Family Source Consultants Announces New Exclusive Partnership with Israel-Based Manor Baby

FSC announced the new partnership amid a period of exponential growth for the agency within international markets. Currently, roughly a third of the agency’s client base lives outside of the United States, across 36 different countries. FSC’s new exclusive partnership will help the agency provide its “top-notch services” to even more intended parents in Israel, said Jessica Williams, the agency’s International Relations Manager.

“We are extremely pleased to collaborate with Manor Baby and LARC in this exciting new venture,” said Williams. “This partnership will allow us to help even more of Israel’s intended parents create families through our tailored surrogacy services.”

“As international companies, Family Source Consultants and LARC have experience with assisting clients outside the USA and help individuals and couples of all races, sexual orientations, and religious and ethnic backgrounds,” said Sharon Alon, CEO of Manor Baby. “Together, with our shared values and combined expertise, we can provide better services for our intended parents by pooling our resources, expertise and experience.”

To date, Manor Baby has assisted in the births of 5,500 babies via surrogacy and egg donation. This new partnership will allow the agency to provide Israeli intended parents with “an even wider range of services,” said Alon, along with “fresh perspectives and new ideas.”

The primary goal of the arrangement, according to Williams, is to provide a “holistic surrogacy experience” for Israeli-intended parents. This new, exclusive partnership with Manor Baby and LARC will allow all three agencies to provide a “seamless, positive experience” for Israeli intended parents.

LARC brings two-and-a-half decades of combined physician experience to the partnership, and is thus uniquely qualified to help support FSC in providing 360-degree surrogacy services for Manor Baby’s clients, said Williams.

“We could not be more excited about the opportunity to work with both Manor Baby and Family Source Consultants,” said Dr. Marc Kalan and Dr. Nurit Winkler in a joint statement. “Both Manor Baby and Family Source Consultants have a solid and well-established reputation in the field of egg donation and surrogacy, both locally and internationally.”

With its favored location in California, among the most desired locations to create a family via surrogacy, LARC has worked with patients in countries across the world, with a special connection to Israel. “We are proud of LARC’s outsized role in serving Israeli-intended parents with pride, compassion, and success,” Dr, Kalan and Dr. Winkler said.

All three partners stressed the importance of using the new venture to help all intended parents in Israel start or grow their families. The new partnership will support the journeys of anyone requiring surrogacy services to achieve their dream of parenthood, including those from the LGBTQ community, unmarried couples, and single individuals. “It’s wonderful to be working alongside companies with the same values and ethos as us,” Williams said.

The partners said they aimed to instill hope in Israeli intended parents through this project, emphasizing the essence of third-party reproduction as a source of optimism. “Surrogacy gives options to those facing challenges starting or growing their families through conventional methods,” Williams said. “We are thrilled to be able to offer this partnership as a source of inspiration for those dreaming of parenthood.”

The new partnership officially launched on January 8, 2024 with new intended parents welcomed into the program immediately. This date brings more than this partnership to recognize as Family Source Consultants is also celebrating 17 years of bringing dreams and miracles together!

Bobo’s Partners With Acorn, Purchases Carbon Removal Units, Supporting Sustainable Local Agroforestry Farming Practices Around The World

“At Bobo’s we’re committed to minimizing our environmental impact throughout our supply chain,” said TJ McIntyre, CEO of Bobo’s. “While we always strive to make decisions to improve the livelihoods of our people and the planet, our production process inevitably generates carbon emissions that we’re accountable for. Acorn’s revolutionary approach to carbon removal credits benefiting smallholder farmers across the globe made this a win-win. Acorn is the perfect partner to help us achieve carbon neutrality.”

While historically the carbon credit market has received its fair share of skepticism, Acorn is disrupting the traditional carbon offset model. The company has adopted an entirely new approach to helping responsible organizations, like Bobo’s, reach their sustainability goals leveraging the power of agroforestry. Agroforestry is the planting and integration of different species, such as fruit or nut bearing trees, and various crops on the field. Adopting agroforestry practices significantly benefits local farmers because it delivers more diverse crop yields, increased biodiversity and improved soil quality on their farms. It also helps local farmer’s businesses become more climate resilient, diversifies their income and improves food security within their local community. As the trees and plants mature and grow, they produce more and more yield while sequestering an increased amount of carbon.

