Cambridge Christian School Chorus Slated for Christmas Concert at “Toys for Tampa Bay” Charity Event

Student groups support community causes whenever possible, as part of their ongoing “Love Thy Neighbor” initiative.

Cambridge Christian School (http://www.ccslancers.com) has announced that a Christmas Chorus of students will perform at Toys for Tampa Bay, a holiday event for the US Marines’ Toys for Tots program on December 4, 2021, from 6:00 pm to 8:30 pm.

At last year’s event, Toys for Tampa Bay raised $20,000 and collected 1,000 toys for children whose families would not be able to afford Christmas presents. This year’s outdoor event at 4601 W. North A Street in Hyde Park will also feature a performance by the Tampa Metropolitan Youth Orchestra and appearances by Marines of Tampa, Santa Bob Eddy & Laredo Lass; Santa & Mrs. Claus; Thunderbug, mascot of the Tampa Bay Lightning; Raymond, mascot of the Tampa Bay Rays; Tampa Fire Rescue; and Tampa Police Department Mounted Horse & Motorcycle Divisions. The event’s presenting sponsors are Hyde Park Living magazine and Harwood Financial Group. Toys and donations will be collected on site.

The Christmas Chorus from Cambridge Christian School will perform upbeat holiday selections, both secular and sacred. Highlights include “Please Come Home for Christmas” by the Eagles, “Snowman” by Sia, and traditionals like “Do You Hear What I Hear?” and “I’ll Be Home for Christmas.”

“The students and I are very excited to be singing at the Toys for Tampa Bay event, obviously because of the good it will accomplish for kids in our neighborhood, but also for the joy of getting the community together again to celebrate Christmas in a very festive way,” said Melissa Rawls, Choral Director at Cambridge Christian School. “The event is a great setting for children and families to enjoy the music, lights, decorations, food, and appearances by characters they love. It’s a great family outing.”

The Christmas Chorus is composed of various members of the three different ongoing choruses available to students at Cambridge Christian School. The school emphasizes student involvement in music, athletics, and the arts, as well as academics. Student groups also support community causes whenever possible, as part of their ongoing “Love Thy Neighbor” initiative.

“Cambridge students are making a positive difference in Tampa,” said Marty Hillier, Director of Marketing and Communications for Cambridge Christian School. “For example, Key Club students serve food at Trinity Café, where Feeding Tampa Bay offers a free, full-service restaurant for those who need a healthy meal. They also recently collected 1,300 canned food items for a local food bank. And students in the National Junior Honor Society are currently spearheading a shoebox drive with the younger, elementary school students, who also sponsor children in Haiti and help stock the pantry for Oak Grove Food Drive. ‘Love Thy Neighbor’ is part of the school’s culture.”

Oneida Indian Nation Unveils ‘Passage of Peace’ Installation to Raise Awareness of COVID Impact on Western Tribal Nations and Share Message of Hope with Local Community

Oneida Indian Nation Unveils ‘Passage of Peace’ Cultural Art Installation to Raise Awareness Around COVID Impact on Western Tribal Nations and to Share Message of Hope and Peace with Local Community

We hope The Passage of Peace will bring attention to continued hardship taking place in many parts of Indian Country, while delivering a message of peace and remembrance with our neighboring communities here in Upstate New York.

In conjunction with Native American Heritage Month, the Oneida Indian Nation today unveiled a new cultural art installation called the Passage of Peace. Comprising seven illuminated tipis located on Nation lands just prior to Exit 33 of I-90, the Passage of Peace will run through the holidays.

The Oneida Indian Nation chose the tipi as the Passage of Peace’s central image to recognize both these Western Tribal Nations and the collective challenges of Native American people. While the Oneidas and other Iroquois tribes lived in longhouses not tipis, the tipi is a universally recognized symbol of Native American identity. The tipi represents a shared sense of purpose and determination in the face of hardship, making it the ideal choice to pay tribute to Western tribes.

“We hope The Passage of Peace will bring attention to continued hardship taking place in many parts of Indian Country, while delivering a message of peace and remembrance with our neighboring communities here in Upstate New York,” said Ray Halbritter, Oneida Indian Nation Representative. “The tipi has become a universally recognized symbol of Native American identity. It also represents the traditions of Indigenous Nations in the Western U.S., many of which have experienced tremendous loss of life and suffering during the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The installation was inspired by similar public artworks created by American Indian Nations throughout the country. The Nation was moved to create the Passage of Peace to honor those lost during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially among its brother and sister Nations in the Western U.S. where these losses have been greatest.

The Impact of COVID-19 on Native Americans:

  • Native Americans are 5.3 times more likely than white people to be hospitalized due to COVID-19
  • Coronavirus case rates were higher among American Indians and Alaskan Natives in 23 states and four times higher in New Mexico, Montana, Mississippi, Oregon and Arizona
  • One in every 475 Native Americans has died from COVID, compared to one in every 825 white Americans and one in 645 Black Americans
  • More than one in five COVID-related deaths in Montana involved Native Americans
  • The Navajo Nation reported higher COVID-19 infection rates than any single state in the U.S. by mid-2020
  • In Montana, 3.8 percent of Native American Elders 75 to 84 and 4.6 percent of those 85 and older have been lost to COVID
  • Nations in Arizona and New Mexico report losses over 5.7 percent among those 85 and over

The installation also serves as a reminder of the importance of coming together in peace and remembrance with family, friends and neighbors during the holiday season. The Nation has always emphasized the importance of warmly welcoming guests to its homelands, and the Passage of Peace will provide this greeting for all who live within, travel through and visit Nation lands and the surrounding communities through the New Year.

