Catalent to Supply BeiGene’s BTK Inhibitor BRUKINSA™ (zanubrutinib)

Our Kansas City facility has an extensive track record in supporting the development and launch of multiple fast-track designation medicines, especially cancer therapies.

Catalent, the leading global provider of advanced delivery technologies, development, and manufacturing solutions for drugs, biologics, gene therapies, and consumer health products, today announced that it had entered into a long-term commercial supply agreement with BeiGene, Ltd., a biopharmaceutical company focused on developing and commercializing innovative molecularly-targeted and immuno-oncology drugs for the treatment of cancer. Under the agreement, Catalent will manufacture BRUKINSA™ (zanubrutinib) [1], a Bruton’s tyrosine kinase (BTK) inhibitor that has recently received accelerated approval from the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), as a treatment for mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) in adult patients who have received at least one prior therapy.[2] BRUKINSA is now commercially available in the U.S.

Catalent’s Kansas City, Missouri site has supported BeiGene’s program since 2016, from formulation development and clinical trial supply, onto commercial supply for the U.S. and, subject to further approvals, other markets.

“Our Kansas City facility has an extensive track record in supporting the development and launch of multiple fast-track designation medicines, especially cancer therapies.” commented Jonathan Arnold, President of Catalent’s Oral and Specialty Delivery business. He added, “We are pleased to have worked with BeiGene toward this important first approval and we look forward to commercial launch in the U.S., and to supporting BeiGene as they seek further approvals.”

Commenting on the FDA’s accelerated approval, John V. Oyler, Chairman, Co-Founder, and CEO of BeiGene, said, “The FDA approval of BRUKINSA, following the previously granted Breakthrough Therapy designation in this indication, validates it as an important treatment option for people with relapsed or refractory MCL. We hope this is the first of many approvals for BRUKINSA as we continue to evaluate its potential in other hematologic cancers.”

HealthTeamWorks launches Primary Care First Support Program

News Image

HealthTeamWorks, the Colorado-based, non-profit national leader in medical practice transformation, announced formation of its Primary Care First (PCF) Practice Support Program, a low-cost service suite designed to improve practice capabilities and boost performance in the new Primary Care First models announced in April by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The practice support services include online coaching consultation, peer learning forums, and in-person collaborative learning to shared best practices that help practices optimize total Medicare payment under the PCF models.

HealthTeamWorks is also offering a free PCF Revenue Calculator Tool designed to help primary care practices better understand, prepare for and ultimately succeed in the PCF payment model. The tool uses Medicare Fee for Service revenue modeling as a comparator to further inform practices’ PCF business decision-making and planning. Free webinars demonstrating how to use the tool are scheduled for November 26 and December 11.

According to CMS, Primary Care First rewards practices for meeting quality and cost-of-care outcomes targets. PCF payment model options provide opportunities for advanced primary care practices to increase total Medicare payment and promise simpler reporting burdens.

“Primary Care First rewards high-functioning primary care practices that are successful in managing the health of populations and reducing hospital utilization,” said Bert Miuccio, HealthTeamWorks’ CEO. “With straightforward quality measures and the potential for increased total Medicare payment, it’s another entry point for high-performing primary care practices to thrive in the value-based payment environment.”

CMS will provide data and resources to guide the operational and care delivery aims that practices need to achieve to thrive in Primary Care First. HealthTeamWorks’ new PCF support services complement and supplement CMS’ resources and include a practice readiness assessment, coaching, and technical support that will not be provided by CMS.

“For our practices involved in SIM and CPC+, HealthTeamWorks’ coaching and learning collaboratives accelerated their ability to use data, improve patient care and lower costs, thereby achieving success in value-based delivery models,” said Timothy Dudley, MD, CMO, HealthONE Colorado Care Partners. “The power of expert coaching and peer learning is a key ingredient to practice transformation.”

“HealthTeamWorks’ deep experience supporting practices that thrive in advanced commercial and federal health insurance payment programs was the springboard to create our Primary Care First services—to support primary care practices on their pathway to success in this new model,” Miuccio said.

HealthTeamWorks PCF Support services are delivered virtually, so they’re both convenient and affordable. Practices collaborate during small-group coaching sessions and monthly topic-specific learning meetings. Flexible pricing includes a shared-risk option with a reduced cost to enroll.

“The benefits from participation in HealthTeamWorks’ PCF Support Collaborative aren’t limited to this model. They’ll accrue to commercial and other value-based contracts as well,” Miuccio said. “Our experience helping practices understand what drives high-cost care, optimize efficiency and improve experience of care for both patients and providers is the impact catalyst to drive practice quality outcomes and financial success.”

