News Image

HOUR25.AI, an algorithm-based digital platform combating a trillion-dollar problem to reduce internet addictions, increase resiliency and improve well-being at home and at work, today announced the formation of an Executive Athletic Advisory Board comprised primarily of professional athletes, sports business leaders, and sports influencers. Former NBA player Eddie Johnson will Chair the committee and President & CEO of Uncommon Investment Advisors, Eric Rubin, will join as a Senior Advisor. Both are early investors in the company as well.

The Executive Athletic Advisory Board will provide business guidance, expertise, and direction to Co-Founders Yair Nativ and Amir Raskin, while also investing in the company’s ongoing growth and success. Eddie Johnson is the epitome of someone who has worked hard and dedicated his life to succeeding, regardless of obstacles and challenge.

Through hard work, dedication and the desire to make a better life for his family, Eddie was awarded with a full athletic scholarship to the University of Illinois. In 1981, the Kansas City Kings drafted him with their #29 pick, culminating his seventeen-year career by becoming one of the most prolific scorers and greatest pure jump shooters to ever have played the game. His hard work ethic and strong leadership abilities have taken him to success off the court as well. Eddie spent time playing for several NBA teams including the Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets, where along with his Sixth Man of the Year Award, he is also remembered for hitting the game-winning three-pointer as time expired in a 95–92 Rockets win over the Utah Jazz in game 4 of the 1997 Western Conference Finals.

As a color analyst with the Phoenix Suns, Johnson has established himself as one who brings an honest, knowledgeable, and unique style to the networks (NBC, TNT, ESPN and the Big Ten Network.) Taking those same leadership qualities that he honed on the basketball court, Eddie has crossed over to the business world, owning JJJ Sports, a company that is comprised of basketball camps, clinics, instructional videos, books and motivational speaking.

“I am thrilled to join the Hour 25.AI Executive Athletic Advisory Board,” said Eddie Johnson. “This company is on the cutting edge of high tech, offering users an incredible tool to remain focused. I am excited to be on a winning team that is providing meaningful impact in terms of productivity and well-being.”

Eric Rubin has over 30 years’ experience as a financial services executive and is the President and CEO of Uncommon Investment Advisors, an SEC-registered investment advisor. Rubin has worked with Uncommon since 2019 and played a critical role in the launch of its first Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) on the New York Stock Exchange in April 2021.

In addition, he serves on the board of Uncommon Charitable Impact, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and chairs its investment committee. Rubin previously served as a consultant to OurCrowd, Israel’s most active venture capital firm, as CEO of a Western-based Registered Investment Advisor, President of American Independence Financial Services LLC, and President of American Independence Funds.

In addition, during his long career, Eric created ING Retirement Services that was selected by the NBA/NBPA to launch the first 401(k) plan for NBA players. In addition to the team enrollment meetings, he also conducted the NBA/NBPA financial literacy program for 3 years. Following ING, Eric ran his own financial planning firm focused on professional athletes. Dedicated to charitable causes, Rubin currently serves as a Board Member of Together Vouch For Each Other U.S., Chairman and President of P3 Israel, and Chairman of the Board of Give N Grow Basketball.

“I am very excited to join the Hour 25.AI Executive Athletic Advisory Board,” said Eric Rubin. “I am proud to champion an initiative that is offering a platform for increased productivity and wellbeing. Pro athletes are now not only lending their names and likenesses to start-ups, but they are becoming owners in these business that will hopefully generate a whole new level of generational wealth and business and investing experience.”

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore Elevates Mental Health Conversation with LOUDER Event

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore’s mental health awareness event, LOUDER, will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Sagamore Pendry Baltimore.

LOUDER, like many of our other initiatives, allows us to help reduce the stigma around mental health while also celebrating Baltimore companies and leaders who champion our values day in and day out.

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore’s mental health awareness event, LOUDER, will be held on Tuesday, April 19 at 5:30 p.m. at Sagamore Pendry Baltimore. The event will recognize and celebrate the individuals and companies who are committed to reducing the stigma around mental health in Baltimore through NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore’s I Will Listen campaign.

At the event, NAMI will honor local leaders who elevate the conversation around mental health in the workplace and the Greater Baltimore community with the NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore LOUDER Achievement Award. This year’s honorees and speakers are Tchernavia Bagheri-Rocker, Chief People and Administrative Officer at Under Armour, and Patrick Sutton, Designer and Owner of Patrick Sutton Design.

