Nubundle Partners with TASC to Reduce the Cost of Fertility Treatments with Customizable Fertility Benefits Solutions

We’re proud to help make affording fertility treatments a reality for the many people who would not be able to without the support of their employer and fertility benefits.

Nubundle, a fertility services and support platform that provides an affordable way for companies of all sizes to help their employees navigate the journey to parenthood, today announced its partnership with TASC (Total Administrative Services Corporation), a leading benefits administrator. The partnership expands Nubundle’s fertility benefits solutions, giving employers the opportunity to provide full or partial insurance to employees for costs related to fertility procedures, medications, and related services.

Nubundle’s employer-sponsored subsidy plans are highly customizable, giving companies (from startups to multinational corporations) the ability to choose coverage amounts and other plan features based on the needs of each individual employer and its employees. Additionally, Nubundle members have access to a full suite of voluntary offerings including a family planning concierge, preferred access and pricing at top clinics, lower-priced medications, and additional “just in time” payment options.

“Since Nubundle launched a year ago we’ve seen first-hand how impactful financial and emotional support is for people of all genders, races, ages, and sexual orientations trying to grow their families. Less than 20% of fertility procedures are covered by insurance in the U.S.,” said John Ciasulli, CEO and co-founder at Nubundle. “We’re proud to help make affording fertility treatments a reality for the many people who would not be able to without the support of their employer and fertility benefits.”

The cost of fertility treatments, which range from oral medications to more involved procedures, such as in-vitro fertilization (IVF), are prohibitively expensive. These procedures can cost more than $20,000 out of pocket, an amount four times an average American couple under 35 has in their savings account. Additionally, more women are having children later in life than prior generations, instead choosing to focus on growing their careers and turn to fertility preservation treatments, like egg freezing.

“TASC is proud to partner with Nubundle to make fertility treatments more accessible,” said Cliff Mason, President of TASC. “We believe fertility and family planning benefits are an essential part of employee wellness plans, and Nubundle’s product aligns with our mission to improve the health, wealth and well-being of the community.”

In addition to the partnership with TASC, Nubundle continues to hit new milestones. The platform recently doubled its member count after raising $1.5M in funding in late 2018 and continues to add new fertility clinic partners across the country as it expands to additional markets.

Heartly House Declares 2019’s “Walk A Mile/Rock the 40th” Event a Success

News Image

On September 21, 2019, Heartly House held a new, expanded version of their annual “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event in Downtown Frederick. Called Rock the 40th, this year’s event commemorated the organization’s 40 years of service to victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking and child abuse in our community— helping to raise awareness of issues that have stayed in the dark for far too long.

In addition to the 10th annual “Walk a Mile” event, Rock the 40th included food, craft beer, and a concert at the Carroll Creek Amphitheatre. With more than 200 participants, a band, two solo artists, four food vendors, two breweries and more than 30 sponsors participating, Rock the 40th was declared a resounding success.

The title of Top Fundraiser Group was awarded to the Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ, and Doug Tinder earned Individual Top Fundraiser honors. In addition to the funds that were raised, The Ausherman Family Foundation announced that it will be matching all donations up to $40,000 through the end of the year.

Thanks to the amazing support of the community, these contributions ensure that victims and survivors will continue to receive the support they need. Heartly House would like to thank all 2019 participants and looks forward to seeing everyone at next year’s event.

About Heartly House

Heartly House is the only organization in Frederick County, MD offering comprehensive support to victims and survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence, human trafficking, and child abuse. Pigeon Epidemic for Las Vegas Pest Control Companies

Fortified Pest Control

Fortified Pest Management

Not only are pigeons a nuisance to the average resident, but they also carry harmful bacteria that can cause severe health complications.

Fortified Pest Management is tackling the pigeon epidemic across the Las Vegas Valley. Armed with the latest technology and materials they are taking on this urban pest. Fortified Pest Management specializes in pigeon abatement, repellents, as well as pigeon removal. They perform these actions for their customers on top of also cleaning and sanitizing the areas where these unwanted guests have taken up residence.

Not only are pigeons a nuisance to the average resident, but they also carry harmful bacteria that can cause severe health complications. The pigeon on average drops their feces 40-50 times a day per bird. Their droppings are extremely acidic and will damage paint on cars, stucco and roof tops.

The pigeons’ nesting materials are a known fire hazard as well. The longer pigeons are in a location the stronger their bond and the harder and more costly they are to remove. You have to act immediately.

Home owners and tenants should take action as soon as they become aware of their pigeon problem. The longer you wait, the longer this pest is left untreated and the cost and effort needed to remedy the problem will exponentially increase.

If you see a nest, and you regularly see pigeon droppings, call a pest control company as soon as you can. The sooner the nest is removed, the sooner the pigeon relocates it’s home to another place.

Pigeons aren’t only a problem to residential areas though, as they commonly nest on the rooftops of many large size commercial buildings. They also nest in industrial areas like factories and power plants. Dealing with pigeons in these types of areas calls for very different methods and strategies to keeping them away both short and long term.

