Sonin Hybrid unveils revolutionary 140mph+ drone built exclusively for first responders

Sonin Hybrid Recruit Police Drone

Police drones equipped with flashing lights, sirens, sensors and cameras.

There were plenty of commercial drones out there, but very few were specifically manufactured for first responders. We decided that police and firefighters needed this technology the most, and immediately set out to build the Recruit

Atlanta-based drone manufacturer Sonin Hybrid has just unveiled a revolutionary 140MPH+ drone (with FAA waiver) built exclusively for first responders. The Sonin Hybrid Recruit has a fully-equipped flight time over three hours and can reach speeds over three times faster than most of the fastest commercial drones available today. As a result of its enhanced capabilities, the Sonin Hybrid Recruit will keep first responders safe and extend their missions.

Despite the number of police, firefighters, and government officials flying drones as part of their duty to protect and serve, few drones are designed for first responders. The limitations of battery-powered drones prevent first responders from executing longer missions and carrying additional equipment that can extend their capabilities.

The Recruit drone uses Sonin Hybrid’s patent-pending gasoline and battery-powered system to recharge batteries while in flight. The Recruit is also equipped with a high-tech payload including 30X optical/12X digital zoom 4K video camera with fixed and mobile target tracking, Forward Looking InfraRed (FLiR) camera with night vision, PA speakers, spotlight, and additional sensors for first responder missions. Coupled with a carbon fiber body, lightweight airframe, and Sonin’s hybrid system, the Recruit can fly longer and faster than traditional drones.

“While we were in the process of finalizing the design of our hybrid power system for drones, we realized that we could get the most range by designing our own airframe,” said Curtis Foster, founder of Sonin Hybrid. “The next question was: for who? There were plenty of commercial drones out there, but very few were specifically manufactured for first responders. Well before the onset of the pandemic, we decided that police and firefighters needed this technology the most, and immediately set out to build the Recruit.”

Sonin Hybrid is launching several beta programs with police and fire departments across the country to finalize which capabilities are most important to first responders. For the average citizen, increased use of drones means shorter response times and better prepared public safety personnel in emergency situations.

Introspect Technology Announces the World’s First MIPI C-PHY Version 2.0 and D-PHY Version 3.0 Combo Pattern Generator

SV5C-DPTXCPTX Combo MIPI Generator

SV5C-DPTXCPTX Combo MIPI Generator

The unveiling of Introspect Technology’s SV5C-DPTXCPTX Combo MIPI D-PHY/C-PHY Generator represents a key step towards the widespread adoption of the C-PHY Version 2.0 and D-PHY Version 3.0 specifications by the mobile and mobile-influenced industries.

Introspect Technology, leading manufacturer of test and measurement tools for high-speed digital applications, announced today the introduction of the SV5C-DPTXCPTX Combo MIPI D-PHY/C-PHY Generator. This ultra-compact instrument enables electrical characterization and protocol validation of components based on the latest MIPI Alliance® C-PHY and D-PHY specifications, especially those targeting C-PHY version 2.0 and the upcoming D-PHY version 3.0. Because of the advanced equalization technologies and very low voltage levels that are mandated in these standards, any high-speed device that targets these specifications must undergo critical receiver sensitivity testing before successful deployment in the field. The SV5C-DPTXCPTX facilitates this process with remarkable ease, and it offers a future-proof test solution that covers a range of current and future MIPI specifications. Specifically, in addition to the C-PHY and D-PHY physical layer test features, this highly programmable test solution also includes an abundance of features for current and upcoming CSI-2 camera serial interface specification releases, as well as current and upcoming DSI-2 display serial interface specification releases.

“With its compactness, ease of setup, extreme analog performance, and fully integrated noise, jitter, and skew injection sources, the SV5C-DPTXCPTX has increased the availability of world‐class test equipment for high‐speed digital product development teams across the world,” said Dr. Mohamed Hafed, Introspect Technology CEO. “To quantify this, a single SV5C-DPTXCPTX instrument contains 12 independent skew and jitter injection channels that can operate in parallel and that are completely programmable through software, 12 independent pre-emphasis generators, and 12 independent noise injection sources, among others. All of these capabilities come in a handheld form factor, which means that engineers can deploy an entire validation bench setup within a compact box that travels inside any briefcase,” he continued.

Integrated Solution

The most important hallmark of the SV5C-DPTXCPTX receiver test solution is that it is completely integrated. It contains low-power (LP) pattern generators and their corresponding voltage drivers; it contains high-speed (HS) pattern generators and their analog front-ends; and it contains all impairment signal sources such as delay generators, jitter injection circuits, and voltage noise sources.

