Welcome to the World’s Capital of Cannabis Culture the Emerald Village West Hollywood

[ad_1]

News Image

“From the first cannabis café in the United States to entertainment and art venues enhanced by cannabis, West Hollywood’s Emerald Village is home the most unique and creative cannabis experiences in the world,” said Scott Schmidt, Emerald Village Executive Director.

West Hollywood, the epicenter of the world’s entertainment capital and a city famous for the iconic Sunset Strip, is adding a new moniker to its global reputation. With the launch of Emerald Village West Hollywood, the “Creative City” will also be known as the “Emerald Village,” the world’s new center of cannabis culture. The Emerald Village will draw tourists and locals alike to experience innovative cannabis attractions including culinary, wellness, nightlife, entertainment, and art.

The Emerald Village West Hollywood, comprised of a board of industry experts representing cannabis businesses exclusively in West Hollywood, is helping define a new level of style, civility, safety, and joy around cannabis use.

“From the first cannabis café in the United States to entertainment and art venues enhanced by cannabis, West Hollywood’s Emerald Village is home the most unique and creative cannabis experiences in the world,” said Scott Schmidt, Emerald Village Executive Director. “The Emerald Village is ready to welcome travelers who will appreciate our imaginative cannabis experiences alongside our iconic LGBT nightlife, entertainment, world-class hotels, award-winning restaurants and strong sense of community.”

“Emerald Village businesses stand on their own unique merits, but our cooperative, City-wide focus on new cannabis experiences makes West Hollywood the first choice for global cannabis tourism,” Emerald Village Board President Jake Stevens added. “West Hollywood historically normalized safe cannabis consumption so it is fitting that our City is ushering in a new era of personalized, elevated cannabis experiences across the entertainment and wellness spectrums.”

“West Hollywood’s imaginative entrepreneurs have led the way to reinvent how our residents and visitors experience cannabis,” added Lauren Meister, Mayor of the City of West Hollywood. “I look forward to Emerald Village promoting and highlighting the best that West Hollywood has to offer and embracing our city’s values of creativity, collaboration, and social equity.”

Current member organizations of Emerald Village West Hollywood include Alternative Herbal Health Services (AHHS), The Artist Tree, CALMA, LA Patients and Caregivers Group (LAPCG), MedMen, and Zen Healing Collective. As a representative based organization, Emerald Village West Hollywood makes it a mission to build community by promoting understanding of cannabis regulations, consumer safety and advocacy for cannabis decriminalization and social justice, while spotlighting the allure Emerald Village businesses possess in reinventing the cannabis experience.

Since the AIDS crisis of the 1980’s, West Hollywood has been at the forefront of the movement to legalize cannabis in the United States. Local pioneers like Don Duncan and Jason Beck (owners of the LAPCG and AHHS dispensaries) paved the way for medical dispensaries to open and are now guiding the Emerald Village as board members. Following the passage of Proposition 64 in 2016, West Hollywood created five new license types: for adult use, medical dispensaries, on-site consumption lounges with and without smoking, and delivery.

Today, West Hollywood boasts one of the highest rates of cannabis dispensaries per capita in the world, is home to one of the first cannabis retail stores to open in the state of California and is home to some of California’s leading medicinal and wellness cannabis businesses. West Hollywood is also known for being the first city in the United States to open a cannabis café and consumption lounge.

Visitors will encounter a variety of refined cannabis experiences in the Emerald Village including social lounges that feature curated teas and plant forward menus, edible dining with live music and art, personalized wellness rituals (bodywork, acupuncture, nutrition therapy) and integrative physician services at cannabis wellness studios. Retail businesses offer in-store art exhibits by international and local artists alike, sustainably produced cannabis products, bespoke VIP services and a wide range of high-quality pleasure products designed to help you explore the enjoyment that can be found in West Hollywood’s vibrant (and safe) adult scene.

The first campaign from the Emerald Village West Hollywood “Welcome to the Emerald Village” will launch in the near term with member organizations partnering with curated social media influencers to highlight what makes Emerald Village different than any other cannabis destination in the world.

Follow the campaign by following @emeraldvillageweho and #emeraldvillageweho on Instagram.

