Get rid of ingrown hair and pigmentation with Laser Hair Removal at Pulse Light Clinic

REDUCTION OF INGROWN HAIRS

Ingrown hairs can be a frustrating side effect of hair removal for many people, both men and women. The purpose of removing the hair is usually to feel more comfortable, have smoother skin and look nicer; unfortunately uncomfortable ingrown hairs can ruin that for us.

What are Ingrown Hairs?

Ingrown hair is a condition wherein the hair curls back or grows sideways into the skin. It may or may not be accompanied by an infection of the hair follicle or razor bumps. They most commonly appear in areas of the skin that have been waxed or shaved such as the legs or pubic area but they can appear anywhere.

What Causes Ingrown Hair?

The condition is most common for those with coarse or curly hair though it is not specialised to them. The most common cause for ingrown hairs is shaving, the second is waxing, but in fact anything which causes the hair to be broken off unevenly with a sharp tip can cause them, even tight clothing can cause it.

How to get rid of Ingrown hairs ?

Laser hair removal is the deliberate removal of body hair & ingrown hair removal using the technology of laser. Hair generally grows all over the human body, some fine and barely noticeable, with other areas having thicker, more prominent hair.

REDUCTION OF PIGMENTATION

Pigmentation can be more common for darker skin types, due to shaving and waxing. With Gentle Max Pro & ND YAG laser we can safely and effectively target these hair follicles and clients see a major reduction in pigmentation in the bikini area, underarms, and face.

What is pigmentation?

The cause of pigmentation often varies and can affect individuals in certain ethnic groups more than others. Dark spots can appear on the skin after shaving for a number of reasons, including skin irritations, a buildup of dead skin cells and the appearance of sub-surface hair. In my own case, I’ve had a spot appear after a skin tag was removed on my face, and I had a spot from splattering kitchen grease…but that’s not what we’re talking about here. The best way to avoid pigmentation from shaving is to get laser hair removal

Pulse Light Clinic offers a free consultation with a senior technician who will answer patients questions, assess hair growth and go over your recommended treatment course and areas of treatment. A 48 hour patch test is required before the first treatment.

At Pulse Light Clinic Laser hair removal starts from £32 and from £149 for multiple package areas. Pulse Light Clinic is one of the largest owners of Candela technology in the UK. With constant updated on equipment as it comes on to the market ensuring customers are receiving the safest and fastest laser hair removal technology available.

Coronary Stent Patients May Not Need Long-Term Aspirin – Mount Sinai

High-risk patients undergoing coronary stent procedures may not require long-term aspirin use after stent placement, Mount Sinai researchers report in a groundbreaking study.

The current standard of care for these patients is to combine aspirin with an anti-clotting medication, such as ticagrelor, to lower the risk of heart attack. However, this treatment also increases bleeding complications, and identifying therapies that lower bleeding without increasing heart attack risk has emerged as a clinical priority.

New results from the study, “Ticagrelor With Aspirin or Alone in High-Risk Patients After Coronary Intervention” (TWILIGHT), suggest that doctors treat high-risk cardiac patients following percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) by withdrawing aspirin and using ticagrelor alone. The findings were published in the September 26 issue of The New England Journal of Medicine and presented as a late-breaking trial at the 31st Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT), the annual scientific conference of the Cardiovascular Research Foundation.

“This pivotal, first-ever study to withdraw aspirin in complex patients with coronary stents underlines the importance of bleeding avoidance strategies for targeted care. We showed that withdrawal of aspirin after three months in patients already on a potent antiplatelet regimen (ticagrelor) reduced bleeding significantly without the harm of increasing death or heart attacks,” said TWILIGHT’s Global Principal Investigator, Roxana Mehran, MD, Director of the Center for Interventional Cardiovascular Research and Clinical Trials at Mount Sinai Heart and Professor of Cardiology, and Population Health Science and Policy, at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “This simpler approach saved many bleeding events and preserved the benefit of the single potent blood thinner (ticagrelor). We thank our global investigators in 187 sites around the world who worked tirelessly to bring this study to the finish line, and the patients who agreed to participate in this investigator-sponsored study.”

“As an academic, investigator-initiated global trial, this effort represents the concerted and enthusiastic support of partners and collaborators within the United States and abroad who were committed to answering an important and clinically relevant question,” says Usman Baber, MD, MS, Chair of the TWILIGHT Clinical Coordinating Center and Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. “The overall magnitude and consistency of effect we observed with ticagrelor monotherapy suggests this may be a safer and effective antiplatelet strategy as compared with standard of care.”

Current medical guidelines for patients receiving a cardiac stent in a cardiac catheterization laboratory through a minimally invasive PCI procedure advise that patients receive dual-antiplatelet therapy with both aspirin and a drug from a class of stronger antiplatelet medications called P2Y12 inhibitors, of which ticagrelor is one. These medications prevent blood clots that can lead to heart attack or stroke by reducing the ability of platelets, cellular fragments circulating in the blood, to stick to one another and form a clot. TWILIGHT examined the impact of ticagrelor alone versus ticagrelor plus aspirin on clinically relevant bleeding among patients at high ischemic or bleeding risk undergoing PCI.

