A+ is committed to our mission of Making a Smarter & Safer World and this collaboration with West Islip and the Suffolk County S.H.A.R.E program is a great step.

A+ Technology & Security Solutions, Inc. a pioneer in school security technology has successfully connected West Islip Public Schools to the Suffolk County Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center. This collaboration, established under the Suffolk County S.H.A.R.E School Safety initiative allows for the SCPD to access the security systems of the district in the event of an emergency.

“Every second matters when it comes to school safety and the Suffolk County Police Department is dedicated to mitigating any potentially dangerous situation in West Islip Public Schools as quickly and effectively as possible,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Geraldine Hart said. “S.H.A.R.E is another opportunity to work collaboratively with our school districts such as West Islip, to ensure the safety of our youngest residents.”

The team at A+ connected state of the art Axis Communications IP Cameras along with Milestone Systems video management software at West Islip, to the Milestone system A+ previously installed at the Suffolk County Real Time Crime Center. This connection was accomplished with no additional costs for the school district and allows for SCPD officers to have access to the system only in the event of an emergency, both on the scene and back at the crime center.

”We are proud to be a district in Suffolk County successfully up and running on the S.H.A.R.E program,” stated Reanna Fulton, Director of Technology for West Islip Pubic Schools. ”A+ had us connected to the SCPD real time crime center prior to the winter school break and there is low risk to our network and a very high return for school safety in the event of an emergency.”

The initiative will enhance the efficiency of a an SCPD response to an active shooter scenario by fostering more collaboration and information sharing. Police officers will be directed towards specific entry points and locations in a school building, to neutralize or prevent an incident from occurring in a much more rapid manner. For school districts like West Islip that have video management systems, the S.H.A.R.E initiative enables the police department to access these features and the associated cameras for emergency responders as needed during an emergency situation.

“We will do whatever it takes to protect our schools by utilizing every available tool and partnership at our disposal,” said Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone. “The S.H.A.R.E. initiative gives our police department the ability to have eyes inside the West Islip School Buildings should an emergency ever occur so they can determine exactly where to go, saving precious time.”

“A+ is committed to our mission of Making a Smarter & Safer World and this collaboration with West Islip and the Suffolk County S.H.A.R.E program is a great step,” states David Antar President of A+ Technology and Security Solutions Inc. “As a Suffolk County based company these students are our children, grandchildren and neighbors and we are committed to their safety. West Islip is among the first districts to join the program and we hope many others will soon follow.”

Morphisec Launches Unified Threat Prevention Platform 4.0

Morphisec Logo

Linux is the most popular operating system for enterprises on Microsoft’s Azure today and we’re excited to bring moving target defense to our customer’s Linux servers to cover an existing security gap in cloud workloads in a way no other prevention tool can.

Morphisec, the leader in Moving Target Defense, today launched version 4.0 of its Unified Threat Prevention Platform at the RSA Conference in San Francisco. Morphisec’s 4.0 release adds protection for Linux operating systems to expand its market-leading, deterministic prevention of in-memory attacks and evasive malware to servers and cloud workloads. This advanced Cloud Workload Protection Platform (CWPP) also provides better visibility into the attack chain and detailed reporting on blocked server threats.

The launch of Linux support comes on the heels of Morphisec announcing AWS Security Competency Status for cloud server workload protection and VMware Ready Partnership Status for Horizon VDI Protection as its costumers across more than 5 million endpoints increasingly move to cloud workloads and virtual desktops. These organizations are demanding an additional layer of advanced threat protection as they transfer more of their ongoing operations into the cloud.

“Linux is the most popular operating system for enterprises on Microsoft’s Azure today and we’re excited to bring moving target defense to our customer’s Linux servers to cover an existing security gap in cloud workloads in a way no other prevention tool can,” said Netta Schmeidler, VP of Product at Morphisec. “Morphisec’s preventative approach to cloud workload protection with version 4.0 scrambles memory structures to hide it from attackers while mitigating false positives and eliminating manual configuration overhead.”

The Morphisec Unified Threat Prevention Platform was developed to prevent all such advanced threats without generating alerts to chase, impacting system performance, or impeding business operations. Its patented Moving Target Defense technology stops attacks deterministically, without requiring knowledge of threat type or relying on indicators of compromise (IOC), making it highly effective against zero-day and unknown threats. With this latest release, Morphisec continues to deliver on its promise to provide powerful, resilient security as organizations move to more agile cloud and virtual environments.

“Cloud server workloads are being increasingly targeted by sophisticated adversaries,” added Andrew Homer, VP of Business Development at Morphisec. “Whitelisting application controls are not enough to protect servers. Infiltration and exploitation techniques utilized by adversaries have one thing in common—they’re designed to evade detection and move laterally in order to inflict maximum damage. Morphisec’s in-memory protection thwarts lateral movement by attackers from workstations to servers, protects administrators from document and supply chain attacks, and secures virtual applications.”

