Research From Newtriment Store Shows that Consumers View Supplements as a Viable Alternative to Antibiotics as Resistance Rates Soar

https://www.prweb.com/

Goodbye UTI is the First and Only Pharmacist Approved All-Natural Treatment for U.T.I.s.

“We want to let women know that there’s an alternative first line of treatment when faced with a U.T.I. that does not require antibiotics. In fact, we feel that antibiotics should be the last resort.”

Recent news of rising worldwide antibiotic resistance rates seen in New York Times and 60 Minutes raised alarms for women’s health in the U.S. With Urinary Tract Infections (U.T.I.s) being the most common bacterial infection, affecting 39 million women in the U.S. every year, ineffective antibiotic use against E. coli, the bacteria that most often contributes to these infections, puts nearly half of the female population at risk of kidney damage – and even death.

Following Matt Richtel’s article on the Antibiotic Crisis, the New York Times was flooded with comments from 600+ women talking about the implications of U.T.I.s, which can be deadly if untreated. Based on national research conducted in February 2019 among 880 women aged 18-70 years, 39 million women get U.T.I.s every year, and 12 million experience recurring infections within that same year. The number rises to over 43 million when including women 70+ years of age. Half of these older women are “asymptomatic,” so their U.T.I. remains undiagnosed for too long and they are either deemed to have dementia or end up in the hospital with life-threatening kidney infections.

As an alternative to antibiotic use, early clinical trials show that D-Mannose, the key ingredient in Goodbye UTI, may work better than antibiotics to relieve U.T.I. symptoms and protect the bladder against recurring infections. A recent study of 308 women with a history of recurrent U.T.I.s were evaluated. The group taking D-Mannose did the best in eliminating infection with virtually no side-effects from treatment. Today, two million women are taking supplements containing D-Mannose to support urinary tract health. Within this segment, Goodbye UTI is gaining popularity for its effectiveness in flushing E. coli to from the urethra and bladder. Its all-natural formulation offers an antibiotic alternative, dissolving immediately in water or coffee with no taste or viscosity. Just one spoonful a day has been found effective in preventing U.T.I.s and acting as a first line of home treatment when infections strike.

“The discussion around effective prevention and treatment needs to be broken open, said Goodbye UTI founder, Beth Allan. “We want to let women know that there’s an alternative first line of treatment when faced with a U.T.I. that does not require antibiotics. In fact, we feel that antibiotics should be the last resort.”

Goodbye UTI enables women to manage urinary tract health in just moments a day, vs. hours waiting for a doctor’s appointment and paying for a prescription after diagnosis. Please take a look at this video, which showcases how Goodbye UTI can tackle infection.

ABOUT: The Newtriment Store has introduced Goodbye UTI as the first and only pharmacist-formulated, all-natural supplement that promotes a healthy urinary tract, provides relief from the symptoms of active U.T.I.s and protects against recurrent infections. One spoonful (2 grams) equals 10 pounds of antioxidant-rich berries, without added sugar. Developed by Dr. Dustin De Panicis, a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD), CEO and founder of Catalyst Nutraceuticals, Goodbye UTI is distributed direct to consumers from its website, http://www.Goodbye-UTI.com, a part of the Newtriment Store.

New Publication from the University of Maryland Extension Exposes Sodium in Well Water as a Maryland Health Concern

https://www.prweb.com/

Have well water tested to determine levels of sodium.

Private wells are not regulated and it is up to the owner to have it tested, and treated if necessary.

Elevated levels of sodium in well water are being reported across the state of Maryland, and for residents with high blood pressure, drinking the recommended daily amount of water could increase the amount of sodium consumed, and therefore affect their health, say University of Maryland Extension researchers.

A new UMd Extension publication, “Sodium in Your Well Water: A Health Concern,” highlights the rising salinity levels in Maryland groundwater and aquifers, and provides advice for understanding sodium levels in tap water from private well systems.

“We designed this publication to increase awareness that well water may be a source of sodium to consider, especially for people who are on a low sodium diet,” said Dr. Andrew Lazur, State Extension Specialist in water quality and lead author on the paper. ”It also reminds well owners to test their water and include sodium in the tests.”

The publication provides a variety of resources for understanding salinity levels in your diet, including a sodium calculator to determine the amount of sodium in your diet from water, as well as levels in your well water.

The 2015-2020 Dietary Guidelines for Americans advises limiting daily intake of sodium to 2,300 mg per day according to the paper, written in conjunction with Extension Specialists Daphne Pee and Beverly Jackey.