About HealthTeamWorks:

HealthTeamWorks leads providers, systems and payers on a proven pathway to increased effectiveness as they prepare for new payment models. By facilitating healing relationships of trust, we amplify the role and responsibility of each team member. Schaumburg Dental Studio Removes Painful Wisdom Teeth with Leading-Edge Extraction Techniques in Schaumburg, IL

Dr. Jig Patel, Dentist in Schaumburg, IL

Dr. Jig Patel Offers Gentle Wisdom Tooth Extractions in Schaumburg, IL

Not all dentists take that extra time to walk you through the process like Dr. Patel does.

Schaumburg Dental Studio offers patients with impacted wisdom teeth in Schaumburg, IL the opportunity to receive wisdom tooth extractions from their experienced general dentists. This not only saves patients time by removing the lengthy referral process, but it also saves patients on the high costs of seeing a specialist. Dr. Jig Patel and his associate Dr. Muizz Merchant create a seamless wisdom tooth extraction process, offering patients sedation dentistry and a comfortable, stress-free atmosphere.

Schaumburg Dental Studio recommends wisdom tooth extraction this time of year because many young patients with impacted wisdom teeth are returning to school in the fall. Receiving treatment now gives patients plenty of time to recover before school reconvenes.

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, have evolved to no longer serve a purpose in oral function. Instead, they often cause issues such as pain, swelling, tooth decay, inflammation and abrasions. When patients start to recognize these symptoms, many dentists recommend undergoing a wisdom tooth extraction before the teeth cause further oral concerns.

Schaumburg Dental Studio offers many in-house sedation options for patients and works closely with an experienced anesthesiologist when patients elect general anesthesia. If patients need all four wisdom teeth extracted, this can typically be done in one visit, which expedites healing and eliminates the need for additional surgeries. Plus, when patients undergo wisdom tooth extraction, they experience relief from wisdom tooth pain and the other oral complications.

Dr. Patel and Dr. Merchant put forth extra effort to ensure that their patients understand their treatment and are comfortable throughout the process. “Everyone is very friendly, helpful, and willing to do whatever needs to be done to make you feel comfortable,” Gabrielle, a patient of Dr. Patel, explains as she recalls her numerous visits to Schaumburg Dental Studio. “Dr. Patel is extremely gentle, and lets you know ahead of time what’s going to happen. Not all dentists take that extra time to walk you through the process like Dr. Patel does.”

Individuals with impacted wisdom teeth who are looking to for wisdom tooth extraction options in Schaumburg, IL can connect with Schaumburg Dental Studio for a consultation. To schedule an appointment visit http://www.SchaumburgDentalStudio.com or call 847-348-8673.

Lazer Products Get Top Marks in Virginia Tech Helmet Safety Rating Update

Lazer Century MIPS 5-star rating helmet

Virginia Tech, in collaboration with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, just released its latest testing results for bicycle helmets which included several Lazer products receiving its highest 5-star rating.

Lazer’s helmet models Impala MIPS, Century MIPS and Blade+ MIPS were all rated with the highest 5-star rating, joining its helmets that were rated at the same level in previous updates: Z1 MIPS and Cyclone MIPS. Lazer’s mid-priced Century MIPS helmets even achieved the highest score of all road helmets tested by Virginia Tech to date.

The Virginia Tech impact testing uses the STAR evaluation system to determine the helmet’s ability to reduce linear acceleration and rotational velocity of the head resulting from a range of impacts a cyclist might experience. Virginia Tech recommends the use of any 4- or 5-star rated helmet.

An overview of the tested Lazer helmet and rankings for 2019:

  • Century MIPS: 5-Star rating
  • Blade+ MIPS: 5-Star rating
  • Impala MIPS: 5-Star rating
  • Coyote MIPS: 4-Star rating

Mike Smink, Commercial Director of Lazer Sport: “Lazer is delighted with the outcome of the test. Lazer invests heavily in product design and engineering and we conduct extensive in-house testing in the development of our products with safety being the primary goal. These Virginia Tech results reflect our efforts. The CPSC tests for direct impact and overall helmet safety such as retention tests, roll-off and field of vision. This is the minimum safety standard. The tests of Virginia Tech have an increased focus on oblique impact which quantifies a measure of safety in addition to the CPSC testing standard. While not yet recognized by the CPSC we believe that the measurement and comparison of rotational safety is of value for the consumer to be aware of.”

Shamrock Sports & Entertainment teams up with Maine Tourism & Norway Savings Bank to present re-imagined Winter Festival, Carnaval ME

Portland’s Eastern Prom

“We welcome Carnaval ME to the world of winter festivals! As thousands of Mainers have enjoyed Carnaval de Quebec thru the decades, we look forward to collaborating with Carnaval ME to drive mutually rewarding promotion and experiences,” said Carnaval de Quebec Commercial Director Marie-Eve Jacob.

In the 1920s, thousands of visitors flocked to Portland to enjoy a winter spectacle of ice castles, sculptures, sled dogs, ski jumping and other outdoor festivities to celebrate the season. A century later, the party is back.

