Netherlands Pavilion Opens at CES 2022 with Tech for a Responsible Future and 100% Circular, XL 3D Printed Art Display

A 3D printed storyboard created by Aectual that references the Dutch 2022 CES theme: “Tech for a Responsible Future”

In order to solve the urgent challenges we face today, we need to design solutions for the world we will live in tomorrow.

Marking its sixth consecutive year, the Netherlands (NL Tech) Pavilions, opened today at CES 2022, where they will showcase tech solutions for a responsible future alongside a 100% circular, XL 3D printed art display. The NL Tech Pavilions are dedicated spaces intended to foster collaboration, broker valuable partnerships and introduce groundbreaking NL tech solutions that solve global challenges across a wide berth of tech categories, including sustainability and resilience, AI, robotics and quantum computing, health and wellness, smart cities and smart homes, smart mobility and vehicle tech, data security and big data. The Netherlands Startup Pavilion is located in the Venetian Expo, downstairs in Eureka Park (Hall G, Booth 61928), and the Netherlands Scale-up Pavilion is located upstairs in the Venetian Expo at (Halls A-C, Booth 50833).

“The NL Tech Pavilion at CES 2022 includes two pavilions for the first time, which demonstrates and maps to the immense growth of the Netherlands tech ecosystem over the past several years,” said HRH Prince Constantijn van Oranje, Special Envoy to Techleap.nl and the Netherlands. “In order to solve the urgent challenges we face today, we need to design solutions for the world we will live in tomorrow. Our start-ups and scale-ups have answered the call to accelerate the change together. Sadly, while the coronavirus continues to have a global impact and current government regulations mean I cannot attend CES this year, I remain 100% committed to supporting all of the NL Pavilion companies regardless of my location.”

The NL Tech Pavilion highlights its theme of “tech for a responsible future” through art and design with the addition of three, 100% circular, XL 3D-printed room dividers on display as the centerpiece of the NL Pavilion in Eureka Park. XL 3D printing pioneer, Aectual has translated the Dutch story of innovation and sustainability into a 3D printed storyboard that references the Dutch 2022 CES theme: “Tech for a Responsible Future” and visualizes topics including clean energy, data security and climate change. The Netherlands continues to use innovation to combat climate change and sea level rise, as such water is a key theme in the design, as is the blue of the European Union flag. Additionally, the Dutch-American relationship is portrayed by a traditional Dutch Canal House that meets the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge. View a short video about how Aectual brought the design to life here.

Made from 100% circular, sustainable, recycled and renewable materials in the form of plant-based bioplastic, the room dividers were previously used as part of the seating area of the temporary convention center that was built in Amsterdam during the EU presidency of the Netherlands in 2016. The bioplastic can be recycled up to seven times and reprinted into new items. After use, Aectual takes back the building products and directly recycles and reprints them into new products. Depending on the product type, this results in a 35% to 95% material reduction due to its parametric designs, the number of materials needed, special manufacturing and product design optimization. Following CES, the room divider panels will be used at the Consulate General of the Netherlands in San Francisco. In its next life.

Nestwave and Samea Unveil Ultra-Low-Power Super-Thin, Re-Usable GPS Tracker

News Image

We have created a robust, re-usable, waterproof device with a multi-year battery life that opens up new possibilities for tracking.

Nestwave, a global technology leader in low-power geolocation for the IoT, has worked with IoT connectivity specialist Samea Innovation to develop a super-thin, re-usable logistics tracker with multi-year battery life. Unveiled at CES 2022, ThinTrack uses Nestwave’s innovative geolocation technology to create a very compact solution that combines GPS accuracy with a low power consumption that dramatically extends battery life when compared to alternative technologies.

The new ThinTrack GPS tracker is an ultra-compact GPS solution that integrates an LTE-M/NB-IoT modem, antenna, battery, SIM, sensors and all necessary electronics into a device measuring only 82 x 35 x 3mm and weighing just 15g. This makes it ideal for tracking individual items such as packages and letters where accurate positioning would not previously have been practical. Because Nestwave GPS location is implemented in software rather than hardware, the tracker does not require a dedicated GPS chipset. This results in a small bill of materials (BoM) and a low power consumption that supports multi-year operation from a single small battery.