“The American Heart Association recommends limiting sodium intake to 2,300 milligrams (mgs) a day, and is moving toward an ideal limit of 1,500 mgs per day for most adults,” said Jackey, a Registered Dietitian and Family and Consumer Sciences Educator in Cecil, Kent and Queen Anne’s Counties. “Adults with high blood pressure should limit their intake to 1,500 mg per day.”

“Sodium is the sixth most abundant element on earth and is an important component of the body, with a certain level being essential for good health. It is recommended that adults consume a minimum of 500 milligrams (mg) per day from food and water,” Lazur said. “However, it has been shown that most adult Americans consume 3,000 to 5,000 mg per day, averaging 3,400 mg for the U.S. population.”

While municipal water systems are monitored by the Environmental Protection Agency, which has set guidelines on the amount of sodium allowable, well water quality is not regulated and homeowners must determine that information for their own location. “Municipal water supply customers receive an annual summary of their water quality and can get sodium information from the utility,” said Lazur. “Private wells are not regulated and it is up to the owner to have it tested, and treated if necessary.”

A Maryland Geological Survey study found that the average sodium level in homes using well water on Maryland’s coastal plain (the region of Maryland east of I-95), was 92.6 mg/liter. According to Lazur’s research, this means that if you follow a low-sodium diet and drink the recommended amount of water per day, you would consume 15 percent of your total daily sodium intake just through your drinking water.

However, water quality varies from well to well due to the soils and geology where the groundwater is located, says Lazur, and is affected by natural minerals, contaminants, and is also impacted by municipal activities such as road salt distribution to prevent ice buildup during winter months. Using a water softener to treat for iron or prevent scaling of pipes and fixtures in systems with hard water can add sodium to drinking water as well, he said. According to the Maryland Geological Survey, average levels of sodium are also increasing due to the pumping of aquifers, which can cause brackish or salt water to infiltrate an aquifer, as well as sea-level rise associated with climate change, which is a growing concern related to saltwater intrusion into fresh water systems.

While purchasing bottled water or faucet and refrigerator filters offered in standard retail stores seems like a viable option, Lazur warns that some point-of-use faucet filters do not remove sodium content, and bottled water could have sodium depending on its source. “A study in 2001 showed bottled spring water ranged from 1-15 mg/liter; and 36 to 1,095 mg/liter for bottled mineral water. Some companies may add salt to enhance taste as with mineral waters,” Lazur said.

“Consumers can find the amount of sodium in various types of bottled water by looking at the Nutrition Facts Panel on the label,” said Jackey. “If sodium is added to the water, it will also appear in the ingredient list”.

More reliable ways to remove sodium from your tap water include using a reverse osmosis filter for the faucet you use for drinking and cooking water, and if you have a water softener, use potassium chloride as opposed to sodium chloride and bypass the cold water supply.

Read the full publication, “Sodium in Your Well Water: A Health Concern,” or access more information about private wells and drinking water from the University of Maryland Extension at extension.umd.edu/well-and-septic. To learn more about tracking sodium intake through diet, Jackey recommends the American Heart Association’s free downloadable sodium tracker.

Loma Linda University Health’s Whole Child Assessment Found to Effectively Screen Children for Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)

If we know that, we can prevent these poor outcomes either by reducing exposure to the adversity, or if its already occurred, we can offer support to the family and child so that outcomes improve.

New research demonstrates that using the Whole Child Assessment(WCA), which was developed at Loma Linda University Health, improves identification of child-adverse childhood experiences (Child-ACEs) during a routine well-child doctor visit versus not using a screening tool.

Ariane Marie-Mitchell, MD, PhD, MPH, lead author of the study and a preventive medicine physician at Loma Linda University Health, said ACEs are a growing public health issue.

“There is strong literature showing that early Child-ACEs affect neurological development and can cause chronic stress in the body and an increased risk for many medical problems, including mental health issues and substance abuse, as they get older,” Marie-Mitchell said. “If we know that, we can prevent these poor outcomes either by reducing exposure to the adversity, or if its already occurred, we can offer support to the family and child so that outcomes improve.”

Pediatricians are encouraged to screen for ACEs, such as physical and sexual abuse, neglect, and household dysfunction such as parental separation, substance abuse, mental illness, domestic violence and incarceration. ACEs, however, can be difficult to bring up because of their sensitive nature.

The study was published last month in the peer-reviewed journal Global Pediatric Health.

The WCA is a consolidated questionnaire a parent or caregiver of a child age 0-11 years old completes during a well-child visit with their doctor that incorporates questions about exposure to and risk of ACEs. The WCA was approved by the state of California in 2016 and has been found to have no negative impact on the length of a doctor’s visit.

This study developed and implemented a tool to specifically screen for childhood ACEs at a pediatric resident clinic in Southern California. Development of the tool, which was later named the Whole Child Assessment, was based on an iterative process that incorporated triangulation of references, patient data and physician feedback.

