L.E. Wiesenauer’s newly released “Combat PTSD Seeking Jesus” is a poignant healing journey for veterans, their families, and the Christian community

News Image

“Combat PTSD Seeking Jesus”: a beautiful tool that will guide one in coping with PTSD after traumatic phases and renewing their life through God’s strength and power as they go over these pages of mind-clearing messages of healing. “Combat PTSD Seeking Jesus” is the creation of published author L.E. Wiesenauer, a 20-year member of National Alliance on Mental Illness of Madison County as second vice president. He is diagnosed with combat-related PTSD as part of Operation Rolling Thunder’s killing of North Vietnamese civilians. He is also on the advisory board creating awareness regarding need for services for veterans and families experiencing PTSD. Since 2000, he has been writing poetry as therapy and consequences of combat, and transitioned from patient to advocate and poet.

Wiesenauer shares, “Combating PTSD not only affects the veteran as anxiety, depression, memory loss, and nightmares. There are problems with intimacy. It is very difficult for your spouse or significant other not to become very stressed at constantly being awakened by screams and, sometimes, physical abuse. Same as alcoholism, untreated PTSD will create dysfunctional generations.

“NAMI (national alliance on mental illness) provides evidence-based truth that veterans who nourish their faith will do 30–40 percent better at coping with their mental illness and preserving relationships. God has not abandoned you. Lester Sumrall’s favorite quote, ‘Feed your faith and starve your doubts,’ is still true for treating PTSD. I prayed for Jesus to heal my PTSD and found, through answered prayer, that Jesus forgave my terrible sin and healed my spirit.

“I became functional again, and just as Dixie became God’s social worker, I pray for my book Combat PTSD Seeking Jesus to become a path for veterans, their families, and all Christians to realize the healing prayer that God’s love provides. My hope also is congregations across America will acknowledge veterans and their families nourishing them with love and prayer.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, L.E. Wiesenauer’s new book is an inspiring read written for everyone, especially combat veterans and their family, that will allow them to renew their emotional strengths and abilities to be able to carry life again and achieve their goals.

Knotty Roller, the Most Versatile Way to Loosen Knots and Strengthen Muscles, Breaks $30,000 Mark on Kickstarter

News Image

With the Knotty Roller, anyone can take the cost and clutter out of muscle recovery. In short, the Knotty Roller is a single solution complete with six knot-blasting tools…all in one badass roller.

Knotty Roller, the affordable all-in-one muscle recovery system with six tools packed into one ingenious magnetic roller case, quickly broke its campaign goal– raising more than $30,000 on Kickstarter.

“We’re excited to see the response from the crowdfunding community, who’ll be the first to enjoy the ease of use and versatility of our product,” said Knotty Roller CEO and Creator Wesley Wilson, a long-time personal trainer in California who developed the product after suffering his own injury while running.

“During my recovery, I tried out all the different types of foam rollers and massage tools and realized there was a real need for a more versatile product on the market that could be used over the entire body, not require as many individual pieces and be affordable,” Wilson said.

Wilson says there are 200 different ways to use the Knotty Roller, which means there’s no knot that stands a chance.

“When all pieces are together, the Knotty Roller is a dense 24-inch foam roller,” he said. “Then, when you remove the top, it becomes a 24-inch half-dome…with these two taking care of all the big muscle groups.”

In addition, the Knotty Roller includes a massage stick, two different massage balls and a stretch strap. The stretch strap is also used as the knotty roller carrying strap.

Wilson notes that the use of foam rolling is becoming more popular among a wide range of exercise enthusiasts – from someone just hitting the gym a few times a week to professional athletes – for muscle recovery and to strengthen muscles, as well.

“The Knotty Roller also saves you a bundle, since the cost of each one of these premium tools on their own adds up really quick,” Wilson said. “With the Knotty Roller, anyone can take the cost and clutter out of muscle recovery. In short, the Knotty Roller is a single solution complete with six knot-blasting tools…all in one badass roller.”

Roberta Jackson’s newly released “Scenario Queen” is a gentle reminder of God’s existence and His endless grace even in such a corporeal world.

