The co-marketing allows client team members to be screened via both Athena’s Elevated Temperature Detection System and Axiom Medical’s CheckIn2Work app, which provides a series of screening questions. When an individual is flagged as experiencing symptoms or having an exposure to an infectious disease, or a fever, Axiom Medical provides consulting via its market-leading Rapid Response Contagious Respiratory Illness Assessment (CRIA) Clearance Center. Medical professionals are able to conduct secondary screening to eliminate false positives, and for confirmed cases, manage any subsequent absences from work and safe return to the workplace.

Athena’s Elevated Temperature Detection System measures for elevated temperature with the use of a thermal camera. Fever is a symptom of SARS, Ebola, Coronavirus/COVID-19, and many other diseases. This system is not a diagnosis tool. A medical-grade thermometer and healthcare specialist should be consulted for medical diagnosis. The system only detects elevated temperatures that may indicate a fever and does not diagnose any virus or disease.

The CheckIn2Work app is available on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as web portal. It identifies the face of the subject, ignores heat spots like overhead lights or hot objects on the person, such as a cell phone or hot coffee. The person looks at the camera, and the system finds the hottest point on the face near the eyes, the inner canthus that most closely correlates with basal body temperature. Then it takes 1000 points of temperature around the face, as the eyes are not the only method to detect.

Mobile Apps Helping Schools Reopen Safely

Monitoring and tracking student and staff exposure to COVID-19 and reports of those experiencing known symptoms is a critical part of school plans for reopening classrooms this fall. Tower Radiology is proud to announce a new Virtual Registration process for patients who schedule appointments at one of the multiple locations throughout the Tampa Bay area. Virtual Registration is a big step forward in Tower’s effort to decrease contact with staff to adhere to social distancing recommendations and to streamline the completion of necessary paperwork. The Virtual Registration Process will begin once a patient’s appointment is scheduled. The patient will receive a confirmation text message and email with a link to start the Virtual Registration process. The patient will be able to complete forms on their phone or computer and take a photo of their ID as well as exam prescription. Patients will receive a reminder text message and instructions within ninety minutes of their appointment. Once the radiology exam is completed, the patient can leave with no checkout necessary.

Virtual Registration presents many efficiencies, decrease contact with staff, adhere to social distancing recommendations, shorten lobby wait times, and elevate the patient experience. The next Tower virtual feature to be rolled out at a later date is Virtual Scheduling. This new feature will allow Tower patients the ability to schedule their radiology exam on-line at their leisure.

Cathy Kenworthy

Cathy Kenworthy recently founded Health Hippo on the belief that well-structured information has the power to transform entire industries, and it’s more than time for that transformation in healthcare. Cathy also serves as President of ConceiveAbilities, a fast-growing agency that has helped intended parents start families by matching them with gestational carriers and egg donors for the last 25 years.