Genedata Profiler 16.0 Accelerates the Development of Precision Medicines

News Image

By providing fine-grained access control to data and further opening the software to preferred analytical tools, scientists can now perform data analysis in an automated yet flexible manner. We believe automating processes improves accuracy, workflow efficiency, and consistency of operations.

Genedata, the leading provider of enterprise software solutions for biopharmaceutical R&D, today announced the release of a new version of Genedata Profiler®, the innovative platform for translational and exploratory clinical research. The new 16.0 release enhances process automation in R&D enabling biopharmaceutical companies to streamline the generation of life-changing precision medicines while reducing costs.

Genedata Profiler empowers translational research scientists at the interface between pre-clinical and clinical R&D to find, access, integrate and leverage multi-omics, imaging, clinical, and digital biomarker data. For a holistic biological view and scientific insight generation, Genedata Profiler automates the processing, harmonization, and integration of different data types, making it analysis-ready for bioinformaticians, data, biomarker, and clinical scientists. This efficient combination of data from various sources is possible due to the new automation capabilities that enable real-time updates of large and complex datasets.

With permission-based and object-level access controls, the collaborative software allows rigorous regulation of users’ access to data. At the same time, the software provides users with self-service access to structured, quality-controlled data for analysis using a wide range of analytical tools. Users of Genedata Profiler obtain a greater understanding of the right patient profile for a particular medicine and the expected response to treatment. This has resulted in improved patient stratification and the development of diagnostic tools for clinical use.

The new release focuses on efficiently delivering the right data to the right user in their preferred format for further downstream analysis. Featuring new capabilities to eliminate bottlenecks during translational R&D, Genedata Profiler 16.0 improves data organization and automates processes required for regulatory compliance.

Highlights of Genedata Profiler 16.0 include:

  • Enhanced Interoperable Data Analytics

Large data sets can now be integrated and presented to business intelligence and expert analytical tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau, RStudio, Jupyter, SAS, and others) in a highly performant manner. This facilitates rapid data query and live visualization from a variety of interfaces. While providing further flexibility and additional analytical approaches, the software allows data consumers to use their preferred tools without limitations on the amount of data or its complexity.

  • Enhanced Automation of Data Ingestion and Processing

The entire cycle from import, processing, quality control, transformation to publishing is now automated. This eliminates the need for error-prone manual data handling while providing additional timesaving.

  • Improved Data “FAIRness”

Users are now equipped with user-friendly yet stringent metadata management controls. With this fine-grained user-specific regulation, biopharmaceutical companies can ensure metadata is harmonized and easily validated across studies. This improves data organization allowing the right data to be easily found by the right users.

  • Automation of Computer System Validation (CSV) Testing

CSV testing is automated enabling easy and efficient assessment while reducing the cost and time required for software validation following upgrades.

“We are pleased to support biopharmaceutical companies in improving the quality of their research by structuring the data in an organized manner. This is the foundation of ensuring data is FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable)” said Othmar Pfannes Ph.D., CEO of Genedata. “By providing fine-grained access control to data and further opening the software to preferred analytical tools, scientists can now perform data analysis in an automated yet flexible manner. We believe automating processes improves accuracy, workflow efficiency, and consistency of operations. Together, this will result in time savings and cost-effectiveness during drug development.”

Building God’s Way Awards Builder Partners for Outstanding Achievement

Building God’s Way (BGW) hosted the BGW Builder Conference on November 8-9 at the Ogden Eccles Conference Center in Ogden, UT. Held every 18 months, partner contractors from all across the U.S. gathered with BGW leadership to share ideas and strategies, discuss challenges and review new opportunities in facility design & construction for churches and Christian schools.

On Monday evening at the conference dinner banquet, several builder partners were recognized for outstanding achievement in the areas of stewardship, job site ministry, and business development.

S&B Construction and Weaver Commercial Contractor were presented with the Ministry of Construction Award, in recognition of their outstanding efforts to coordinate ministry outreach on BGW job sites and help church clients impact the lives of workers with the love of Christ. An integral part of the BGW approach since its foundation, the Ministry of Construction program involves organized acts of hospitality, appreciation and kindness to the workers throughout the duration of a construction project.

The Steve Hartman Stewardship award was presented to five builders in recognition of the outstanding value and savings their companies have delivered to BGW clients. Award recipients included The Collage Companies, Erickson-Hall Construction, Hilbers, Inc., S&B Construction and Weaver Commercial Contractor. The award is named in honor of the late CEO of BGW, Steve Hartman, who was instrumental in bringing innovation and organizational structure to the BGW pre-construction stewardship process, one of the key programs that distinguishes BGW in the marketplace by incorporating valuable subcontractor input prior to the completion of construction drawings. It also leverages construction industry relationships and linkage within the ministry that can lead to significantly reduced costs.

Three builders were also recognized for their excellence in business development and establishing new relationships with church and Christian school clients. Award recipients included The Collage Companies, S&B Construction and Weaver Commercial Contractor.