ThinTrack’s small form factor has been made possible thanks to Nestwave’s NestCore IP that allows operation from a miniature battery, and Samea’s expertise in integrating radio functionality into space-limited designs. NestCore adds positioning functionality to existing cellular IoT chipsets by implementing a GPS receiver as software and using the connectivity chip’s existing radio and computing capabilities. This advanced location solution enables a very short time-to-first-fix, allowing for much lower power consumption without compromising on sensitivity or accuracy. A secure NFC smartphone app is used to activate the tracker and to read the individual item’s unique identifier.

“ThinTrack demonstrates how our geolocation solutions are opening up new opportunities for the global logistics industry,” says Ambroise Popper, Nestwave’s CEO. “By dramatically reducing component count and lowering power consumption, we have created a device with a form factor that supports insertion into envelopes or the plastic pouches used for shipping documentation and makes possible accurate tracking of individual items such as packages and letters which would not previously have been practical.”

Sébastien Amiot, Samea’s CEO adds: “We have created a robust, re-usable, waterproof device with a multi-year battery life that opens up new possibilities for tracking. Beyond logistics, ThinTrack is an ideal solution for locating and preventing the theft of luggage, high value designer goods and industrial tools.”

Tancred Taylor, Research Analyst at ABI Research also noted: “Integrating positioning capabilities into IoT nodes will open up significant new opportunities for a wide variety of tracking and logistics use cases. The key to addressing these opportunities is to make geolocation implementations smaller, more power-efficient and less expensive than conventional solutions. By offering accurate location without the need for a separate GPS chipset, Nestwave’s innovative hybrid IP and cloud-based approach supports all of these requirements, as the small form factor and low power consumption of ThinTrack illustrates.”

About Nestwave

Nestwave enables the proliferation of IoT geolocation by providing the smallest, most power efficient, lowest component count solutions. The company’s combination of IP and cloud services eliminates the need for conventional GPS/GNSS chipsets and dramatically reduces power consumption. Because of this, Nestwave technologies minimize the bill of materials, extend the battery life and speed up the time-to-market of accurate indoor and outdoor positioning and tracking applications. Nestwave IP can be incorporated into existing DSP cores and connectivity chips without re-design, while cloud-assisted implementation leverages the computation power of the cloud and keeps power consumption to a minimum.

The unprecedented power and BoM savings realized by Nestwave’s innovative technology significantly improve existing positioning and tracking applications. They also open the door to the integration of geolocation in applications where power and size limitations would previously have made this impossible. And by combining lower power consumption with the use of fewer components, Nestwave solutions contribute to environmental sustainability and reduced carbon footprints.

Homey, Europe’s Most Popular and Privacy-friendly Smart Home Hub Announces U.S. Retail Launch at CES 2022

Homey Logo

Every home is unique; it’s not one-size-fits-all. Most of today’s smart home systems are centered around a single brand, technology or use case.

Athom, makers of privacy-first smart home solutions, today announced the official retail launch of two new smart home products at CES 2022: Homey Bridge, the easy-to-use, affordable smart home hub that connects more than 50,000 smart home devices from more than 1,000 brands, and Homey App (iOS, Android and web browser), which allows users to customize and automate their entire smart home experience based on their personal habits and preferences. Embedded with six wireless technologies, Homey Bridge makes it easy for users to connect all of their smart home devices due to its compatibility with Zigbee, Z-Wave Plus, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 433MHz and Infrared. Homey Bridge retails at $69 and will be available starting in February at Amazon, BestBuy, The Home Depot and other big box retailers. It can currently be ordered in beta via the Homey website. The Homey app can be used to control smart home devices — either via Homey Bridge, or as an app-only solution without the need for Homey hardware. The free version of the Homey app controls up to five devices. The premium version enables an entire household to connect an unlimited number of smart devices, and is available for $2.99 per month. Athom will showcase Homey Bridge and the Homey app at CES 2022, January 5-8 at booth 51715 upstairs in the Venetian Expo, and at Showstoppers the evening of January 5 at the Wynn Hotel. Watch a teaser video of Homey here.

