Current Meditation™ Opens New Meditation Studio in Houston

We want to help change as many lives as possible and take this brand national.

Current Meditation™, a studio that provides fully guided meditation classes and combines elements of ancient and modern practices to create a unique in-person experience, is now open in Houston. After completing a successful soft open on April 25, this studio marks the first location to open since the relaunch of the brand under new ownership.

Located in the heart of Houston in West University (5186 Buffalo Speedway), Current Meditation offers proprietary guided, harmonic sound, and aerial meditations that combine proven practices with scientific innovations, creating a transformative experience that allows guests to maximize the benefits of meditation so that they may live a happier, healthier, and more fulfilling life. Within close proximity to Downtown, Greenway Plaza, and the Texas Medical Center, the location was strategically chosen by Current Meditation’s leadership team in hopes of also helping the community’s working professionals that don’t have access to daily mindfulness-based meditation practices. The centrally located studio allows for members to attend a meditation class before work, during lunch, or even on the way home, and gives them a place to rest, recharge, and return to their day more focused and present than before.

“After much anticipation amid the pandemic and delay due to supply chain challenges, we’re excited to open the studio and introduce an unmatched meditation experience that does all of the work for you,” said Neerav Shah, the CEO of Current Meditation. “We are eager to share the enormous benefits of meditation in an approachable format that is perfect for anyone looking to manage stress, increase self-awareness, sharpen their focus, reduce negative emotions, improve productivity, and more. We want to help change as many lives as possible and take this brand national.”

The experience at Current Meditation offers tranquility for beginners, experienced meditators, and everyone else in between. The studio is designed to deliver a meditation unlike any other as it features soundproof walls, state-of-the-art lighting, neuroscience-based classes free of ritualistic references, and a calming decompression space equipped with a complimentary tea station. In a beautifully designed studio featuring the comfort of both floating silk hammocks and grounded positions, Current Meditation’s skilled guides lead an optimal meditation that no app or virtually guided meditation program can compete with.

“The elements we have integrated into our meditations each have a scientific purpose. The instruments, for example, when heard live, actually downshift your brain waves into a deeper, more restorative frequency. This allows for maximum neuroplasticity to occur within the brain. Each of the techniques and exercises we use create an experience that takes the work out of meditation, allowing us to strengthen our members’ mental muscles with no effort from them other than coming to the studio and enjoying a relaxing class,” said Ronak Shah, COO of Current Meditation.

The sibling partners have spent years conducting research, engaging experts, and studying the science behind neuroplasticity to create the most optimal and beneficial meditation experience. Coming from high-stress law and banking backgrounds, they saw the need for a place that focuses on mental health, brain fitness, and restoration. Current Meditation’s neuroscience-focused approach supports the many studies that illustrate how meditation can change the brain at a physical level. Consistent meditation replaces unproductive neural pathways with more productive ones so that people may react to stress triggers in a healthier, more constructive way, and transform the specific areas of their life that they want to improve – such as relationships, work, happiness, and even physical health.

Current Meditation offers affordable and flexible classes for its members to help establish a routine that works for them. From singular drop-in classes to unlimited memberships, Current Meditation has a variety of plans to choose from. Anyone interested is encouraged to reach out to schedule a first free class and take advantage of soft opening specials available for a limited time. The studio’s full schedule will have a wide range of class times from morning to night, seven days a week.

Pond Lehocky Giordano Provides Guidance for Attorneys Filing Disability Claims When They Take Time Off for Mental Health

Attorneys weighing whether to take a leave of absence to work on their mental health issues should also weigh whether to file a disability claim with their disability insurer, but what attorneys don’t know about that process could come back to haunt them.

Pond Lehocky Giordano LLP, the largest workers’ compensation and disability law firm in Pennsylvania, recently published guidance for attorneys who take a leave of absence from their employer to address a mental health issue and are considering filing a disability claim in connection with that leave.

The firm’s guidance came in the form of an article recently published by partner Michael J. Parker, in The Legal Intelligencer, a daily newspaper serving the Pennsylvania legal market, titled “Seeking Disability Coverage for Mental Health Issues? Three Things to Know.” The article, available here, walks through three things attorneys need to be aware of when contemplating filing a disability claim in connection with taking a leave of absence to work on their mental health.

“Mental health has long been a problem in the legal industry, but there’s a concern that more attorneys are struggling with mental health issues today as demand for legal services remains high and more attorneys feel increasingly isolated while working nonstop from their homes and away from their colleagues,” said Mr. Parker. “Attorneys weighing whether to take a leave of absence to work on their mental health issues should also weigh whether to file a disability claim with their disability insurer, but what attorneys don’t know about that process could come back to haunt them.”

According to Mr. Parker, attorneys contemplating filing a disability claim in connection with taking time off from their employer to work on their mental health need to keep in mind that:

  • The disability application process requires humility, vulnerability, and attorneys getting out of their own way;
  • The post-denial litigation process will be shaped by an attorney’s disability insurance; and
  • Their insurance might only provide two years’ worth of disability coverage.

“There’s a lot about the disability application process that could be difficult for attorneys to come to grips with, such as needing to admit their mental health issues are getting in the way of their ability to serve their clients, and that they might have long ago signed away their right to prove to a jury that their disability insurer wrongly denied their claim,” said Mr. Parker. “But if they can anticipate some of the obstacles they might encounter during the process, they will hopefully be able to successfully navigate around them.”

