Yu joined Backstop in 2016 as VP of Marketing. Since then, she has led several successful initiatives for the company, including brand awareness, pipeline and revenue generation, and multi-channel digital marketing execution. Prior to Backstop, Yu served as VP of Marketing for LotLinx, a digital automotive advertising startup, and Adeptia, an integration-as-a-service company. She has also held multiple senior-level marketing positions for Sungard Availability Services, where she led product marketing, digital marketing, digital strategy, and demand generation.

“I am incredibly proud of the work accomplished by our entire marketing team and the results we’ve been able to demonstrate over the past three years,” said Yu. “I look forward to continuing to build Backstop’s brand as a vendor, partner, and employer within the industry, and to working with Greg to design customer marketing initiatives that maximize our client experience throughout their journey with Backstop.”

Hemisphere GNSS Debuts All-New OEM Boards and Next-Generation ASIC Technology at Global Conferences

“This new technology platform and OEM boards represent significant improvements upon previous generation technology and hardware that truly make them best-in-class and industry-leading,” said Farlin Halsey, president and chief executive officer of Hemisphere.

Today, at the INTERGEO expo and conference in Stuttgart, Germany and the ION GNSS+ conference in Miami, FL, USA, Hemisphere GNSS introduces its next-generation digital ASIC, RF ASIC, interference mitigation platforms, and five all-new positioning and heading OEM boards – the first products incorporating these powerful technological advancements.

Hemisphere’s best-in-class (Lyra II) digital ASIC and (Aquila) wideband RF ASIC designs optimize performance and provide the ability to track and process over 800 channels for position-only (Phantom series boards) and over 1,100 channels for position and heading (Vega series boards). This new ASIC technology offers flexible and scalable access to every modern and planned GNSS constellation and signal, including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, BeiDou, QZSS, IRNSS, SBAS, and Hemisphere’s Atlas® L-band. Signal support and tracking for AltBOC and BS-ACEBOC, BeiDou phase 2 and phase 3, L5, and QZSS/L6 (L6-D and L6-E) are also available.

The Lyra II and Aquila ASIC technology provide the foundation for a new GNSS receiver chipset architecture that significantly reduces the number of board components, thereby reducing complexity, improving reliability, and dramatically lowering power consumption. The powerful technology platform also includes Hemisphere’s new Cygnus™ interference mitigation technology with built-in digital filtering capabilities and spectrum analysis. The new Cygnus technology provides enhanced anti-jamming, interference detection, and mitigation.

“This new technology platform and OEM boards represent significant improvements upon previous generation technology and hardware that truly make them best-in-class and industry-leading,” said Farlin Halsey, president and chief executive officer of Hemisphere. “With these outstanding advancements in our core technology and hardware, our customers and OEM partners are future-proofed and have flexibility and scalability with the highest-value access to all modern and planned signals.”

The next-generation Lyra II, Aquila, and Cygnus technologies are available with the new Phantom 20, Phantom 34, Phantom 40, Vega 28, and Vega 40 OEM positioning and heading boards.

The Phantom 20, 34, and 40 positioning boards are the first Lyra II-based offerings in a line of all-new, low-power, high-precision OEM boards. They are multi-frequency, multi-GNSS receivers that boast more than 800 channels including access to Hemisphere’s Atlas GNSS global corrections network and offer Serial, USB, Ethernet (Phantom 40-only), and CAN connectivity for ease of use and integration. The Phantom 20 (41 x 72 mm module with 20-pin header), Phantom 34 (41 x 71 mm module with 34-pin header), and Phantom 40 (60 x 100 mm module with 24-pin and 16-pin headers) are significant upgrades for existing designs using these industry-standard form factors and offer power consumption of less than 1.8 W when tracking all signals, including L-band.

The Vega 40 and 28 are the first introductions in a line of all-new, low-power, high-precision, positioning and heading OEM boards. The multi-frequency, multi-GNSS Vega 40 and 28 GNSS receivers offer access to more than 1,100 channels including Hemisphere’s Atlas GNSS global corrections network. The Vega 40 is a 60 x 100 mm module with 24-pin and 16-pin headers and is the ideal upgrade for existing designs using this industry-standard form factor. The Vega 28 is a 45 x 71 mm module with 28-pin header and is the smallest GNSS OEM heading module ever offered to the geospatial market by Hemisphere.

These all-new OEM positioning and heading boards are making their debuts and are being featured by Hemisphere at INTERGEO in Stuttgart, Germany from September 17 through 19, 2019 (hall 3, booth C3.030) and at ION GNSS+ in Miami, FL, USA from September 18 through 19, 2019 (booth 411).

Gustavo Grodnitzky, PhD will join the faculty of The American Meditation Institute (AMI) for a 31 credit CME conference on Yoga Science as holistic mind/body medicine for physicians and other health care professionals. Entitled The Heart and Science of Yoga this comprehensive training being held October 22-26, 2019 at the Cranwell Resort and Spa in Lenox, Massachusetts, is accredited by the Albany Medical College and the American Medical Association, and is designed to help relieve physician stress and burnout.