On the Fly Programmability

Control for the parameters of the SV5C-DPTXCPTX happens through the award winning Introspect ESP Software. The software strikes a perfect balance between ease of usability and infinite programmability. On the one hand, all parameters of the generator are available in tables that enable one-click generation of signals or protocol data packets based on the CSI-2 or DSI-2 specification. And, on the other, the software offers a comprehensive Python-based integrated development environment, thus allowing the creation of automated tests in a matter of minutes.

Advanced Waveform Shaping

Offering highly stable signal generation capability, the SV5C-DPTXCPTX gives confidence in the receiver measurements being performed, and it ensures strong repeatability and reproducibility. More importantly, fine-grained impairments can be added to the outputs of the SV5C-DPTXCPTX through software commands, thus giving users a platform for accurate and precise stressed eye generation. Indeed, automated sweeps in which a user gradually degrades a receiver eye opening can be performed, and these can be used to characterize a receiver’s ability to equalize faded signals and recover data reliably.

Conformance Test Suites (CTS) and Automated Calibration Scripts

The SV5C-DPTXCPTX supports C-PHY 2.0 and D-PHY 3.0 receiver CTS testing. As is well known, an important part of CTS testing is the calibrated stressed eye test. For this test, it is important to calibrate the receiver signal through a closed-loop connection to an oscilloscope. Through using the Introspect ESP Software, the SV5C-DPTXCPTX comes with optional automated calibration routines for the calibrated stressed eye test.

With its small form factor and extensive feature set, this solution is suitable for a myriad of test and measurement domains; it is not only valuable for verification engineers that perform traditional characterization tasks, but it is also ideal for FPGA developers and software developers who need rapid turnaround signal verification tools or hardware-software interoperability confirmation tools.

About Introspect Technology

Founded in 2012 through self-funding, Introspect Technology designs and manufactures innovative test and measurement equipment for high-speed digital applications. Whether it is the next smartphone or the level-4 autonomy engine in a mobility solution, our award-winning tools are used to develop, test, and manufacture next-generation products. In short, we help the leading global technology companies make tomorrow’s technology today’s possibility.

CMP Introduces New Advanced Oxidation Process Sanitizer Systems

“Since adding DEL and other sanitizer companies to the CMP family, it’s been our desire to take the next leap in making this advanced tech accessible to everyone in the industry,” says Vic Walker, CMP Director of Marketing & Product Design.

CMP is announcing two brand new models to the industry-leading DEL AOP product line. DEL was an original entry into the residential pool AOP market with the groundbreaking AOP 50, and followed up with the compact AOP 25.

As an innovator, CMP was able to gather feedback from professionals and add new features that improve the whole product experience. The result of years of development are these two new sanitizer models. Each is designed to break new ground and open the door to powerful Advanced Oxidation to more pools.

AOP technology combines UV and Ozone to produce Hydroxyl Radicals. These “hydroxyls” have been documented in numerous studies to have powerful oxidation capabilities. This technology is ideal for reducing chlorine dependency, killing contaminants that make swimmers sick and clarifying the water. The new Del AOP products have all been certified by NSF as supplemental sanitizers. This means they have been proven in testing to kill 99,9% of influent bacteria.

CMP is also opening the door of new technology to service professionals by making these systems simple to install, operate and service. They are designed to install similar to a pool filter with a couple of connections. An innovative feedback system on the front displays the constantly monitored status of all sub-systems. It also notifies operators when it is time to change out internal components. This makes service issues or faults easy to identify and address.

“Since adding DEL and other sanitizer companies to the CMP family, it’s been our desire to take the next leap in making this advanced tech accessible to everyone in the industry,” says Vic Walker, Director of Marketing & Product Design for CMP. “We really think we have cracked that code with these new products. Other systems may work, but are hard to install. Or they may be easy to set up, but not NSF 50 certified as supplemental sanitizers. We managed to do both, and we could not be more excited”

The next generation AOP products join the complete family of DEL brand sanitizers, including DEL Ozone and DEL UV-C. For high-end or commercial water, CMP also has a complete line of DEL Pro sanitizers, including the only Secondary Sanitizer certified Ozone systems.

A new model is required in order to respond adequately to demand from both suppliers and customers in this field,” says Mario Tremblay, CEO of RobotShop. “The RobotShop Marketplace is the foundation of a new economic platform dedicated to the world of robotics and emerging technologies. We strongly believe that this will result in a more global offering of robotic goods available on the market, and improved experience and better service for all.”

The RobotShop Marketplace offers several advantages for manufacturers, notably the excellent reputation and visibility of the RobotShop brand in the field of robotics bringing a large number of visitors, amateurs and professionals with a keen interest in emerging technologies, as well as a large community promoting communication, mutual aid and technical support. The platform also contains advanced functionalities which optimize the categorization of products and create personalized spaces for merchants as well as an API facilitating operational integration.

According to various sources, with the advent of 5G, increasingly powerful processors and artificial intelligence, the robotics market is set to become a predominant sector and could exceed 200 billion dollars by 2025.
