Nautilus Labs and Danelec Marine Announce Data & IoT Integration for Predictive Decision Support

Nautilus Labs

Nautilus Labs

“We believe ‘interoperability’ will be the defining term of this decade—and that applies to organizations, as much as it does technology.”

Nautilus Labs, the technology firm advancing the efficiency of ocean commerce through artificial intelligence, and Danelec Marine, the leading maritime data transmission service and navigation systems manufacturer—today announced a new data and IoT integration for predictive analytics and decision support.

“The underlying, raw material of every decision made at sea is data,” said Leigh Jaffe, who leads partnerships at Nautilus. “But that data is only valuable when it’s freed from system silos, reliably delivered back to shore, and transformed into actionable information for teams. We believe ‘interoperability’ will be the defining term of this decade—and that applies to organizations, as much as it does technology. And in this era of open ecosystems, we’re extremely excited to join forces with forward thinking, service-oriented OEMs like Danelec—for the benefit of their clients and ours.”

Denmark-based Danelec has more than 20 years of experience with maritime data technology. The company operates globally through an extensive network of authorized service partners with 600+ certified service technicians who have installed over 6,000 proprietary systems on vessels worldwide.

One of the main barriers for widespread adoption of IoT in the maritime industry includes the complexity and high cost of implementation. Danelec Marine addresses this challenge with their “ship-2-shore” cloud-based data solution, DanelecConnect, along with their small electronic remote server (VRS) that connects with the ship’s Voyage Data Recorder (VDR) and a vast array of analog, digital or serial sensors throughout the vessel.

With Nautilus Platform, DanelecConnect commercial and technical clients will be able to directly access a user-friendly, actionable UI for historical, real-time, and predictive vessel data and analytics.

Expanding on this announcement, Casper Jensen, Danelec’s Chief Operating Officer, noted, “With our simple and reliable ship data collection and processing along with the cost reduction of ship-to-shore communications, many more ships can—and will—be IoT-enabled within the next few years. Fleet optimization is no longer just an option in today’s very competitive shipping industry; it’s the only way for ship operators to manage their vessels and succeed. We’re delighted to work with Nautilus Labs in transforming the maritime industry, together.”

ABOUT DANELEC MARINE

Headquartered in Denmark, Danelec Marine is a leading supplier of Voyage Data Recorders (VDRs), ship-to-shore data communication systems and Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS). Danelec Marine was one of the first companies to bring to market VDRs and Simplified VDRs (S-VDRs) to meet the original IMO carriage requirements. More than 6,000 vessels today are equipped with a VDR or S-VDR designed and manufactured by Danelec Marine. The company has service facilities with factory-trained personnel in more than 50 countries and Certified Service Centers at strategic locations worldwide. ABOUT NAUTILUS

Ocean commerce consumes over $100 billion dollars of fuel every year, nearly a third of which is the result of needless overconsumption. For owner-operators, reliance on manually collected and analyzed data makes it difficult to optimize fleet performance in real time. By providing a unified data platform that leverages machine learning, Nautilus helps clients make better decisions by maximizing the return for every vessel and voyage—and drive closer collaboration, greater transparency, and stronger accountability across their full fleets and shoreside teams, in real time. G2M Insights to launch AI practice focused on transforming Enterprise Go-To-Market

G2M Insights brings the right mix of business savvy, talent, and technology to deliver quick wins

Earlier this month G2M Insights, a business and technology consulting firm focused on supporting the go-to-market strategy and execution of Enterprise clients, announced its business launch. Founded by award-winning industry veterans Derek Azuara, Pierre Elisseeff, and Garrett Sznip, the firm brings deep expertise in Sales, Marketing, Finance and Technology to support the needs of its Enterprise clients in all areas at the intersection of go-to-market strategy, digital transformation, and AI enablement.

Building on decades of experience developing innovative strategies with leading-edge technology, G2M Insights will develop tailored solutions for its clients leveraging their data ecosystem to improve strategy and operations in the areas of go-to-market strategy, pricing strategy, customer analytics, and AI enablement.

“AI is impacting our clients’ go-to-market strategy and technology stack today just as much as the web changed the game twenty years ago” said G2M Insights partner Derek Azuara. “For all the hype about AI, you can’t take advantage of the technology until you get your data ecosystem in good shape. We can make a huge difference for our clients by bringing them up to speed faster, or even leap-frogging legacy approaches.”

“Change is hard, we see it every day with our clients. Years of de-layering enterprise teams has made it even more difficult to implement business analytics with the right resources” said G2M Insights partner Pierre Elisseeff. “We bring our clients the right mix of people and technology to deliver quick wins, grounded in sound analytics, while we support their AI journey and transformation for long-term change.”

“The pricing game has changed. Look around your industry; if you’re not leading the way you’re likely about to get outmaneuvered by your competitors” said G2M Insights partner Garrett Sznip. “Cloud and AI-based technologies enable companies to price with surgical accuracy and at scale, enabling price targeting across a large base of prospects and customers. We help our clients get an edge and deliver tremendous value in the process.”

The promise of artificial intelligence has never been so tantalizing, yet so challenging. Most enterprises show a real interest in leveraging the technology, with about 78% of firms planning or implementing AI-based solutions, according to Forrester Research. However, only 17% of projects make it into production with over 50% of projects outright failing according to a recent IDC survey. But the effort is well worth it as Forrester points out a growing gap in business performance between data leaders and legacy firms. The future belongs to insights-driven businesses.

