Camect, with Best-in-Class AI, Launches All-Pro Dealer Program for Security Professionals

Camect Advanced Network Video Recorder

Camect Smart Camera Hub

“We received valuable feedback from many professional installers and identified process and feature improvements that will make their deployments easier,” said Arup Mukherjee, CEO of Camect. “It made sense to build a professional program focused on the needs of pro installers and integrators.”

In 2019, Camect launched Camect Home, a device that unifies the management of compatible security cameras and uses advanced AI technology to provide highly informative alerts in real-time. Camect’s industry-leading AI detects over 30 types of objects that cameras see and eliminates false alerts from bugs, animals, leaves, rain, shadows. ect. With Camect’s All-Pro program, security camera installers, integrators, and dealers can now deliver best-in-class AI that will eliminate junk notifications and deliver a better user experience for their customers.

Camect is fully contained within affordable on-site hardware, and is significantly more accurate than more expensive products that rely on cloud-hosted analytics. It will not eat up bandwidth, records continuously, and works even when the Internet is down. These benefits are presented in a uniquely straightforward user experience that requires minimal configuration. Camect products also establish better privacy and security by storing and analyzing all video data locally.

The desire for interactive security systems is raising the adoption of smart connected devices and services in homes and businesses. Leading the way are IP cameras that bring awareness, security, safety and convenience. Although security cameras may provide real-time alerts from motion detection or use artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the cameras usually deliver so many random and irritating alerts that they fall short on providing actionable information for end users. As a result, users turn off the alerts or ignore activity that warrants further action. Cloud-based cameras also unfortunately transfer and store customer video data offsite where it is beyond the control of the customer.

Since Camect’s product launch, it has worked diligently to collect customer feedback and noticed that a large portion of active users were professional installers. Installers found Camect easy to install, compatible with many of the cameras they use, and able to provide the highest quality and most informative alerts. Camect subsequently decided to implement a program with extra features that make it easy for security professionals to deploy and manage Camect-based video systems for homes and businesses.

“We received valuable feedback from many professional installers and identified process and feature improvements that will make their deployments easier,” said Arup Mukherjee, CEO of Camect. “It made sense to build a professional program focused on the needs of pro installers and integrators.”

Camect’s All-Pro program allows security professionals to have access to professional grade Camect products with advanced features. The All-Pro program includes device setup and provisioning that allows easy configuration of devices and transfer of the installation to customers. After the customer setup is complete, a professional can manage ongoing billing and own the customer relationship. Security professionals are also able to unlock additional features such as adjustable detection sensitivity or video monitoring service applications*. In addition, the Camect All-Pro program provides direct support and training materials to help security professionals scale integrations across their teams.

The Camect All-Pro program is now available in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia. Camect will announce further regions as they become available. Details of the All-Pro program can be found on camect.com/pro where security professionals can learn more or apply to join the program.

News Image

“The USB Cash Drawers help retailers and restaurants to use Star CD3 and SMD2 cash drawers in a wider range of environments, and with or without a receipt printer.” – Christophe Naasz, Director of Business Development at Star Micronics

Star Micronics, a leading manufacturer of mobile, point of sale (POS), and customer engagement technologies, is excited to announce the new USB versions of the Value Series and Max Series Cash Drawers. This will allow retailers or restaurants only offering digital or email receipts to still collect and manage cash without requiring a receipt printer.

The CD3 Value Series and SMD2 Max Series cash drawers will still offer the same design, size, and reliability that users love, but with the option for a USB driven interface. This also provides a solution when dual cash drawers are needed in high-cash environments and the user wants to manage each drawer independently.

The USB Cash Drawers requires no external power supply and allows the host to see if the cash drawer is connected, or if it gets disconnected. Star Micronics provides StarPRNT SDK for Android, and Windows drivers for the CD3 and SMD2 USB cash drawers. Up to 8 USB cash drawers can be connected to one host device, making it the ideal solution for large bars or restaurants, retail, and more.

“Star is proud to offer expanded solutions to our Value and Max Series of cash drawers,” says Christophe Naasz, Business Development Director of Star Micronics. “The USB Cash Drawers help retailers and restaurants to use Star CD3 and SMD2 cash drawers in a wider range of environments, and with or without a receipt printer.”

Smith Names Nick Bedford as Chief Financial Officer

We look forward to incorporating Nick’s extensive knowledge, skillset, and guidance into our financial strategy.

Smith, a global distributor of electronic components and semiconductors, today announces the appointment of Nick Bedford to the position of Chief Financial Officer. In this position, Nick will oversee Smith’s global financial operations as the company expands its services and worldwide reach.

Before joining Smith, Nick spent most of his career in the energy sector and served as RWE/Excelerate’s Chief Financial Officer for ten years. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Cardiff University in the United Kingdom and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Nick has extensive experience in directing global financial operations in key regions throughout the world.

“Smith’s financial stability has been a cornerstone of our success for more than 35 years,” said Matt Hartzell, Chief Administrative Officer of Smith. “We look forward to incorporating Nick’s extensive knowledge, skillset, and guidance into our financial strategy.”

Nick is stepping into this role to succeed Smith’s CFO, Michael Weaber, who will be retiring. Weaber has provided more than a decade of service and support to Smith and the Smith family of companies and will offer guidance to Nick in his new role to ensure a smooth transition of the CFO responsibilities.

“Nick brings almost 20 years of expertise to his new role as Smith’s Chief Financial Officer, positioning him as an excellent addition to our executive team,” said Lee Ackerley, Smith’s Executive Vice President and co-founder. “His leadership of our financial operations will be instrumental as we continue to grow and innovate. It’s easy to find accounting professionals who can handle the basics like treasury and reporting, but it’s much harder to find people who can see the big picture and help the owners to grow the entire business.”

Nick has already begun to build the strategy that will support this growth.

“I’m very excited to join the team of one of the world’s premier open-market electronic component distributors,” he said. “After nearly two decades in the energy space, it is an exciting change to move into electronics, which are at the forefront of helping drive growth in the world economy.”

“I look forward to using my prior energy-commodity trading knowledge from RWE and experience managing global finance teams to help continue to drive Smith forward and expand its global footprint,” Nick added. “I believe the prospects for Smith are very encouraging as electronic automation increases in our day-to-day lives.”