Additionally, Morphisec’s Unified Threat Prevention Platform 4.0 includes these new features:

  • Executive Reports: An extensive graphic report describing security posture and attacks compared to global trends. Available as a download or scheduled email update.
  • Morphisec for MSSPs: Increased management capabilities for MSSPs that need to manage multiple customers in a single dashboard with the full capabilities of the Morphisec Unified Threat Prevention Platform.
  • Expanded Prevention Capabilities: Further protection against credential-stealing attacks that aim to escalate privileges and alter processes.

To learn more about how the Morphisec Threat Prevention Platform 4.0 can protect cloud workloads and servers, visit the Morphisec team at Booth #4515 at the RSA Conference or online at: https://www.morphisec.com/products/.

Improving security, reducing risks, and building trust around IoT edge devices is critical for creating value and business outcomes from an IoT ecosystem

At the RSA® Conference 2020 in San Francisco, California, Allegro Software, a leading supplier of security and connectivity software for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced a configuration of the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite for Amazon FreeRTOS. The adaptation adds FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1.3) as a drop-in replacement for existing TLS v1.2 along with advanced device management and IoT edge security capabilities. The Allegro EdgeAgent Suite is ideally suited to work in concert with Amazon FreeRTOS deployed in resource sensitive IoT execution environments like IoTanium, a reference hardware platform for rapid IoT development from Onica, a Premier Consulting Partner in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network (APN). The Allegro EdgeAgent Suite is delivered as ANSI-C source and can be used to quickly build customized IoTanium based proof of concept applications to production-ready IoT edge solutions.

FIPS 140-2 AND TLS V1.3 FROM THE IOT EDGE

Millions of businesses trust AWS to power their infrastructure, applications, and now their IoT ecosystems. The use of AWS allows enterprises to lower costs, become more agile, and innovate faster during their development cycle. This is especially true when building IoT ecosystems where business outcomes are derived from IoT data and drive the resulting actions. With such high values placed on outcomes derived from IoT telemetry, IoT edge data security and authenticity play a critical role. To bolster IoT data security, major cloud service platforms are deploying TLS v1.3 along with cloud access points configured with FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography to better secure data collected from IoT edge devices. Although FIPS 140-2 is a U.S./Canadian Federal standard, FIPS 140-2 compliance has been widely adopted around the world in both governmental and non-governmental sectors as a practical security benchmark and realistic best practice. As major cloud platforms endorse and deploy TLS v1.3 and FIPS 140-2 configured access points, Allegro extends this trend to the IoT edge with the availability of the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite for Amazon FreeRTOS. By employing advanced security features found in TLS v1.3 together with FIPS validated cryptography, IoT edge device manufacturers can improve device security, reduce risks associated with data transport across unsecured networks, and ultimately build trust around their products.

ADVANCED DEVICE MANAGEMENT FOR IOT DEVICES AT THE EDGE

The Allegro EdgeAgent Suite provides additional device management and communications capabilities for IoT edge devices running Amazon FreeRTOS. For applications where IoT edge devices have local management requirements, the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite provides web-based device management via field-proven embedded web server technology in addition to an extremely powerful Command Line Interface (CLI) capability. Some IoT applications require flexible deployment architectures that utilize IoT edge gateway devices to bridge communications between other edge devices and cloud platforms. For these cases, the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite provides support on Amazon FreeRTOS for parsing and framing XML and JSON messages using SOAP or JSON services to bridge IoT devices and IoT gateway devices.

“The increasing use of IoT edge devices that are driving digital business transformations can introduce new and unseen risks to a business network. Security and risk managers are concerned with potential access to sensitive data, sabotage, loss of control to botnets, exposed IoT entry points that can lead to a major network security breach and more as they deploy IoT edge devices,” says Bob Van Andel, President of Allegro. “Using the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite is another way IoT edge device manufacturers can proactively build trust by improving security with FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography and TLS v1.3 at the edge of their IoT networks.”

“Improving security, reducing risks, and building trust around IoT edge devices is critical for creating value and business outcomes from an IoT ecosystem,” says Tolga Tarhan, Senior Vice President, GM AWS Services at Onica. “We are excited to work with Allegro Software to help extend the use of FIPS validated cryptography and latest TLS v1.3 to IoT edge devices for better security.”

