True story follows 50-year–old’s journey before, during and after major hip surgeries and recoveries

News Image

Based on her journey before and after hip replacement surgeries, “Watch Your Shadow” (published by Lulu) by J. M. Cunningham shares how she returned to her active life.

Reading more like a story than a self-help book, Cunningham’s publication will inform readers all they need to know about those undergoing a hip replacement surgery. She wanted to give readers insight to some of the mystery or unknown conditions (physical, mental and emotional) that accompany this surgery. The books focus is to help the patient and the person caring for the patient prepare for, understand, and think about their plan for adapting to life after the surgery.

An excerpt from the book reads:

She told me now lift my leg up away from the right one (sideways scissors). Boy did I get put in my place (and I desired it). My mind and my will said, “Lift my leg up,” but nothing happened. Not a muscle! I got a little chuckle and smirk and a comment like “Guess you have more you can work on.” How enlightening!

“You truly never really know the impact your journey or book might have on someone until you actually share it,” Cunningham said. “Watch Your Shadow” is available for purchase at: https://www.amazon.com/Watch-Your-Shadow-Replacement-Operations-ebook/dp/B07WJ1C241

Christie’s Jack Kline inducted into the ShowEast Hall of Fame

News Image

“Jack has been a leader at Christie and in the industry for many years. He is a respected statesman and voice in the industry and has been an inspiration to many people. Jack is certainly a major addition to the hall of fame.”

Jack Kline, current advisor and former Chairman, President and CEO of Christie was inducted into the annual ShowEast Hall of Fame. An honor which pays tribute to a select band of film industry veterans, the inductees are hand-picked by an all-industry executive committee. Kline’s induction ceremony took place at a special gala luncheon held on October 17, the final day of ShowEast 2019.

ShowEast began its “Hall of Fame” in 1999 with the aim of recognizing individuals who have served the motion picture industry with great distinction. The list of inductees includes those from exhibition, distribution as well as the equipment and concession business. The ShowEast executive committee takes nominations yearly and then invites those selected to join each year at the convention. Upon reflection, Robert Sunshine, of Film Expo Group, said this about Jack, “It is a great honor to induct my good friend Jack Kline into the hall of fame. Jack has been a leader at Christie and in the industry for many years. He is a respected statesman and voice in the industry and has been an inspiration to many people. Jack is certainly a major addition to the hall of fame.”

This honor is the latest in a career filled with outstanding achievements. Jack was most recently recognized by the Variety Childrens’ Charity of Northern California for his long history of involvement with charities and commitment to good causes.

Kline’s involvement in the film industry spans over 40 years and is noteworthy for his pioneering work in the adoption of digital projection in movie theaters. During the shift from film to digital, he successfully formed strategic partnerships with major Hollywood studios, exhibitors, projector manufacturers, and technology providers to advance the installation of digital cinema. He then played a critical role in developing the Virtual Print Fee (VPF) financial solution and the Christie/AIX deployment program that introduced thousands of cutting-edge digital cinema projectors into the marketplace.

The program’s success played a key role in sparking the adoption of digital cinema projectors and launching a revolution in entertainment worldwide. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was presented with the ‘Ken Mason Inter-Society Award’ at CinemaCon in 2014.

Jack is a member of the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers (SMPTE), Motion Picture Pioneers, and International Theatre Equipment Association (ITEA).

ShowEast takes place October 14-17, 2019, at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach in Miami, Florida. Dr. William Lane Hosts Second SmileOn!™ Full Arch Dental Implant Bootcamp in Plymouth, MA

Dr. William Lane, Oral Surgeon in Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA

Dr. William Lane Hosts Dental Implant Bootcamp in Plymouth, MA

Having a dental implant is literally the closest thing to having a natural tooth.

Dr. William Lane of Lane Oral Surgery will host the second module of his patented SmileOn!™ full arch dental implant series in Plymouth, MA. The SmileOn! Full Arch Bootcamp covers full arch fixed dental implants, a solution that provides patients who suffer with failing or missing teeth the most advanced option for permanent dentures. This second module of the bootcamp will cover how to effectively explain treatment plans to patients, as well as the education material that should be presented to them. The SmileOn! Bootcamp was designed for dentists who are interested in gaining more education and skill in full mouth dental implants.

