mPulse Mobile COVID-19 Tool Kit Programs

mPulse has sent out over 22 million COVID-19 messages across SMS, email, IVR and mobileweb.

mPulse Mobile has collaborated with more than 20 healthcare organizations to support communication to patients and members about COVID-19. Since the pandemic was announced by WHO on March 11th, mPulse has sent out over 22 million COVID-19 messages across SMS, email, IVR and mobileweb.

To enable rapid roll-out of important communications, mPulse partnered with leading healthcare organizations, including some of the largest plans and IDNs in the country, to develop a COVID-19 Strategic Communications Too Kit that helps solve the evolving communication and engagement requirements of the COVID-19 pandemic. The tool kit features a suite of configurable programs focused on educating members about the ever-changing situation and informing them about care access, with some programs available to launch as quick as two days.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has crystalized the importance of mobile channels for healthcare organizations to communicate with their members and patients. We have seen rapidly evolving needs over the first 3 weeks of the pandemic, from education on infection prevention measures to raising awareness of telehealth and mail order pharmacy and the importance of using conversational AI to automatically respond to member requests to provide relief to call centers,” said Chris Nicholson, CEO of mPulse Mobile. “With mobile communications, new programs can be switched on in a matter of days, even hours. This allows our partners to keep their populations informed with the most current, vital, and actionable information.”

The mPulse COVID-19 Tool Kit includes programs designed to communicate with a broad range of demographics and multicultural populations, supporting dozens of languages. As the pandemic continues to present unexpected challenges, new programs and capabilities are added to the tool kit to address each challenge, build health literacy and change behavior.

“We are anticipating and responding to the psychosocial impacts of the pandemic with new programs to support those needs and to build resilience in the midst of deep uncertainty,” said Rena Brar Prayaga, Director of Behavioral Data Science at mPulse Mobile. “As social distancing and staying at home pose physical and mental health challenges, we are rolling out new programs to provide support to members. We are also paying close attention to the impact of social isolation on those who live alone, particularly seniors, and providing messaging to mitigate loneliness and anxiety during this time with tips and strategies to remain emotionally connected to friends and loved ones.”

The COVID-19 Strategic Communications tool kit is a snapshot of the mPulse omni-channel communication solutions that support nearly 100 healthcare organizations. As the COVID-19 pandemic continually evolves, the tool kit is designed to launch quickly and adapt over time.

CISCRP will be initiating the 2nd annual Medical Hero Appreci-a-thon virtual fitness challenge to bring the global clinical research community together to express their appreciation for all “Medical Heroes” – medical and healthcare professionals, researchers and study volunteers.

On April 15, the Center for Information & Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) will be initiating the 2nd annual Medical Hero Appreci-a-thon to bring the global clinical research community together to express their appreciation for all “Medical Heroes” – medical and healthcare professionals, researchers and study volunteers. CISCRP invites the public to participate in this free month-long virtual fitness opportunity.

Participants can share the distance they will go to recognize Medical Heroes by tracking any form of exercise—cycling, running, elliptical, weightlifting, sit-ups, yoga, stair climbing, pet-walking and other physical activities—on the Appreci-a-thon portal. Donations received in support of the virtual fitness challenge provide educational programs designed to help patients and their families navigate the clinical research process.

“Last year, nearly 400 people across industry, research, advocacy, and patient communities participated globally in this virtual appreciation event and the spirit of support and teamwork was inspiring,” said event organizer Justine Holleran. “This year we’re hoping to see an even larger community participating in this virtual fitness challenge to raise awareness about clinical research and its importance to public health.”

“Clinical research education and awareness is even more critical today,” added Ellyn Getz, Associate Director, Development and Community Engagement, at CISCRP. “Medical, healthcare and research professionals are working tirelessly to provide care and treatment. And patients, their families and the public are seeking information and hope. Join us in showing your support and appreciation for the many dedicated ‘Medical Heroes’ around the world by participating in this virtual fitness challenge!”

GoParrot Founder Addresses Food Safety Standards During COVID-19

“These guidelines are the elements that have been missing throughout the COVID-19 conversation,” said Nissim. “And where there’s uncertainty, there is concern.”

Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, there hasn’t yet been a clear guide for restaurants regarding food safety standards and practices. GoParrot ( https://www.goparrot.ai/) founder Yaniv Nissim has stepped up to the plate to address this gap. Nissim, along with doctors who specialize in virus control and food safety, has created new standards for delivering food during this time of COVID-19 so that consumers can feel reassured when they order in.

Guidelines collaborators include Nissim, whose company provides technology that supports touchless food delivery, as well as a PhD and College Professor, who has published over 50 papers in the area of food safety, and the Chief of Infectious Disease at a Major Academic Medical Center.

“These guidelines are the elements that have been missing throughout the COVID-19 conversation,” said Nissim. “And where there’s uncertainty, there is concern.”

According to Nissim and his panel, food and food containers have not been identified as ways to get or transfer the virus. It’s the person-to-person contact that is the culprit.

Furthermore, as Nissim explains, “as a matter of course, restaurants already follow regulations put in place by the FDA, CDC, and USDA designed to keep people healthy. These include proper handwashing and frequent cleaning of food preparation surfaces. But at times like these there is the opportunity to go above and beyond.”

Extra precautions that Nissim and his experts are recommending include:

By the restaurant:

  • Requiring anyone with COVID-19 symptoms to stay at home, out of the kitchen, and out of delivery vehicles
  • Going beyond cleaning and sanitizing food preparation surfaces to cleaning and disinfecting them with agents proven to kill the COVID-19 virus on contact
  • Asking delivery people to leave orders on the porch or outside the front door and then texting to let customers know they are there—this touchless transfer means that all menu charges and tips must be pre-paid online in advance by credit card
  • Having delivery personnel carry and use hand sanitizer between each and every drop off

By the customer:

  • Transferring food received from its packaging to a plate
  • Throwing away the packaging, the bag, and everything inside the bag
  • And most importantly, washing hands with soap and water after unpacking the delivery—and right before eating

Nissim is making the guidelines available to restaurants in the form of a certification badge for their websites to not only demonstrate the restaurant’s commitment to these new COVID-19 Food Safety Standards, but also give customers a few easy steps to take on their end as well.

About GoParrot

GoParrot provides high-end ordering technology to restaurant chains that do not have the capabilities or funds to develop it on their own and don’t want to pay the exorbitant fees to the popular delivery apps and companies. In addition, GoParrot allows restaurants to keep their analytics and customer relations, bringing the restaurants and their customers closer together through exceptional customer service. The company currently works directly with hundreds of restaurant brands, with access to over 400,000 restaurants through Square and Toast and delivery integrations with national and local partners including Postmates, Doordash, and Relay.

University of Washington PA Freshman Wins SignatureCare Emergency Center’s 2020 Spring Semester Scholarship

SignatureCare Emergency Center, Odessa, TX

SignatureCare Emergency Center, Odessa, TX

I am very proud to have won this scholarship which I will be using to pay for my tuition. The scholarship will allow me to reach my dream of becoming a Physician Assistant.

Caitlin Richardson, a University of Washington MEDEX Physician Assistant (PA) program freshman has won SignatureCare Emergency Center’s 2020 Spring Semester Scholarship.

The $1,000 scholarship, awarded biannually to U.S. students who show passion and commitment to the medical and healthcare field, is aimed at helping the students pay tuition and other college-related expenses.

Rhonda Abbe, Director of Operations for SignatureCare Emergency Center, praised Richardson’s commitment to underserved communities.

“It’s inspiring to see her commitment and dedication to meeting the healthcare needs of those in the rural communities. She could easily have chosen to go into other branches of medicine but she saw a need and decided to fill it. That is admirable,” Abbe said.

Richardson said she decided to become a Physician Assistant after working alongside dedicated and passionate healthcare providers in rural Alaska.

She singled out Dr. Kathleen Todd of Valdez, Alaska, and Dr. Helene Eliassen of Anchorage, Alaska as her role models, and the forces behind her decision to become a PA.

“They incorporate characteristics that are important to me. I had the privilege of shadowing Dr. Helene Eliassen over the course of two summers. Helene is very personable as she makes every effort to understand each patient’s unique history. I value her open-mindedness and the way she treats everyone with the same level of respect,” Richardson said.

