Bellus3D Announces Integration & Strategic Partnership With 3Shape

News Image

Our partnership with 3Shape reflects our commitment to the dental market and highlights our integration with 3Shape as the premier platform for chairside and lab dental planning software technology.

Bellus3D, Inc. a Silicon Valley startup formed by leading computer vision experts, is announcing an integration of 3Shape Communicate into the Bellus3D Dental Pro software plus a strategic partnership with 3Shape to expand both companies marketing and promotional efforts. The collaboration simplifies the integration of 3D face scanning with the award-winning 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner into the 3D dental workflow by allowing clinicians and lab professionals to seamlessly access their 3Shape dental files from within the Bellus3D Dental Pro app. The TRIOS intraoral scanner is the only scanner that Bellus3D Dental Pro is directly integrated with, and the integration is the first high-quality integration in the dental industry between an intraoral scanner and an app-based 3D Face scanner.

The announced Bellus3D Dental Pro integration with 3Shape Communicate allows users to directly access 3Shape dental scans through the 3Shape Communicate portal from within the Bellus3D Dental Pro app.

Dental Pro captures life-like quality 3D face scans and provides powerful and easy-to-use tools to align the 3D face scan to dental surface scans to prepare them for import into dental design software. By incorporating 3D facial scans into the dental planning process, clinicians and dental labs can use the patient’s face in 3D as an integral part of the 3D smile design process. Coupled with 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner and Dental System, the integration accelerates high-value case acceptance and clinician approval by using facial-driven restorations that reference the patient’s individual smile and lip line for superior results and patient care.

The workflow starts with a TRIOS intraoral scan that is then easily integrated into the Bellus3D Dental Pro app. The app allows the clinician to align the face scan and the intraoral scan before sharing the aligned files into the Dental System software

“Our partnership with 3Shape reflects our commitment to the dental market and highlights our integration with 3Shape as the premier platform for chairside and lab dental planning software technology. Bellus3D is committed to making it easy for any dentist to integrate 3D Faces into the digital dentistry workflow. Bellus3D Dental Pro for iOS provides a powerful and easy to use 3D face scanning solution enabling dentists to scan a 3D face in seconds. Using the Bellus3D Visual Smile Aligner tool, alignment of the 3D face scan with the 3D dental surface scan is a simple process that can be accomplished in about one minute. The resulting 3D Face and dental surface scan pair can then be imported into the 3Shape Dental System for immediate use in diagnostic, surgical and restorative smile design planning.

“We are very excited about our partnership with Bellus3D because it is the leading 3D face scanning system available. The Dental Pro application and integration with 3Shape TRIOS intraoral scanner and Dental System makes it easy for our customers to incorporate 3D face scans into their existing digital workflow. The partnership underlines our commitment to drive innovative partnerships and bring the newest and best solutions to our customers,” said Rune Fisker, SVP of Product Strategy at 3Shape.

Attendees at the annual Chicago Mid-Winter Dental Show can see demos of the integrated solution at the 3Shape booth #5028. Attendees at LAB DAY 2020 in Chicago can see demos of the integrated solution in the Bellus3D booth #A-21.

Guardian Optical Technologies Introduces Detection Capabilities Designed to Safely Deploy Airbags

Guardian Optical Technologies, a company dedicated to enabling “passenger-aware” cars, today announced additional passenger safety features incorporated into their sensor technology including the ability to track a passenger’s distance from an airbag, weight classification, detecting an “out of position” passenger and front seat child detection. Guardian Optical Technologies has combined multiple safety applications in one sensor to provide a comprehensive safety solution for automakers and OEMs. The new sensor detections are designed to safely deploy airbags based on the position and weight of the passenger.

Guardian Optical Technologies added these new detection capabilities to minimize the number of airbag injuries/fatalities. The distance from airbag (DFA) feature provides the distance of both the passenger and driver torso distance from the dashboard and steering wheel. With an accuracy to 1cm, this feature is designed to prevent some of the injuries caused by airbags when passengers assume different sitting positions. In cases where passengers intrude into the “airbag deployment space,” the airbag could be suppressed, preventing possible fatalities and minimizing some of the injuries that could occur when passengers put their feet on the dashboard, lean forward, etc.

The Weight Classification feature provides an estimated weight of the front passenger and driver for optimization of the airbag system, tailoring airbag deployment for larger and smaller individuals specifically. The front passenger child seat detection will identify a baby seat in the front passenger seat for airbag suppression. The sensor can detect all types of baby seats regardless of orientation to prevent the destruction of a child seat from the force of the airbag.