At commercial and industrial properties, the use of netting, shock track and deterrents is commonly used. As well as the occasional baiting and trapping at a large scale.

Residential pigeon problems are dealt with using screening, spiking and post and tension wire. Although sometimes when the problem gets out of hand and was left untouched for too long, some commercial pest control techniques are crossed over for use at a home or community.

Fortified Pest Management demands greatness, therefore they are continually training their technicians, updating their knowledge and staying ahead of this ever increasing issue. Fortified has a third party come out to update them on new methods and technology that’s being used in the industry.

FPM also holds internal training sessions to ensure the pest control technicians are up to speed with their current methods as to increasing productivity.

Fortified Pest Management has been providing pest control services in Las Vegas for years. With a specialized team for pigeon control/removal, you can’t go wrong with giving them a call. They come highly recommended and are true experts in the field of pest management, when you have a pigeon problem, reach out to them for a quote directly on their website:

Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) Opens New Satellite Office in Westminster, MD, Making Access to Highly Specialized Fertility Care More Convenient for Carroll County Patients

https://www.prweb.com/

Dr. Stephanie Beall

SGF offers unique financial programs such as its Shared Risk 100% Refund Program, which guarantees patients take home a baby or receive 100% refund, and income-based Shared Help Program, among other discount programs, that aim to make treatment affordable to all.

Shady Grove Fertility (SGF) announced today the opening of its newest fertility center location in Westminster, MD, conveniently located off Route 70 in Carroll County.

With the opening of its newest satellite location, the Westminster office now joins SGF’s five full-service Maryland locations and two satellite locations throughout the Baltimore metropolitan area.

The SGF Westminster Fertility Center will offer new patient and follow-up appointments, egg freezing consultations, and oncofertility consultations with board-certified reproductive endocrinologist, Stephanie Beall, M.D., Ph.D.

For fertility and ovarian reserve testing and diagnosis, semen analysis, hysterosalpingogram (HSG), low-tech fertility options such as ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), donor egg, sperm, or embryo treatment, genetic screening and testing, gestational carrier, egg freezing, fertility preservation for patients with cancer, or LGBTQ family building, patients have the option to visit SGF’s Towson, MD location.

The Westminster office is centrally located at 844 Washington Road, in Carroll County with convenient access to Route 70 and offers patients free parking.

“I see so many patients that travel from Carroll County to the Towson office for their fertility care. I am so proud to be able to bring our fertility care closer to them where they live and work,” explains Dr. Beall. “Expanding our services is going to offer more patient access to the care they need while hopefully decreasing the stress and time it can take for patients to access their care,” adds Beall.

Many Marylanders have an advantage over residents of other states when it comes to infertility insurance legislation, known as the Maryland Mandate, as Maryland was the first state in the nation to enact infertility insurance legislation and is now the third state that also covers fertility preservation prior to cancer treatment. Over 90 percent of SGF patients with insurance have coverage for their initial consult, and at least 70 percent have some level of coverage for treatment.

For those without adequate insurance coverage, SGF offers unique financial programs such as its Shared Risk 100% Refund Program, which guarantees patients take home a baby or receive 100% refund, and income-based Shared Help Program, among other discount programs, that aim to make treatment affordable to all.

Eighty-two percent of SGF’s Shared Risk participants who are using their own eggs take home a baby, and 85 percent of those who are using a donor egg take home a baby. The program offers up to six in vitro fertilization (IVF) or donor egg cycles and any subsequent frozen embryo transfers (FETs) for a flat amount. In the event the attempts are unsuccessful, or the patient chooses to withdraw at any time, a full refund is given*.

Following a patient’s initial physician consultation, the SGF financial team assists in evaluating individual benefits and programs to find patients the best option. SGF’s financial counselors explain any out-of-pocket expenses, limits, deductibles, and pre-authorizations in order to help maximize the insurance benefits available.

“Shady Grove Fertility was the third reproductive clinic my husband and I went to, and we desperately wish it had been the first! Dr. Beall was fantastic – always made herself available for questions and concerns and never hesitated to give us her honest opinion. She gave us all the available options, the likely success of each, and allowed my husband and me time to process and decide. We never felt pressured and always felt as though we were in great hands. We would recommend Dr. Beall again and again,” shared a recent Dr. Beall patient.

Dr. Beall earned her medical degree and doctorate in 2006 from Brown University before completing her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. Dr. Beall then went on to complete her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in Bethesda, MD. Dr. Beall has been widely recognized for her integral role in helping to pass the Maryland fertility preservation bill that assists patients with cancer in protecting their reproductive ability beyond cancer treatment.

To schedule an appointment with SGF reproductive endocrinologist, Dr. Stephanie Beall, or any other SGF specialist, please call the SGF New Patient Center at 1-888-761-1967 or submit this brief form.

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) supports the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force Report

As efforts to combat the ongoing opioid crisis in the United States increase, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force recently released its final Report and Resource Kit.

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) supports the Task Force’s Report, which identifies gaps and inconsistencies in pain-management treatment practices and establishes best practices for pain management.

The Report notes that chronic pain is a complex and stigmatized condition that affects 50 million adults in the United States, costing the nation between $560 – $635 billion annually.

