Latest Workplace Mental Well-being Assessment from Infinit Care Calls on Business Leaders to Do Better

[ad_1]

“We have seen how impactful a technology platform approach can be to reduce barriers to access, lower costs of services and enable employees to access services. Infinit Care will continue to improve the use of data to create insights to create better outcomes for all employees”.

From August to September of 2022, Infinit Care, a tech-driven workplace mental well-being platform, conducted the largest cross-industry well-being assessment conducted in the Philippines. The survey covers 2,645 full-time employees across a variety of industries, demographics, and work types, including knowledge and service workers. The assessment was based on the 5-item World Health Organization Well-Being Index (WHO-5), which is one of the most widely used measures of current mental well-being. Participants of the survey self-reported on 5 statements pertaining to their general feelings of well-being in the two weeks prior to taking the assessment. A percentage score of 100 represents the best possible well-being state, and a score below 50 is seen to be indicative of reduced well-being.

Key insights from the assessment are as follows:

  • The average score was 54, close to the low-end of the spectrum.
  • 10% of employees are discovered to have serious well-being issues.
  • Females had significantly lower well-being scores (average score 51/100) than males (average score 62/100).
  • Younger employees aged 21-30 years old were observed to have lower scores (average 50/100), whilst older employees were observed to have relatively higher scores (average 60/100)
  • Scores were different across industry sectors with Finance, IT, Media & advertising and Utilities scoring the lowest in well-being.

“The data is an affirmation of what we see during our day-to-day interactions with users,” explained Shyne Mangulabnan, Head of Clinical Care for Infinit Care. “Employees are trying their best to perform at work while laden with mental health burdens that are going unchecked and unaddressed. This study highlights the importance of changing the traditional perspective of mental health being an individual responsibility to making sure it becomes a collective priority.”

Despite the great need, conventional employee assistance programs (EAPs) are massively underused, historically garnering an average utilization of less than 1%. Current workplace support systems seem to only scratch the surface of offering relevant, timely, and helpful solutions.

“Now, as we emerge from the pandemic and find a way forward, companies can no longer deny the prevalence and impact of mental well-being challenges at work and the crucial role employers play to improve outcomes – for each of their employees as well as their bottom line, ” said Infinit Care General Manager, Anne Ordoña. “Companies have to proactively tackle well-being and come up with interventions on three levels: individual, leader, and organizational levels. Business leaders have to strongly consider addressing the needs of everyone – of those in crisis, as well as those who are ‘not yet’ struggling / languishing. It is important that people feel equipped and supported to cope with challenges to their well-being in order to perform and continue being productive.”

“It is clear that the legacy mental health support processes have underserved employers, employees and their dependents,” explained Mark Mackenzie, CEO and Co-Founder of Infinit Care. “We have seen how impactful a technology platform approach can be to reduce barriers to access, lower costs of services and enabling employees to access services wherever and whenever they need them. We will continue to improve the use of data to create insights and work with our partners to create better outcomes for all employees”.

Morehouse School of Medicine’s “Danforth Dialogues” Podcast Focuses on Improving Health Care

[ad_1]

“With his background in business, academia and the public sector, Andrew brings incredible leadership insights that we can all learn from and utilize no matter what stage we are in our careers, whether we are just starting out or well along in our professions,” said Dr. Montgomery Rice.

Morehouse School of Medicine (MSM) today published the latest edition of its “Danforth Dialogues” podcast, featuring a conversation between MSM’s President and CEO Dr. Valerie Montgomery Rice and Andrew Witty, CEO of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH), in which the two leaders discussed a shared commitment to improving health care.

Dr. Montgomery Rice, who is also a member of the UnitedHealth Group board of directors, and Witty, who has been CEO of UnitedHealth Group since February 2021, discussed his unique career in both corporations and academia as well as in helping the World Health Organization (WHO) distribute COVID-19 vaccines, particularly in developing countries and lessons learned from the pandemic.

“With his background in business, academia and the public sector, Andrew brings incredible leadership insights that we can all learn from and utilize no matter what stage we are in our careers, whether we are just starting out or well along in our professions,” said Dr. Montgomery Rice.

Prior to joining UnitedHealth Group, Witty served as CEO of GlaxoSmithKline plc from 2008 to 2017, is former chancellor of the University of Nottingham, and was knighted in 2012 for services to the UK economy. Talking about his effort to help the WHO in distributing COVID-19 vaccines, Witty told Dr. Montgomery Rice he took the role because he believed his broad background “could help bring people together” in time of crisis.

“This was a remarkable effort to make sure vaccines were acquired by developing countries,” Witty said. “Within 60 to 90 days of availability, vaccines were being distributed in poorer countries, which was unprecedented.”

Witty and Dr. Montgomery Rice also discussed their shared commitment to improving health equity, particularly in underserved communities. Witty noted that early in his career, he took over an operation in South Africa, shortly before Nelson Mandela became head of the country. “That really changed my views on diversity, how to create a level playing field and trying to understand why people keep talking past each other,” he said.

Dr. Montgomery Rice noted Witty is a great example of leaders who step up in a crisis, stating, “When COVID-19 hit, Andrew did not hesitate. He stepped up. It wasn’t like he didn’t have a lot on his plate. He could have said he was too busy to get that involved. But great leaders are never too busy to get involved when it is all on the line.”

Launched earlier this year, Danforth Dialogues focuses on the leadership lessons from the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic and their broader implication for society. Named after the historic Danforth Chapel on the Morehouse College campus, the podcast series features a cross-section of guests and topics.