The out of position passengers (OOP) feature can detect if a passenger is not sitting in an upright position. The real-time analysis of posture will help prevent injuries due to the fact that both seatbelts and airbags are designed to work with passengers sitting upright.

“We are providing safety solutions that are customized for all real-life situations – there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all in the myriad of possibilities that can take place on the road,” said Gil Dotan, Founder and CMO of Guardian Optical Technologies. “Our goal is to continue to add capabilities to our sensor that will create a safer in-cabin experience for passengers and drivers alike.”

These new features add up to an already rich offering for safety and convenience capabilities in next generation vehicles. Guardian combines video image recognition (2D), depth mapping (3D), and optical micro- to macro-motion analysis to constantly detect occupants and objects anywhere in the vehicle, using low-cost, automotive-grade components. The sensor identifies the location and physical dimensions of everyone in the car, distinguishing people from objects. By detecting micro vibrations, the system can register, in some cases, a presence even without a direct line of sight.

About Guardian Optical Technologies:

Guardian Optical Technologies is dedicated to enabling “passenger-aware” cars, with cutting-edge sensor technology that makes cars safer and more convenient. Just one sensor combined with advanced 2D, 3D, and motion analysis protects drivers and passengers by constantly scanning and tracking occupants and objects anywhere in the vehicle. These technologies work with a car’s seatbelts, driver monitoring system, airbags and other safety features to sound immediate alerts. The system deploys machine-learning, including image analysis on the sensor’s video feed. Committed to providing high value to automakers today, Guardian Optical Technologies designed its system to effortlessly support future advances in the auto industry, particularly autonomous vehicles. Based in Tel Aviv, Israel, the tech start-up was founded in 2014 and has been awarded two patents, with other patent applications in progress. Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab Announces First-of-Its-Kind Security Validation Testing Program for MFPs and Printers

News Image

Our program establishes standards that all device manufacturers can strive to achieve, and cuts through the jargon and competing claims for purchasing decision-makers.

Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab, the industry’s leading authority in hardcopy device testing and research, today unveiled its complete Security Validation Testing program. Initially targeted to connected MFPs and printers and eventually expanding to include all “smart workplace” IoT devices, the program establishes industry-standard benchmarks in the areas of Device Penetration, Policy Compliance, and Firmware Resilience. Administered by Buyers Lab, long recognized as the independent source for test data for the office equipment industry, the cornerstone of the program is hands-on testing conducted by Buyers Lab in concert with accredited security testing firms.

“End-point security is top of mind for organizations of all sizes, and rightfully so,” said Randy Dazo, Keypoint Intelligence’s President and CEO. “If not properly designed and secured, a company’s output devices can be an unlocked ‘back door’ serving as a conduit between the Internet and the corporate network. Our program establishes standards that all device manufacturers can strive to achieve, and cuts through the jargon and competing claims for purchasing decision-makers.”

During two years of program development, Keypoint Intelligence solicited input from leading document imaging OEMs. The result is a three-track test suite that addresses security from various vectors to ensure devices are safeguarded against vulnerabilities—and that they remain so:

DEVICE PENETRATION: A combination of automated tools and manual exploitation are used to probe for potential vulnerabilities in the device firmware/OS, ports, print protocols, embedded web page, connectivity avenues, and more.

POLICY COMPLIANCE: Technicians employ the OEMs’ management tools to specify security settings and save those settings as a “policy” template, apply the policy across a fleet to ensure devices are in compliance, monitor those settings on an ongoing basis, automatically remediate devices that fall out of compliance, and more.

FIRMWARE RESILIENCE: Technicians use the OEMs’ tools and protocols to validate that devices are in compliance with the NIST SP 800-193 guidelines for platform resiliency of connected devices. The testing ascertains whether mechanisms are in place to protect the platform against unauthorized changes, and that the device can detect an attack and recover to a secure state automatically.

The pressing need for such a program is not theoretical. In 2019, for example, security researchers in the Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center discovered infrastructure of known Russian hackers communicating to several external devices and attempts by the hackers to compromise popular IoT devices—including an office printer—to breach networks. Once they established access, the hackers were able to uncover other unsecure devices and move across the network seeking higher-value data.

Notably, the Keypoint Intelligence – Buyers Lab program differs from Common Criteria Certification for output devices in that there is not only verification that a device has the prescribed set of features and that they are correctly implemented, but also hands-on testing to determine if vulnerabilities remain. OEMs that submit products for testing and pass one, two, or all three tracks earn the right to license the Security Validation Testing seal to communicate to customers that the platform has passed the testing.