Use of the WCA offers the opportunity to identify exposure to Child-ACEs, as well as opportunities to prevent exposure to Child-ACEs by counseling families on self-care and parenting, and connecting families to supportive resources. This is key for capitalizing on the opportunity within pediatric practice to both prevent and reduce the impact of Child-ACEs.

Marie-Mitchell and her team reviewed 1,100 patient charts from well-child visits utilizing the WCA over the course of the approximately two-year study. They found that the use of the form increased the identification of multiple Child-ACEs compared with no screening. Additionally, researchers discovered that reports of multiple ACEs increased with age. The results suggest that use of the WCA provides an acceptable and feasible way to screen for Child-ACEs during routine pediatric practice.

Marie-Mitchell said the WCA is one of the first screening tools that has data to validate that it can indeed identify high-risk families.

At Loma Linda University Health, caregivers are dedicated to whole person care. “This assessment integrates the assessment of lifestyle and other risk factors that need to be addressed during well-child care. This reduces the burden of multiple questionnaires for families and providers,” Marie-Mitchell said. “In addition, pediatricians can play a key role in mitigating the impact of Child-ACEs by counseling families on healthy lifestyle habits, which are key components for addressing toxic stress. Because the WCA includes assessment of nutrition, exercise and sleep, the tool itself provides information to guide pediatricians in formulating a treatment plan with families.”

Introducing the NEW Z Wave Q from Zimmer MedizinSystems

Introducing the NEW Z Wave Q from Zimmer MedizinSystems - A New (and Quieter) Dimension in Radial Pulse Technology

Introducing the NEW Z Wave Q from Zimmer MedizinSystems – A New (and Quieter) Dimension in Radial Pulse Technology

Practitioners have been aware, and studies have shown for years, the benefits of Z Wave’s acoustic sound therapy… The appeal of the Z Wave Q over the Z Wave Pro generation, is the device’s quieter operation. After all, the ‘Q’ in the device’s name is for ‘Quiet’.

Zimmer MedizinSystems announces the launch of the new Z Wave Q, the next generation, reengineered acoustic shockwave device that revolutionizes Radial Pulse Technology.

The company’s progressive Z Wave Q device makes its debut on the medical aesthetics market. Like the rest of the Z Wave family of non-invasive devices, the Z Wave Q is FDA cleared for the temporary reduction of the appearance of cellulite, the temporary increase in local blood circulation and to relieve minor muscle aches and pains. Z Wave Q may also be used as an adjunct in Cryolipolysis™ (CoolSculpting™) and other body contouring treatments for enhanced results. Unlike any similar devices, the Z Wave Q utilizes a new type of water-cooled generator. This enables the device to operate with a 50% softer sound than its predecessor, the acclaimed Z Wave Pro, while providing equally effective results. In fact, Zimmer touts the Z Wave Q as the “quietest shockwave device on the market”.

Michael Busic, Director of Zimmer USA’s Z Wave Division, explained the reason for Z Wave Q’s muted sound and uniquely effective treatment capabilities. “Z Wave Q is the only ESWT system with water cooling,” he said. “This brings several benefits. Most notably, a significantly quieter, more pleasant experience for the patient, the operator, and the facility. The water cooling also brings convenience to the practitioner with its ability to perform longer procedures with a single hand piece. Our water-cooled hand pieces will not overheat. You do not have to alternate hand pieces during longer procedures or throughout the day.”

Busic stressed that the device retains the original Z Wave’s comfortable treatment sensation. “Zimmer has always used electromagnetic technology, unlike most other shockwave devices on the market, which use pneumatic technology. Sir Isaac Newton’s Second Law of Motion states that F=ma. Our electromagnetic technology uses a projectile that has a 5 times greater mass than pneumatic (or compressed air) technology. This makes for equal Force using 5 times less acceleration. Less acceleration means a softer, more comfortable pulse on the surface of the patient’s skin. That is what is behind Zimmer’s ‘Soft Shot Technology’. Some who have experienced competitive devices have sensed that Zimmer’s devices are more comfortable for the patient. For procedures that have commonly required topical anesthesia with other devices, Zimmer users are finding that it is not necessary. Our Soft Shot Technology is the reason for that.”

Interest in the new device has been strong, Busic disclosed. His team has been fielding inquiry calls not only from new customers, but also from existing Z Wave users. The reason is simple, he says, that so many doctor’s offices and medspas are showing interest in the upgrade. While practitioners have always enjoyed the device’s effectiveness, the quieter ambient sound of the Z Wave Q is more suitable for the aesthetic environment. Busic commented, “Practitioners have been aware, and studies have shown for years, the benefits of Z Wave’s acoustic sound therapy… The appeal of the Z Wave Q over the Z Wave Pro generation, is the device’s quieter operation. After all, the ‘Q’ in the device’s name is for ‘Quiet’.”

