SCHC, One of Canada’s Top-rated PTSD & Trauma Treatment Programs, Announces Somatic Therapy Availability

Top-rated PTSD & Trauma Treatment Programs

As a leading evidence-based trauma and PTSD treatment center here in British Columbia, we are always on the lookout for new therapies for our clients.

Sunshine Coast Health Centre (SCHC), considered one of the best residential trauma and PTSD treatment programs in British Columbia, Canada, is pleased to announce its new offering, Somatic Therapy. Somatic Counseling or Sensorimotor psychotherapy is a body-based talk therapy, integrating current findings from neuroscience to transform traumatic memories into strengths and resources for the client. It works with depression, fear, and anxiety. The technique works with developmental trauma, such as maternal lack of attunement, as well as acute or gross trauma like PTSD, sexual abuse, violence, or verbal abuse.

“As a leading evidence-based trauma and PTSD treatment center here in British Columbia, we are always on the lookout for new therapies for our clients,” explained Casey Jordan, Chief Marketing Officer. “Somatic therapy is another tool in our toolbox to help clients recover from trauma and PTSD. Persons who are interested in the therapy should reach out to us for a private, confidential consultation on the methodology.”

Persons who are interested in the PTSD treatment options should visit https://www.sunshinecoasthealthcentre.ca/ptsd-therapy-program/. Persons interested in trauma treatment options should visit https://www.sunshinecoasthealthcentre.ca/trauma-program/. Again, those interested in learning more about the new Somatic Therapy options are urged to reach out to the Centre via the Website or via telephone. It should be noted that persons come not only from British Columbia but from Alberta and Saskatchewan provinces to the Centre.

SOMATIC THERAPY OFFERS NEW OPTIONS FOR PTSD AND TRAUMA

Here is the background on this release. In a Somatic Counseling session, the client will talk about what’s coming up for them as they would with any form of talk therapy. The therapist will gently help the client increase awareness of emotions, bodily sensations, and behaviours. Some of the ways in which the therapist may do this is by bringing focused attention to one’s body as the client shares their story, such as their physical sensations that accompany their feelings or any movements. The therapist also provides somatic exercises at this time. Everything done is consent-based in a non-judgemental environment.

ACC Medlink’s Major Fleet Expansion in December 2019

Partial Fleet of Medical Transportation Vans at ACC Medlink.

Some of ACC Medlink’s Fleet of Mercedes Sprinter Vans for Medical Transportation!

ACC Medlink has been waiting more than two years for their Mercedes Sprinter fleet expansion. This long awaited expansion was due to Amazon’s incredibly large purchase of these vehicles for their Prime delivery services. Although ACC Medlink’s fleet expansion had been delayed by Mercedes, they’ve recently received word on vehicle availability and are expecting to have the new 2020 Mercedes Sprinters with BlueTEC for clean emissions on the road for year end.

ACC Medlink specializes in long distance non-emergency medical transportation. Since they’ve been in business, more than 10,000 customers have been served well over a distance of 9 million miles. They have a fleet of Mercedes Sprinter vans all across the nation to handle any non-emergency long distance medical transport. Each vehicle has three comfortable beds allowed for non-stop transport from 300 to 3,000 miles. Medical professionals accompany the patient throughout the entire trip. The highly experienced medical professionals are chosen based on the needs of the patient. The medical professional gives the client that safe feeling that they’ll enjoy during their long transport.

In preparation of the new deliveries, the vehicles will go through an extensive process in Elkhart, Indiana to make them ready for this luxurious service, and incredibly safe for their customers. A structural engineer prepares each and every vehicle. An inspection service runs a crash simulation on the structural integrity of the materials used inside of the Mercedes Sprinter. They check the strength of the bed-plate welding, fittings, chairs, and other items in the back of the van. The goal of the inspections are to ensure that the modifications provide the safest possible vehicle for ACC Medlink customers. Since safety is the number one priority, ACC Medlink takes the extra steps to ensure the safety of all passengers aboard their medical transport vehicles. Other companies have a common bed in the back of their vans with extremely thin legs that were not designed for mobile application. If an accident were to occur, those legs could crumble and make matters worse.

As a company dedicated to providing a luxurious experience for long distance medical transportation, ACC Medlink goes above and beyond to make that a reality. They don’t use recreational vehicles (RVs), they don’t use minivans, they use the only D.O.T approved vehicle for medical transportation. The Mercedes Sprinter has long been an incredibly reliable vehicle specialized in safety, which makes it the perfect vehicle for such an important service. The safety of ACC Medlink’s customers is non-negotiable.