J. Flowers Health Institute Inspires Amid a Global Mental Health Crisis

[ad_1]

“My co-founder, Robbin Mooney; partner, Michael Beard; and I thought a night at the Happiest Place on Earth would be a great way to thank healthcare professionals.”

Mental Healthcare giant, J. Flowers Health Institute, held a private event at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park for healthcare professionals to enjoy a night of magic amid a global mental health crisis. It was all a part of one of the biggest mental health events of the year, the Global Exchange Conference and J. Flowers Health Institute was a proud Platinum Sponsor.

The Institute delivers concierge diagnostic evaluations and integrative treatment programs to adults and adolescents, particularly those with complex conditions. The founders of the luxurious treatment center covered the cost for healthcare professionals to enjoy a few hours of fun at the theme park, explaining that the last few years have been challenging for health providers.

“Post Covid, the industry has been slammed with treating droves of complicated and complex mental health cases, there’s been an opioid epidemic, and the workload has been immense,” said founder and celebrity psychotherapist James Flowers, Ph.D., LPC-S, CSAT. “My co-founder, Robbin Mooney; partner, Michael Beard; and I thought a night at the Happiest Place on Earth would be a great way to thank healthcare professionals.”

“Their endless hours of care and support to families combating substance use disorder and other mental health conditions deserves recognition,” said Beard.

“Tonight, we wanted providers to focus on fun, family, and fellowship,” said Mooney. “We’re all in this fight for global wellness together.”

With more than 25 years of experience in the pain and mental health industry, Flowers shared his professional insight with thousands of attendees at the largest mental health event of the year, the Global Exchange Conference, held at Walt Disney World Resort from November 1 -November 4.

Thousands from across the globe signed up to hear from renowned wellness experts like Deepak Chopra, Gabor Mate, and Marianne Williamson. Celebrity keynote speakers included Whoopi Goldberg and Rob Lowe.

The Global Exchange Conference is a four-day event of continuing educational presentations, workshops, and experiences. The event brings together professionals and organizations from Mental Health, Addiction Treatment, and Holistic Wellness. Next year’s event is slated for Nov 12-15.

Software Development Company Partners with Global Dietitian Network Startup

[ad_1]

FUSION OF IDEAS & culturd Partnership

“We take pride in maximizing budgets and developing custom, scalable software and mobile app solutions. Developing a mobile app for culturd gave our team some great insight into our diets and health,” Tyler Harmor, CTO, FUSION OF IDEAS

Software Development Company Partners with Global Dietitian Network Startup

How the launch of an American-made mobile app is crossing cultural borders.

A powerful new app has hit the market following extensive research into the complex interchange of culture, norms, and diet. The East Coast-based startup, culturd, partnered with West Coast software and mobile app development company FUSION OF IDEAS to build and design a user-friendly mobile app for Google Android and Apple Platforms.

While there are notable health and life expectancy disparities across various cultures, nutrition is a common driving force of optimal health. Culture is an essential factor in food choices, and food choices drive health outcomes. While dietitians are experts in food and nutrition, they are not food and nutrition experts in all cultures. And this is where culturd identified a significant market demand and opportunity. “There is no question that one’s diet can affect both short-and long-term health,” stated culturd co-founder Michael Haynes, “but few have made the connection between cultural-specific nutritional guidance and positive health outcomes.” In addition, research shows that healthcare providers with the same ethnic/racial background have better trust and rapport with their patients, which contributes to improved health outcomes. Haynes’s wife and culturd’s co-founder, Sue-Ellen, a Registered Dietitian with a 15-year track record of assisting people from diverse backgrounds, recognized the power of nutrition and its cultural connection. When asked about the primary audience for the culturd app, Haynes replied, “our app is for people of all ethnicities who are seeking to improve their health without sacrificing their culture. It also supports diverse dietitian entrepreneurs and is a powerful tool for other healthcare professionals and organizations seeking access to diverse nutrition expertise.”

The husband-and-wife duo, equipped with an extensive network of dietitians and a solid business plan, set sights on developing a digital healthcare app that would match dietitians and clients based on cultural alignment. However, choosing a software development partner to bring culturd’s plan to a global audience would be a challenging task. Like many seeking software and mobile app services, the startup needed to ensure their data and intellectual property would be secure. culturd also required a budget-friendly plan and the option for ongoing maintenance as their business grew.

Like culturd’s unique business offering, FUSION OF IDEAS is an outlier within the sea of custom software and mobile app development companies. “Our approach to development is vastly different, by design, of course,” stated the Company’s Chief Technology Officer, Tyler Harmor. And he elaborated, “we understand that our healthcare clients like culturd, have legitimate concerns regarding the safety and security of their data. And that is why our development services are performed 100% in the USA and in-house. We never outsource or offshore our development or design work.”

In the past 10+ years, FUSION OF IDEAS has developed custom software and mobile apps for startups like culturd and many large healthcare organizations around the country. “We take pride in maximizing budgets and developing custom, scalable software and mobile app solutions. Developing a mobile app for culturd gave our team some great insight into our diets and health,” said Harmor. While the Company’s US-centric business model addresses security concerns, FUSION’s Design-First approach sealed the deal for culturd. “We could see, touch, and test the functionality of our mobile app in the early stages of development, which saved us valuable time and money,” stated culturd Co-Founder Michael Haynes. In addition, there was a significant benefit to seeing our mobile app’s aesthetics and having the ability to make edits in the early development stage. “Our mission,” said Haynes, “is to provide a medium by which the dietetic field can provide more equitable and inclusive, targeted care. Our app and its embedded matching algorithm give users the highest chance of success and the opportunity to lead longer, healthier lives.”