News Image

“Scenario Queen: God is omnipresent and omnipotent; He never slumbers or fails.”: a fascinating journey of June as she comes across a series of situations where there are choices she must make and challenges she must face. “Scenario Queen: God is omnipresent and omnipotent; He never slumbers or fails.” is the creation of published author Roberta Jackson, an employee at one of the oldest African American congregational churches in the US.

Since young, she has been using writing as comfort and encouragement. For more than three decades, she has continued to encourage and minister to herself and to others using both poetry and song.

Jackson shares, “Scenario Queen is a book filled with circumstances, encounters, and choices that June had to make. These stories may be similar to encounters on your life’s journey as well. As you read this book, whether you’re a believer in Jesus Christ or not, the author’s hope is that you find encouragement that light shines on a past memory or a current circumstance in ways you’ve not thought of before. Just know you are not alone!

“Through this book, hopefully, you see that nothing is a coincidence and that things are going on behind the scenes you can’t imagine. That you might see there are some things that happen which you can’t control, but an all knowing God is watching over you. That He knows the beginning and the end of all things. That God has a way of working things out for the good and sometimes lessens the consequences or blows in some situations. That He’s your provider, protector, redeemer, and deliverer.

“The author hopes you can see how a loving God was there all the time even when you didn’t know it or see it. She prays that you develop a deeper relationship or start a relationship with God as a result. She hopes for clarity and new direction in your life. That your eyes are open, and you see how God is the potter and we are merely His clay on the potter’s wheel. (Jer. 18:3-4)

“As each of you journey through this life, she hopes you discover, with God’s guidance, your destiny or purpose.

“God is the key, and He’s offering it to you. He’s knocking at your heart’s door with open arms.”

Published by Christian Faith Publishing, Roberta Jackson’s new book is a soul-soothing read for those who have faith in God’s existence and in His plans. Likewise, this book also hopes to inspire those who are still in doubt of God and convince them of His power so that they, too, will place their lives in His righteous hands.

SRND’s CodeDay Program Will Give Laptops to Hundreds of Low-Income High School Students

Four high school students huddle around a laptop, looking happy.

High school students use their laptop to code a project at CodeDay New York.

If you have someone who gets really excited about coding, but she can only code in class for 30 minutes a day, it’s going to be hard for her to compete.

CodeDay, a 24-hour programming event hosted seasonally in 50 cities, is giving hundreds of laptops to low-income students who attend this school year, starting with its November 9th events.

Despite efforts to increase equality in computer science education, access to a computer is a big barrier for many students. Nearly one-third of schools serving low-income students now offer classes in computer science, but only half of these families have a home computer, according to a 2019 study by the Pew Research Center.

A majority of these students are also Black or Latinx, populations which are underrepresented in technology careers.

“Right now, these students can’t even do coding homework,” said Tyler Menezes, Executive Director at SRND. “Meanwhile, you go a few miles away, and kids are learning online with trial-and-error and YouTube videos. If you have someone who gets really excited about coding, but she can only code in class for 30 minutes a day, it’s going to be hard for her to compete.”

At CodeDay events, high school students learn about coding by pitching ideas for games or apps, then working in teams with mentors to create their ideas. No prior coding experience is required to participate.

The nonprofit has purchased and refurbished hundreds of laptops for CodeDay attendees using donations from individuals in the technology industry. Students from schools which have a low-income, underrepresented population are eligible to take home a laptop at the event.

Travis Heppe, a software engineer at a large tech company, led the effort because he was concerned about equity in the technology industry. “I didn’t realize until recently that the reasons are questions of access even more than of interest. I also didn’t realize until recently just how bad the numbers really were. If even one of these laptops gets a minority student into a high-paying tech job, the whole thing will have been worth it.”

Interested high school teachers, administrators, and families can learn more about CodeDay at CodeDay.org, but must contact the nonprofit directly for a free ticket and to register for a laptop.