“Having a dental implant is literally the closest thing to having a natural tooth,” says Dr. Lane. “The implant is completely stable, and it doesn’t move in any way. It’s functional in aesthetics and ability to chew, and you have a long-term solution as implants very rarely have problems. Overall, it’s a method that allows for the most natural replacement of a missing tooth.”

In partnership with Keystone Dental Lab, Arcari Dental Lab and Progressive Dental Marketing, the SmileOn! Full Arch Bootcamp is designed to help doctors learn and grow their implant practice. The second module will take place at Lane Oral Surgery on Friday, November 8, 2019. Those presenting will lecture on the key steps of communicating to patients, covering exactly what treatment a patient requires, what the treatment consists of and the prosthetic options available to create these permanent denture solutions. Course objectives include:

  • Presentation of treatment options to the patient
  • Coaching on effective patient discussion
  • Presentation of treatment plans by the surgeon and lab
  • Overview of prosthetic options from Keystone Dental
  • Review of patient education material

Just as this module is all about patient communication, Lane Oral Surgery places this as a top priority within its practice as well. Dr. Lane always works to ensure patients have a thorough understanding of their treatment before it begins, especially when it comes to complex dental implant procedures. Dr. Lane developed the SmileOn! system, creating a full mouth solution for those desiring permanent dentures.

With SmileOn!, patients can receive a full mouth of new teeth utilizing as few as four dental implants. When a prosthesis of teeth is attached to these implants, this provides patients with a permanent denture that allows them to speak, eat and smile with confidence. Many denture concerns, such as denture pain, slipping or clicking, are alleviated with permanent dentures. Plus, patients can expect these full mouth dental implants to last for many years.

Dr. Lane conveniently practices out of two offices, with locations in Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA. Those in or around Plymouth, MA and Sandwich, MA who are interested in learning more about SmileOn! full arch dental implants are encouraged to contact Lane Oral Surgery by calling 508-746-8700 or visiting http://www.laneoralsurgery.com.

Vegas Inc names Jonathan Baktari, MD of e7 Health a top finalist for Top Tech Award

https://www.prweb.com/

e7 Health’s Lobby

Jonathan Baktari, M.D., CEO and founder of e7 Health, has been named a finalist for Vegas Inc.’s 2019 Top Tech Awards in the health care category.

The Top Tech Awards honor outstanding technology leaders in the Las Vegas area. Finalists are nominated by their peers and clients and are chosen by an independent panel of judges. Other categories for the annual awards include Startup Tech of the Year, private business, publicly traded business, education, government agency, nonprofit business and hotel/gaming.

This year, Dr. Baktari enhanced safety features for e7 Health’s cloud-based software program e7 Charts, which combines electronic medical records and practice management software to offer patients safe and high-quality care. The software reduces the use of physical forms, gives patients quick access to medical results via an online portal, allows online appointment booking and sends text message and email reminders of appointments or vaccination due dates. It also enables executives for corporate clients to search their employees’ medical records and serves as a tool to archive them.

The updated safety features include integrating the system with the Nevada WebIZ database, the statewide immunization database that contains vaccination records. This enables e7 Health staff to identify when a vaccine is needed. This update is just one of up to 10 new safety features that are added each month, according to Dr. Baktari. e7 Health’s cloud based electronic health records and management software also integrates directly with laboratories such as CPL and Labcorp.

For staff members, e7 Health also created e7 University, an online education tool that provides employees with dozens of courses.

Dr. Baktari and other finalists will be honored in November at a cocktail reception and ceremony at the Smith Center for the Performing Arts. They also will be featured in a special section of Vegas Inc.

First-ever image projected onto Russian White House using 36 Christie 4K projectors

News Image

The number and variety of projects that we have completed using Christie Boxer projectors represent more than just a list of events…it is a true honor for us to be able to add this particular facade to the portfolio of sites that we have worked on.

