“Windsor facilities are committed to providing the safest possible environment to their residents, visitors and employees and will continue to implement best practices.”

Windsor facilities across California and Arizona are carefully monitoring the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and are employing multiple strategies to limit the possible spread of the virus. Many of these steps are the same as those the facilities use every day to detect and prevent the spread of other respiratory viruses. They are also closely following the recently released guidelines published by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

Some of the specific steps being taken are:

a) Posting signs at the entrance instructing visitors not to enter if they have symptoms of a respiratory infection.

b) Advising employees to stay home if they have symptoms of a respiratory infection.

c) Assessing residents’ symptoms of respiratory infection upon admission to the facility and implementing appropriate infection prevention procedures for incoming symptomatic residents.

d) Residents with fever or acute respiratory infections will be restricted to their rooms.

e) Communicating regularly with local and state public health sources regarding the disease and its spread.

f) Supporting hand and respiratory hygiene, as well as cough etiquette by resident, visitors and employees. This includes: (i) ensuring employees clean their hands according to CDC guidelines; (ii) increasing the availability and use of alcohol based hand rubs; (iii) making sure tissues are available and sinks are well stocked with soap and paper towels for hand washing,

g) Increasing their stock of personal protective equipment.

“Windsor facilities are committed to providing the safest possible environment to their residents, visitors and employees and will continue to implement best practices,” says Heidi Capela, Vice President of Clinical Services. “We will continue to remain in contact with federal, state and local authorities to ensure they stay abreast of all relevant developments.”
