Total cost of care helps patients make appropriate choices and helps local ACOs, such as Healthcare Solutions Network and Mercy Health Select, LLC, make appropriate referral choices. The analysis was risk-adjusted, for alive and non-hospice patients and was done at the DRG level, specifically DRG 871: Septicemia Or Severe Sepsis Without MV >96 Hours With Major Complication Or Comorbidity, to adjust for complications and comorbidities.

West Chester Hospital

West Chester Hospital’s total cost of care over a 90 day episode was $24,313 (for the period between July 2016 and June 2019). The index hospitalization cost was $10,953 and the average rehospitalization cost per hospitalization was $6,993. The cost per rehospitalization was at an average of $18,796.