HP, FUJI XEROX, AND RICOH ARE THE FIRST TO EARN THE DEVICE PENETRATION TESTING SEAL

Keypoint Intelligence is pleased to also announce that inaugural participants in the program—HP, Fuji Xerox, and Ricoh—have passed the Device Penetration testing.

“We are thrilled that HP, Fuji Xerox, and Ricoh supported us in our initial round of testing, and just as thrilled to report that their platforms met the stringent criteria put forward in our Device Penetration test protocol,” said Dazo. “These actions are a testament to those companies’ commitment to product security and desire to raise the bar for the entire industry.”

New Study Reveals One In Three SMBs Use Free Consumer Cybersecurity And One In Five Use No Endpoint Security At All

Award-winning BullGuard is a cybersecurity company focused on the consumer and small business markets. We make it simple to protect everything in your digital life.

“Small businesses are not immune to cyber attacks and data breaches and are often targeted specifically because they often fail to prioritize security,” said Paul Lipman, CEO of BullGuard. “It only takes one attack, however, to bring a business to its knees.”

New research commissioned by and published today by cybersecurity company, BullGuard, revealed an alarming number of small businesses in the US and UK are not prepared for a potential cyber attack or breach. One-third of companies with 50 or fewer employees report using free, consumer-grade cybersecurity, and one in five companies use no endpoint security whatsoever. Additionally, worrisome, the study found 43% of SMB owners have no cybersecurity defense plan in place at all – leaving their most sensitive financial, customer and business data, and ultimately their companies, at significant risk.

“Small businesses are not immune to cyber attacks and data breaches, and are often targeted specifically because they often fail to prioritize security,” said Paul Lipman, CEO of BullGuard. “Caught between inadequate consumer solutions and overly complex enterprise software, many small business owners may be inclined to skip cybersecurity. It only takes one attack, however, to bring a business to its knees.”

The study also revealed some glaring discrepancies between what SMB owners believe versus what is actually occurring in the market. Nearly 60% of SMB owners believe their business is unlikely to be targeted by cyber criminals, however the results revealed that 18.5% of SMB owners have suffered from a cyber attack or data breach within the past year. Unfortunately, while securing data can be simple, remediation is not. Companies that fall victim to a cyber attack often experience significant downtime that seriously impacts productivity, data privacy, and even revenue. Once breached, 25% of SMB owners stated they had to spend $10,000 or more to resolve the attack, which could be devastating for a small company. As for time lost, 50% of SMB owners said it took 24 hours or longer to recover from a breach or cyber attack, while 25% reported they lost business as a result, and almost 40% stated they lost crucial data.

Despite these numbers, many SMB owners are overly confident in the safety of their company and customer data. One in five SMB owners surveyed stated their organization has zero vulnerabilities, however 50% of SMB owners stated their employees do not receive any cybersecurity training.

A significant number, 65%, of SMB owners report managing their cybersecurity in-house, but less than 10% say they have a dedicated IT staff member. The right solution makes it simple and extremely cost-effective for SMBs to manage their own cybersecurity, ensuring their business is secure and protected.

Conducted in January 2020, the BullGuard-commissioned survey queried a total of 3,083 small business owners in the US (1,551) and the UK (1,532) with 50 employees or less. A press kit including graphs, charts, logos and other assets related to the research study can be accessed here.

It’s an honor to celebrate this select group of North America’s leading hospitals that are going the extra mile to provide both quality and high value healthcare for their patients through supply chain excellence.

Global Healthcare Exchange, LLC (GHX) today recognized North America’s highest performing healthcare provider organizations with the release of its annual GHX “Best 50” supply chains in North America. The “Best 50” honorees stand out amongst North America’s premier hospitals for their ability to demonstrate improved operational performance and drive down costs through supply chain automation. The 2019 recipients will be honored at the 20th annual GHX Summit, April 27 – 29, 2020 at the Gaylord National Resort in National Harbor, MD.

To select the “Best 50,” GHX analyzed a pool of more than 4,100 hospitals in the U.S. and Canada connected to the GHX electronic trading exchange. GHX’s “Best 50” is comprised of the highest scorers in areas such as maximizing document automation, Exchange utilization and trading partner connections during the 2019 calendar year.

“It’s an honor to celebrate this select group of North America’s leading hospitals that are going the extra mile to provide both quality and high value healthcare for their patients through supply chain excellence,” said Bruce Johnson, president & CEO, GHX. “Our hope is this Best 50 honor is just one of the many factors helping to motivate hospitals to find efficiencies in their supply chains, setting the bar slightly higher for excellence each year.