Gustavo Grodnitzky, PhD is a noted speaker, author, consultant, psychologist, and Chair of the AMI Psychological Education Committee. After obtaining his Ph.D. in clinical and school psychology from Hofstra University, he completed post-doctorate degrees in both cognitive therapy and forensic psychology.

Dr. Grodnitzky’s participation at this year’s CME conference will include a thought-provoking lecture that explores how the power of culture impacts physician perspective and resilience. With a higher understanding of how the general culture and medical culture affect our thoughts and actions, physicians will be able to apply simple yogic principles and practices in their everyday lives to help relieve burnout. Now in its eleventh year of providing physicians continuing medical education credits, this unique holistic mind/body medicine conference will present an in-depth study of the historical, philosophical, and scientific nature of Yoga Science. Practical yogic skills will be taught to all attendees to expand their knowledge of and experience with health-affirming, yogic practices.

The entire “Heart and Science of Yoga” CME curriculum is a transformative learning experience. It is dedicated to providing quality, comprehensive, and evidence-based education. Topics this year will include a comprehensive overview and instruction on AMI Meditation, Epigenetics, diaphragmatic breathing, mantra science, yoga psychology, mind function optimization, food as medicine, Ayurveda, easy-gentle yoga, lymph system detoxification, and detailed instruction on how to use the chakra system as a diagnostic tool.

The dedication, enthusiasm, and teaching methodology of the entire AMI faculty create a dynamic and interactive course for their students. I have less stress, more focus, and am able to serve my patients with greater clarity. It becomes surprisingly easy now to recognize the many clinical situations in which patients with somatic manifestations of ‘dis-ease’ could greatly benefit from Yoga Science.”

Numerous medical pioneers and healthcare professionals such as Dean Ornish MD, Mehmet Oz MD, Larry Dossey MD, and Bernie Siegel MD have also endorsed AMI’s core curriculum.

San Luis Obispo Dentist, Dr. Douglas Ng, Releases ‘Warm Weather Treats That Are Good For Your Teeth’

Dentist San Luis Obispo

Berries are healthy treats alternatives to sugary treats.

Some of the most common beverages consumed by Americans are loaded with sugar, including those we think of as “healthy” such as juice.

Summer is a time for barbecues, parties and picnics and lots of delicious food and drink, but not all of it is good for our teeth and gums. Dr. Douglas Ng, family dentist in San Luis Obispo has some tips for healthy alternatives to sugary summer treats.

Warm weather is the time for ice cream, and popsicles and ice-filled cold drinks to go along with the hot dogs, hamburgers, corn on the cob and watermelon. But, the American Dental Association (ADA) reports that, no matter how refreshing, the consumption of sugar-filled sodas, iced tea, and other treats is not good for our teeth and oral health.

Some of the most common beverages consumed by Americans are loaded with sugar, including those we think of as “healthy” such as juice. The ADA reports a United States Department of Agriculture stated that “sugar should make up no more than 10%” of daily calories, or fewer than the equivalent of 18 teaspoons per day, depending on whether you are an adult man or woman, or a child. A single glass of apple juice contains close to the adult daily allocation of sugar. Children should not consume more than the equivalent of six teaspoons per day.

Don’t despair! There are many low to no-sugar foods and beverages that are going to make summer meals and treats as tasty and appealing as ever. Dr. Ng has prepared the following list to help parents and party hosts make better decisions.

  • Add crunch to the menu with slices of apples, pears, cucumbers, celery, and carrots instead of bowls of potato chips. Potato chips might not contain sugar but they do collect between the teeth, inviting cavity-causing bacteria to attack teeth and gums. Crunch fresh fruit and vegetables are like natural toothbrushes scrubbing the teeth and stimulating saliva.
  • Cheese! Dairy products like cheese, milk and yogurt are naturally low in sugar and rich in calcium and phosphorus for strengthening tooth enamel. Cheese, especially when served with crunchy fruit and vegetables give our mouths a healthy boost.
  • Read labels and choose low sugar or sugar-free ice cream and desserts. Or, make your own frozen desserts with sugar-free yogurt and fresh fruit.
  • Watch for traditional picnic and barbecue foods that contain sugar, such as baked beans and sauces. Make your own and cut down on the amount of sugar, or shop for sugar-free varieties.
  • Serve sparkling water —even flavor-infused sparkling waters have less sugar than sodas. Make ice tea without sugar and let guests sweeten to taste. Do some research to find recipes for sugar-free summer beverages.

Being watchful about sugar intake does not mean no one can have a good time. Good company and good healthy food are always the recipe for fun and companionship. Dr. Ng is always happy to help patients make dietary choices that promote dental health. And, remember to brush and floss daily.
