in explorative projects with Boehringer-specific requirements. A key aspect of the platform is the fact that while powerful machine learning methods are implemented under the hood, the handling of the platform is kept simple and intuitive such that domain experts can train and tune new document processing models without having to engage in complex rule writing or programming.

“We are living in exciting times in the area of NLP and AI,” says Stefan Geißler, Cofounder at Kairntech. “The field is progressing with relentless speed and use cases that would have required extensive manual efforts until recently, today can be addressed with appropriate methods such as Deep Learning and others.”

Details of the deal have not been disclosed.

About Boehringer Ingelheim

Boehringer Ingelheim with its three business areas human pharmaceuticals, animal health and biopharmaceuticals is one of the top 20 innovative Pharma companies worldwide and family-owned since 1885. Some 50,000 employees create value on diseases for which no satisfactory treatment option exists to date. The company concentrates on developing innovative therapies that can extend patients’ lives. NEW Environmental-Facing Skin Care Line is a Game Changer

Amethyst Skincare

Amethyst Skincare makes its debut today as the FIRST skin care line created for the sole purpose of protecting the skin from the declining environment. The brand launches with three essential products: Daily Nutrition Facial Oil, Nightly AOX Micro Peel and Daily Airborne Pollution and Smog Neutralizer. The brainchild of beauty veteran, Nicole Simpson, Amethyst was formulated to nourish and protect the skin from environmental stressors such as pollution, UV exposure, ground-level ozone, and stress.

Just like the Amethyst stone is known for its healing properties, Amethyst Beauty uses potent ingredients and an innovative delivery system to heal the skin by restoring the skin barrier while also arming it with the basic needs to neutralize all the environment’s free radicals. The paraben, gluten and cruelty-free products designed to act as a supplement to everyday skincare, includes:

  •     Daily Nutrition Facial Oil ($75): Formulated with a proprietary blend of jasmine, neroli, and marula oils helps manage skin discoloration and protect against pollution-related aging, hormonal aging, and environmental stress. Infused with vitamin E to protect the skin against pollution, ground-level ozone and UV, as well as Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids.
  •     Daily Airborne Pollution and Smog Neutralizer ($34): This nutrient-dense hydrating protective spray combines vitamin C and niacinamide with vitamins B5, E, A, and a proprietary pollution-neutralizing botanical complex of super antioxidants. They work synergistically to neutralize the free radicals created from the many different types of pollutants we encounter on our skin each day – including ground-level ozone, superoxide, nitrous-oxide and others.
  •     Nightly AOX Micro peel ($85): This unprecedented combination of glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and retinol in one formula boosts cell turnover and collagen production while r-lipoic acid re-energizes cells from the inside out. Discolorations are lightened, wrinkles are smoothed, radiance is boosted, and free radicals removed from lack of sleep and environmental exposure. It also helps prepare skin for enhanced penetration of other skincare products and active ingredients.

Amethyst is committed to being environmentally conscious in its formulation, packaging and production. To reduce stress on environmental resources most of the products are in glass containers and are created with reduced water use. While more than 85 percent of beauty products are not recyclable, Amethyst products are 100 percent recyclable and the brand will provide customers with the opportunity to mail back empty bottles to ensure they are properly disposed.

“The beauty industry is a big contributor to that [pollution] – sourcing to countries like China & India because of the cost,” says Amethyst creator, Nicole Simpson. “We need someone to lead the charge and get real with consumers.”

In addition to the brand’s recycling program Amethyst is committed to donating 5 percent of every purchase to 4ocean – an amazing non-profit that works hard every day to remove plastic from our oceans.

Amethyst Skincare is available at SkinByAmethyst.com.