Unlike the Big Tech giants, Homey is built privacy-first. It doesn’t listen in or sell any customer data, nor does it use personal information to create user profiles or targeted advertisements. Homey comes packed with features — including Flow, Insights and Energy — which were developed over the past seven years for the Homey Pro smart home hub in the European market. Homey Flow enables users to create a series of automated rules that tie their devices together — independent of brand and technology — and help to run their smart homes most efficiently and conveniently. For example: “Always dim lights in the bedroom when the drapes close” or “Automatically turn the thermostat down, turn off the lights and enable the alarm when I lock the front door.” Flows can also be started using voice assistants, such as Google, Alexa and Siri Shortcuts, and via widgets for mobile and Apple Watch. Homey Insights gives users the ability to analyze their smart home usage via visual, easy-to-read graphs and charts. For example, users can track trends such as the temperature levels of their homes and thermostat over time, or how much energy their refrigerator uses in summer compared to winter. Homey Energy allows users to see their home’s energy usage in real-time, so they can make changes to increase their home’s sustainability. For example, a user can see how much energy their washing machine uses on ‘hot’ versus ‘warm’ wash cycles, and which rooms and devices use the most electricity.

Built as an open platform, the Homey App Store allows developers and manufacturers to jump in and extend support to more devices and services. Apps in the Homey App Store are used automatically in the background when users add a device, and ensure the Homey ecosystem is ever-evolving as new devices and services are added daily. The Homey App Store features more than 750 apps, including staff picks and popular apps that can be browsed by category for inspiration.

“Every home is unique; it’s not one-size-fits-all. Most of today’s smart home systems are centered around a single brand, technology or use case. For example, Philips Hue is great for lighting, but that’s all it does. As a result, your smart home can become complicated and cluttered quickly with all sorts of different apps. Our goal with Homey is to change the status quo and create an open, affordable, user-friendly system that unifies all smart devices and ensures consumer privacy at the same time,” said Emile Nijssen, co-founder and creative director of Athom, makers of Homey.

Game On! Picoo, The World’s First Outdoor Game Console For Kids to Debut at CES 2022

Picoo Logo

The goal of Picoo is to bring back the ‘neighborhood games’ we played as kids.

Picoo, an emerging educational software company, today announced plans to debut Picoo, the first outdoor game console for children at the 2022 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). Picoo is a portable and screenless console that requires no access to Wi-Fi or mobile networks during playtime, gets kids outdoors again, and helps to reverse the decline of fitness and physical literacy caused by excessive screen time. Press will be able to get “hands on” with Picoo for the first time during CES 2022, January 5 – 8 at booth 61928 at Eureka Park in the Venetian Expo, and at Showstoppers the evening of January 5 at the Wynn Hotel. Watch a short video of Picoo in action here.

According to Harvard Health, outdoor play is linked to children’s well-being, health, development and learning. However, outdoor play is increasingly uncommon because children spend much of their time indoors and on screens. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated this development as families were forced to maintain social distance and children spent nearly eight hours a day on computers or mobile devices — more than twice the time they spent online before the pandemic — and also needed to maintain social distance from other kids.

How Picoo Works.

The Picoo outdoor game console for kids bridges the divide between technology and classic outdoor play. It is targeted for kids from four to 12, with a range of classic games like Whack-a-Mole and Hide-and-Seek. Each Picoo controller includes a core processor, a memory chip, a speaker that plays sounds and audio, an accelerometer to detect and measure movement, a vibration motor that “buzzes”, a tag scanner to scan the game cards, a radio network to communicate with other Picoos, LED lights and On/Off button. Picoo is also always ready to play — no network connection is required to play so there’s no hassle with Wi-Fi, GPS, 4G or 5G; a connection to a accompanying Picoo smartphone app (iOS and Android) and Bluetooth is needed for version updates.

