Student Safe Driving Contest Saves Lives and Pays Off for Students

[ad_1]

www.createrealimpact.com

Winners of the 2019 Fall Create Real Impact Contest have been announced.

We continue to support this important initiative because it saves lives.

Driving safely shouldn’t be scary. This Halloween, messages to prevent distracted driving are paying off for students across the country, in the 2019 Fall Create Real Impact contest from Impact Teen Drivers and California Casualty. A total of $12,000 is being awarded for artistic efforts to educate others about the dangers of distractions behind the wheel. The awards were announced in conjunction with National Teen Driver Safety Week, a reminder to all, especially young drivers, to keep hands on the wheel, eyes on the road and the mind focused on the drive.

The following students were chosen for $1,500 grand prize educational grants:

  • Brad Kendrick, Logan, UT, in the video category for “Drive Safe Mate!”
  • Everen Graves, San Diego, CA, in the music category for the song “For You and I”
  • Lilly Millard, Hockessin, DE, in the writing category for the prose “A Great Multitasker”
  • Kendal Johnson, Cumberland, MD, in the art category for the poster “The Get Settled Campaign”

The schools with the most entries were Village Academy High School in Pomona, California; Cab Calloway School of the Arts in Wilmington, DE; and Our Lady of Lourdes Academy in Miami, FL. Each school is being awarded $1,000.

Five hundred dollar awards for the most online votes are going to: Montana Schrader, Allendale, MI, for the poem, “No Worries;” Yoosung Jung, Yorba Linda, CA, for the video, “Alternative Reality;” Helen Dang, Pomona, CA, for the poster, “Distractions Are Deadly;” and Katie Panyanouvong, Fremont, CA, for the song, “At the Stoplight,” written about a friend who died from a reckless driver.

The Create Real Impact Contest challenges students ages 14-22 to make a difference in the battle to stop unnecessary crashes, the number one killer of teens in the United States. Students across the nation entered creative works showcasing solutions to reckless and distracted driving at http://www.createrealimpact.com.

The equation is simple: teen drivers are more likely to be involved in a deadly crash caused by texting, interacting with passengers or just not paying attention behind the wheel, but they are the best messengers to their peers about the dangers of inattentive driving.

The Create Real Impact contest was initiated in 2009 as a proactive solution to the deadly epidemic of inattentive driving by teens. Research shows distraction is a key factor in almost 60 percent of crashes involving drivers ages 16 to 19. Empowering messages convincing other teens to adopt safer driving attitudes and avoid the tragic result of bad choices behind the wheel can save lives.

“I have confidence teens can change the culture of driving to one that is distraction-free – much like earlier generations did with seat belts,” said Kelly Browning, Ph.D., Executive Director, Impact Teen Drivers. “The Create Real Impact Contest provides an opportunity for teens to lead the conversation by getting involved and stopping the number one killer of people their age.”

“We continue to support this important initiative because it saves lives,” said California Casualty Chairman of the Board, Beau Brown, who is also a member of the Impact Teen Drivers Board of Directors.

The winning entries can be viewed at http://www.createrealimpact.com.

Impact Teen Drivers has reached more than two million teens since 2007 and the Create Real Impact contest began in 2009. California Casualty is a founding partner of the nonprofit and continues to provide support for the contest. California Casualty representatives will help present checks to the winning schools and awardees.

Students can get started now for the 2020 Spring Create Real Impact Contest, which will begin in January. For more information on how to get schools and students involved, please contact info@impactteendrivers.org.

Six Effective Ways To Get Cheaper Car Insurance

[ad_1]

News Image

“Saving money on car insurance is not impossible. Graduating a defensive driving course and bundling multiple policies can help you obtain affordable premiums”, said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Compare-autoinsurance.org has launched a new blog post that presents several methods that can help drivers pay cheaper car insurance.

For more info and free car insurance quotes, visit https://compare-autoinsurance.org/6-amazing-ways-that-will-help-you-pay-lower-car-insurance-rates/

For many drivers, the costs for maintaining a vehicle and paying for insurance can be quite high, especially for those who are struggling to pay for other household necessities. The price of car insurance is determined after multiple factors have been analyzed. Many of these factors are beyond the driver’s control, but some can be changed in order to help the driver pay lower insurance rates.

To save money on car insurance, drivers should follow the next tips:

  • Keep a good credit score. Drivers with a good credit score will always pay lower insurance rates. Drivers with poor credit scores can take some measures in order to improve it. All they have to do is to pay their bills on time and maintain a low credit card debt.
  • Raise the deductible. Policyholders that have full coverage can save money by simply raising the deductible. Insurers consider that drivers that have higher deductibles are less likely to file a claim. The higher the deductible is, the greater are the car insurance savings.
  • Drive a cheaper vehicle. Drivers that are looking to purchase a new vehicle, should consider choosing a car that can satisfy their needs and is affordable. Sedans or other types of small cars are ideal for those searching to save money on insurance. Also, drivers that plan on buying a hybrid or electric vehicle should check the various discounts provided by insurers for owning an eco-friendly vehicle.
  • Be a good driver. Everybody knows that insurers are offering discounts to drivers that manage to keep clean driving records for a certain number of years. A clean driving record should have no accidents, traffic tickets, DUI incidents, or other violations related to a driver’s license.
  • Join a defensive driving course. Drivers that manage to graduate a defensive driving course will obtain a discount that is between 5% to 20% of their insurance premiums. Attendants of these courses will learn about the new updates on the local driving laws, how to remain safe on the road, and new driving techniques.
  • Bundle policies. An easy method used to save money on insurance is to bundle multiple policies. Insurers will offer generous discounts to drivers that bundle at least two policies. The more policies are bundled, the larger is the provided discount. Depending on the insurance company, drivers can get car insurance, homeowners’ insurance, renters’ insurance, motorcycle insurance, life insurance, and even boat insurance all covered under one policy

Important Safety Features That Will Help Drivers Pay Cheaper Car Insurance

[ad_1]

News Image

“Upgrading your vehicle with the latest safety advancements and technologies, will help you not only to save money on car insurance, but it will help you have a safe car for your family”, said Russell Rabichev, Marketing Director of Internet Marketing Company.