About SRND: Since 2009, SRND has developed and grown worldwide initiatives to motivate students to pursue Computer Science. Its largest program, CodeDay, has reached more than 35,000 students. SRND, a non-profit, is headquartered in Seattle, Wash. and runs programs in 50 cities across the US and Canada.

smarTours Launches Battlefields of WWI & WWII Tour to Commemorate, Honor Fallen Soldiers and Veterans

https://www.prweb.com/

smarTours

Today, smarTours, the leading provider of value-driven international travel experiences to bucket list destinations, announced the launch of the company’s Battlefields of WWI & WWII tour. The tour will visit locations of world-changing events across five European countries spanning both world wars. The airfare-included tour is truly unique because it visits locations from both world wars, as opposed to other battlefield tours that only visit locations specific to one war, particular battle or geographical area and don’t include airfare.

The 13-day tour visits historic locations across England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. History buffs will enjoy highlights such as London’s Imperial War Museum, Churchill War Room and Bunker, Normandy Beaches including Omaha Beach, Dunkirk shores, The Maginot Line, and Ypres (home to the biggest battlefields of WWI and WWII), among many other notable historical locations. Fittingly, this tour ends in Germany, where WWII ended and the Cold War began. A Berlin extension is available where travelers will tour notable locations across East and West Berlin as well as travel to the location of the Potsdam Conference.

Timed to Veterans Day, smarTours is offering a 5 percent discount for veterans and active military. The discount can be used on any departing Battlefields tour.

“One of the top reasons our travelers give for wanting to travel internationally is to learn about the history of the destination. Our Battlefields tour makes it accessible and affordable for any history buff to reach often remote locations on their travel bucket list,” says Kendra Guild, smarTours Director of Product & Operations. “We feel it’s important to offer a discount to veterans and active military, so they can learn more about the history of those who served our country before them.”

The starting price for the airfare included 13-day tour is $3,999 or just $309 a day. smarTours is offering five Battlefields departures that depart April-October 2020. Each tour includes first-class accommodations, ground transportation, English speaking guides, fees for activities and many meals. A 3-day Berlin extension tour is available for an additional $799.

Bieber’s Toothy Garter Removal is as Risky as it is Risqué, says A-Z Dental Care

https://www.prweb.com/

Will his toothy recklessness damage the world-famous Bieber grin?

While the intimate moment might have made for a memorable photo — using teeth for any other purpose than eating risks damaging them.

An October 10 article on People reports on the mildly risqué Instagram post by Justin Bieber in which he is seen removing his new bride’s garter with his teeth. The post confirmed the pop star’s recent marriage to Hailey Baldwin, destroying the dreams of millions of ardent “Beliebers” around the world. West Covina based dental office A-Z Dental Care, however, says that – while the intimate moment might have made for a memorable photo — using teeth for any other purpose than eating risks damaging them, even if the situation seems harmless.

The office explains that human teeth are specially designed to break down specific types of food. A-Z Dental Care says that molars, for example, are largely meant for grinding vegetables or roots, not biting into fabrics or other objects. When a person uses their teeth on an object, their risk for chipping or breaking a tooth gets exponentially higher, the office notes. Common habits such as biting one’s nails are a frequent cause of chipped teeth, the office adds. A-Z Dental Care says that while it is unlikely that a single event will actually destroy a person’s teeth, getting out of the habit of using teeth instead of scissors or a knife will limit the risk of chipping or breaking substantially.

Of course, A-Z Dental Care notes that even the most oral-health conscious person can still experience chipping or breaking, and when it happens its time to visit the dentist. The dental office says that chipped teeth have the potential to break further so it’s important to schedule an appointment with your dentist right away. If a chipped tooth ends up exposing the pulp of the tooth in even a minute amount, the patient’s risk for infection and costly restorative procedures skyrockets. Taking care of a chipped tooth sooner rather than later is always in a patient’s best interests, the office notes.