Russian National Flag Day was celebrated on a large scale this year, with a number of cities planning as many as three special events to mark the occasion. The central events took place in Moscow, with the iconic facades of the capital’s buildings coming alive with projection mapping for several evenings. The key event in the city was the projection onto the White House, the House of the Government of the Russian Federation, as this was the first time in history that the building façade had been illuminated using projection mapping. Big Screen Show (BSS), which organized the historic event, selected 36 Christie® Boxer 4K30 3DLP® projectors.

National Flag Day was established in 1994, and has been celebrated annually on August 22 ever since. 2019 is a special anniversary year, since the Russian flag is turning 25 years old, so festivities appropriate to the occasion were arranged. Arkady Gerbovitsky, Commercial Director and one of the founders of BSS, said, “It was a great honor for us to be able to work on this project. Of course, it was also a tremendous responsibility. The White House, just like the flag itself, is one of the country’s most important symbols, so the bar was set high. Before we attempted it, no one had ever projected video onto the facade of the White House before. We’re naturally proud that we managed to do it.”

A dynamic image of the Russian tricolor with a resolution of over 1 million pixels was projected onto the White House for four days in late August courtesy of 36 Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors. The projectors were installed across from the House of the Russian Government on two towers on the Moscow River embankment, at a distance of approximately 115 meters. What appeared to be a single projected image was in fact composed of 12 frames (4 frames wide, 3 frames high), with each frame measuring 34×18 meters, with a total projection surface of 5,500 square meters. Due to the high brightness and the 4K resolution of the Christie projectors, the central part of the facade displaying the tricolor could be seen from many places around the city, including from the water and aboard pleasure boats.

“The number and variety of projects that we have completed using Christie Boxer projectors represent more than just a list of events. The story behind each one of them is unique. But it is a true honor for us to be able to add this particular facade to the portfolio of sites that we have worked on. Naturally, the tight deadlines and the strict protocols governing the facility’s operation were special factors that influenced how we worked on the project,” Evgeny Marinichev, Technical Director of BSS, noted. “But thanks to some good teamwork, everything went as planned. Of all the features that the Christie Boxer projectors offer, the IP management capabilities proved to be particularly useful.”

A team from Christie partner dreamlaser also worked on site near the White House. Some of the Christie Boxer projectors, along with the video servers, were transported from Nizhny Novgorod to Moscow.

During the anniversary celebration for the Russian tricolor, another facade in the capital was also covered in a video projection mapping: the building complex on Prospekt Akademika Sakharova. Three towers fitted with 12 Christie Boxer 4K30 projectors were installed on the opposite side of the avenue, each projecting onto a separate facade of the tripartite structure. The image was projected onto the upper part of the facade of the iconic Vnesheconombank complex.

“In addition to the tight deadlines that we had to meet on this project, we also had to deal with the special architectural features of the building: the facade featured contrasts between light exterior walls and almost black windows,” Evgeny Marinichev continued. “So we conducted preliminary tests in order to ensure that the flag’s image could be projected at an acceptable quality level. Here, we also worked with 4K content across a projection area of 65×35 m. Again, the IP management features proved to be very useful to us here, just like they were at the first site.”

The flawless color reproduction of the Christie Boxer 4K30 3DLP projectors also played an important role: “As in our previous projects, we again found that it was vital to work exclusively with this equipment, since we have boundless confidence in its capabilities and specifications. In particular, we relied on these projectors to accurately reproduce the flag’s colors, which are strictly regulated. This was especially tricky given the scale of the projection. Now we can say with confidence that everything was carried out to the highest level. The projection was visible from bridges, from the water, and from the city streets.”

Silicon Valley Hair Institute, Bay Area Hair Transplant Specialists, Announces New Post about Location Centrality for San Francisco, San Jose, and San Mateo

Silicon Valley Hair Institute is a cutting-edge hair transplant clinic in the Peninsula region of the Bay Area.

Bay Area hair transplant

Our clinic is simple to get to and right in between two of what we call the ‘anchor’ cities.