Locals and tourists alike can plan their cannabis adventures in West Hollywood through the Emerald Village website. The site features the latest updates on cannabis news, events, businesses, and attractions with an integrated map to discover what the world’s cannabis capital has to offer. Cannabis businesses within the Emerald Village also make cannabis access safe, easy, and convenient with scheduled or same day delivery within 60 minutes or less and 2.5% less delivery tax than other dispensaries located in the city of Los Angeles.

Ready, Set, Gold! Launches 2021-2022 School Year Program Hosted by Top Olympians and Paralympians

[ad_1]

We are proud of our collaboration with the educators as we developed the topics and curriculum over the years into what it is today. This compliments the valuable SEL lesson plans put forth by each district and, as always, we look forward to connecting with students–which for us, is the best part.

Ready, Set, Gold! (RSG!), the 501(c)3 community program that matches Olympic and Paralympic athletes with schools to promote fitness and life-long healthy habits to students of all grade levels, has launched a monthly virtual series for the 2021-2022 school year featuring tips and firsthand advice from Olympic and Paralympic athletes. Each 30-minute video covers a thematic topic focused on evidence-based physical activity and social emotional learning, and after Oct. 17, a new video will be released the first Sunday of every month through June 5. This will allow students to work on the curriculum goals in each video over time and notice their progress as a result. Registration is free at ReadySetGold.net.

The Ready, Set, Gold!’s Virtual Series kicks off with two-time Olympic swimmer Jordan Wilimovsky (October 17) who is hosting the first video entitled “Balance and Embracing Challenges”, and will be followed by two-time Olympic volleyball player Donald Suxho who will lead the lesson “Be Present and Mindful, Fitness: Strength” on November 7.

Jordan Wilmovsky (Malibu, Calif.) – Malibu native Wilmovsky is a two-time Olympian and three-time World Championship medalist (1 gold, 2 silvers). The Northwestern University alum started swimming at age 9 after he was declined admission to a summer camp due to his inability to swim a 1:50 in the 100-yard freestyle in prior years. He went on to play water polo and surfed before finding his way back to swimming.

Donald Suxho (Huntington Beach, Calif.) – Suxho grew up in Albania until the age of 18, when his country became overrun with war/chaos and he could no longer play sports with friends. Determination kept him practicing (alone most of the time) until he deemed it was too dangerous to stay in Albania, and moved to the US. Suxho worked multiple jobs to support himself and tried out for multiple volleyball clubs, and ended up earning a full scholarship at USC. From there, he went on to become a two-time Olympic athlete.

Additional confirmed athletes participating in this year’s RSG!’s Virtual Series include Mackenzie Soldan (Paralympic Tennis Wheelchair), Natalia Mayara (Paralympic Tennis Wheelchair), David Garza (Paralympic Soccer) and Tri Bourne (Olympic Beach Volleyball). For the most updated schedule and athlete lineup, visit ReadySetGold.net. Additionally, RSG! is thrilled to return to in-person visits as part of their program, subject to change depending on CDC recommendations and tailored to the preferences of each school and athlete mentors.

Thanks to the support of the Foundation for Global Sports Development & Sidewinder Films, Ready, Set, Gold!, every video in the athlete-led series features an activity portion highlighting the core fitness fundamentals of endurance, flexibility, balance and strength training as well as thematic units around topics including goal-setting, perseverance and leadership. Brought to life by the real, personal experiences of RSG!’s Olympic and Paralympic mentors, the content supports teachers as they work to enhance engagement for students.

“After 13 years of in-person appearances and two virtual series in 2020, Ready, Set, Gold! is now thrilled to offer a blend of both experiences over the span of the 2021-2022 school year. This year, our Olympians and Paralympians will take a deeper dive into the social emotional learning topic they are leading, which will allow more time for the students to absorb the lessons and to apply them over a longer period of time,” said John Naber, Chairman of Ready, Set, Gold!. “We are proud of our collaboration with the educators as we developed the topics and curriculum over the years into what it is today. This compliments the valuable SEL lesson plans put forth by each district and, as always, we look forward to connecting with students – which for us, is the best part.”

