OhioHealth and ChenMed open three Dedicated Senior Medical Centers in underserved areas of Columbus

News Image

We’re so grateful to be collaborating with OhioHealth to improve the health of seniors in underserved Columbus neighborhoods.

OhioHealth, a nationally recognized health system based in Columbus, Ohio, and ChenMed, a nationally recognized physician-led primary care provider serving seniors in eight states, announced today the opening of the third, of three, primary care offices for seniors, called “Dedicated Senior Medical Centers.” The Dedicated centers bring the proven ChenMed approach to value-based care to underserved Columbus neighborhoods that have long needed personalized primary care to improve the lives of moderate-to-low-income, at-risk seniors. Plus, the three new Dedicated practices are a milestone for the healthcare industry. As the first time ChenMed has partnered with a health care system in opening primary care practices, the multifaceted partnership with OhioHealth could accelerate similar value-based care relationships involving hospital systems nationwide (watch VNR).

Making care simple – more time with patients means better outcomes

The Dedicated center concept is simple and vital to Medicare-eligible seniors, many of whom are living with major and multiple chronic health challenges. The more you see your patients, the better you know them. And the better you know them, the better chance you have of helping them stay healthy by catching small issues before they turn into big ones.

Dedicated primary care physicians (PCPs) spend up to TEN TIMES as much face-to-face time with their patients than a typical physician does. Instead of the national average of just 20.3 minutes of direct time with patients, Dedicated patients spend an average exceeding 200 minutes annually with the physician who knows them best.

“Doctors in our high-touch centers will serve approximately 400 patients each,” reports Christopher Chen, M.D., ChenMed CEO. “That’s roughly one-fifth the national average of 2,300 patients per doctor, so Dedicated primary care physicians are able to invest substantively more time with each patient, earning trust; detecting and managing high-risk diseases; and helping seniors enjoy more healthy days.”

Important personalized care benefits for each Dedicated patient include:

  • Door-to-doctor transportation, if necessary
  • Having the cell phone number for his/her Dedicated primary care physician for timely and informed help whenever a health concern might arise
  • Walk-in appointments
  • Unlimited visits
  • On-site cardiology, medication dispensing, imaging, labs, acupuncture, and more.
  • Healthy lifestyle classes

Making care affordable

Dedicated patients benefit from having almost all costs of care covered by fixed Medicare and/Medicaid reimbursements that are enhanced by Medicare Advantage supplemental insurance plans. In Columbus, Dedicated accepts Aetna, Anthem, Humana, and Medical Mutual of Ohio health plans.

Making care accessible

“The centers are ideally located to serve a population of people who have found it difficult just to see their doctor on a regular basis,” says Michael Krouse, OhioHealth senior vice president, and chief strategy and transformation officer. “This is truly transformational medicine and we are confident that our Dedicated center partnership will help seniors address routine health needs before they turn into major health emergencies.”

Center locations:

  • Columbus Westside – 50 N. Wilson Road (Grand Opening: 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM today)
  • Northland – 2260 Morse Road (opened September 03)
  • Whitehall – 5156 East Main Street (opened August 01)

Ribbon cutting and open house at the Westside center, Monday, October 21.

  • When:    VIP tour + official welcome w/ribbon cutting (11:00 to 11:30 AM)
  • Where: 50 N. Wilson Road (just north of Broad Street)
  • What:    Ribbon-cutting, dedication with physicians, patients and local dignitaries
  • Who:     Mayor Andrew J. Ginther, City of Columbus
  •              Stephen E. Markovich, M.D., President and CEO of OhioHealth
  •              Christopher Chen, M.D., ChenMed CEO
  •              Dedicated doctors, diverse community leaders and 150 to 200 seniors

Dedicated’s approach

“We honor seniors with affordable VIP care that delivers better health,” explains Gaurov Dayal, M.D., ChenMed president new markets and chief growth officer. “Our patients know their Dedicated PCPs want to help them thrive, and this is important because many of the seniors we serve are living with multiple and major health challenges. We’re so grateful to be collaborating with OhioHealth to improve the health of seniors in underserved Columbus neighborhoods.”

“For seniors, especially those living in underserved areas, there’s simply no substitute for the personalized primary care that Dedicated Senior Medical Center physicians provide,” says Bruce Vanderhoff, M.D., MBA, OhioHealth senior vice president and chief medical officer. “We’re delighted to be partnering with Dedicated in opening three senior-friendly medical practices in Columbus. It’s the way healthcare should be delivered to truly improve the health of our senior patients.”

Local economic impact

The five-year investment in Franklin County will exceed $60 million and provide intensive primary care for up to 8,000 seniors. Initially, the three Dedicated centers will employ about 60 full-time workers, including front desk, Medical Assistants, RN case managers, and physicians – the vast majority of whom will be hired locally. As the alliance grows, it’s possible that the partnership could expand to serve more than 20,000 seniors in central Ohio, with a total investment that could top $200 million.