Chef Christian Bowman’s Unique Culinary Creations Fuel The NBA’s Talented Athletes

Christian Bowman cooks for NBA Talent

A rising star in both men and women’s health and lifestyle audience, it takes a chef who has cooked for stars like Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, and Jimmy Butler, to know how to compose a diet fit for a champion.

In the United States, we regard chefs as a talented creative and necessary resource of our time. With countless awards, reviews, and media, there is no shortage of phenomenal restaurants for guests to visit. Meet the chef behind the scenes in the private kitchens of the most exceptional talent in the world. Christian Bowman, Chef to NBA All-Stars and celebrities, is a culinary master with raw natural born talent.

A team is more than just the players and, much like an excellent recipe, requires specific ingredients to thrive: family, dedication, loyalty, community, love, and health. Without all of these ingredients, persistence somewhere weakens. Food is the common ground that links everything together, and Chef Christian Bowman’s diverse and unique palate is what is needed both on and off the court.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, Christian grew up in a very rough part of South Central LA, where, unfortunately, gangs and drugs are present. Chef’s faith in God, his friendships, and his family, as well as his hard work in the culinary industry, now inspires the community. Chef Cbo’s value is widely recognized in celebrity communities as perfectly tailored dishes that are always new and innovative. We are seeing a rise in the demand for portioned and unique ways of eating. The meal-kit industry now valued at over 1.5 billion dollars and rising needs chefs with Cbo’s talent to push forward and stand out among competitors.

A rising star in both men and women’s health and lifestyle audience, it takes a chef who has cooked for stars like Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, and Jimmy Butler, to know how to compose a diet fit for a champion. Requested by the best personal trainers, celebrities, and athletes, Chef Cbo knows how to accommodate the needs of his client without hesitation. His real gift lies in his limitless creativity and beautiful spirit. He will launch a recipe blog taking you behind the scenes of his best recipes in January 2020.

As we see significant and long overdue recognition for our African American chefs here in the US, he is one to watch. This holiday season, he recommends a Spiral Honey Baked Ham as the main dish to be a crowd-pleaser and for more plating ideas follow him on Instagram @chefcbo

The latest AI breast cancer identification system, Transpara™ 1.6 will be showcased at RSNA 2019

News Image

What’s exciting about Transpara 1.6 is that there is now evidence to show that it is catching high grade cancers earlier so that treatment can begin earlier and so improve a woman’s chances of a cure

Transpara™ 1.6, the leading Artificial Intelligence decision support system for breast cancer screening, that uses deep learning algorithms to automatically detect potential breast cancer in 2D and 3D DBT mammograms, will be unveiled at the Annual Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) meeting, December 1-6, 2019 (ScreenPoint Medical, South Hall #4380).

The software uniquely ranks mammograms on a 10-point scale indicating the short term risk that cancer is present. Independent clinical validations demonstrate that this Transpara Exam Score can reduce workload and help radiologists prioritise patients for further investigation. Interactive decision support is provided to assist radiologists with image interpretation. Studies have shown that Transpara matches the performance of radiologists , thus acting as a ‘second pair of eyes’ which increases diagnostic confidence and accuracy .

Transpara is CE Marked for use with 2D mammography and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) images from multiple vendors and is installed at leading breast imaging centers in Europe. Transpara is FDA Cleared for use with 2D mammography in the U.S. and is pending FDA Clearance for use with 3D DBT.

“The showcasing of Transpara 1.6 at RSNA demonstrates our focus on continually improving to ensure we can provide our clients with the best commercially available breast AI,” said Nico Karssemeijer, CEO for ScreenPoint Medical. “We understand that reading 3D mammography presents radiologists with huge workload and reading time challenges compared to 2D. With feedback from the field, we redesigned the Transpara 1.6 interface and utilised our patented co-registration slice technology to optimise reading workflow and to ensure peace of mind. Users just click on the region of interest on the synthetic 2D image and are immediately taken directly to the exact slice which saves time.”

“ScreenPoint’s aim is to help radiologists to identify and diagnose breast cancer as early as possible whilst minimizing problems associated with mammography including over-diagnosis. What’s exciting about Transpara 1.6 is that there is now evidence to show that it is catching high grade cancers earlier so that treatment can begin earlier and so improve a woman’s chances of a cure,” said ScreenPoint co-founder, Professor Sir Michael Brady.

