Many of the team members have been active upstream Kata Containers project contributors and maintainers since the first day of the project. Enabling new applications

The ability to generate a dense Depth Map with high accuracy is a game changer for many applications. Compared to previous releases, the NEURAL depth mode generates significantly better edge segmentation and brings more stability in low-lighted surfaces. It also provides smoother and planer surfaces to work with. These improvements allow many concrete enhancements in various applications such as Dynamic Obstacle detection for Mobile Robotics, Pick & Place for Industrial Arms and Mixed Reality applications.

Optimized for NVIDIA Jetson Orin

The ZED SDK 3.7 has been optimized for the latest NVIDIA JetPack 5.0 and Jetson AGX Orin™ developer kit. In this configuration, Neural mode runs at 34 fps on the newest NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin compared to 12 fps on Jetson Xavier NX and JetPack 4.X. The performance of the new Jetson AGX Orin unlocks new capabilities such as processing 3D data coming from multiple ZED 2i Depth Cameras, making it the ideal combination for autonomous robotics and edge analytics solutions.

The NVIDIA Jetson AGX Orin delivers 275 trillion operations per second (TOPS), over 8x the compute performance of its predecessor, Jetson AGX Xavier. Developers can jump-start their next-generation edge AI and robotics applications on the Jetson AGX Orin developer kit for seamless deployment on the full range of Orin-based production modules when available starting July 2022.

As cyberthreats continue to expand and progress worldwide, the need for qualified cybersecurity professionals is increasing. Cybersecurity Ventures predicts 3.5 million cybersecurity jobs will be open by 2025, a 350% increase over eight years (https://cybersecurityventures.com/jobs/). Microsoft Philanthropies is expanding its cybersecurity skills for jobs campaign to 23 countries and partnering with Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) to build a cybersecurity workforce that is not just larger but also more diverse.

The expansion will include: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Romania, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

The countries were chosen because of an elevated cyberthreat risk, gap in the workforce and lack of diversity. One of the traditionally excluded populations Microsoft wants to provide opportunities for are women, who are significantly underrepresented. In the countries where Microsoft expanded its cybersecurity skilling campaign, only 17% of the cybersecurity workforce are female. Microsoft is working to understand the skills gap, offering free training, helping train more teachers, and providing more support to diverse and underserved job seekers, which is where WiCyS will help.

WiCyS is working to expand its student chapters in the 23 countries by promoting the retention and advancement of women in cybersecurity. WiCyS has over 5,700 members worldwide, including several in those countries Microsoft is trying to engage. WiCyS also has over 160 student chapters, largely in the U.S.

WiCyS student chapters receive funding, access to resources and conferences as well as networking opportunities for both students and faculty advisors. The group of women, men, allies, and advocates meets monthly to participate in CTFs, hackathons, engage in cyber trivia, and learn new technical skillsets. Other events include hosting resume workshops, mock interviews, career development panels, speed networking events and more.
