Used by over 80 percent of the Global 2000, the Visual Basic Upgrade Companion is the world’s most widely adopted solution for bringing legacy VB6 and ASP classic applications into a modern language, architecture, and platform. Each release of the VBUC is rigorously tested on over 4 million lines of real-world customer source code, ensuring an effective and reliable tool that reduces the workload of legacy modernization projects by 95 percent compared to manual rewriting.

Group of teens up to good, provide free eLearning devices and sports gear through new app

News Image

“No child should be left behind due to lack of resources.”

Shay Patel, a high school junior in the San Francisco Bay Area, and his team of large-hearted teens are on a mission to level the distance learning playing field. He and his team just launched an app, AlleyOop, which directly connects people who need eLearning devices and sports gear to those who wish to donate those items. Everything listed on the app and downloading the app are totally free. This is a game changer as there is no other app nor service doing this. Give Gear. Get Gear. Free. With a growing number of schools announcing distance and hybrid learning models for fall, there is still an eLearning device shortage as well as a lack of school sports. This teen, armed with his app, addresses both of those gaps. AlleyOop is available for download now on the App Store and Google Play Store.

A little about Shay Patel:

Since I was young I have been insanely passionate about sports. As an eleven-year-old at basketball practice at the Boys & Girls Club, I was surprised to see that most of the other kids there were not playing in proper basketball shoes. Some wore flip flops. That didn’t sit well with me so I took matters into his own hands, translating empathy into action, launching Alley-Oop Kids. It’s a nonprofit that I continue to run, 5 years later, with a singular mission: To level the playing field by giving under-served kids access to sports gear, training, and experiences. In light of COVID-19 I’ve also added eLearning devices to our efforts. Our new app is one of the many efforts of Alley-Oop Kids.

Inc. magazine revealed that RDI Technologies is No. 301 on its annual Inc. 5000 list, the most prestigious ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies. The list represents a unique look at the most successful companies within the American economy’s most dynamic segment—its independent small businesses. “The Inc. 5000 list is a huge validation for us,” said Jeff Hay, CEO of RDI Technologies. “Hitting the top 500 once is a really big deal, but being able to be in the top 500 two years in a row shows how much we are continuing to grow and innovate.”

Not only have the companies on the 2020 Inc. 5000 been very competitive within their markets, but the list as a whole shows staggering growth compared with prior lists as well. The Inc. 5000’s aggregate revenue was $209 billion in 2019, accounting for over 1 million jobs over the past three years.

OLEDWorks’ Multi-Stack Technology Pushes the Boundary of Luminance Efficiency for Microdisplays

News Image

“I’m quite thrilled with our high multi-stack luminance efficiency for a well-balanced D65 white point design of up to 20 cd/A or higher,” said Dr. Hamer, COO and cofounder of OLEDWorks.

Earlier this month, OLEDWorks, the leading manufacturer of OLED light technology, introduced its unique high-performance multi-stack OLED microdisplay technology at SID’s Virtual Symposium. Additional technology and results will be presented virtually at SPIE on August 24th and IMID on August 25th.

Yamaha Introduces New Line of Wireless Headphones with Adaptive Technologies to Optimize Sound

Yamaha TW-E7A True Wireless Noise Cancelling Earbuds

“By adapting to each person and his or her surroundings, our headphones allow listeners to stay true to themselves and truly enjoy the music that shapes them,” said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America.

Yamaha recently unveiled a brand-new line of wireless headphones that intelligently adapt and respond to listeners and their environment. As the size and shape of each person’s ears and head are uniquely different – as are the acoustics and surroundings they find themselves in each day, these new headphones allow listeners to enjoy authentic music and True Sound experiences through proprietary adaptive technologies, wherever they may go.

Eight new models comprise the lineup, ranging from wireless earbuds, including true wireless, to active noise cancelling over-ear headphones. All models feature new technology from Yamaha that optimizes the listening experience for each person.

The hero models in the new line feature Listening Optimizer. Unlike alternatives that take a single measurement at one moment in time, Listening Optimizer works in real time, making ongoing measurements and subtly adjusting if the fit or wearing conditions happen to change, to ensure the best sound.

The top of the line, YH-E700A wireless noise-cancelling headphones, features Advanced ANC, which goes beyond standard active noise cancelling by incorporating a new proprietary technology from Yamaha. Unlike typical noise-cancelling, which can often “color” or degrade sound, Advanced ANC analyzes and removes background noise while keeping the music signal pure and untouched. For situations where a listener wants to stay aware of their surroundings or communicate with another person, these and other noise-cancelling models include an Ambient Sound mode.

All models offer Listening Care, a technology that allows listeners to hear full-range sound – from high to low frequencies – even at low volume settings. This overcomes a challenge faced by typical headphones, where low volume listening goes hand-in-hand with a pronounced reduction to certain frequency ranges, resulting in listeners cranking up the volume to levels that may affect hearing health. The long-term impacts may be especially compounded by daily wear. Listening Care solves for this, encouraging lower volume listening by intelligently adjusting sound frequencies to maintain the full-range sound. Select models feature enhanced functionality, which analyzes music and background noise in real time to automatically achieve the optimum balance at a listener’s selected volume setting.

“By adapting to each person and his or her surroundings, our headphones allow listeners to stay true to themselves and truly enjoy the music that shapes them,” said Alex Sadeghian, director, Consumer Audio, Yamaha Corporation of America. “Now, with our new line of headphones, from the moment you wake up and head out for the day, to when you return home and relax with your favorite shows at night, Yamaha is there for you with unparalleled audio every step of the way.”

Yamaha is no stranger to the headphones space, taking the past several years to carefully develop and define its next contributions to the category. As the world’s largest maker of musical instruments and audio gear, Yamaha is uniquely positioned as a leader on the authentic expression of music and sound. It’s with that passion and understanding that Yamaha pursued its dedication to the craft even further with this new line and features to optimize musical enjoyment both inside and outside of the home.

All of the new headphones feature app control, in addition to simple controls to make phone calls, activate your favorite voice assistant and control your music with easy-to-find buttons. Each model offers a carrying case, charging cables and extended battery life between charges. Additional features and accessories vary by model.