The investigators enrolled 9,006 high-risk patients at 187 sites across 11 countries in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Asia. All patients had undergone successful PCI with at least one drug-eluting stent and had been discharged on dual antiplatelet therapy with aspirin and ticagrelor for a three-month duration. After completing the three-month course of dual-antiplatelet therapy, patients without major adverse events were then randomized in a double-blind fashion to either aspirin (81 to 100 mg daily) or placebo, and all patients continued with open-label ticagrelor (90 mg twice daily) for 12 months. Investigators tracked the occurrence of any clinically relevant bleeding, or adverse events such as death, heart attack, and stroke.

For patients who took ticagrelor and no aspirin (placebo), bleeding was reduced by 44 percent, compared to patients on ticagrelor combined with aspirin. Additionally, there were no differences in the risk for heart attack, death, or stroke between the groups, which suggests that aspirin withdrawal does not compromise safety. These results were consistent in both men and women, and in patients older and younger than 65 and those with diabetes (patients over 65 and diabetics are often at higher risk of bleeding and ischemic complications after stenting).

“The TWILIGHT trial is a landmark trial which will change our PCI practice by eliminating aspirin after three months in patients on ticagrelor with resultant lower vascular bleeding and no effect on ischemic endpoints,” says Samin K. Sharma, MD, Director of Clinical and Interventional Cardiology for the Mount Sinai Health System. “The findings are particularly important since this is the first study of its kind where a majority of patients were from the United States of America. The results are more generalizable to American patients and the practice of dropping aspirin may be widely and easily accepted in this country.”

“This groundbreaking study enhances Mount Sinai Heart’s excellence in the field of interventional cardiology,” says Valentin Fuster, MD, PhD, Director of Mount Sinai Heart and Physician-in-Chief of The Mount Sinai Hospital. “I am proud of our team for achieving such great success with our collaborators here in the United States and around the world on this pioneering clinical trial.”

The drug ticagrelor is made by AstraZeneca, which provided Mount Sinai with an unrestricted grant to perform the investigator-initiated study. Dr. Mehran has received financial compensation as a consultant and advisory board member for AstraZeneca in the past. Dr. Baber has received consulting fees from AstraZeneca in the past.

Mybiogate PITCH and MATCH events provide a platform to investors and companies, where they get to know each other in advance and can subsequently follow up through presentations, Q&A and one-on-one meetings.

In the opening, Dr. Ding, Director of Investment Analyst from MyBioGate Inc. encouraged western companies to actively explore the China opportunity and emphasized that despite the CFIUS reform, Chinese companies remain to be interested in investing in innovations all around the world, including United States. The in-licensing deals are not perceived to be restricted and thus reached a record high in 2018.

Nine companies took part in the Boston chapter of the PITCH & MATCH event. Each gave an 8-minute presentation about their cutting-edge science, and the business opportunities that brings globally and in Chinese market, in front of a diverse audience consisting of industrial KOLs and investors from well-known institutions.

Majority of the participating companies focused on therapeutics. For example, Virometix, a Swiss biotechnology company, showcased their technology for designing synthetic vaccines to prevent infectious diseases and treat chronic diseases. Another company, Feldan Therapeutics, grabbed attention by virtue of their proprietary peptide-based delivery platform for direct introduction of proteins into target cells.

Medical devices were also a major area of focus in this event. Sensus Healthcare, Inc., a clinical stage company looking for partners to expand into Chinese market, showed impressive results from use of a targeted single dose triple-modulated radiotherapy and Brachytherapy device.

Interestingly, the therapeutics pitched at this event were not just limited to human diseases. Hemomed, a pre-clinical stage biotech, pitched its lead product for developing and marketing a Canine Anemia drug, produced through its patented, platform technology, EAF PEGylation of Hemoglobin.

Finally, participating companies also came in different sizes. RNP Therapeutics, a seed stage biotechnology company attracted as much attention as Sorrento Therapeutics, a clinical stage biotechnology company with a rich and diverse pipeline.

“The Pitch and Match session at China Focus generated a high level of interest from investors and was a way to quickly connect with a relevant and sizeable audience. We are in due diligence with two companies as a result.” Cited from Anna Sumeray, CEO of Virometix AG. “I was really glad I had a chance to attend China Focus@BWB at Boston in 2019. It provided great opportunity to meet entrepreneurs, investors and make new friends. It is honored to present my startup company (RNP Therapeutics) in front of investors, who later on might be interested in further discussion. One-on-one meeting is extremely useful to make connection. I hope I can attend next meeting in future.” Tom Wang, Acting CFO of RNP Therapeutics responded to us with a passion.
