four ENTERPRISE editions, improved performance, and optimized Process Mining App

PAFnow logo

PAF has taken direct reference to our customer request in the optimized Explorer and implemented it in an even better form.

The Process Analytics Factory (PAF), a leading Process Mining vendor from Darmstadt, Germany, introduces the “PAFnow Spring Update 2021”, featuring the latest innovations and improvements to its Process Mining solution integrated in Microsoft Power BI. These include a total of four industry-specific ENTERPRISE editions and a significant increase in performance. In addition, there is now the optimized PAFnow Process Explorer with extended functions. Furthermore, PAFnow will in the near future include a Subscription and Session Manager. This will enable companies to conveniently manage the available licenses and to assign user rights in a compliance-compliant manner. A new Lead Time Calculator is also being implemented.

With a current total of four ENTERPRISE editions, the latest PAFnow version offers specialized prebuilt analysis dashboards that are tailored precisely to the corresponding business applications, thus significantly simplifying and accelerating use for specific areas of application and industries:

  • The RPA (Robotic Process Automation) Edition has pre-built dashboards that support companies during all RPA project phases, from the identification of automation-relevant processes to the implementation and evaluation of automation.
  • The BPM (Business Process Management) Edition supports BPM consultants and organizations in cross-organizational process improvement projects. Dedicated BPM dashboards help understand and benchmark business processes, find compliance violations, and define best practices.
  • The OPEX (Operational Excellence) Edition helps “in-house consultants” to identify repetition, measure process performance, monitor the progress and success of improvement activities, standardize processes, and achieve improved right-first-time rates, among other things.
  • The AUDIT Edition provides complete visibility into the real processes to improve audit performance in terms of time, quality, and accuracy. Internal audit departments gain 100% visibility and can focus on potential risk, control and compliance weaknesses instead of spending time and effort on understanding process flows through interviews, workshops and sample-based walkthroughs.

Improved performance and optimized PAFnow Process Explorer

PAFnow has also received an extensive performance boost. This is particularly evident in the Case Viewer. Rendering for visualization is over 50 percent faster than before. Overall, this leads to a significantly better performance of PAFnow.

In addition, users can now access even more functions thanks to an optimized PAFnow Process Explorer. This increases the variety of display perspectives and enables even more precise insights into the processes. PAFnow now has a total of 12 Process Mining Custom Visuals.

Positive feedback on the new version has already been received from Martin Frank, Data Science & Plant Analytics Team at Constantia Flexibles, a leading global manufacturer of flexible packaging products and labels. He and his team are particularly excited about the implementation of the improved Process Explorer: “PAF has taken direct reference to our customer request in the optimized Explorer and implemented it in an even better form.”

Dr. Timo Nolle, CTO of PAF, finds his development strategy confirmed: “The Process Mining success of our customers is the focus of PAF. That’s why we take customer feedback and suggestions for improvement very seriously. This also helps us in product development to continuously improve PAFnow bit by bit every day”.

Simplified administration and redesigned Lead Time Calculator

A Subscription and Session Manager is about to be launched. This will allow companies to conveniently manage their own licenses and user rights management. This ensures efficient use of licenses and compliance-compliant use of the software.

Another innovation currently being implemented is the Lead Time Calculator with drag-and-drop functionality. With this, the lead times for any process sections can be calculated and visualized intuitively, flexibly and completely data-driven in just a few steps. This not only allows the average duration of the process to be identified, but also any outliers or bottlenecks.

In this way, the Lead Time Calculator follows the idea behind the Event Filter, which already features drag-and-drop functions since the Summer Update 2020. This means that a simply created target model – based on the selected desired actual variants without manual modeling – can be used to very quickly and efficiently find variants in which gross violations occur in the process flow.

What is PAFnow?

PAFnow is a Process Mining application fully integrated into Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft 365 for the analysis, visualization and optimization of almost any process. This gives PAF a unique selling point and a clear competitive advantage: “Most companies are not aware that with established BI platforms such as Microsoft Power BI and Office 365 they are already in an immediate position to make process knowledge from data automatically accessible to the responsible employees. An additional platform solution for Process Mining usually first creates more effort, generates acceptance problems among users and leads to a delayed or even unattainable return on investment,” explains PAF CEO Tobias Rother.

With PAFnow, on the other hand, these problems do not arise in the first place: “In our experience, the use of a Process Mining application within an existing platform reduces the effort from start-up to process analysis to establishing it in the business departments by up to 95% compared to proprietary Process Mining tools. With PAFnow, it usually takes less than a week to directly optimize business processes,” explains Tobias Rother based on his project experience with PAFnow.