Cybereason’s Nocturnus Researchers Discover New, Targeted Cyber Espionage Campaigns in the Middle East

“We suspect Molerats are carrying out these campaigns to obtain sensitive information from its victims to leverage for political purposes. The malicious files relate to political affairs in the Middle East and other political entities in the region,” said one of Cybereason’s Nocturnus researchers.

Cybereason, creators of the leading Cyber Defense Platform, today released an investigative research report from its Nocturnus Research Group titled ‘New Cyber Espionage Campaigns Targeting Palestinians’ looking at the MoleRATs cybercrime group and two new campaigns happening simultaneously targeting organizations and individuals in the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza Strip. In the past few years, this group attacked Israel and other countries in the region.

The two new campaigns differ in tools, server infrastructure and nuances in decoy content and intended targets. Cybereason is attributing The Spark and Pierogi Campaigns to MoleRATs (aka The Gaza Cybergang), an Arabic-speaking, politically motivated group that has operated in the Middle East since 2012.

“We suspect MoleRATs are carrying out these campaigns to obtain sensitive information from its victims to leverage for political purposes. The malicious files relate to political affairs in the Middle East, with specific references to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, tension between Hamas and Fatah, and other political entities in the region. There are indications that suggest that Pierogi backdoor was authored by Ukrainian-speaking malware developers,” said one of Cybereason’s Nocturnus researchers.

About The Spark Campaign

This campaign uses social engineering to infect victims, mainly from the Palestinian territories, with the Spark backdoor. This backdoor first emerged in January 2019 and the threat actors are taking advantage of recent geopolitical events, espeically the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the assassination of Qasem Soleimani, and the ongoing conflict between Hamas and Fatah Palestinian movements to lure victims into opening tainted files or documents.

About The Pierogi Campaign

This campaign uses social engineering attacks to infect victims with a new, undocumented backdoor dubbed Pierogi. This backdoor first emerged in December 2019, and was discovered by Cybereason. In this campaign, the attackers use different TTPs and decoy documents reminiscent of previous campaigns by MoleRATs involving the Micropsi a and Kaperagent malware. Cybereason suspects that the Pierogi backdoor may have been created by Ukrainian-speaking hackers, rather than by the MoleRATs group, based on Ukrainian language found in the code of the backdoor.

Cybereason is Joined by Law Enforcement Officials in an Election Security Exercise Before First Democratic Primary

News Image

Members of state and federal law enforcement agencies were on hand recently at Operation Blackout New Hampshire

Cybereason, creators of the leading Cyber Defense Platform, together with federal officials from DHS and US Service Service and Manchester, Concord and Nashua Police Officers, recently participated in Operation Blackout New Hampshire, a simulation of an election day hack in a fictitious US city, Adversaria.

The goal of the tabletop exercise was to examine and advance the organizational responsiveness of government entities to a hacking group’s attempts to undermine democratic institutions and systems of governance in the republic.

Most election hacking discussions and exercises focus on the mechanics and minutiae of hacking election equipment or contaminating and violating the integrity of voter rolls. This exercise explicitly excluded hacking election equipment from consideration to focus instead on everything else in the electoral system.

“Though the red team was able to disrupt the election, the blue team effectively used their existing capabilities across the state and federal levels to main public safety. Law enforcement officials created open lines with media sources and social media companies to limit misinformation being spread, which was crucial in ensuring the integrity of all votes,” said Israel Barak, Cybereason’s Chief Information Security Officer and exercise facilitator.

Actionable Insights for Law Enforcement

*Communication is Key: Use media effectively to counteract the effects of misinformation through other channels.

*Use Multiple Channels: Have several alternate means of communication. *Assume that cell phones can be compromised and social media is unreliable.

*Coordinate with major providers of infrastructure and transportation ahead of time. Understanding where things like the power grid are vulnerable can help prevent potential attacks on key utilities.

*Collaborate with Other Government Agencies: Take advantage of government resources to augment existing law enforcement and provide additional intelligence.

*Develop Playbooks: Run specific-to-your city tabletop exercises that account for existing idiosyncrasies in your community, city, and other relationships.

*Take Region Into Account: As with any good police work, understand the regional nuances and sensitivities in the community to adequately prepare for when they will be manipulated or put at odds.

We engineered this next-generation platform to continue our vision of giving our customers access to the fastest and best cloud solutions that deliver unmatched performance and value.

Leading Data Center and Cloud Hosting Solutions provider TurnKey Internet announced today the launch of their all-new 10G enterprise-class Cloud and Dedicated Servers. The newly launched 10G servers were built from the ground up with ultra-performance at the core, targeting business and enterprise users.

TurnKey Internet’s 10Gbps Dedicated Servers are built on top of a next-generation architecture with purpose driven hardware, providing the new servers with significantly faster performance. The servers are connected to TurnKey’s recently upgraded multiple 100G Juniper edge network infrastructure and core network switching components by Cisco, allowing each dedicated server to utilize 10 Gigabit dedicated network speeds (10Gbps up x 10Gbps down), which is up to 10,000x faster than DSL, and 1000x faster than typical cable broadband services.

Along with the new 10G Dedicated Servers, TurnKey also launched their all-new Pro Series Cloud Servers. Built upon the same next generation 100G platform as TurnKey’s dedicated servers, the new cloud servers feature a combination of 10 Gigabit dedicated bandwidth and local SSD storage arrays with redundant data recovery technology that ultimately provides over 600,000 DISK IOPS – input/output operations per second.