To improve the lives of those suffering from pain, the Task Force’s recommendations include five broad treatment approaches: 1) Medication; 2) Restorative Therapies; 3) Interventional Procedures; 4) Behavioral Health Approaches; and 5) Complementary and Integrative Health. The Report discusses and endorses historically ignored, yet effective therapies, such as acupuncture, yoga, massage, and relaxation techniques. The Task Force Report emphasizes:

  • Individualized, patient-centered care fostering a therapeutic alliance between the patient and clinician.
  • Multidisciplinary approaches using treatment modalities and the biopsychosocial model to pain care.
  • Consideration of special patient populations, as well as comorbid conditions that can accompany complex pain conditions.

The philosophical and cultural shift to address chronic and acute pain through acupuncture and its adjunctive therapeutic approaches continues to gain momentum. The Report cites the CDC’s (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain (2016), which recommends non-pharmacological treatments, such as acupuncture, and encourages education, enhanced access to care, and shared decision-making between patients and practitioners.

“As outlined in our June 26, 2018 letter to the HHS Pain Management Best Practices Inter-Agency Task Force, the NCCAOM is pleased that the Task Force has included non-pharmaceutical interventions such as acupuncture for the treatment of addiction and pain in the recently released final Report and Resource Kit”, stated Afua Bromley, NCCAOM Board Chair.

It will take time to undo the damage from the overreliance of opioids, but the Task Force Report is the roadmap to a safer, more functional, and less painful future.

About the NCCAOM

The National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM)® is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization established in 1982. NCCAOM is the only national organization that validates entry-level competency in the practice of acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) through professional certification. 5 Lifestyle Hacks To Enhance Posttraumatic Personal Growth

“After returning from the battlefield-the tip of the spear- a warrior is often confused, opening mental pathways in which anxiety, guilt, low self-esteem, and drug venerability may enter the mindspace” says CAPT Kevin Smith, author of Critical Thinking Essentials, “But this is not inevitable”.

Hundreds of thousands of veterans are battling post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and depression. Suicide in the veteran community remains at an epidemic level, 22 per day. After combat deployments, many service members experience flashbacks and a deep survivor’s guilt. But like many people who have survived trauma, many find positive change as well—a new appreciation for life, a newfound sense of personal strength and a new focus on helping others. (Source: themeditatingvet)

Why are some people more resilient than others—and can it be taught?

“Meditation, yoga, and breathwork have offered relief and healing I never could have imagined, both for me and for the other veterans I’ve worked with,” says Tom Voss is the co-author of the Where War Ends: A Combat Veteran’s 2,700-Mile Journey to Heal ― Recovering from PTSD and Moral Injury through Meditation (https://www.themeditatingvet.com/)

“Individuals who have experienced trauma must have stress-reducing activities scheduled into their calendar on a regular basis,” says Carter. “Meditation, deep-breathing techniques, quiet time in nature, a creative activity like painting or writing, reading a book, or listening to calming music are all excellent ways to soothe yourself and get someone on their road to recovery,” says Dr. Rob Carter III, author of The Morning Mind: Use Your Brain to Master Your Day and Supercharge Your Life (http://www.themorningmind.com)

“After returning from the battlefield-the tip of the spear- a warrior is often confused, opening mental pathways in which anxiety, guilt, low self-esteem, and drug venerability may enter the mindspace” says CAPT Kevin Smith, author of Critical Thinking Essentials, “But this is not inevitable”

5 Natural Ways to Hack into Post-Traumatic Growth and make them stick:

1. Peer Support. ”Peer support provides you with opportunities to share your experiences and more rapidly install the new behavior you want,” says Voss.

“The most important thing in the life of a fellow warrior is not what we think, but How we think,” says Smith, “knowing this we realize that thinking need not be a random process but can be structured and organized in which a frame of reference-that is a Mental Model-is established that promotes well-being.”

2. Exercise. “One of the first steps in overcoming post-traumatic stress is engaging in regular physical activity,” says Voss “a great way to start every day is with light exercise in the morning is a great way to get on a pathway of post-traumatic growth.”

3. Meditation. “If you struggle to connect with the emotions you want to create, meditation is an excellent tool to reconnect your mind and body,” says Voss. Carter says, “Meditation can help you can piggyback old positive experiences onto new desired ones to maximize success,”

4. Nature Immersion. “Deep nature immersion is excellent medicine for the madness of modern life,” says Voss “cultivating awareness of nature will lead you back to a simpler and more organic way of relating to life that reveals new and exciting layers of your personality.” Carter says, “Being in nature helps produce a comfort zone for our lizard brain.” Smith says, “It wants to feel good, and nature immersion helps to reduce anxiety and silence the Lizard’s fear.”

5. Mindful Lifestyle. “A mindful lifestyle simply means being present in the moment,” says Carter “simply acknowledging and being aware at all times of everything.” Smith, says “Critical thinking and decision making requires being present and being attentive to all the things that you have”. Carter says, “Stressors consume the brain’s energy, preventing other functions, and create irrational, illogical thought.”
