On January 28, 2020, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office granted Conio Inc. U.S. Patent No. 10,547,441 for Method and Apparatus for Restoring Access to Digital Assets.

Founded in 2015 in San Francisco by Italian natives Vincenzo Di Nicola and Christian Miccoli, Conio is a blockchain startup with offices in both the US and Italy, that makes cryptocurrencies easy and safe to use for the general public. Conio is funded by Poste Italiane (Italy’s largest state-controlled financial institution) and other banks.

Conio offers digital wallet services through both its consumer app and in white and private label versions to banks. Object Management Group Issues DDS C# API Request for Proposal

We believe this new API will facilitate the development of a new array of DDS applications that are compatible with the .NET ecosystem, expanding the use of DDS to new domains within and beyond the Industrial IoT.

Today, international technology standards organization Object Management Group® (OMG®) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) for a new C# API for the Data Distribution Standard (DDS). OMG issued the DDS C# API RFP because DDS users and vendors alike need an interoperable API for the C# programming language. The new API will enable the deployment of new, vendor-neutral applications in a variety of industries.

Data Distribution Service (DDS™) is an OMG middleware protocol and API standard for data-centric connectivity that is widely used in business and mission-critical Internet of Things (IoT) applications because of its low latency, high reliability and scalability. The DDS specification uses a model-driven approach and relies upon APIs to map applications to specific programming languages, such as Java and C++.

“The use of standard frameworks and ecosystems is crucial in the development of next-generation industrial IoT systems. DDS provides a set of standard APIs that enable users to develop portable vendor-independent applications using their programming language of choice,” said RFP author Fernando Garcia Aranda, Principal Software Engineer at Real-Time Innovations (RTI). “In this RFP, we aim to define a standard C# API for DDS. We believe this new API will facilitate the development of a new array of DDS applications that are compatible with the .NET ecosystem, expanding the use of DDS to new domains within and beyond the Industrial IoT.”

The DDS C# API Request for Proposal is open to the public. The deadline to respond with a letter of intent, that a company is interested in responding, is March 19, 2020. Responses are due by May 18, 2020. The full request and details on how to respond can be found in the RFP.

Zaloni Data Platform v5.2 Release Accelerates Data Value with New Augmented Catalog and Consumption Features

In addition to availability in the Azure Marketplace, Zaloni has announced the latest release of the Zaloni Data Platform, v5.2. The release expands upon data cataloging and consumption features, making it easy for data analysts, scientists and business users to access, prepare and provision data in a secure and governed way.

Data Ingestion Directly From the Data Catalog

Previously, Zaloni expanded the data catalog beyond the data lake to include data from relational data sources in both cloud and on-premises environments, helping companies conquer their data sprawl challenges. In v5.2, users can easily catalog data from any relational database and then ingest that data into a data lake (on-premises or cloud) in just a few simple clicks. This feature allows users to catalog data wherever it resides and then take action upon the data directly within the data catalog, reducing reliance on IT. In addition to ingestion, users can provision the data to a target destination of their choice. Once data is ingested, an entity is created and lineage is tracked, providing traceability and improving data confidence.

Governed Data Provisioning and Augmented Data Catalog

Zaloni’s unique approach for end consumers to provision trusted data in an intuitive shopping cart interface is a critical capability of its augmented data catalog. In v5.2, Zaloni has expanded data provisioning to include data and custom analytics sandboxes. The analytics sandboxes include the data, tools, and an environment in which data can be analyzed, helping data analysts spend more time on analytics and less time on finding, preparing and provisioning data. Additionally, Zaloni added the ability for companies to define a “request-approval” workflow in the provisioning process where data consumers are required to request permission from data owners before provisioning the data. This feature provides an added layer of control and governance and easily integrates with ticketing systems, such as ServiceNow.