Silicon Valley Hair Institute, the Bay Area Hair Transplant leader at http://siliconvalleyhairinstitute.com/, is proud to announce a blog post for Bay Area locals searching for an easy-to-find expert hair transplant team in the Peninsula region. Nearly midway between San Francisco and San Jose and very convenient to San Mateo, the company’s Foster City headquarters makes it time-efficient for busy Bay Area residents to mitigate their hair loss via a hair transplant.

“Our clinic is simple to get to and right in between two of what we call the ‘anchor’ cities. Anyone living around San Jose or San Francisco can meet us halfway in Foster City,” explained Dr. Miguel Canales, hair loss surgeon for SVHI. “And when they arrive, we are easy to spot. The building is right out front at Hillsdale Boulevard. We also serve many San Mateo clients.”

Residents near San Francisco or San Jose can review the new post for Silicon Valley Hair Institute at http://siliconvalleyhairinstitute.com/want-bay-area-hair-transplant-foster-city-easy-commute/. Foster City is centrally located to both San Francisco and San Jose, providing a convenient option for locals requiring hair loss treatments. Residents of Redwood Shores, Burlingame, and Redwood City can receive hair restoration support as can those in San Mateo. Options include robotic FUE/FUT treatments, eyebrow transplants, and Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) protocols, all available for both men and women struggling with thinning hair. Interested persons can review the San Mateo informational page at http://siliconvalleyhairinstitute.com/directions-from-san-mateo-hair-transplant/.

EXPERTS MEET BAY AREA LOCALS HALFWAY FOR THE BEST HAIR TRANSPLANT OPTIONS

Here is the background for this release. The Bay Area peninsula can span fifty-five miles between San Jose and San Francisco. Locals frequently driving along the 101 freeway might expect to make the trip in one to two hours, depending on the traffic. It could be challenging to squeeze vital errands and doctor’s visits into a long commute. The added problem of locating a clinic in a large business park could be frustrating and make a person late for a scheduled appointment.

Men searching to manage baldness may expect to schedule a few visits to a clinic for consultation and FUE/FUT treatments. Women using Platelet Rich Plasma, or PRP, procedures might book several appointments at a clinic. Problems arise if a person needs to handle a long drive between work responsibilities and baffling directions.

For these reasons, Silicon Valley Hair Institute has announced a new blog post. Bay Area women or men in San Francisco or San Jose who are searching for professional hair transplant options can learn help is closer than expected. A professional hair restoration clinic serving the Bay Area is located halfway between San Jose and San Francisco in Foster City. Clinic offices are in plain view directly off of Hillsdale Blvd, and ample parking is available.

ABOUT SILICON VALLEY HAIR INSTITUTE

Women Entrepreneurs in the Aging Life Care Profession®

Helping family caregivers – who happen to be primarily women – find support, resources and peace of mind often helps them return to work or to focus on their work more easily without risk of having to leave a job or sideline their career track.

As a national association comprised mostly of women, the Aging Life Care Association® (ALCA) recently took a closer look at the entrepreneurial spirit fueling the Aging Life Care™ profession. A recent poll of ALCA female members reveals that 84% are small business owners. And of those women that do not own their own business, half work for a woman-owned small business.

And their business? Providing guidance and care management for older adults and others facing ongoing health challenges. These women entrepreneurs have made a business of helping and caring for others.

“Helping family caregivers – who happen to be primarily women – find support, resources and peace of mind often helps them return to work or to focus on their work more easily without risk of having to leave a job or sideline their career track,” says Kate Granigan, an ALCA member and practicing Aging Life Care Manager® in the greater Boston area.

Most of the women surveyed did not begin their Aging Life Care career with the end goal of owning a business, but rather came to entrepreneurship out of the drive to offer more for their aging or disabled clients.

“I come from a clinical background and had almost no business experience,” says Granigan. “But I realized if I weren’t confined by a pre-set system and could think outside the box, that I could make a greater impact on my client.”

Lisa Kaufman, a small business owner and Aging Life Care Professional from Atlanta, started her practice because she wanted to be an advocate for her clients. “The elderly, in my experience, seemed invisible to their providers and I knew I had to change that,” says Kaufman.