“As I meet with community leaders and constituents, it is clear that more can be done to provide better care for seniors in Central Ohio,” said U.S. Congresswoman Joyce Beatty (OH-03). “That is why I am so excited about OhioHealth and ChenMed’s new partnership to improve upon the delivery and access to healthcare for seniors in underserved communities.”

Dr. Rahal Becomes First Surgeon In Beverly Hills To Offer This Non-Invasive Treatment For Breast Implant Complication, Capsular Contracture

The Aspen treatment has a 90% success rate in eliminating capsular contracture.

An ultrasound machine known as Aspen is the best non-invasive treatment for capsular contracture. Dr. Rahal is the first plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills to invest in this technology. The treatment uses a specific type of ultrasound to break up the hardening around the implant, breaking the capsule, allowing the implant to sit comfortably inside of the breast cavity and provides a soft and natural feel. “This is a very successful and non-invasive option for capsular contracture” says Dr. Rahal. He also stated “The Aspen treatment has a 90% success rate in eliminating capsular contracture.”

Patient Denise Olsen explains “My breasts started to harden and they raised & twisted causing some pain” after undergoing breast augmentation surgery with another plastic surgeon, just 4 weeks after her procedure. After only 4 treatments with the Aspen Ultrasound, she states “I can’t even explain the softness, it doesn’t hurt anymore, I don’t have any more pain in my breasts.”

Capsular Contracture is when a hard capsule forms around the implant. Doctors believe a “biofilm” forms around it and may be caused by bacterial contamination. The capsule around the implant makes the implant more firm, and can make the breasts’ shape look different and uneven.

Capsular Contracture cannot be prevented 100%. Dr. Rahal uses the most up-to-date, and best, practices to reduce its rate of occurrence. This includes not touching the implant, placing it underneath the muscle, and using antibiotics during surgery.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you should be evaluated by your plastic surgeon. If the diagnosis is made of capsular contracture, you should explore treatment options. Fortunately, there are now non-invasive treatments for capsular contracture.

Symptoms Include:

  • The implant begins to feel hard
  • You are experiencing pain, tightness, or discomfort in your chest
  • The implant shape is off, like in the form of a ball.
  • You notice asymmetry after three months as one implant is higher on your chest

Dr. William Rahal is a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon with offices located in Beverly Hills, California and Los Angeles, CA. His specialties include Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgery, Breast Augmentation, Liposuction, Tummy Tuck, Breast Lift, as well as Surgical & Non-Surgical options to treat Capsular Contracture (Breast Implant Complications).

Additional information can be found on Dr. William Rahal’s website at https://drwilliamrahal.com. Consultations can be scheduled with Dr. William Rahal by calling his office at (424) 512-1902.

Quantum Group Achieves 16th Patent Approval

Grace Century’s Electronic Healthcare Record (EHR) Project, the Quantum Group, has achieved a landmark 16th patent.

In one brief paragraph, this new patent earned defines: A way to automate highly complex healthcare situational management and relieve providers of that tedious and human error prone task. Yet, this concept retains and improves human oversight and control of the system.

Scott Wolf, CEO of Grace Century explains further: “One screen enables you to navigate best practices for patient outcome. A.I. could enable you and guide you through the process; but this could also be used in ambulances, Doctors’ offices, wards, etc. This also has the potential for use in financial services and maybe legal profession. In short, any regulatory environment where ‘best practices process’ is used. This is a foundation for machine learning, patient recognition, and A.I., well beyond healthcare. The Patent also works to identify social determinants of health.”

Noel Guillama, the CEO of Quantum Group and the Patent’s author explains: “Healthcare is moving toward a need for a high-speed unified machine intelligence that can depict the complex interactions with and between humans, while providing full attention to every aspect of the critical patients’ medical management. The objective is to provide care providers the ability to focus directly on applying their specializations to care of the infirm and injured by removing distractions and ancillary activities. The concept is applicable to many situations where teams must coordinate efforts and allocate resources to solve a common problem.”

Guillama concludes, “We have always called this Patent the “PWeR® Universe” as it lays out the map for our view of how we infuse technology into healthcare, versus just using technology to document medical care.