“284,000 adults in Baltimore City and County have a mental health condition–that’s the equivalent of four full Baltimore Ravens stadiums,” said Kerry Graves, Executive Director of NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore. “LOUDER, like many of our other initiatives, allows us to help reduce the stigma around mental health while also celebrating Baltimore companies and leaders who champion our values day in and day out.”

Morgan State University will also be awarded for its demonstration of creativity and innovation in addressing the mental health needs of its students with the NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore #IWillListen Student Impact Award. During the 2021 #IWillListen Campaign, Morgan State University reached 1,200 students through 14 events including game nights, “Unplugged” open mic nights, yoga, and other wellness events to help start the conversation around mental health.

The money raised from LOUDER will support the work of NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore and its mission to improve the lives of local individuals living with mental health conditions, their families, and their communities through education, support, and advocacy. Donations will allow the organization to expand and provide critical support groups, classes, and mental health programming free of charge to the Baltimore community.

In 2021, NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore provided nearly 9,000 touch points of service in the Baltimore City and County for individuals living with mental health conditions, their families, and communities through education, support, and advocacy. During that same year, 39.1% of adults in Maryland reported symptoms of anxiety or depression and 31.3% were unable to get needed counseling or therapy.

“There is undoubtedly a need for organizations like NAMI in the Baltimore area, especially given the events of the last several years,” said Patrick Sutton. “Offering empathy and support at every level is critical, and I’m looking forward to sharing my passion for NAMI’s mission and my personal mental health story with Baltimore’s leaders at LOUDER.”

NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore is proud to have Sheppard Pratt as LOUDER’s Premier Sponsor, with other sponsors including Under Armour, Atlas Restaurant Group, Baltimore Magazine, BHS, Bloomtopia, Brown Advisory, Patrick Sutton, and Whiting-Turner Contracting. For more information about NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore, the LOUDER event, or to purchase tickets, please visit our website.

Chacruna Institute’s Studies in Psychedelic Justice Provide Critical Education Taught by Leading Experts

Filling a void in the psychedelic space, Chacruna is now offering Studies in Psychedelic Justice, an inclusive program with 3 courses and one workshop focused on essential topics of justice, diversity, equity and inclusion, taught by Chacruna’s team and a few extra invited professors, all leading experts working at the cutting edge of anthropology, psychology, law, healthcare, science, conservation and more. The series begins this May. On offer are three multi-week courses ranging from six to 16 weeks, as well as a one-day workshop focusing on reducing the impact of implicit bias. Participants can take one course or sign up for all four.

As the field of psychedelic studies grows and receives international attention, many programs and courses focus solely on psychedelic science. While this work is vital, Chacruna recognizes the essential need for psychedelic education grounded in justice, equity, and cultural and historical context.

Chacruna Institute’s vibrant courses, designed to be intellectual, personal and experiential, will leave participants with a nuanced understanding of the topics Chacruna explores. They will also provide students with unprecedented access to groundbreaking teachers, researchers and luminaries in the field. Courses meet weekly and will support people already working within, or interested in stepping into, psychedelic studies and praxis, as well as anyone interested in deepening their knowledge on the subject.

Bia Labate, PhD, Chacruna Institute’s Executive Director, shares that “Chacruna Institute’s Studies in Psychedelic Justice is a unique offering,” she says. “We combine academic excellence with a compassionate approach towards social justice issues. Amidst the explosion of trainings in the emergent field of psychedelics, the shamanic and spiritual roots of the psychedelic movement as well as marginalized contributions in both healing and research by women, queer people, Indigenous peoples, people of color, and the Global South, are frequently excluded from the mainstream narrative.” She adds, “we need healers and therapists that have a deep humanistic worldview, grounded in historical and cultural traditions, and not just biomedical peer reviewed articles.”

The nine-week course Diversity, Culture and Social Justice in Psychedelics (May 3-June 28), will examine how psychedelics and the psychedelic field are influenced by structural bias, power and privilege, social justice, queerness, gender identity, Indigenous practices and more. Faculty include, among others, Dr. Monnica T. Williams, Canada Research Chair in Mental Health Disparities; Dr. Darron T. Smith, Professor of Sociology at the University of Memphis; and Dr. NiCole T. Buchanan, Professor of Psychology at Michigan State University and Clinical Director and Founder of Alliance Psychological Associate.

The Science of Psychedelic Healing (July 9-August 9), will bridge cutting-edge psychedelic science in western research and medical practice with psychedelic use in recreational, spiritual and Indigenous contexts. Classes will focus on substances such as cannabis, psilocybin, MDMA, and 5-MeO-DMT, and will also look at adverse effects and drug reactions, neurobiological mechanisms and therapeutic opportunities. Faculty include Dr. Gul Dölen (Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine), family and integrative health practitioner Dr. Harry McIlroy, Dr. Kelan Thomas, a Bay Area psychiatric pharmacist and associate professor, and Dr. Natalie Gukasyan, a psychiatrist and Assistant Professor at Johns Hopkins University, among others.