Adaptive Design and Inclusive Play.

Picoo’s adaptive design and inclusive play means every kid can participate in their own way and level — no one is excluded. Picoo adapts the challenge per child based on detected proficiency level during a game, and automatically ‘balances’ the playing field by increasing or decreasing challenges depending on how adept children are at the game. Picoo automatically creates teams, eliminates favoritism and the “last picked kid” phenomenon. It is ideal for mixed groups and enables children with and without special needs to play together. Games for children with special needs are also available. The end result is kids have fun with their friends while playing a computer game, and parents are happy as their children exercise and engage with their peers outdoors.

Excessive screen time has increased the risk of childhood obesity and frayed the social bonds that are integral for a child’s development. A total of 39 million children under the age of five were overweight or obese in 2020, according to the World Health Organization. Childhood obesity is associated with a higher chance of obesity, premature death and disability in adulthood.

“Children are healthier and happier when playing actively together, and Picoo’s lack of a screen is 100% by design. The goal of Picoo is to bring back the ‘neighborhood games’ we played as kids. In today’s digital and always connected world where many kids spend hours looking at a digital device or screen, playing together outdoors is no longer a rite of passage,” said Picoo CEO and co-founder, Iris Soute. “Picoo offers fun, intuitive gameplay and allows anyone to play, regardless of skill or physical ability — without requiring kids to stare at a screen. The combination of classic games with cutting edge technology gets kids moving again, helps them to build bonds with other kids in the outdoors and reduces the risk of obesity and long-term health issues.”

HYTE Announces the New Y60 ATX PC Case and eclipse HG10 Gaming Headset

HYTE eclipse HG10 Gaming Headset

HYTE, the new PC components, peripherals, and lifestyle brand of iBUYPOWER, a leading manufacturer of high-performance custom gaming PCs, today announced the upcoming additions to its product portfolio, the HYTE Y60 ATX PC case and the HYTE eclipse HG10 gaming headset.

Y60 ATX Case

The HYTE Y60 ATX PC case features panoramic views of the internal components made possible by the bezel-less, three-part, removable, tempered glass panels that flank the side and front of the case. When the glass panels are removed, chamfered molding on the ceiling and floor of the case draw the eye inward, creating a modern aesthetic and allowing the system to be displayed sans glass panels. Users will have the option to choose from three colorways, white and black, black and black, and red and black, to best fit the aesthetic of their setup.

“We drove the engineers crazy with the Y60,” said Brad Soken, Lead Product Manager of HYTE. “As a product team, we had an obsession over design details to really make the case evoke a sense of excitement and joy, even if some of it was incredibly difficult to manufacture. The end result made it worth it though, in the end, you get a case that makes you experience that joy simply by looking at your system, even when you aren’t using it.”

Designed to exclusively mount the graphics card in a vertical orientation, the HYTE Y60 comes equipped with a 4.0 PCIe riser cable to support the latest and highest performing cards on the market. The riser canopy is color matched to the external color of the case to create a unified design, while the graphics card mounts just below the floor of the case to hide the PCB and slot below it. Additionally, the Y60 allows for the installation of half-height expansion cards, capture cards, or PCIe SSDs behind the vertically mounted graphics card.

The HYTE Y60 was carefully crafted with a continuous ventilation pattern that waterfalls over the top of the case, down the rear-side, and continues to the internal floor of the case. Three, 120 mm fans come pre-installed in the Y60; one in the rear for exhaust and two in the basement of the case to prioritize the cooling of the graphics card. Users will have the ability to mount radiators in two locations with compatibility of up 280 mm on the side and up to 360 mm on the top.

eclipse HG10

The HYTE eclipse HG10 wireless gaming headset will feature a sleek, matte lunar grey finish with premium vegan leather lining the plush foam headband and half-moon shaped ear cups. Users can comfortably wear the HG10 during extended hours of game play without experiencing fatigue and discomfort. Mute and volume controls are conveniently located on the back of the headset for on-the-fly adjustments.