Leonardo Canseco & Sharon Kleyne Discover Financial Planning & Water Education

https://www.prweb.com/

Sharon Kleyne, Founder of Bio Logic Aqua Research

Date aired: October 14th, 2019

Guest: Leonardo A. Canseco, CPA, Esquire, Principal at The Canseco Law Group, and Global Solution, LLC, a federal contract law group, Author of many financial planning publications

CPA and practicing attorney Leonardo A. Canseco has spent his career helping others plan and fortify their financial livelihoods while International new water technology researcher Sharon Kleyne has spent more than three decades educating others about body water evaporation and new water technology as it relates to health. Kleyne, also a successful entrepreneur as founder and research director of Bio Logic Aqua® Research Water Life Science®, recently welcomed Canseco to her talk radio program, The Sharon Kleyne Hour Water Life Science®/Nature’s Pharma®, The Power of Water® & Your Health sponsored by Nature’s Tears® EyeMist® on VoiceAmerica sponsored by Global Dragon TV in Washington, D.C. to discuss water health education and financial planning.

Canseco, also the Principal at The Canseco Law Group, and Global Solution, LLC, a federal contract law group, has expertise in individual and business tax cases, including asset protection and wealth management. Canseco also represents many non-profit, tax-exempt organizations and private operating foundations. Canseco serves as General Counsel to a variety of national non-profit organizations. Canseco argues that globalization has changed our world from the World War II generation who raised children and taught them their blueprint to success, which more or less involved a cradle-to-the-grave job model. The information technology of the 21st century has altered the roadmap to achieving financial freedom and independence.

“Values have changed from generation to generation,” says Canseco. “For example, a majority of young people don’t know about inflation or compounding of interest.” Canseco points out that the advent of technology has spurred job-hopping, leading to efforts among the younger generation to diversify income streams.

Kleyne, who shares every week on her talk radio show, that evaporation of body water begins for babies at the moment of birth, that we are all walking sponges and that we must drink 8-to-10 glasses of water a day one full glass at a time, says “We all need to start using common sense. People are not educated about the skin. The skin is the largest organ of the body and the skin is 70% to 75% water. People are not aware that their bodies are made of water. Think of the solar system. What was the Big Bang? It was the evaporation of water.”

If you would like to listen to a conversation with Leonardo A. Canseco, CPA, Esquire, Principal at The Canseco Law Group, and Global Solution, LLC, a federal contract law group, Author of many financial planning publications and Health Olympics inventor, advocate for new water education and research and international evaporation researcher Sharon Kleyne about successful financial planning, the field of government contracts, drinking water to improve health and water research and education, follow this link: https://www.voiceamerica.com/episode/117946/secrets-for-21st-century-financial-planning-success

Coffee for wine lovers from Silver Trident Winery

There are many similarities between a fine wine and delicious coffee. Both are complex, aromatic, well balanced and absolutely delicious.

Napa Valley, October 2019 —- Silver Trident Winery’s winemaker and Tasting Home staff have developed a proprietary blend of coffee, which will be available to purchase at its Tasting Home in Yountville. Winemaker Kari Auringer led the effort to create a blend which maximizes complexity, aromas and a long finish—similar to the elegant and distinctive Silver Trident wines she makes.

The Benevolent Dictator Coffee, in an elegant bright red bag, contains responsibly harvested whole beans. The beans are sourced from Burundi, specifically because of the qualities of acidity due to the high altitude; Guatemala, for specific mid-palate flavor notes and Sumatra, for mocha characteristics.

“There are many similarities between a fine wine and delicious coffee,” explains founder Bob Binder. “Both are complex, aromatic, well balanced and absolutely delicious,” he adds. “We sourced outstanding beans roasted in a very specific way for a coffee which will appeal to the most discerning wine aficionado who also appreciates superb coffee,” he continues. The Benevolent Dictator coffee beans are blended in small 40-pound batches, similar to the small-scale artisanal winemaking processes behind Silver Trident’s wines.

The 12-ounce bag of medium-roast whole bean coffee will be available for $18.00 at The Tasting Home at 6495 Washington Street in Yountville later this fall.

Silver Trident Winery is a small production winery whose Yountville Tasting Home is an elegant showroom with décor and furnishings by the Ralph Lauren Home Collection. Exemplifying a new business model for winery tasting rooms, guests can taste the winery’s five wines while relaxing in either the dining room, study or living room. Winemaker Kari Auringer seeks out distinctive vineyards for grapes for each of the winery’s proprietarily-named wines.

The winery’s name is a tribute to the owners’ long-standing affiliation with cruise ships. Bob Binder is the co-founder of Oceania Cruises, a luxury cruise line which has partnered on projects with The Wine Spectator, Lalique, Bon Appétit Magazine and Ralph Lauren Home. The Culinary Director for Oceania Cruises is Jacques Pépin; the line is regarded as serving the finest cuisine at sea. The winery’s co-founder is Swiss-born Walter Jost, an accomplished advertising and media executive.

Although tasting reservations are suggested, guests can ‘walk in’ and enjoy a seated tasting at the Silver Trident Tasting Home, located at 6495 Washington Street in Yountville and open seven days a week from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.