The one-time workshop, Reducing the Impact of Bias on Therapy, Education and Training, convenes July 27. Led by NiCole T. Buchanan, PhD, this participatory session will explore ways implicit bias affects personal and professional interactions, with a special focus on education, business profitability, and client, customer, and patient care. This workshop is designed particularly for providers and educators in medical and mental health settings, both formal and informal.

Rounding out the series, the 16-week Roots of Psychedelic Therapy: Shamanism, Ritual and Traditional Uses of Sacred Plants, runs August 16-November 29. Lectures, taught by an international team featuring members of Chacruna Institute and its affiliates, will explore topics including psychedelic plants and conservation, sacred plants and shamanism, Mazatec uses of psilocybin, peyote and the Native American Church, traditional and contemporary uses of iboga and ibogaine, the effects of psychedelic tourism, ethics in plant medicine circles and much more. Faculty include Joseph Mays, MSc, Program Director of Chacruna’s Indigenous Reciprocity Initiative of the Americas; ethnobotanist, medical anthropologist and filmmaker Glenn H. Shepard Jr.; Chacruna Executive Director Bia Labate; Associate Director of Chacruna Latinoamérica in Mexico Diana Negrín; Associate Director of Chacruna in Canada Erika Dyck; and Attorney and Founder of Calyx Law Graham Pechenik.

“As with all of Chacruna Institute’s work, we are at the cutting edge, and the field generally follows,” notes Labate. “We hope to see you in our classes!”

Courses offer continuing education credits for professionals including mental health therapists and RNs. Bundling all four courses gives you membership access to all of Chacruna. Spots are limited; reserve yours here. Scholarships are available.

Grateful Labs emerges from stealth, launching first-of-its-kind Gratitude Wall, A Street-Art Installation & Wellness Festival in Tel Aviv

Today, Grateful Labs emerges from stealth mode by launching its first ever “Gratitude Wall” focused on elevating well-being and improving mental health by creating a two-week wellness festival around a physical art installation in Tel Aviv’s central Habima Square. With the COVID-19 pandemic exacerbating record levels of depression, anxiety, and loneliness during the past few years, The Gratitude Wall was created to lift our spirits through two weeks of gratitude, art, music, and wellness practices. It will be live in Tel Aviv’s Habima Square from March 25th, 2022, to April 9th, 2022, with future walls to come in other global locations.

The Gratitude Wall is a visual street-art installation, as well as an invitation for us to celebrate what we are grateful for in our lives, and to remind us of that gratitude, as a way of life, unites us all and strengthens our social fabric. The landmark NIH gratitude study in 2010 helped establish gratitude practices as a scientifically proven method of improving mental, emotional, and physical health on an ongoing basis.

Throughout the installation of The Gratitude Wall, there is a full schedule of community-based events and activities including: live music, yoga, meditations, sound healing, and a host of other wellness-based practices. After this installation is complete, the wall will be turned into an NFT and become part of the foundation of the virtual House of Gratitude – a metaverse-based gratitude-themed healing center, accessible to those who have written on the wall & have claimed a fractional share of the NFT using their digital wallet. As Grateful Labs rolls out additional walls, the # of members in virtual House of Gratitude is expected to grow alongside the depth and breadth of content & experiences provided.

“Our entire Grateful Labs team is thrilled to help us transition from the bleakness of a pandemic reality to a happier, healthier time,” said Max Marine, CEO and Founder, Grateful Labs. “We’re using modern technology to build a global community of gratitude enthusiasts who motivate and inspire one another to focus on the good in our lives and leverage a variety of wellness practices to help us recognize and express appreciation for what we normally take for granted.”

Grateful Labs was founded in January 2022 as a response to the exploding global mental health crisis. The company plans to build a comprehensive portfolio of gratitude-based products and services, including a Grateful Giraffes NFT collection & eCommerce line, a subscription-based gratitude training platform, live workshops, events, retreats, public art installations, and to donate 10% of revenues to a community-run non-profit called The Grateful DAO.

Grateful Labs is supporting its mission by creating Grateful Giraffe NFTs, a digital art collection that it will sell on World Giraffe Day (June 21st). Grateful Giraffe NFT holders will get access to exclusive content & unique experiences and connect to a global community of gratitude enthusiasts passionate about making the world a more grateful place!