The Foundation for Global Sports Development (GSD) and Sidewinder Films serve as long-time champions of Ready, Set, Gold! and are a key supporter for this innovative project.

“Ready, Set, Gold! is empowering and inspiring youth to stay active and prioritize their mental well-being at a time when young people are most in need of this kind of mentorship,” said David Ulich, GSD Executive Board Member. “We are proud to partner with RSG! and support youth as they grow and learn with the Olympians and Paralympians.”

With the exception of 2020, Ready, Set, Gold! has traditionally hosted in-classroom programs since 2006 serving the Los Angeles Unified School District and ICEF, Newport-Mesa Unified School District, Chula-Vista Elementary Unified School District and Claremont Unified School District. Past participating athletes have included Giddeon Massie, Kristy Kowal, Nicole Branagh, Linyao Guo, Breanna Clark, Samantha Bosco, Cody Michael Jones and more.

Tech Innovators Lead the Charge to Ensure Adoption of Digital Transformation in the Sports + Fitness Industry is a Success

[ad_1]

Upper Hand

“This Center of Excellence provides an opportunity for everyone in the industry to get involved and use the power of data and analytics to fight back from the pandemic.” – Kevin R. MacCauley

Upper Hand, Inc., an Indianapolis-based corporation that builds data-driven artificial intelligence software solutions to automate business growth, today announced the formation of a Center of Excellence to launch an open community data and analytics ecosystem to ensure the adoption of successful digital transformation in the sports and fitness industry.

In collaboration with Charlie Shin, Vice President of Data Strategy & Analytics at the Indianapolis Colts, Anthony Brock, Director of Business Analytics at the Indiana Pacers, Dr. David Pierce, Director and Professor at the IUPUI Sports Innovation Institute and Dr. Barry King, Professor at Butler University’s Lacy School of Business, the team will converge market expertise and artificial intelligence methodologies to provide the sports and fitness industry with a comprehensive library of research and data-related resources.

“This Center of Excellence provides an opportunity for everyone in the industry to get involved and use the power of data and analytics to fight back from the pandemic,” said Kevin R. MacCauley, CEO of Upper Hand. “Any small business owner in sports and fitness, whether running a local gym or a global sports franchise, is facing incredible market disruption, with little financial means to invest in innovation for the business to survive. We hope this work helps to keep millions of people exercising, moving and training around the world.”

The effort will focus on delivering community access to three core areas related to data and analytics, including data in practice, events and competitions and jobs. Among those areas, topics will range from academic case studies, shared predictive analytics reports and models, academic challenges, data competitions, shared data to providing real world research and training, and access to candidates seeking jobs in data science. This will provide leaders a rare opportunity to learn directly from the challenges faced by peers in the sports and fitness industry.

“The importance of data and analytics to a sports organization’s success continues to increase, and yet many are faced with similar challenges in developing data and analytics capabilities,” says Charlie Shin, Vice President of Data Strategy & Analytics at the Indianapolis Colts. “The industry needs to come together to learn from each other and I think this Center of Excellence will do exactly that. I’m excited to be part of the effort, and I look forward to collaborating with other sports leaders in this space.”

“The Sports Innovation Institute at IUPUI is excited to be a part of this Center of Excellence,” says Dr. David Pierce, Director of the Sports Innovation Institute at IUPUI. “We are invested in preparing the next generation of data analytics experts for the sports and fitness industry. This effort will provide our sports data analytics students with real world problems to solve in ways that add value to the students and the industry.”

Fitness Startup Monkee Mount Launches a Hands-free Massage Gun Holder

[ad_1]

News Image

Those feelings of frustration inspired the idea for Monkee Mount and finding a way to make it easier to massage your body without the assistance of a friend or partner, and to easily adjust it to different angles.

After a long day at work or a grueling workout, Monkee Mount makes it easier to properly massage sore muscles in the neck, shoulders and upper back. The hands-free massage gun holder, launching today, allows people to achieve a deeper, hands-free massage.