Both women discovered they are better employers because of the nature of their business. “Employees respond well to a supportive and flexible work environment,” says Granigan. “My staff – primarily women – have a fulfilling career along with the flexibility to raise their families, be active parents, as well as assist in caring for their own parents as well.”

Kaufman agrees. “The impact we are having on the ‘sandwich generation’ is vast. By more efficiently managing the care of their aging mother, we give those in the sandwich generation the ability to focus on their family and career without sacrificing quality care.”

While 50% of the women entrepreneurs of ALCA have been in business for more than ten years, a new generation of small business owners is on the rise with 20% of members in their first three years of business.

“It’s an exciting time for our profession – not only for the women business owners, but for all of our members with entrepreneurial spirit,” says Taney Hamill, ALCA’s Chief Executive Officer. “The ‘silver tsunami’ is here and our professionals are at the ready with the highest standards of care management. As an association we equip members with business skills and a unique network of mentorship and knowledge base that cannot be found anywhere else.”

ABOUT the Aging Life Care Association® (ALCA): ALCA was formed in 1985 to advance dignified care for older adults and their families in the United States. Aging Life Care Professionals® have extensive training and experience working with older adults, people with disabilities and families who need assistance with caregiving issues. They assist families in the search for a suitable nursing home placement or extended care if the need occurs. The practice of Aging Life Care™ and the role of care providers have captured a national spotlight, as generations of Baby Boomers age in the United States and abroad. Cieplak Dental Excellence Trains in Myofunctional Therapy to Help La Plata, MD Patients Experiencing Overbites or Difficulty Swallowing

La Plata, MD Dentist, Dr. Patrick Cieplak and His Staff at Cieplak Dental Excellence

Cieplak Dental Excellence Improves Overbite Treatment in La Plata, MD

We learned how to identify patients with myofunctional occlusion issues and ways to help them so that they can sleep, eat and speak better.

The team at Cieplak Dental Excellence recently attended an in-office training on myofunctional therapy in La Plata, MD. Orofacial myofunctional disorders (OMDs) are abnormal movement patterns of the face and mouth that can restrict how a patient eats, sleeps and speaks. This can include anything from difficulty swallowing and limited tongue movement to an overbite. Participation in this course is another element of the proactive approach that Dr. Patrick Cieplak’s team takes with continuing education. Everyone on this highly successful dental team, from the administration staff to Dr. Cieplak himself, takes any opportunity to enhance their skills and knowledge in an effort to better the patient experience.

Myofunctional disorders can affect anyone, from children and teenagers to adults. The condition interferes with the normal growth and development of jaw muscles and bones. Those affected typically experience difficulty swallowing or breathing and have trouble using their mouth for simple, everyday activities. Therapy for myofunctional disorder can help correct these concerns, allowing patients to live a more natural lifestyle. Common signs and symptoms of this disorder include:

  • Mouth breathing or trouble breathing through the nose
  • Limited tongue movements
  • Trouble eating
  • Overbite, underbite or other dental concerns
  • Constant tongue thrusting

“We learned how to identify patients with myofunctional occlusion issues and ways to help them so that they can sleep, eat and speak better,” says Sharon Garner, the Practice Administrator at Cieplak Dental Excellence. “This gives patients a better quality of life and improved health.”

The primary goal of myofunctional therapy is to create an environment that promotes normal function of the mouth and proper dental growth and development. After attending this in-office training, which included hands-on learning exercises, Dr. Cieplak and his team have a more in-depth understanding on the treatment and therapy required to help patients suffering from myofunctional disorder.

Cieplak Dental Excellence is a team of compassionate dental professionals who offer cosmetic dentistry, dental implant treatment, general dentistry and more. The practice provides cutting-edge technology and sedation dentistry to make treatments easier and safer for patients. Dr. Cieplak has served the La Plata, MD community for over three decades and strives to educate his patients, his staff, and himself at every opportunity.

Those interested in receiving myofunctional therapy for an overbite, difficulty swallowing, or other symptoms of OMD, or who want to learn more about the practice, are encouraged to contact Cieplak Dental Excellence at 301-609-9999 or visit http://www.patcieplakdds.com.

About the Practice