You may watch Busic’s short video introduction to the Z Wave Q here.

About Zimmer Z Wave Q

Radial Pulse Technology was never this quiet – and felt this good! The new Z Wave Q system is equipped with an innovative water-cooled generator ensuring high efficiency and durability. The new ergonomic hand piece with “shock absorber” offers the industry’s quietest operation, the highest level of safety, and maximum comfort to the patient. The Zimmer Z Wave Q transmits powerful sound waves into tissues. The energy then spreads out radially to enhance the treatment effect (Radial Pulse Therapy). The body responds to these sound waves with enhanced metabolic activity in the form of lymphatic drainage and increased blood flow. The result is an improvement in the appearance of cellulite and for other body contouring procedures, improved results with an easier recovery. For more information about the Z Wave Q, you may visit a web overview of the product. You may also contact Zimmer MedizinSystems any time by phone or email.

The Beauty of Setria® – Surge in Wellness-Infused Beauty Creates New Space for Leading Ingredient Supplement Brand Setria® Glutathione

News Image

Wrapping up a week dedicated to emerging Indie beauty trends, International Beauty Expert Corinne Morley spoke at a press luncheon at The Press Lounge in New York City, covering the booming interest in wellness-infused beauty that has taken off industry-wide.

Morley, who has extensive experience in the beauty industry, including holding impressive roles at Estée Lauder and Trilogy Natural Skincare, spoke to the modern meaning of ‘beauty from within’ – noting that while this is not a new concept, consumers and retailers alike, including Sephora, Nordstrom and Anthropologie, are beginning to blur the lines between health supplements and traditional beauty products on shelves.

“Beauty is much more than skin-deep, it’s a reflection of how we’re feeling,” explains Morley, “Everything that we do externally and internally affects the outward appearance of our skin. It’s not just about how we treat the outer surface of our skin, it’s also a reflection of what’s going on inside – from lack of sleep, to stress, from diet, to too much sun exposure, from environmental toxins to what skincare products we choose to use, everything has an impact.”

Morley notes that one of the skin’s biggest enemies is “the environment that we live in,” informing the key beauty media and influencers in attendance that “without a doubt” free radicals, found in our everyday environment, are “one of the most negative influences on how our skin looks and behaves.”

Free radicals are unstable molecules that cause damage to DNA in cells, disrupting normal cell function, while also having the power to deteriorate the skin’s structural support by decreasing its suppleness and elasticity. While free radicals are in our environment every day and are part of the natural aging process, Morley explains that “certain things actually stimulate free radical activity, such as air pollution, UV radiation, smoking, alcohol and poor nutrition, so we want to calm the free radical activity…because we know how damaging [it] can be to our health, wellness, and how our skin is going to age.”

“Luckily,” continues Morley, “there is an antidote – antioxidants. Antioxidants are powerfully combative toward free radicals, because they help neutralize them.”

Glutathione, known as the body’s ‘master antioxidant,’ is found, to varying degrees, in all cells, tissues, body fluids and organ systems in the body. Glutathione can neutralize potentially harmful free radicals, eliminate toxins, chemicals and potential carcinogens absorbed in the body, and can reactivate other antioxidants that are important for skin, hair and nail health like Vitamin E. However, glutathione levels may decrease due to various factors such as age, diet, UV exposure, health conditions, weight, medications, and poor lifestyle habits. Supplementing with glutathione and incorporating glutathione-rich foods into your diet may help raise glutathione levels in the body*. Setria® Glutathione, a patented form of Glutathione, is a branded ingredient that has been clinically researched to help increase the body’s stores of glutathione, and can help support immunity, detoxification, and skin brightening*.

‘Wellness and beauty go hand-in-hand, and research is the cornerstone of both,” states Morley, “Setria® Glutathione is great because now, customers are really demanding quality, research-backed ingredients. This ingredient, found in many supplement products for beauty, detox and recovery, such as BeautifulAlly by Bluebonnet, Genius Beauty by The Genius Brand, Balance by Alaninu, Bright-Eyed Mornings by Zaca, and Setria L-Glutathione Reduced by Healthy Origins, is actually research backed. It’s a pure glutathione, it’s allergy-free, and is suited for everyone to be taking on a regular basis. It’s processed through a fermentation process, which means it doesn’t have any added chemicals – it’s a more natural process.”

As interest in wellness-infused beauty continues to thrive amongst the beauty industry, Kyowa Hakko, manufacturers of Setria® Glutathione, are thrilled to be at the forefront of conversations.