Compare-autoinsurance.org has launched a new blog post that presents several important safety features that can help drivers pay cheaper car insurance premiums.

For more info and free car insurance quotes, visit https://compare-autoinsurance.org/the-most-important-safety-features-that-can-help-you-save-money-on-car-insurance/

Safety features that are installed in the vehicles can help drivers save money on insurance. Safety features can protect the driver and the passengers in the event of a collision and some features can even prevent accidents. From these reasons, insurance companies will pay medical bills for fewer accident injuries. To encourage drivers to purchase safer vehicles, insurance companies are offering discounts for the safety features installed in the vehicles. However, not all insurance companies are offering discounts for safety features.

The most important safety features are the following:

  • Airbags. Drivers can get a greater discount if they have a vehicle that has a side curtain and front airbags. Drivers are less likely to experience severe injuries if they have airbags in their cars. As a result, insurance companies will have to pay less out on PIP claims and medical payments claims.
  • Anti-lock brake systems. In the states of New York, New Jersey, and Florida car insurance providers are obliged by the law to give discounts to policyholders who own vehicles with ABS systems. ABS systems can help drivers save money on collision coverage, medical payments, PIP insurance, and liability insurance.
  • Electronic stability control. Some carriers are offering discounts to policyholders who own vehicles equipped with ESC. Electronic stability control will help drivers control their vehicles on icy or wet roads.
  • Seat belts. Discounts for seatbelts are quite new in the insurance industry. Some insurers will offer a 15% discount off medical payment coverage and PIP insurance premiums just for having seatbelts installed in a vehicle.
  • Daytime running lights. This safety feature is present on most modern vehicles and will help drivers have better visibility during the day. In most cases, drivers will get a 5% discount off their liability coverage, medical payment coverage, collision coverage, and PIP premiums.
  • Crash resistant door. Drivers who own vehicles that have doors that feature the latest crash resistance technology, that has safer crumpling on impact, are eligible for a 5% discount.
  • Anti-theft devices. While these systems don’t protect a driver while driving, they will protect a parked vehicle. Insurers will offer discounts that can be as large as 30% for drivers who have advanced anti-theft devices in their vehicles, like ignition kill switches.
  • Lane departure systems. Modern vehicles are equipped with lane departure warning systems or advanced systems that can push a vehicle back to its lane. These systems can prevent drowsy driving and distracted driving. The discount can vary a lot depending on the insurance company and on what type of system is installed in the vehicle.

Stay Metrics Releases Case Study on PS Logistics’ Success Using Driver Rewards, Surveys

[ad_1]

News Image

“We won’t cut corners to grow.”

Stay Metrics, the leading provider of driver retention tools for motor carriers, announces a new case study on PS Logistics (PSL). The latest addition to the company’s ongoing Success Metrics series shares the story of how one of the nation’s largest flatbed carriers has sustained rapid growth over the last 15 years by maintaining a complete commitment to drivers. You can read the full case study on the Stay Metrics website.

PSL and its partner carriers operate a combined fleet of 3,200 trucks. The company uses the Stay Metrics Drive for Gold Rewards Program to recognize drivers for performance, for compliments, for clean inspections and many other professional achievements.

The privately branded rewards program keeps drivers engaged by earning points from various recognition categories. As points accumulate, drivers redeem them for tens of thousands of items or travel options through the fleet’s Drive for Gold online portal.

Stay Metrics also administers driver onboarding surveys for PSL. The surveys check-in with new driver hires during critical periods of early employment to gauge their attitudes and expectations and to determine if their expectations match the realities of the job.

PSL receives immediate alerts if any responses indicate that a driver has an elevated risk of leaving. With these insights, PSL managers have been able to successfully intervene with high-risk drivers to prevent turnover.

“PS Logistics has been a quiet leader in the open deck sector over the years and consistently outperforms its peers in driver retention. I believe this success is a result of the company’s culture shining through and reflects its commitment to investing in retention tools, like what we do, to help improve the lives of drivers,” said Tim Hindes, Co-Founder and CEO of Stay Metrics.

The case study also examines the strategies PSL uses to excel among its peers in the trucking industry, such as giving drivers a choice in loads and using a percentage pay model. Both strategies reflect the company’s core commitment to fairness.

“We won’t cut corners to grow,” stated Scott Smith, Chief Executive of PSL based in Birmingham, Ala.

The full Success Metrics case study on PSL is available to anyone at no cost on the Stay Metrics website. Carriers that have been featured in past case studies include Load One, Liquid Trucking, Brady Trucking, and Ag Transport.

Fall edition of the Register

Our recent issue reflects the diversity of contributors with articles that help consultants through their daily routine of practice. Additionally the publication presents Association news and member benefits…Editor-in-Chief, Wendy Kennedy, IARFC Team

Bryan S. Slovan, MRFC® is the Register profile – which reviews his company Stuart Financial Group and how he is Still There for the Client When They Need Him. Jaime Bosse, RFC® connects with readers as she promotes her financial concepts on teaching kids how to grow into financially responsible adults. With four kids under the age of six, she outlines financial topics that can be taught to kids at different ages – the goal being to make kids financially savvy and help them navigate the “real world” of finances without a ton of help from their parents.