“With Acorn we are delighted to partner with sustainable frontrunners like Bobo’s to support smallholder farmers globally. Their transition to carbon-capturing agroforestry has an incredible impact on various levels. Biodiversity increases, local welfare improves, and our planet cools down — everyone benefits,” said Jelmer van de Mortel, Head of Acorn

The amount of carbon captured by the trees and plants planted as part of Acorn’s agroforestry program is monitored with remote sensing techniques. Each ton of captured carbon represents one carbon removal unit (CRU). These CRU’s, which are traceable, certified and nature based, are sold to responsible companies like Bobo’s. But it’s the local farmers who benefit the most. With 80 percent of the sales revenue going directly to the farmers, it creates a substantial additional income stream and helps them adopt a more future-proof and sustainable way of farming. The remaining 20 percent is split evenly between Acorn and its local partners who help coordinate with the local farmers.

About Acorn

Acorn, part of Rabobank, supports smallholder farmers in developing countries transition to agroforestry. Together with local partners, we facilitate the funding and training needed by farmers to start their agroforestry transition. Transforming the sequestered CO2 through agroforestry into Carbon Removal Units (CRUs), we offer carbon credits to responsible corporates to help them reach their climate goals. The growth of the trees is measured with satellite imagery, AI and LiDAR, and certified by ICROA-accredited Plan Vivo.

With 80% of the sales revenue going directly to the farmers, it creates an additional income stream and helps them adopt a more climate-resilient way of farming that improves food security, biodiversity, and financial independence.

Islands Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation achieves Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards of Care accreditation

Until recently, there was no standardized benchmark for the quality of service in Mechanical Ventilation (MV) facilities. This posed potential risks to the well-being of patients and their families, resulting in problems such as lung-related injuries and dependence on MV. Meanwhile, the facilities struggled with inefficient resource utilization and elevated liability insurance rates.

Endorsed by the American Society of Respiratory Care (AARC), Enhanced Respiratory Care is the pioneering standard within the field. It’s developed on evidence-based principles and refined through extensive practice in Tennessee, where it has served as a ventilation standard since 2003. The standard includes advancements in weaning, patient care, and ventilator unit technology. It’s beneficial to both sides: patients and their families can expect quality-of-life improvements that make positive outcomes more likely, while facilities gain a competitive edge through accreditation and optimize their resource utilization.

Clyde Heflin MD, FACCP spoke about the need for recognized standards of care, “Previous to the Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards of Care, there were no established standards of care. Patients were sent to healthcare facilities based on other factors – bed availability, the smoothness of the marketing process, the look of the building, and so on. Enhanced Respiratory Care provides a standard of care that ensures that patients are receiving care based on an established standard and not on extraneous factors.” Dr. Heflin is also a member of the Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards Committee.

Michael Wong, JD (Executive Director, Physician-Patient Alliance for Health & Safety) emphasized the patient safety and quality of care that the State of Hawaii will now enjoy, saying, “When families send their loved ones and friends to a healthcare facility, they want to make sure that they are receiving the best care possible. For the State of Hawaii, Islands Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation is such a facility.”

The Enhanced Respiratory Care Standards of Care are supported and endorsed by the AARC. Carl Hinkson, MS, RRT-NPS, ACCS, FAARC (President, AARC) writes:

“The American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) would like to express our support and endorsement of your efforts in developing standards of care and facility accreditation for long-term mechanical ventilation in skilled nursing facilities. As the leading professional association for respiratory therapists in the United States, we recognize the importance of ensuring patients receive the highest quality care possible.”

Gene Gantt RRT, FAARC, whose team has developed and managed the Enhanced Respiratory Care program in Tennessee since 2013, said, “The Enhanced Respiratory Care Program is based on standards published by the American Association for Respiratory Care. Utilized in Tennessee, this Program has achieved liberation rates of 65% and has earned national recognition of excellence from the American College of Chest Physicians.”

LPA Collaborates With Hoag to Reimagine the Modern Healthcare Facility

“From the start, this process has been about working with Hoag to find new answers to the challenges facing modern healthcare,” says LPA Principal Dan Heinfeld. “Hoag is committed to breaking the paradigm to find better ways to serve patients.”