Pieter Kroese, COO of ScreenPoint Medical, said: “International interest in the success of the Transpara system has been growing rapidly: Transpara is now being used or piloted in around 20 countries around the world and the feedback from radiologists has been universally positive. We are extremely fortunate to have some excellent partners who have seen at first hand the benefits Transpara can bring to increasingly busy radiologists.”

Transpara is marketed in the USA by Siemens Healthineers USA and Volpara Solutions, a wholly owned sales and marketing arm of Volpara Health Technologies.

Following the successful launch of ScreenPoint Medical’s medical education program at EUSOBI this year, ScreenPoint is collaborating with Siemens Healthineers for Transpara self-reading workshop sessions (10:15 – 5:00pm, Sunday 1 December -Thursday 5 December) in the North Hall at booth #8563”

Transpara will also be featured in an abstract accepted for presentation: ‘Artificial Intelligence Detecting Breast Cancer in a Screening Population: Accuracy, Earlier Detection on Prior Mammograms and Relation with Cancer Grade. Sunday, Dec. 1st 11:55am to 12:05pm in Room S406A.’

Cumberland Academy of Georgia Encourages Students to Sharpen Their Social-Emotional Skills Over the Holidays

Sharpen Social-Emotional Skills Over the Holidays

“We want our students to be able to transition into the holidays as smoothly as possible. Discussing the pros and cons and what to expect makes this time of year that much more enjoyable,” said Debbi Scarborough, founder/headmaster.

As Cumberland students enter the festive holiday season filled with family gatherings and honored customs, teachers aren’t focusing on the potential for academic backslide but rather opportunities for social-emotional growth. Teachers and counselors realize that students won’t be picking up their textbooks or logging into GoogleClassroom as often during the break but might be faced with challenges surrounding the busyness and stress that come with the holidays. “The travel, shopping, unfamiliar smells, noises and additional faces can be a lot for our kids, so we try to talk about what to expect and equip them with coping strategies,” said Britani Wilson, teacher and counselor at Cumberland.

Before leaving campus for the break Cumberland families are encouraged to do the following: Remember the things your thankful for –the holidays are an important time to realize all of the gifts we have been given and the people that support us. Keep expectations reasonable and take time for yourself. Give yourself permission to request & allow help from others. Try to build in as much routine as possible. Try to not over-schedule.

Adjusting to changes in routine or to new events and experiences is often a huge challenge for students on the spectrum and can be taxing at times. “We want our students to be able to transition into the holidays as smoothly as possible. Discussing the pros and cons and what to expect makes this time of year that much more enjoyable,” said Debbi Scarborough, founder/headmaster. Students will be out of school for Thanksgiving break starting on November 25th and will return on December 1st.

About Cumberland Academy of Georgia

Cumberland Academy of Georgia specializes in the needs of students in grades 4 through 12 who have high-functioning autism, Asperger’s syndrome, attention deficit disorder (ADD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and learning disabilities. Cumberland was founded in 2007 by Debbi and Matthew Scarborough, and is a fully-accredited, independent, non-profit school that seeks to provide a safe and supportive academic atmosphere for its students. Cumberland accepts applications year-round. To schedule a family tour, please contact Jane Paoletta, Director of Admissions, at 404-835-9000, or email admissions@cumberlandacademy.org.

“We are also seeing the fruition of investments made to update and digitize our industry-leading Qualified Safety Sales Professional (QSSP) training program to ensure that training participants have modern learning tools and the most relevant safety information,” added Wallentine. “Looking ahead, we will stay focused on the needs of end users to identify and implement safety innovations to protect more workers in more work environments, especially where we can quantify the impact of better safety standards. That is what we believe is important and what we want to deliver going forward.”

Tom Votel became Ergodyne president & CEO in 1986, in a turnaround and rebranding of the company’s prior incarnation. He led the firm through a variety of existential threats, helping it evolve into a respected leading developer of specialized gear for worker safety and productivity.

“Due to visionary leadership, a great staff and member support, ISEA is stronger than ever,” said Votel. “I look forward to continuing to improve and enhance our value to members and the noble goal of advancing standards that ensure worker safety and protection.”

Continuing members of the ISEA board are past chairman Sheila Eads, President and Chief Executive Officer of ERB Industries; Kelly Kolb, Senior Business Development Manager, Kimberly-Clark Professional; Brian Myers, Global Business Manager, 3M Personal Safety; and Bill Schubach is Vice President of Sales for Moldex-Metric.