Tools to Transform Emotional Stress, Anxiety, Depression and Alienation Will Be Taught at Leonard Perlmutter’s New Foundation Course Beginning Tuesday, May 3, 2022

Leonard Perlmutter, Founder and Director of The American Meditation Institute

“Just as you can certainly transform water into ice when needed, you can also transform the negative energy of worry and anger into more beneficial, life-affirming forms.” – Leonard Perlmutter (Ram Lev)

To reduce burnout symptoms experienced from financial worries, inflation, the ongoing COVID pandemic, political incivility, and the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Leonard Perlmutter, Yoga Scientist and Founder of the American Meditation Institute, will teach a special six-session Foundation Course for optimizing the wisdom of the Conscience May 3 – June 6, 2022 Tuesday evenings 6:30 to 8:30pm ET on Zoom. This one-of-a-kind, time-tested program, which will offer easy-to-use tools to transform negative and poisonous emotional energy into beneficial, life-affirming assets, is open to the general public, and has been certified by the American Medical Association to provide attending medical physicians 18 CME (Continuing Medical Education) credit hours.

According to Leonard Perlmutter, “Our modern American culture now faces a golden opportunity to go beyond its impoverished rigidity, superstition, blind customs and dogma to attain the spiritual and philosophical wealth necessary to solve all of life’s challenges. Today, a new reliance on our Conscience as our guide can make it possible for each of us to access and integrate intuitive wisdom, and to establish greater personal security, creativity and peace of mind. As we experiment with the profound gifts of the Conscience to determine our thoughts, words and deeds, we are destined to become both prophets and beneficiaries of our own Super Conscious Wisdom.”

The Foundation Course begins with an understanding of the Four Functions of the Mind, as described in Perlmutter’s new book YOUR CONSCIENCE. Taught continuously since 1996, this unique and time-tested curriculum teaches individuals how to relieve stress and burnout, strengthen the body’s immune system, and experience increased security, self-confidence, optimism and peace of mind, while establishing a rewarding work-life balance. Perlmutter’s Foundation Course syllabus incorporates the following Mind/Body Medicine components: a systematic AMI Meditation procedure, meditation-in-action, easy-gentle exercises, the use of breath as medicine, an understanding of Ayurvedic medicine, and the practical power of prayer. Each weekly session combines the best of ancient Eastern wisdom with the practicality of modern Western medical science.

Mr. Perlmutter’s books, [YOUR CONSCIENCE], as well as The Heart and Science of Yoga® have been endorsed by medical pioneers Dean Ornish MD, Bernie Siegel MD and Larry Dossey MD. Leonard has taught workshops on the benefits of the Conscience, mantra meditation and Yoga Science at the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Kaiser Permanente, numerous medical schools, “The New York Times” forum on Yoga, and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point Association of Graduates.

In 2008, AMI conducted a retrospective case study of participants who previously completed and practiced the material taught in Leonard Perlmutter’s Foundation Course. The study found that students experienced the following positive, reproducible, long-term health-promoting changes: lowered blood pressure, lowered heart rate, reduced cholesterol levels, decreased chest pain, diminished or extinguished acute and chronic pain, weight loss, increased breathing capacity, increased exercise capacity, improved quality and quantity of sleep, improved energy levels, increased creative capacity, diminishment of migraine headaches, significant reductions in stress and fear, elimination of irritable bowel syndrome, a general sense of happiness and optimism in all facets of life for every participant.

According to recent course graduate, Donald Starzinski MD,”As a Neurologist with a keen interest in Integrative Health and Wellness, I would strongly recommend the “Foundation Course ” to both physicians and non-physicians. It was life-changing for me, both in my personal and professional life.”

Aaron Jones to Support Camp on April 23 for Military Youth as Part of his Family Foundation’s “Freedom Is” Program

News Image

“Mental health is so important, and my brother and I want these kids to feel like they can express their feelings and talk with other children in similar situations, so they know they are not alone.” – Aaron Jones

Green Bay Packers Running Back Aaron Jones, Saskatchewan Roughriders Linebacker Alvin Jones Jr. and their A&A All The Way Foundation are excited to announce they’ve partnered with the Wisconsin National Guard to support a free camp for over 100 children and their family members who serve.

In honor of April being the Month of the Military Child, the camp will be held on April 23, 2022 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Please note, this event is not open to the public.

The camp will feature activities encouraging community, friendship, emotional support, and resilience. The camp also will include photo opportunities and a Q&A session with the Jones brothers about their experience growing up in a military family. Their parents served in the military for 56 combined years.

“I was in second grade when my mom and dad were deployed to Iraq. I can relate to many of the struggles and hardships these kids are going through,” said Alvin Jones Jr.

Aaron Jones added, “Mental health is so important, and my brother and I want these kids to feel like they can express their feelings and talk with other children in similar situations, so they know they are not alone.”

The A&A All The Way Foundation’s “Freedom Is” program, sponsored by Old National Bank, also will be continuing in April. The program features stories of military families from Wisconsin and El Paso, Texas. Each month, the foundation will release a video on its social media channels and website to recognize the sacrifices children in military families make, and what freedom means to them.

The “Freedom Is” program began in June of 2021 with the first video of the series featuring the Kramer family from West Bend, Wisconsin. In 2021, the foundation shared five military family stories and gifted each family a joy-filled experience, such as a private movie screening for their family and friends.