“Working alongside such dedicated and passionate medical providers in remote Alaska opened my eyes. My remote medical experience motivated me to grow beyond the medical laboratory into the role of a healthcare provider. For me, the decision to become a physician assistant combines the best of both worlds.

“Rural providers work in primary care where they get to follow their patients through all aspects of their medical journey, but they also staff the emergency room where they can be at the bedside when patients are at their worst,” she added.

Richardson said she was proud to have won the 2020 spring semester scholarship.

“I am very proud to have won this scholarship which I will be using to pay for my tuition. The scholarship will allow me to reach my dream of becoming a Physician Assistant.”

“After PA school, I would like to focus on wilderness medicine as well as leading search and rescue missions. I aspire to work as a PA in a critical access hospital, providing a mix of primary care, inpatient care, and emergency medicine services to remote locations,” she added.

Plano primary care office expands COVID-19 testing to community

The community is taking this seriously, and so are we.

All individuals experiencing coronavirus symptoms can receive COVID-19 testing at Village Health Partners in Plano at a drive-through testing center beginning March 30.

Village Health Partners was one of the first testing centers in Texas and began public testing for first responders, medical workers and high-risk residents on March 16. As of March 27, they tested more than 400 patients and discovered more than 30 positive tests, a significant percentage of the total cases in Collin County.

“Plano is being hit particularly hard right now because of how integrated the community and businesses are throughout North Texas,” said Keith Eppich, Village Health Partners vice president and physician. “We have a strong relationship with the City of Plano and have provided testing to their first responders through a concierge level of care, including prioritization of appointments. We see them virtually to triage their symptoms, evaluate them, and test them the same day, making the process seamless. Healthcare workers and first responders don’t have the luxury of staying at home. We have to have these individuals to run the city and to assist us all during this pandemic.”

Village Health Partners is also supporting the city of Plano on its response to the COVID-19 pandemic, by advising on the city of Plano’s response to employees that test positive for COVID-19. Together, Village Health Partners and the city developed protocols and thresholds for testing and devised a return-to-work strategy.

“The city of Plano’s response to this has been extraordinary in not only helping to flatten the curve, but also in helping keep our community safe,” Chief Administrative Officer Patrick Figures said. “We are honored to serve our local municipality, their front-line team and Plano’s residents through our partnership.”

Village Health Partners also extended an offer for pandemic management advising to other nearby cities. In early April, Village Health Partners will expand the number of testing locations to further support the demand of testing in North Texas.

“Village Health Partners is proud to serve our community by providing testing to those who really need it,” Figures said. “We are fortunate to be able to provide peace of mind to people who are especially impacted.”

To qualify for a test, individuals must be screened through a telehealth visit and receive orders from a physician. Tests are currently conducted at a drive-through clinic on site at the Independence Medical Village location, located at 8080 Independence Parkway in Plano. All testing is completed outdoors to minimize exposure and to limit the spread of COIVD-19.

“The community is taking this seriously, and so are we,” Eppich said. “We want to ensure that everyone is safe – from the patients in their cars to our team members and other patients. As always, health and safety are our top priorities.”

Expert Tooth Extractions in Omaha, NE Offered by Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants

Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants Offers Tooth Extractions in Omaha, NE

The doctors were able to work together well to remove my wisdom tooth. I feel great today. They took such great care of me and gave me a personal touch.

Patients with severe tooth concerns can receive expert tooth extraction in Omaha, NE from the team of oral and maxillofacial surgeons at Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants. When teeth are damaged, diseased, or compromising a patient’s overall health, extraction is often recommended to alleviate discomfort and restore health. Oral surgeons have the experience, education and tools necessary to perform complex tooth extractions, including wisdom tooth removal.

“I didn’t think I needed to take my wisdom teeth out at all since there was no pain, but learning that no pain was going to lead to something far more severe was terrifying,” says Wayne, a Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants patient who received a wisdom tooth extraction. “The doctors were able to work together well to remove my wisdom tooth. I feel great today. They took such great care of me and gave me a personal touch.”