“The eclipse punches up,” said Rob Teller, Lead Roadmap Architect of HYTE. “We maxed out all the essentials to create high-impact enjoyment at an affordable price.”

For precision sound, the eclipse HG10 comes equipped with 40 mm neodymium drivers tuned for 20 hz to 20 kHz and a detachable unidirectional microphone for clear communication and to mitigate the possibility of background noise. The gaming headset connects via competition-grade 2.4 GHz USB Type-A wireless transmitter.

The eclipse HG10 is a market-leader in wireless headsets boasting a 30-hour battery life thanks to its high-capacity, lithium-ion battery. To charge the HG10, users can connect the included USB Type-A to USB Type-C charging cable and continue use without interruption.

Pricing and Availability

The HYTE Y60 is expected to be available for purchase, globally, for a starting MSRP of $199 USD in March 2022.

SealPath And Getvisibility Join Forces To Expand AI-Powered Data Classification And Zero-Trust Document Protection Solutions

Getvisibility and SealPath partner on AI powered data classification and Zero-Trust document protection

SEALPATH GETVISIBILITY PARTNERSHIP

Both stored data and data-in-creation are rapidly classified and protected through AI, with minimal drain on resources and requiring minimal time.

Getvisibility, a leading worldwide provider of enterprise data security and classification software, and SealPath, a leading provider of zero-trust data-centric security and enterprise digital rights management, announced a powerful integration of their conjoined technologies to help organisations ensure a seamless automatic Data Classification and Protection.

Getvisibility provides state-of-the-art unstructured data discovery and classification using advanced machine learning for unparalleled speed and accuracy. Sealpath enables organisations to protect their sensitive documents with unbeatable ease of use wherever they travel. The integration of these two solutions allows incomparable data protection speed and precision.

The direct connection between Getvisibility’s Focus and Synergy Pro and Sealpath’s IRM allows both stored data and data-in-creation to be rapidly classified and protected through AI, with minimal drain on resources and requiring minimal time.

Getvisibility utilises the latest technology in Deep Learning Artificial Intelligence, giving organisations visibility, control, and a dynamic understanding of their data as it is being created. Getvisibility is designed to process and classify unstructured information as it is being created with an unprecedented level of classification confidence. Getvisibility enables organisations to understand their data footprint and current data risk posture, allowing proactive data management and security.

SealPath’s intelligent protection accompanies the document on your network, a client’s network, a partner’s network, in the cloud, or on a mobile device. The protection travels with the file. It offers complete visibility regarding the access and the access’s timing. Moreover, it informs you if anyone is trying to access the file without permission. With one click, SealPath allows data access to be restricted, in real-time, even if this data is in the hands of other users. SealPath differentiates itself through its flexibility to integrate with the standard corporate tools and user-friendliness.

Via SealPath’s management console, the administrator can associate Getvisibility’s taxonomies and classification tags with specific protection policies. When a classified file with a certain level of sensitivity is detected, it will be protected automatically, without user intervention.

This automatic protection is in place when the user is editing a file in Office, through the context menu on a file, with an email in Outlook, or in the process of discovering information stored in file servers, document management systems, or cloud storage systems.

“At SealPath, we are continuously working on smart solutions for organisations that allow them to implement effective measures to protect their sensitive data, where automatisation is a key point. The synergy between the two tools, the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning of Getvisibility, joined with the Zero-Trust approach and automatisation of protection of SealPath, is a great advance for our clients, who I am sure will benefit from their enhanced data protection strategy.” – says Luis Ángel del Valle, CEO of SealPath.

“Ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data is a security fundamental. To achieve this, organisations need to know where the data is, what is contained within data files and who has access to them. Add in cloud migration needs, and the process of securing data while staying compliant becomes even more challenging”, says Mark Brosnan, MD of Getvisibility. “This agreement with Sealpath will yield exciting benefits for our global customers and partners.”