If a patient experiences a broken or missing tooth, however, the matter is much more urgent, says A-Z Dental Care. Broken teeth have a high risk of causing infection as food particles can get stuck inside of hard-to-reach crevasses, allowing infection-causing bacteria to flourish. The office also notes that missing teeth can lead to bone loss if unchecked for long periods of time, as there is nothing to stimulate bone tissue production in the gap. Getting dental implant as soon as possible can reduce the risk of bone loss and infection considerably while also restoring lost confidence in a patient’s smile and full functionality.

For more information on all of A-Z Dental Care’s services, readers can visit their website at https://www.atozdentalcare.com/ or by calling 626-314-6908.

HeroZona National Veteran Summit Launches Bridge Forum to Help and Hire Veterans with PTSD

The HeroZona Foundation has announced a Bridge Forum on Nov. 5 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel (260 W. Dunlap Ave.) in Phoenix, which will discuss mental health and first responder veterans. A study by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration found that only 50% of returning vets who need veteran mental health treatment will receive these services, which is why the Bridge Forum will aim to start a discussion surrounding how to help and hire those with PTSD.

The Bridge Forum will take place on day one of the three-day HeroZona National Veteran Summit, a multi-day experience for America’s veterans including Arizona’s 640,000 veterans, 38,000 active duty service members and 1,000 veteran owned companies. The third annual summit will return to Phoenix Nov. 5 through 7.

The Bridge Forum theme will include mental health professionals, veterans, first responders and law enforcement discussing how to break the stigma surrounding mental illness. The forum will focus on current efforts within the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, Arizona Coalition for Military Families, Arizona Association of Chiefs of Police, Arizona Fire District Association, and community resources to ensure first responders who have served in the military have resources to mental healthcare throughout their career after military service.

“Bridge Forums are an essential tool in bridging the gap between veterans, mental health professionals, first responders and law enforcement,” said HeroZona Foundation Founder and U.S. Army Desert Storm Veteran, Alan “AP” Powell. “Our goal is to empower veterans who have PTSD and let them know that there are resources available to help them succeed in life after service.”

Presenters from Veterans Affairs will highlight current clinical and research activities and demonstrate strategies first responders can utilize to enhance their work, gain support from family members and optimize their health. Community organizations will also provide resources available in Phoenix for first responders and their families. The final presentation will be from first responders and fire and police department clinicians who will discuss support and services within their departments.

Bridge Forum presenters and panelist will include Veterans Affairs, Be Connected, Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services, Arizona Health Cost Containment System, Department of Economic Security, Veteran’s Court, AZ Coalition for Military Families, Mercy Care, Arizona Statewide Public Safety Peer Support Association, 100 Club, COPS, Emergency Responders Assistance Program and Institute of Healing Memories. Sponsors will include Arizona State University and the Department of Veterans’ Services.

The three-day HeroZona National Veteran Summit is free and open to active duty service members, National Guard and Army Reserve, veterans, military spouses and caregivers. To learn more about the

“Getting car insurance discounts is the best way to lower premiums. There is a wide variety of discounts, but only a few of them guarantee a significant price drop,” said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

The most valuable car insurance discounts are:

  • Defensive driving discount. Graduating a defensive driving program comes with multiple benefits. First of all, drivers will learn more about the traffic hazards, how to identify them and what maneuvers to apply in order to avoid an accident. Secondly, they will get access to a car insurance discount which varies in terms of length and value by the insurance provider. After graduating, the driver is eligible for a traffic violation pardon. Offsetting license points will also prevent premiums from increasing upon next renewal. In order to get access to this discount, drivers must graduate in approved courses.
  • Low mileage discount. The logic for this discount is really simple: those who drive less are less exposed to accidents. That means a lower risk of filing a claim and costing the insurance company money. In order to get access to this discount, a driver must drive less than the annual average. Also, check the rules stipulated by the current car insurance provider.
  • Good student discounts. Teen car insurance discount has always been a really expensive investment. However, teens who study well have a chance to significantly reduce the expense. The value of the discount can be as high as 35%, depending on the carrier and its conditions. In order to get this discount, the student has to provide a card report showing these grades or bring other required documentation. Some companies also ask that the student must be on Dean’s Honorary List.