The new campus will include specialty care institutes for surgical innovation, cancer, and digestive and women’s health, in addition to dedicated urgent care services for cancer patients. Six new buildings will house 155 inpatient beds, eight operating rooms, 24 ICU beds, and 120,000 square feet of ambulatory facilities. Throughout the campus, outdoor spaces will provide environments for therapies and meditation, including numerous healing gardens programmed to create unique and meaningful experiences for patients and caregivers.

LPA’s integrated design team of architects, engineers, interior designers and landscape architects worked with Hoag to layer the buildings with outdoor space, maximizing opportunities for patients, providers and families to access the natural environment. Daylight and views of the lushly landscaped gardens are provided in all patient rooms, staff respite zones, family areas, and communal spaces. Patients will be able to receive a continuum of care for complex issues without having to leave the site.

Hoag broke ground last September on the new facility, which is named in recognition of the support of Diana and David Sun, who donated $50 million toward the project.

“LPA’s integrated team helped us to explore the full spectrum of patient care,” Hoag president and CEO Robert Braithwaite said. “The design honored the concept of adjacent specialty facilities that support the continuum of whole-person care.”

The design has already been “a major recruitment tool” for attracting top talent to Hoag, Braithwaite said.

The Sun Family Campus is designed to confront many of the challenges facing modern healthcare, focusing on a patient-centric approach that addresses diverse aspects of health and wellness to improve patient outcomes. Research has illustrated a direct link between the built and natural environments for quicker healing, healthier patients and reduced hospital stays.

“The connection to nature encourages the healing process and elevates mood,” says LPA Director of Healthcare Muhsin Lihony. “This simple truth altered the way we looked at the Hoag Irvine campus and guided our environmental approach.”

Hoag and LPA designers considered every aspect of the patient experience during the design process, from personalized care to the way the spaces make people feel. Biophilia and connections to nature are integrated throughout the campus. Travertine stone and warm wood toned panels provide a “high-touch” material palette to soften the “high-tech” aspects of Hoag’s cutting-edge healthcare capabilities.

“We want to counter-balance the high stress of high-tech environments, like being inside an MRI machine, with elements that address the patients’ basic needs,” says LPA Design Director Franco Brown. “Every building, every floor offers patients soothing ‘high-touch’ moments that bring them back to the familiar.”

With the construction of the first phase underway, the Sun Family Campus is expected to open to patients in 2026. The construction team includes program manager Jacobs, construction manager HB&A, and general contractor McCarthy Building Companies. KPFF and tk1sc are design consultants.

New Traliant Survey Reveals 1 in 4 Employees Have Witnessed Workplace Violence in the Last 5 Years

“Many employers are unaware – or are surprised to learn – the realities of what their employees experience when it comes to workplace safety and mental health,” said Mike Dahir, Traliant’s CEO. “This not only poses a risk to businesses from a reputational and legal standpoint, but also prevents employees from bringing their best selves to work. Today’s most successful employers will both understand and meet employees’ needs for safe workplaces.”

The report examines the key areas employers can better protect their business and how they need to address the realities of employee safety and well-being, especially as new threats and concerns continue to emerge. Additional key findings include:

Knowledge and preparedness are the best assets to overcoming safety concerns. While the majority (70%) of respondents have received training on workplace violence, this leaves nearly a third of employees who have not received training – a big gap employers need to close as soon as possible or risk exposing themselves and employees to potential consequences (e.g., reputational harm or costly litigation)

Employees need training on how to de-escalate and respond to potentially violent situations. An overwhelming majority (90%) of those surveyed believe other states should adopt similar policies to California’s new workplace violence prevention law that requires employers to adopt workplace violence prevention plans, maintain records of any threats or incidents of workplace violence, and provide effective training to workers on workplace violence.

Employees need safe channels for reporting their concerns. Only 44% of workers strongly agree that their employers promote a speak-up culture, where employees can report misconduct without fear of retaliation.

Employees need to trust their employers have their back when it comes to mental health. A strong majority (86%) of those surveyed either strongly or somewhat agree employers need to do more to address the mental health needs of employees in the workplace.

Michael Johnson, Chief Strategy Officer at Traliant, added, “There is much room for improvement in how employers approach workplace violence prevention. Especially as instances of violence in the workplace grow, preventing workplace violence is the responsibility of all organizations, regardless of the industry or work environment. By prioritizing workplace violence prevention training and taking specific actions to better address the realities of today’s employees, employers can better protect their business and secure a strong position in the workplace of tomorrow.”

For complete survey findings and details, read the full report here.