Shamrock Sports & Entertainment, in partnership with Maine Office of Tourism and Norway Savings Bank, will transform the Eastern Prom in Portland into a winter wonderland, with activities and attractions to appeal to Mainers and visitors alike. The inaugural 3 day festival, scheduled for January 30 through February 2, 2020.

The Carnaval Maine celebration kicks off with the Bicentennial Winter Ball on Thursday, January 30 to mark the 200th year of Maine’s statehood. Throughout the festival, art installations, illumination shows, a rail jam competition and special igloo soiree events will take place. Professional ice sculptors will wow the crowd with live events, offering a world-class experience of people of all ages. Bites and Brews will bring award-winning chefs and craft brewers together like Allagash and Luke’s Lobster for made-in-Maine pairings sure to delight the most discerning palates.

“Winter is an important season in Maine attracting nearly 6.5 million visitors and about $200 million in lodging sales alone. Combine that with the food, retail and recreational opportunities people come here to experience and the economic impact of winter tourism is significant,” said Steve Lyons, director of the Maine Office of Tourism. “We believe Carnaval Maine will be a new experience that will drive visitation and be an added boost to our winter economy.”

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to provide support via our Presenting Partnership of Carnaval ME and specifically the Illumination experiences. Winter is particularly magical with snow-filled landscapes and exciting activities. The Carnaval Illumination Experience will bring color and joy to the Promenade. We look forward to playing a role in making Carnaval ME a memorable event for our growing communities,” said Patricia Weigel, President and CEO of Norway Savings Bank.

The tradition of celebrating Winter from the end of January till mid-February has been around for a long time. In Quebec City, the world’s snow capital, the first major winter carnival made its debut in 1894.

On the heels of a 2019 Portland Pops event on Portland’s Eastern prom featuring the beloved Portland Symphony Orchestra and recent news of partnership with PGA to bring the Live & Work in Maine Open to Falmouth Country Club in June of 2020, Carnaval ME becomes the 3rd annual event to be managed, owned, operated and marketed by Shamrock Signature, a division of Shamrock Sports & Entertainment focused on LIVE experiences. “At Shamrock Sports & Entertainment we are very excited to bring to life an epic event that will celebrate Maine being a State for All Seasons, contribute to the local economy and support our community of award winning artists, breweries and chefs to be enjoyed by locals and visitors alike,” said Shamrock CEO, Brian Corcoran.

Benchmark Named ‘Top Place to Work’ By The Boston Globe For 12th Straight Year

News Image

We believe that human connection has the power to transform lives, and it’s our stellar associates who support our residents and their families with their compassionate care and vibrant community experiences through which everyone can grow and thrive, says Chairman and CEO Tom Grape.

Benchmark Senior Living, a human connection company and leading provider of senior living services in the Northeast, today announced that it has been named one of the Top Places to Work for the 12th straight year in The Boston Globe’s 12th annual associate-based survey. It is one of only four companies to have made the list every year it has been published and is the only senior living organization on the list. Benchmark ranked number 11 in the “Largest Company” category.

“We are incredibly honored to be recognized by the Globe year after year for our rich company culture, and being on this list every year since its inception is something we are extremely proud of,” says Chairman and CEO Tom Grape. “We believe that human connection has the power to transform lives, and it’s our stellar associates who support our residents and their families with their compassionate care and vibrant community experiences through which everyone can grow and thrive. We are incredibly grateful for their service.”

Top Places to Work recognizes the most admired workplaces in Massachusetts as voted by the people who know them best, their associates. The survey measures associates’ opinions anonymously about their company’s direction, execution, connection, management, work, pay and benefits, and engagement.

“The companies that make our list are much more than just decent employers,” says Katie Johnston, the Globe’s Top Places to Work editor. “They make work fun, and they make their people feel cared for. Some of them even help employees realize dreams that have nothing to do with their jobs.”

In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, Benchmark offers a wide variety of associate incentives and recognition programs designed to sustain its award-winning culture, including Gratitude Grams; Service Champion and Compassionate Caregiver awards; and the Benchmark One Company Fund, a non-profit organization providing funding to associates in need.

Throughout its 12 years on the Globe’s prestigious list, Benchmark has appeared with some of New England’s most prominent companies, including Accenture, Akamai, Bright Horizons, Comcast, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, Massachusetts General Hospital, TripAdvisor and Tufts Health Plan.

Benchmark has been named to FORTUNE magazine’s Best Workplaces for Aging Services list both years it has been published. In 2019, it moved up to the number 15 spot on the list of 50 large companies in the senior housing and care category, ranking number five among senior living companies with 50 or more communities. Throughout its nearly 23-year history, the company has been recognized as a top workplace by the Boston Business Journal, Connecticut Post, Hartford Courant and Hartford Business Journal, and as one of the healthiest employers by Boston Business Journal and Providence Business News.