Allegro Software Expands IoT Edge Framework with Support for TLS v1.3

Allegro ACE FIPS 140-2 Validation

Allegro Logo

Ensuring data privacy and integrity from the IoT edge are critical when decisions and actions are taken based on business analytics derived from the collected data

BOXBOROUGH, MA and SAN FRANCISCO, CA February 24, 2020 – At the RSA® Conference 2020 in San Francisco, California, Allegro Software, a leading supplier of security and connectivity software for the Internet of Things (IoT), today announced an advanced solution for securing data-in-motion with Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1.3 in their RomSTL (TLS Client and Server) software toolkit. TLS is considered the standard for encrypting data-in-motion and the latest version, TLS v1.3, provides improved privacy, performance, and end-to-end data security. As a result, global enterprises are rapidly adopting the standard. With the majority of cloud service providers having deployed TLS v1.3, the time is ideal for IoT devices to add improved security and do the same. Allegro’s RomSTL fully supports TLS v1.3 and is ideally suited for use in edge devices deployed in transportation, military, energy, healthcare and other critical infrastructure environments where securing data-in-motion is a requirement.

ROMSTL FOR IOT EDGE DEVICES: FASTER AND MORE SECURE TLS

Billions of IoT edge devices are finding their way into Department of Homeland Security (DHS) designated critical infrastructure ecosystems. The rich data streams from these edge devices drive next generation digital business systems, operational ecosystems, and valuable business outcomes. Data integrity is critical to harness the full benefits of these business outcomes. TLS provides a critical component for maintaining privacy and data integrity between deployed IoT edge devices and their cloud-based ecosystems.

Engineered for resource constraint IoT devices, Allegro’s RomSTL delivers the latest in standards-based data-in-motion encryption with support for TLS v1.3. The latest standard increases performance with improved handshaking protocols cutting encryption latency in half. The standard also improves security by simplifying the protocol and removing obsolete and insecure features of TLS 1.2 including SHA-1, RC4, DES, 3DES, AES-CBC, MD5, arbitrary Diffie-Hellman groups (CVE-2016-0701), and EXPORT strength ciphers. A member of the Allegro EdgeAgent Suite, a robust collection of security and connectivity components, RomSTL is highly configurable to meet the exacting needs of your IoT edge device.

IOT EDGE DEVICES UTILIZING TLS 1.3 WITH FIPS 140-2 VALIDATED CRYPTOGRAPHY

In addition to supporting TLS 1.3, Allegro’s RomSTL leverages FIPS 140-2 validated cryptography from the Allegro Cryptography Engine (ACE) for all data encryption. ACE is specifically designed to meet the critical needs of embedded IoT computing environments and is one of the smallest, fastest, and most comprehensive FIPS 140-2 validated modules on the market. Intrinsic ID Wins InfoSec Award for ‘Most Innovative Internet of Things Security’ Company – Announced at RSA Conference by Cyber Defense Magazine

Intrinsic ID

It is great that our team’s innovations, which have been deployed in more than 170 million devices by an impressive group of Tier 1 companies, have been recognized by Cyber Defense Magazine at this year’s RSA Conference. – Pim Tuyls, CEO, Intrinsic ID

Intrinsic ID, the world’s leading provider of PUF-based digital authentication technology for Internet of Things security and embedded applications, today announced it has been named Most Innovative Internet of Things Security’ in the 2020 InfoSec Awards by Cyber Defense Magazine. Winners were announced today in conjunction with the RSA Conference in San Francisco, where Intrinsic ID is exhibiting in booth #3327 at Moscone Center.

“The Intrinsic ID team continually comes up with innovative solutions in anticipation of the ongoing creativity of cyber hackers. It is great that our team’s innovations, which have been deployed in more than 170 million devices by an impressive group of Tier 1 companies, have been recognized by Cyber Defense Magazine at this year’s RSA Conference,” said Pim Tuyls, chief executive officer of Intrinsic ID. “Combatting cyber threats is an ongoing game of ‘cat and mouse,’ and I am very proud of the accomplishments our engineers make on an almost daily basis to make the IoT a safer place even for devices built on the most advanced technologies available.”

Intrinsic ID’s patented SRAM PUF (Physical Unclonable Function) technology is the basis for deriving unclonable identities for products connected to the IoT. The company’s secure root key generation and management software solutions for IoT security enable device manufacturers to secure their products with an unclonable identity such as a unique secret root key without the need for adding a costly, standalone, security-dedicated silicon.

“We’re thrilled to name Intrinsic ID a winner as Most Innovative Internet of Things Security company in our InfoSec Awards program,” said Gary S. Miliefsky, publisher, Cyber Defense Magazine. “They won this award because they pioneered IoT security via unclonable identities based on SRAM PUF technology – an innovative approach to defeating the next generation of cybercriminals.”

“With cybercrime heading into the tens of billions of records stolen and potentially trillions of dollars in damages, we are proud to recognize Intrinsic ID as an award-winning innovator that offers a new approach to defeat these criminals,” said Pierlugi Paganini, editor in chief, Cyber Defense Magazine.