BODYGUARD – BanaLogic’s affordable Vehicle Damage Detection Systems with LED lighting and license plate recognition

News Image

BanaLogic, automotive inspection specialists, has released a new vehicle intake and damage detection system called BODYGUARD. Specifically designed for dealerships, repair centers, car rental locations, and parking garages, it captures hundreds of images including license plate data in mere seconds as a vehicle enters and/or exits the designated lane.

Our customers were asking for a solution to document and augment their vehicle intake and return process that did more than just capture images. After much research, we discovered that systems were either lacking in capability or so cost prohibitive that it would be less expensive to simply absorb and write off any claims. For BODYGUARD, we leveraged technology used in our FASTLIGN laser alignment drive through lanes to capture license plate data and trigger bright LED illumination, combined with high resolution cameras strategically placed on towers, to capture hundreds of images at various angles on a 3-5 second drive through. The system is easy to install and uses a small internet appliance to push content securely into the cloud. There are no servers or software to locally maintain and back up and our customers can store, search and review up to a year’s worth of vehicle traffic and images in the cloud for little more than $2 a day.

“One damage claim can more than pay for BODYGUARD,” says Keith Lee, Chief Technology Officer, BanaLogic Corporation.

The company has recently launched two packages – BODYGUARD BASE & BODYGUARD BRITE. Both packages come with automatic license plate recognition (ALPR) with the BRITE package adding automatic high intensity LED lighting to increase image clarity. Each lane for the BASE package is $3,995 and the BRITE package price is $5,995.

The BODYGUARD system is designed to be: easy to implement; adaptable to a wide variety of applications and lane configurations; convenient to use, and is field upgradable. Our engineering team is already working on the next BODYGUARD package which will include the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to automatically identify pre-existing damage – all in the same footprint. BODYGUARD systems are designed to be modular and easily field upgradable to enhance and protect investment in the technology.

Atricore releases beta version of IAM.tf

Long recognized as pioneers of visual modeling for IAM, Atricore’s research and development team has released the beta of a new tool at the intersection of Identity Access Management and DevOps. Vendor-agnostic IAM.tf facilitates the visual configuration of IDaaS-based identity management solutions, harnessing Terraform scripts to bring the code to life.

IAM.tf is an in-browser cloud tool that introduces a unique IAM-as-code approach to configuring popular identity management solutions like Okta and Auth0. The vendor-agnostic tool breaks down barriers between popular IAM products, automatically generating Terraform scripts as the user visually describes IAM functionality like MFA and Social SSO. Out-of-the-box support for Okta and Auth0 is included, and AWS Cognito and Azure are in the works.

Leveraging Terraform to automatically generate scripts for IDaaS solutions, IAM.tf can be used to supplement existing cloud solutions like Okta or Auth0, covering typical last-mile challenges such as on-boarding legacy applications, provisioning social sign-in with Google or Facebook, or implementing MFA—all without writing a single line of code.

“By offering a subscription-based service, without any licensing fees, we hope to bring the convenience and ease-of-use of visual modeling to other cloud IAM solutions, not just our own product line,” says Atricore CEO Gianluca Brigandi. “As both a services and product company with a very active R&D arm, we feel that we’re in a pretty unique position to do so. I’m incredibly proud of our developers, who’ve been able to harness widely available open source tools to create something that can benefit anyone who is struggling with what can often be a tedious and difficult process: that’s the bridging of the gap between an enterprise’s legacy applications and today’s popular IDaaS solutions. The current beta covers Okta and Auth0 and we’re hoping to expand that coverage to other products in 2021.”

The IAM.tf tool is freely available, with practically no friction as far as adoption is concerned – it only requires a browser.

Atricore CTO Sebastian Gonzalez explains: “You can think of IAM.tf as something to layer on top of your existing IDaaS. It doesn’t interfere with it in any way, and it provides your tech team with an intuitive method to configure things without the need to dig around in the code. By building on Terraform, we’ve been able to automate the provisioning work in a consistent and repeatable fashion, as well as describing the infrastructure details using their widely adopted configuration language. So it’s really vendor-agnostic; you can use it with any one, or several, IAM stacks. If your company already uses one or more of those, this is something you can just add to your toolkit.”

Atricore is an identity and access management products and services company, well known for JOSSO and the Atricore Console. Enjoy IAM.tf for free at the website: https://iam.tf.