For oral surgeons like Drs. Jerome Wees, John Wewel and Benjamin Anderson, tooth extraction is a routine procedure. The doctors are able to handle complex cases with safe, predictable results due to their years of additional dental education and practice experience. Often, oral surgeons are chosen to remove impacted wisdom teeth. Wisdom teeth are one of the most difficult surgical extractions because of the position these teeth are in. Many times, they are only partially erupted and both gum and bone tissue will need to be removed to gain access to the wisdom tooth. When patients choose an oral surgeon, they can expect results that do not harm surrounding tissue or nerves and that lead to a quicker and more successful post-operative healing time.

The doctors at Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants can prepare the jawbone after tooth extraction to allow for proper healing and tooth replacement solutions. When a tooth is removed, it leaves behind an empty socket where the root once was. Without preserving this area, jawbone deterioration can occur, which often leads to shifting of surrounding teeth, an altered bite and an aged facial appearance. Drs. Wees, Wewel and Anderson offer bone grafting to preserve the area after extraction. When the jawbone has been restored to proper volume, the tooth can be replaced with a dental implant.

For tooth extraction procedures, Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants offers dental sedation. This helps block sensations of discomfort as the tooth is removed and helps relax patients. With dental sedation, most patients report only feeling a slight pressure at the site of extraction. Sedation is also helpful for those who need dental treatment but experience dental anxiety. Sedation calms nerves and allows nervous or anxious patients to sit comfortably in the chair during tooth extraction or any other treatment.

Those in need of any tooth extraction including wisdom tooth removal in Omaha, NE are encouraged to visit Midwest Oral Surgery & Dental Implants. To schedule a consultation with these highly experienced oral surgeons, call 402-397-7777 or visit http://www.midwestoms.com.

Volunteer Initiative Rooms Against Covid Mobilizes Properties to Support Relocated Healthcare Professionals

News Image

“The goal of Rooms Against Covid is to support healthcare professionals with convenient access to accommodation during this pandemic. Thus, alleviating the burden of them having to share accommodation with families and friends and risk exposing their loved ones to COVID-19,”

With Covid-19 on the rise in Europe, tech startups and lodging associations have joined forces to launch the non-profit Rooms Against Covid initiative. The team of over 3000 volunteers from across multiple companies have mobilized properties to support relocated healthcare professionals with complimentary accommodation.

“While many have the privilege to self-isolate from COVID-19, healthcare professionals continue to put their lives on the line to protect the health of the general population worldwide,” said Pedro Colaco, CEO at Guestcentric Systems, partnering company in the project.

“The increased risk of catching COVID-19 means that thousands of healthcare professionals are focused on protecting their families from exposure. The increased demand on healthcare services combined with extended periods of separation from loved ones can make an already stressful situation even more challenging,” he continued.

“The truth is that we cannot stop COVID-19 if we don’t look after our healthcare professionals who are in the front line fighting the virus, first”. added Tiago Araujo, Co-Founder of HiJiffy, partnering company in the initiative.

“The goal of Rooms Against Covid is to support healthcare professionals with convenient access to accommodation during this pandemic. Thus, alleviating the burden of them having to share accommodation with families and friends and risk exposing their loved ones to COVID-19,” he added.

“Demand is high, as is to be expected, and we have already received high volumes of reservations within hours of launching the platform. Therefore we need more properties to open their doors,” Colaco added. “We can only accept hotels licensed apartments due to insurance and liability issues. We will need full hotels for this use, as we cannot risk cross-contamination from healthcare professionals and guests.”

“We are starting in Portugal where our largest team sits. Our goal is to expand to other countries quickly, as we see that this is a global issue.”

If you are a licensed property owner that would like to participate in the project or a travel industry professional that wants to help launch this project in your country please, please visit our website here.

About Rooms Against Covid

The Rooms Against Covid partnership is central to the wider Tech4Covid19 initiative, launched by 120 different tech startups and companies across Portugal in less than 48 hours. The team of over 3,000 volunteers has mobilized under one common goal: to unite in the development of technological solutions that help the population to overcome the challenge of COVID-19.