Monkee Mount attaches to any door frame or squat rack, and the height and angle can be easily adjusted for a hands-free massage that hits all of those hard-to-reach places. Monkee Mount is compatible with most open-handle design massage guns, including Theragun, Hyperice and other models. The clamp design can be used on anything four inches wide, making Monkee Mount ideal to use at home, in the gym or outdoors. Monkee Mount is built with high-quality materials that allow it to handle up to 40 pounds of downward force. It’s made with protective rubber inserts so doors and walls can remain damage-free.

David Mills, the founder and creator of Monkee Mount, has spent the last five years working as a master level personal trainer in Aspen, Colorado. In that time, he has worked with a variety of clients, including pro athletes, who struggled to use their massage guns in those hard-to-reach places.

“It’s frustrating, like an itch you can’t scratch, when you can’t get to those sore muscles in your neck, shoulders and upper back with a massage gun,” said Mills. “Those feelings of frustration inspired the idea for Monkee Mount and finding a way to make it easier to massage your body without the assistance of a friend or partner, and to easily adjust it to different angles.”

Massage guns are more popular than ever, providing celebrities, professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts and everyday consumers an efficient way to alleviate muscle tightness and soreness. Unlike other at-home options, like foam rollers, massage guns are helpful for targeting specific pain points, and Monkee Mount ensures people are able to reach even the most hard-to-reach areas. Monkee Mount is a versatile, hands-free solution to scheduling costly massage therapy appointments. Finally, go from hard to reach, to easy access massages.

Achieve relief when and where it’s needed, with Monkee Mount. To preorder, visit pr.go2.fund/monkee-mount.

Understanding the Benefits of Short-scar Breast Reduction

[ad_1]

Dr. Constance Chen

Short-scar breast reduction minimizes scarring on the breast after surgery.

Many women with large and heavy breasts experience significant discomfort including back, neck, and shoulder pain, challenges finding clothes that fit, and a feeling of self-consciousness about their bodies. Some report rashes under their breasts, stares and unwanted attention, and find that large breasts can also make vigorous physical activity difficult. Breast reduction surgery, or reduction mammoplasty, helps deal with these problems and helps many women feel more comfortable in their own bodies.

“In a reduction mammoplasty, breast tissue and breast skin is removed and the nipple-areola complex is repositioned higher on the chest wall, creating a smaller and more youthful breast.” says plastic surgeon and breast reconstruction specialist Dr. Constance M. Chen.

A traditional reduction mammoplasty is performed with an incision that results in an “anchor scar,” which involves three discrete scars. One incision is made around the border of the areola, the second extends down vertically from the areola to the inframammary fold, and the third is a long horizontal incision along the bottom of the breast at the inframammary fold. Dr. Chen explains that “the horizontal scar sometimes can extend beyond a bathing suit or bra and be visible. This same scar is also susceptible to complications while healing and can become wider or hypertrophic (raised).” This is where a short-scar or limited-scar reduction can be advantageous. That’s because it eliminates the horizontal scar,” adds Dr. Chen.

Short-scar reduction uses what we call a “lollipop incision” – around the areola and down to the inframammary fold. “In this case, the horizontal scar is eliminated,” says Dr. Chen. The best technique for each woman is determined by the breast surgeon depending on the size and shape of the patients’ breasts and by the amount of reduction desired.

In most cases, patients who undergo a breast reduction will leave the hospital the same day, with overnight stays rare. The recommended recovery at home is typically 10-14 days before returning to work and several additional weeks before returning to a fully active lifestyle.

Dr. Chen says that “a breast reduction can be performed on healthy women after the breasts are fully developed. She reiterates that “short-scar breast reduction minimizes scarring on the breast after surgery. With advances in breast reduction surgeries, women today don’t have to tolerate the discomfort and emotional distress of large breasts that are out of proportion to their bodies so that they can be more comfortable in their own skin.”

Constance M. Chen, MD, is a board-certified plastic surgeon with special expertise in the use of innovative natural techniques to optimize medical and cosmetic outcomes for women undergoing breast reconstruction. She is Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery (Plastic Surgery) at Weill Cornell Medical College and Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery (Plastic Surgery) at Tulane University School of Medicine. http://www.constancechenmd.com
