Rivet received a Master’s in Public Health from Boston University. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Boston College and practiced as a Registered Nurse for several years prior to entering the managed care industry. She has been recognized by the American Association of Health Plans, Boston University School of Public Health, Fortune magazine, Girl Scouts of Minnesota and Wisconsin River Valleys, Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal, Minnesota’s City Business, Minnesota Women’s Health Leadership TRUST, Twin Cities Business magazine, Women Business Leaders in Healthcare, Linkage, and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing. The Lord’s Prayer teaches the value of forgiveness over the pursuit of revenge, and the author says that it is one of the most difficult yet essential acts to practice. While self-forgiveness and reconciliation with others can hurt, the resulting freedom from self-destructive behavior and guilt is indescribable. This great act of forgiveness would not be possible either if it weren’t for God’s great act of love: sacrificing His only Son on the cross to save humanity from sin. It is only because of His example that people are capable of forgiveness in the first place.

There is much to learn from the Lord’s Prayer other than the words in it, but it’s up to the faithful if they will open their hearts to God’s will. “Commit your unknown future, fraught with potential temptations, into the hands of God our Father who wants only the best for you. Then once again, in a loud and clear voice, pledge your allegiance to the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory of God—first and foremost. These are presumptive Teachable Moments from the world’s most familiar prayer. Depart from them only with great caution.”

Reverend Johnny White, author of Teachable Moments, served for more than 25 years helping married couples and single adults as Senior Associate Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas. After that, he served another 12 years as a pastor and senior pastor of the interdenominational church at Horseshoe Bay, Texas. He retired in May 2017 but continues volunteering with his wife, Patricia, in church and community programs.

NPD Forecasts Three Percent Annual Revenue Growth for the U.S. Consumer Technology Market Through 2021

While some categories offer new, greenfield growth opportunities, the majority of revenue growth will occur from trade-ups and average sales price increases, as opposed to rising unit volume sales.

According to the newly released Future of Tech report from The NPD Group, consumer electronics revenue is expected to grow 3 percent annually through 2021 in the U.S. consumer marketplace. Desire for big screen TVs, product innovations in wireless headphones, continued home automation adoption, and rising interest in smart displays will fuel growth.

“Steady single-digit growth is notable in a mature market where consumers are not replacing or repurchasing items at the same rate they did in prior years,” said Stephen Baker, vice president, industry advisor for The NPD Group. “While some categories offer new, greenfield growth opportunities, the majority of revenue growth will occur from trade-ups and average sales price (ASP) increases, as opposed to rising unit volume sales.”

In mainstay categories consumer expectations are changing the product mix, and the movement to large screen TVs is raising category revenues, despite expected flat unit sales overall. By 2021, one in four TV unit sales will be for a screen size larger than 65-inches, and those will account for 60 percent of the category’s sales dollars.

In audio, true wireless headphones have become the format of choice for consumers and are expected to see tremendous growth over the forecast period. Based on Future of Tech report findings, true wireless headphones will hold three-quarters of the headphone market dollar share by 2021.

“True wireless earbuds have evolved into virtual must-have mobile phone accessories, and many products now offer features such as hands-free digital assistant access and touch/tap controls for interfacing and controlling smartphones. This bond between headphone and smartphone will help drive new sales in the future,” noted Ben Arnold, executive director, industry analyst. “Headphones is just one example of a mainstay category that is driving growth through new feature sets, we expect brands in other segments will take a similar approach to find growth in this competitive environment.”

While smart home technology will begin to slow compared to recent years, NPD expects it will remain an area of strength as decreases in ASPs will make products more accessible and drive acceptance among consumers. Home automation revenue is expected to grow 40 percent from 2018 to 2021. During this timeframe smart display dollar sales are expected to triple as they become more available and serve both as a smart home interface device and a point of modern convenience.

CorePower Yoga, America’s leading yoga studio, is expanding its presence in the Triangle later this winter with a new studio opening in Chapel Hill’s Eastgate Shopping Center. This will be the fourth location in the region, making it even more convenient for students to experience the community, consistency in practice, and the variety of classes offered at CorePower Yoga’s fitness studios.

The Chapel Hill location will be open seven days a week with classes offered throughout the day, beginning at 6 a.m. and ending at 8 p.m. The new studio is approximately 3,437 square feet and will be equipped with two large studios and men’s and women’s spa-inspired changing rooms, showers, vanity areas and lockers.

Four class formats will be offered including CorePower Yoga 1, CorePower Yoga 2, Hot Power Fusion and Yoga Sculpt. Formats range in style, difficulty and flow to fit every experience level. All classes are designed to fire up strength, ignite intention and build the core.

Conscious Discipline, a leader in social-emotional learning and classroom management best practices, has partnered with Reflection Sciences in an effort to better measure and improve executive function in children. Reflection Sciences was founded by Phil Zelazo, Ph.D., and Stephanie Carlson, Ph.D., researchers at the University of Minnesota and creators of the Minnesota Executive Function Scale (MEFS). The MEFS App™ is a direct digital tablet assessment and the most accurate measurement of executive function available today.

Beginning in mid-2019, Conscious Discipline will be selling access to the MEFS App™ and training materials through its website. After purchasing the app and integrating it into instruction, users will receive specific Conscious Discipline intervention activities tied to each child’s executive function development, their age, and their performance on the game-like assessment.

Student data gathered through the MEFS App™ can be used to monitor progress, track the development of executive function and evaluate the effects of interventions and curricula. The assessment is brief, reliable, and valid and can be administered starting at age two and extending through adulthood. Children may be assessed multiple times throughout the year with the purchase of the MEFS training and one license per student.
